I'm really tired of the Rogue archetype that has existed without really any changes since basically week one of GvG. There's not much room for variation. The first thing I did in TGT was try to make a Beneath the Grounds deck work, because it felt different. (Same reason I tried to make mill rogue a real thing.)

Depends on what you want to play.

The craft I'm happiest with ATM is

Justicar Trueheart

. She is a powerhouse in most Warrior shells now (sans Patron) so she is an autoinclude in CW, fatigue Warrior, Dragon Warrior, taunt Warrior, and basically any other warrior deck that doesn't run Grim Patron.

Chillmaw

is a solid craft and is being played in every single dragon deck (Mage, Priest, Warrior) and is just really strong at the slot (and she shits on patron).

Gormok the Implaer

is rarely used but I've run him as an upper end in a few flood decks (namely Paladin & Shaman) and I think he's pretty strong.

Varian Wrynn

is seeing fringe play in some Warrior lists that aren't running Alex.

Those are the only ones I'd consider crafting, though. I have most of the legendaries from this set and they're honestly mostly unplayable (or people haven't found a good archetype for them yet). I want Fizzlebang to work but I just can't get him to fit in a deck.

If you don't like playing Warrior then the answer is probably Chillmaw. If you don't like playing dragon decks or warrior then craft Gormok. If you don't like playing any, save the dust.

For me the meta is terrible on ladder -- it's basically 4 decks: secret Paladin, face Hunter, aggro Druid, and midrange Hunter. Hunter is a cancerous class due to its bullshit hero power, so I'm never happy to see it in any form, even control. Secret Paladin is

a legendary from the set due to balance issues, how broken must that have been? What's worse is that Secret Paladin isn't even a fun deck to play. And then Aggro Druid -- oh boy, ooooh boy, that deck is just AIDS.

Here's the issue: none of those decks require decision making. It's just 'Play On Curve for Value'. There are a bunch of design decisions that Hearthstone made at its inception (most egregiously, no interaction during opponent's turns) that are starting to really take hold of the game and drag it down. They need to fix some of that now. They need to rework Hunter. They need to buff/tweak older cards to bring them in line and shut down the meta. Six months of Patron was goddamned ridiculous, and we're looking at

4 months until a new Adventure, which means 4 months of Secret Paladin. Blizzard's design philosophy is shit. You have a digital card game -- literally the BIGGEST ADVANTAGE OVER PAPER CCGs IS THE ABILITY TO TWEAK CARDS! All Blizz wants to do is their form of "banning" cards in completely dismantling them and making them useless.

TGT was such a shit set. When you release a massive set and less than 10 cards see any regular play, that's a fucking problem.

Hearthstone's real problem is the lack of control viability. I wrote a long post about this on reddit awhile back that got pretty good feedback, but the TLDR is that there's not enough solid removal/interaction options in Hearthstone to make a true "control" deck viable.

Looking back at MtG's meta when I used to play, ignoring land slots since Hearthstone doesn't have mana like that, a ~35 card deck would have ~14 board wipes/removal spells to deal with aggro. There aren't even enough cards in Hearthstone to devote half your deck to killing aggro boards, and if you did, there are not enough big endgame wincons to justify it. The big fatties just aren't "win the game alone" good.

Meh -- we've had metas dominated by super aggressive decks on ladder for a very long time now. While Handlock & Wallet Warrior were staples in the professional format (which operates very differently from ladder), ladder was still dominated by the "quickest games" mindset. Now, for the first time ever, I'm making actually interesting decisions in deck choice and during games when playing on ladder, and I'm able to see success from it.

We'll see how this affects the meta at professional levels. My thought is it probably won't look much different from the meta pre-LOE. The only thing it really effects is ladder, and I'm happy with how it has affected ladder. Losing to a fast deck that had perfect draws is endlessly frustrating in a game with no interaction.

does anyone have a good reno freeze mage list?

Yeah I'm running one right now. I'm having decent success. Not as much as I'd want, though. I think the issue is that cutting the Healbot is problematic because you could use Healbot to stabilize at any point, whereas now you have to wait till late game for Reno. I'd try something like:

2x Lance
2x Frostbolt
2x Ice Barrier
2x Ice Block
2x Frost Nova
2x Doomsayer
2x Mad Scientist

For the doubles. Everything else is singleton. Alex/Reno/Thaurissan/Thalnos/Antonidas for legendaries. Fill in with card draw (Acolyte, Intellect... Loot Hoarder? Engineer?) and board control (Flamestrike, Blizzard, Cone of Cold).

Without double Healbot for emergency stabilization, you kinda have to go all in on the board control & card draw engines. Also I sort of like Forgotten Torch as a one-of?

The more I think about it, the more interested I am in seeing a format without GvG/Naxx. Naxx has been such a staple of this game... and GvG is what made Paladin the cancer it is today. Druid is my favorite class so I guess i'm just defending my favorite combo. But i've personally never found the combo to be that OP anyways; it's frustrating to play against since it's a 14+ burst from an empty board, but there

is

counterplay for it in the form of expecting it, using taunts and Loatheb, not trading your hero down to ~14hp, and so on. It's infinitely less annoying to play against, at least for me, than say Freeze Mage which makes me want to kill myself.

