GENERAL RULES

GENERAL

Adhere to all site rules.
Always play to win.
Remember that this is a game - heated discussion is allowed, but personal attacks are not. Comment on play, not player.
Pretending to break the rules will be treated similarly as actually breaking the rules.
Do not quote any private communication regarding this game—this includes your role PM, other mod communication, posts from private threads, etc. Paraphrasing is acceptable. If you're unsure, ask me first.
If you need to get my attention, please include "
@mod
" in your post or PM me.
This
(#777777) is my color. You can use it, if you want.
Do not use encryption, hidden text or excessively small text in your posts.
Do not use any form of provable randomness. This includes dice tags, screenshots of random.org, etc. Saying you flipped a coin is okay, providing some sort of proof that you did isn’t.
The first day phase will last for 21 days, with night phases lasting 48 hours. All subsequent day phases will last 10 days.
Players are allowed one non-game relevant "bah" post after their deaths. Otherwise, do not post in the game thread or any private topics following your death, with the exception of the dead thread.
If you have the ability to edit your posts, do not do so.
My decisions are final. If I feel you are violating any of the rules, I will take the appropriate action.
As a general principle, whenever moderator action is required I will attempt to make the decision that has the least impact on the natural flow of gameplay. For example, force replacing instead of modkilling whenever possible.

ACTIVITY

You are expected to make at least one game-relevant post every 48 hours. Players who go 48 hours without posting will be prodded.
If you are prodded, you have 24 hours to post in-thread. If you do not respond within 24 hours, you will be replaced. Additionally, if I have to prod you 3 or more times, you will be replaced at my own discretion.
Abuse of prod dodges will result in you being replaced at my own discretion.
If you are going to be V/LA, please announce it in thread or PM me. If your V/LA will last 7 days or longer I may be forced to replace you.

SETUP SPECIFIC

The setup is

The Coalition

This game is confirmed 2:7 scum to town.
On Day one, each player will vote to form a Coalition of 5 players while simultaneously voting for a lynch.
Should the majority-agreed upon Coalition contain

only

town aligned players, the town will instantly win.
Otherwise, the game will continue on.
Should the day end without a majority-agreed upon Coalition (through a lynch or through the deadline), the game will simply continue on as a vanilla game. The Coalition will not be checked to determine if town wins.

Voting

Use HEAL: tags to add players to your Coalition, and HURT: tags to remove them.
Votes for oneself are valid.
Players will be placed into your coalition in the chronological order of your votes, but I will mark identical 5-player Coalitions with superscripted numbers.

Whether or not the final coalition succeeds is independent of the lynch vote. Whether or not the coalition succeeds will be determined first, and then lynch will be resolved.

Not at all! Something I like about this setup is that, as opposed to perhaps a regular game of mafia, scum who just lurk and kind of fly under the radar get punished for doing so. I think in some sense that promotes good play for both alignments, no? Lurking can be kind of a "perverse incentive" for scum and I feel like this setup gets rid of that and forces them to be more active, which I think is a positive for the game.

although, to be fair, this may not exactly have been fair for gamma or for any mafia whose partner seems to flake on them - there's not really much to be done about that.

if anybody would be interested in another run of this setup, i'd be interested to know (either publicly or privately). like i said, i find it very enjoyable to both moderate and to spectate, so if someone is unsatisfied at how this one ended or if they want to try their hand again at day one PoE creation (or perhaps try their hand at infiltrating townblocks?), i'd be happy to put it in the queue again.
