Not much at all near my house. There is a Pokestop about 2 blocks away, and singer's work has a gym behind it. I'm off my work until Sunday, so I'm hoping that shopping center area will be more fruitful.- Glork

I think quadz and I are feeling the under leveled pain, too. Earlier today I took a gym, and within hours it was re-captured by three people 10+. I'm barely 8, and don't really have the luxury of bountiful time or surroundings, so it feels like I'm going to fall more behind as time goes on...In post 130, zoraster wrote:so i got back home and while there are a ton of poke stops within a 2 minute walk, the three gyms around me all have 15+ level people on them. I'm level 6.
Edit: that said, my workplace is a Pokemon GO Gym, and there's a Pokestop right by it, so I hope I'll at least get a decent stream of supplies and Pokemon spawns on my meal breaks.- Glork

My 10k eggs keep spawning bug types (Pinsir, Pinsir, Scyther). It's kind of annoying.- Glork

Had dinner and drinks with the fam on top of a pokestop. Roughly 30 swipes later, I finally have a decent supply of pokeballs. <_<- Glork

No, the opposite is better. In post 439, xRECKONERx wrote:
yes but leveling becomes much slower later whereas 1-20 is pretty steady and quick-ish so it makes more sense to save it for the slog when you stop getting lucky eggs and have caught all the pokemon so you're not getting that new pokemon bonus eitherIn post 431, Rhinox wrote:
eh... you're still getting the same XP from the lucky egg either way. In fact you're probably likely to get more xp the earlier you use them as you're more likely to be able to get the double xp on new pokedex entries the lower level you are.In post 429, xRECKONERx wrote:save the egg leveling strat for after lvl 20 because you stop finding lucky eggs in the wild and uh the XP jumps DRAMATICALLY in terms of how much you need per level
Last night I was barely 17, popped a lucky egg when I was about to hatch two eggs. 7 new pokedex entries from evolutions, and roughly 35 other evolutions later, I'm 20. Which means I have access to Ultra Balls (and likely higher CP Pokemon) now, rather than a few days from now. Popping the Lucky Egg after I hit 20 would have zero net benefit to my total XP, but I have the capacity to collect better items sooner. Getting from 20 to 21 gives me relatively little, but racing from 17 to 20 netted me much bigger benefits sooner.- Glork

Yes, given enough time you can triangulate the location of a Pokemon on your nearby list. The problem is actually determining that location before the Pokemon despawns. In the last few days I've had both a Golduck and a Tentacruel despawn entirely before I could precisely located them.- Glork

Apparently there was an Unown like 10 mins from my house this evening but my Facebook messenger app wasn't working so I didn't get the message that it was there until after it had despawned.- Glork

Last thing I need to finish my regional Dex is Porygon2. I've picked up nearly 40 evo items but have yet to find an Up-Grade....- Glork

I'm fairly certain, based on other observations, that they will be 2k eggs that hatch some type of guarateed shiny. The tl;dr of evidence is basically:In post 599, Cabd wrote:Not just one egg. All the event pokestops will be dropping special 2KM eggs. My assumption is they'll be 10k eggs but only need 2k steps. There's a walking circle in the park that they'll have set up.
1) Niantic have said that everyone will be able to get what they players at the Chicago Fest get.
2) New sprites for Pikachu, Raichu, and Gastly have shown up in-game, similar to the new Karp/Gyarados models that appeared right before they could be shiny.
3) Pichu and Gastly come from 2k eggs.
idk if they're going to continue to release shinies in batches, but if they do, Pichu/Gastly shinies from the event makes the most sense.- Glork

Bagged a couple of Articuno, one of which is 96%. Haven't raided a Lugia yet but that's the plan today.
Earned a touch under 900k experience so far, will def hit Level 36 this week now that they've extended the bonus window.- Glork

polyhaus has extra heracross/corsola. if you have an extra lunatone I could use one. we should wait until we are at least Great Friends though, because trading costs are pretty prohibitive before that tier- Glork

Also Cheery Dog friended me and I got an Aussie Alola egg from him as a gift. I can't wait until it hatches a fucking A-Rattata and I contemplate transferring it despite its Aussieness.- Glork

I basically 100% agree with this.In post 735, xRECKONERx wrote:We’ve got some division in our local community around what is and isn’t acceptable play. Curious what the opinions are here are on which of these are okay or not, and why? I know what my gut feelings are, but I find it hard to articulate the reasons.
1. Getting a player on a different team to knock a space in a gym of your own team so that you can add to it
- Shitty, but allowed.
2. Using a second account on a different team to knock a space in a gym of your own team so that you can add to it
- Technically not allowed.
3. Using golden berries to defend a gym you are holding, whilst someone is trying to take it down
- This is fine.
4. Getting players on your team to help defend a gym before an ex raid, even though they don’t have a pass to that raid
- This is fine.
5. Using a second account on your own team to help defend a gym before an ex raid
- Technically not allowed.
6. Getting a player on a different team to help you remove a specific player from a gym, without affecting the rest of the players occupying that gym
- Uhhh I mean seems fine? Part of strategy?
7. Using a second account to knock your own pokemon out of a gym so that you get coins
- Technically not allowed
Regarding your dilemma for scenarios 1 and 4, Fenchurch:
1 is defintely kind of low, but happens regularly enough that I think people have become largely desensitized to it. As long as you are not targeting a specific palyer all the time (scenario 6), I don't think that having friends from other teams help you out is necessarily the Worst Thing Ever. I personally don't like it/don't do it, but I no longer raise a fuss when other people do. Sadly, it's part of the game.
4 is all about team play. Many people in our community show up to EX raids without having a pass because their family/friends are there, and they want to hang out. And in doing so, they will typically try to hold/defend a gym even if they aren't raiding it. If my fellow Mystics help me defend an EX raid gym so that I get extra balls, I will definitely try to return the favor. "You scratch my back, I'll scratch yours" is a generally accepted concept around here, particularly among the same team.- Glork

The reason that one can likely assume a discord channel in any decently populated area is because Pokémon GO has become a largely social game. That has been the intent of the creators and developers since its inception, and the last two years of updates have fairly steadily pushed it towards more social interaction. It has relatively little to do with “rewarding effort” from a strategic perspective. In post 755, Psyche wrote:ur suggestion that it would be surprising if there weren't a gaming discord for his specific area strikes me as funny because pokemon go doesn't seem like the kind of game that really rewards effort to the extent that such an attitude is warranted
maybe you know where sudo lives and he's in some high density area, but when i loled that possibility hadn't immediately come to mind- Glork

It's not. Related changes (files related to the mon's battle cry, appearance) were starting to show leading up to the forced update on Friday, and within moments of the newmon spawning, their global marketing director tweeted a screenshot of it. Also, this is the 808th Pokemon found, and PokeGO has been out for exactly 808 days. It has been planned for some time.In post 848, Sudo_Nym wrote:Niantic is claiming that it's a "teaser", not a "leak." Not sure if that's just a saving throw on their part, though.- Glork