The problem with playing against Druid is that it feels like starting with 16HP.

BGH saw plenty of play before Boom, he'll still be a staple tech card. Handlock won't be so rare since it retains basically its entire core post-rotation. Alex, Grom, Nefarian, giants, Rag, Geddon will all still be pretty good targets IMO, plus whatever 7+ atk minions come in afterwards

the heroic challenges in this xpac have been really easy compared to the previous expansions, honestly. chess was probably the hardest. the others i all did in no more than 2 tries

They said sets stay around for two years, which would imply that it's BRM and TGT that are rotating out, so the next standard will be LoE+WoToG+ONiK and then whatever comes out next year. Who knows, though, since this is going to be the first real rotation.

Nope, LOE was end of 2015. So the 2017 rotation will see BRM+TGT+LOE going.

The release cycle has been: Expansion, Adventure, Expansion, Adventure, Expansion, Adventure, Expansion, Adventure. But the cutoffs for standard make it:

Next rotation, we're losing two adventures and one big set.

But right now, we have one big set and an adventure under our belts. Will Blizzard really release another adventure before the end of the year, back to back with another adventure? They've never done that before. And if they release a full-blown expansion, it would have to be different from TGT/GVG/WOTOG, because those expansions were huge and the investment into this late year expansion would be less valuable over time.

Havent been playing much lately, but I played a couple ladder games earlier this evening just after midnight. Played miracle rogue and my stb was definitely at 2 health. But i just checked the subreddit and it looks like the nerfs should be live already from the way peiple are talking about it. Am i missing something or am I just misunderstanding?

i play once in awhile to knock out a quest or two just bc the next expansion is rumored to be Lich King themed and i want to be ready

I'll use tier lists near the start of a new expansion to get a general idea of which classes won/lost in the most recent expansion, but for card picking I don't.

I've beaten it with 6/9 classes. I have Paladin, Druid, and Priest left.

Priest definitely feels the hardest. I think the only viable wincon is to get stealth + OTK buffs with inner fire.

Druid's obviously the easiest so I'm saving it for last.

I've been trying Paladin and I keep getting soooo close. It's entirely dependent on getting the +1/+1 treasure, because that means you can go for a straight up Silver Hand deck and each of those fuckers is 2/2 to start, which is enough tempo to rush things down. I can reliably get 7/8 on Paladin. the last boss is killer.

Some quick tips for other classes:
Hunter: I think I won this by going Summoner bucket whenever possible and picking my secondary bucket around my treasure options. Really not hard if you try to out-aggro every boss.
Mage: Big Spells + stealth. Dropping Wyrm or Antonidas and not having to worry about them getting killed while you take advantage of your insane spells? Preeeeetty good.
Rogue: Pray for the battlecry treasure and just go Jade. Take Greed if you see an Auctioneer.
Shaman: Again, battlecry treasure + Jade/Crier buckets. Can also get away with a Mech build if you don't get the Battlecry treasure. Don't go murlocs, it's a trap.
Warlock: Honestly I don't even think what treasure you pick matters that much. Just pick Swarm every single chance you get, then scoop up some big finisher at some point. I wound up going Swarm like every time and had the Guldan DK to finish it off.
Warrior: Depending on your treasure. Got +1/+1? Go pirate/charge. Have 5+ costs 5? Go legendary/armor.

Honestly a good rule of thumb is that if you can't decide what to pick for treasure and you have the option of taking the "Play 3 secrets at the start of the game" one, take that one. it's versatile and can swing some games in your favor, giving you enough time to dig for whatever you need to pop off

Azari feels like she's the easiest, followed by Vustrasz.
Vol's probably middling tier.
The Darkness is next, and Togwaggle is the hardest.

CubeLock winds up playing more combo-y IMO
it's all about drawing as fast as possible to get to the cube combo

They both run the Possessed Lackey / Voidlord / Bloodreaver Gul'dan package, and they both have some Warlock staples (Mistress / Kobold Librarian / Mortal Coil / Defile / Hellfire / Spellstone)

But Control Lock doesn't run the Cube package (Dark Pact + Umbra + Cube + Doomguard + sometimes Taldaram) and doesn't focus on as much card draw (no Skull of the Man'ari or Mountain Giants).

Instead it runs Rin as an anti-control wincon, features more midrange stall cards (Drain Soul / Tainted Zealot / Tar Creeper / Dreadlord), and has both Gul'dan and N'zoth as wincons at the end in case Rin doesn't work out. Also runs 2x Twisting Nether to deal with big boards.

I'm currently sitting around a 60% winrate with it... Priest is the only bad matchup for it so far, everything else is pretty much easy (although Tempo Mage is pretty much a 50/50 coin flip).
