neoprene play surface, ability to put drinks at the table but not directly on the surface, portability (can bring it+chairs to other peoples houses without much difficulty)
right now when I have people over we play on coffee table which is roughly 36" X 36" or 1296 sqin which can fit about 4 people comfortably on some games but with the mid-sized topper we could nearly double that and get 2280 sqin which if we had 6 people attending would be the difference between everyone sitting at the table and touching or having room to relax your shoulders
i was playing a game of munchkin with 7 people sunday evening and there was literally not enough room for everyone to put their cards down towards the end of the game and it was super cramped
even if we play something like blood rage, the board takes up 1/3rd of the space, not leaving much for the player cards, decks, and minis. most games take up some room. i played carcassonne and was running tiles off the edge, couldn't keep everything on the play surface, etc. another bonus with the game table is we can play poker
idk i just think it's a pretty good deal when a good standalone table could run twice as much easily and can't be put away
i watched battle for rokugan being played at a local game store. the only thing that i think i might have trouble intuiting my next move because the tokens
if somehow they made like figs, even simple ones, it would drive up the cost a ton but i think would be worth it for me

any recs for other coops. medium complexity at most pls
Spirit Island is an incredible game. Dont know what you mean by medium complexity. It's fairly complex, but it is excellent.
just saying that 3/5 people typically playing aren't min-max gamers who like to think 3 steps ahead at a given turn. too much complexity leads to me correcting them when they make a rules error and i already get shit for sounding like i'm lecturing sometimes hah. i plan to eventually pick it up.
for example, mechvs v minons seems like its a bit light on the number of rules and requirements but is still pretty fun. i took a look at spirit island on youtube and can already tell just by looking at the layout it might make heads spin
last bastion look cool and i might pick up something in the forbidden series, thanks yall
