That’d result in me automatically winning.
Plus, why would scum agree to that?

Does the game have traditional voting or just unlimited vigs?

The game does have the normal lynch, in addition to all players holding one vig shot per day, (scum have theirs lumped together).
So, Town can hang someone each day,
and
each townie is allowed to individually shoot someone each day

Re: Vig shots, does this mean collectively town can only shoot once per day and scum once per day, or everyone can go ham except for the scum team? Cuz if it's the latter I'd imagine a situation where you can narrow out scum based on who is unable to fire, but I may be underthinking it

Town are allowed to individually shoot. Scum have their shots lumped together so they share a kill, (the factional kill).
Players who are killed in this method don't have the shooter announced. The detective will have a pool of players that it could be. If Player A shot Player B, and Player C, (the detective) investigates Player B, they'd get back: "Player A, Player D or Player E could've shot Player B!" in addition to revealing to everyone else what Player B was.

One of those names would actually be correct.

To prevent the detective from spamming investigations as well, there'd be a four-day cooldown between investigates, so they could get 3 investigates in per day.

If everyone dies, then I automatically win because no one is able to win.
Mafia did not take a majority of town, (since they're all dead), and no pro-town players are still alive.

That also brings into the account the following mechanics.
A player is allowed to follow someone else, and they'll be directly informed if that player is killed, and if they are, who shot them.

However, to prevent multiple people visiting the same target, if more than one person follows someone else, all follows fail.
Following a dead player causes them to be revealed as dead, however, their role-card remains a mystery, (only because I realized that it'd be impossible for a dead detective to be found out).

Following also is time-limited to prevent someone from spamming it, and finding a dead player that method. Once every two days someone can submit a follow target.
Once a dead detective is found, all players may also step forth to become the detective. This relies on a majority of players agreeing that someone becoming detective.

Feels like far too much of a deviation from the core game of mafia, and that's coming from me.
I'm sure there's an audience for it, though.

Hey guys, was active aaages ago, somehow got back into thinking about setups and stuff.

I'm working on a Death Note setup and would like someone to help with balance (haven't got much experience in that regard).

I also won't be modding as I can't commit to that at the moment, so bonus points if you'd be interested in that.

One surface-level thing I can share is that none of the roles will be referred to by their character names (Light, Mello, etc.), but instead by their 'symbols' or monikers ('Kira', L, M etc.) and will only be loosely based on the original characters. I just think it gives the game a much better feel ("I am Kira!" over "I am Light Yagami!"). Also definitely leaning on the simpler rather than the kinds of DN setups I've seen on MS (not bashing them, they're cool, gj Gelus)

PMs are open.

Ok working on a small Smash Bros setup too...

Honestly I just want someone I can show my crazy ideas to and help me turn them into something useable. Wether I mod or not isn't really important, right now I just wanna make 'em.

Anyone? Pretty please?

Would anyone be interesting in games based on either Fire Emblem 6, Fire Emblem 7, or the Tellius Games (and maybe Sacred Stones)? I’m pretty sure there are but I still want to put it out there that I have ideas for them, albeit extremely nebulous

Yea, I would be. I love the fire emblem series, so I wouldn't mind playing or helping review flavor.

So I'm working on a Cutthroat Kitchen themed game
I have this idea that there will be a phase where players all scramble to post in thread to get a limited supply of 'Ingredients' that enable parts of their roles.
Then there will be a phase where players all have 48 hours to spend currency to bid on sabotages to other players.

My question is this:
How do I keep both of these phases from being annoyingly governed by town that want to ruin everyone's fun by playing this whole game of dictating who should get what?

I'm a bit of at a loss besides encouraging cynicism and putting compulsive roles in the mix.

Right now I think the only realistic solutions are:
1. Make the 'Shopping' and 'Sabotage' phases limited to players ONLY posting ingredient grabs/bids and no other content in public threads.
2. Give scum secret factional abilities that can counter any pre-planned bidding or shopping strats/bid signaling and make it public knowledge that scum can counter these plays.

Just wish it wasn't a headache to plan around because I just want a fun mechanic but I know some players are very liable to make it a SOLVE THE GAME mechanic instead of a fun sort of 'sabotage who you think is scum' sorta thing.

Alternatively, I could make open strategizing over bids/shopping a modkillable offense but that's a scenario I'd prefer to avoid.

Option 1 sounds like the only way to prevent strategising, if I'm understanding the framework correctly.

Well, those phases would happen at the start of each new Day phase, so on D1 when players could talk, they could try to hash out some sort of plan for those phases on D2.
I'm worried that town just won't bid on sabotages, or will intentionally never try to outbid other players.
