hrm that's a tricky question tbh
I think a good fakeclaim takes a fair bit of preparation which makes it hard to fakeclaim whimsically, especially in an open game with only one TPR (i.e. any scum run up d1 would fakeclaim it ).
if you're intending to fakeclaim Watcher early try and either crumb your role really really discreetly or act ~survivalistic~ rather than actively wolfsiding
there's kind of an unconscious behaviour for TPRs in that they tend to be more survivalistic and low key than a vanilla townie - it's a greater -ev to town if they're shot or lynched/run up and have to claim.
if you push things that are scum motivated then claim a power role there's a kind of play dissonance in that
> you haven't maintained a low profile
> your play just feels like its not coming from town
> it doesn't feel as though you feel the burden of the need to stay alive (the way TPRs often do)
> you suddenly claim TPR after playing in a way that's jarringly different to how people traditionally expect a TPR to play
it's difficult to explain, my recognition that it was a fakeclaim was mostly timing and gut based. keep in mind I also had the meta of you being a town doc, in which you were powertown and obviously town and I had absolutely no idea you were a town power role--so maybe I in particular was looking for more from TPR!volxen
gimmick plays take a lot of practice. as for what made me knock you a rung under Sesq, I'll need to revisit. the fakeclaim is definitely the straw that broke the camels back though!- the worst

I wish I could remember with greater lucidity! I think I would have kept pushing you over Sesq though. In post 32, volxen wrote:Would it have been more believable if I had just claimed Town Backup then? Would that have convinced you to push Sesq instead of myself, or were you locked onto me no matter what?
Why must scum be so much harder than town!
the only way I might have played it differently were I in your position d1 would be to start softing a claim. lines like "lynching me d1 is an awful idea" and shit like that are really nice throwaway TPR lines.
try and think of ways to hint that you are the watcher without outright claiming it--it makes you look more like a TPR who doesn't want to out that they're a TPR and if the actual watcher gets nervous and counterclaims, you have the potential to either try and get them lynched over yourself or just night kill them. sweet +even position to be in regardless of whether Kr not you're lynched.
but agreed.... I find scum harder than town as well... ;n;- the worst

They were pretty unrelated. I actually wasn't scumreading you for long in 1888...Mostky I was a bit too tunnelled on MR and saw you as a high equity partner. If I'd stopped and realised MR was probably town (which I really struggled accepting, and needed the night phase to cool off after his lynch) I think I would have had you as town d1.In post 33, volxen wrote:
No, you're fun to play with when you're not accusing me of being scum. At least we have had one game together as the same alignment... but I really need to win this one to get you back for Newbie 1885!In post 31, the worst wrote:

I was actually curious if you thinking that I was scum in Newbie 1888 had anything to do with this game.
but yeah the game's reads were totally unrelated!- the worst
