I think the game reacts erratically to hiccups in computer performance... at least, I've had multiple runs where the ball randomly jerks left or right without me pressing a button that correspond to periods where my computer slows down.

Not being able to upgrade towers
Unpausing the game and having the battle continue even though the "Paused..." cover stays up, leaving me unable to do anything (I was unable to even see what my final score was in-game, though the Kong high scores say it was 1801)
