I don't think this is correct but I also don't think it's even possible to compare the two. like that was a closed setup with a bunch of weird public mechanics involving lots of secret info and most of his first few posts were like 5 pages into the game. open setups are a completely different experience and it's a lot harder to fake feeling invested in the things you're sayingIn post 54, Shoshin wrote:To me, xyzzy's posts feel "super fake tryhard," not SirCake's. I don't care where you vote right now as long as you're offering a meaningful argument for why that's the right vote to cast. you have failed to offer any argument at all, and you've followed it up with completely misrepresenting my complaints.
I'm totally fine with you voting DGB or SirCakez or even me or anyone else as long as doing so contributes to the game. you have failed to do that.

I just don't like votes that don't come with a clear reason behind them. this setup is one that encourages scum to coast and not contribute much, because inevitably some town players will get scum read, so scum really only need one of the two of them to be on absolutely no one's radar to win. votes without added context are a really easy way to avoid getting on folks' radars if they're not treated seriously. In post 279, Errantparabola wrote:Is the vote bad or is it just my lack of justification?- xyzzy

I almost asked the question of who folks think SirCakez is partnered with earlier today but I realized it's kind of a moot point if he ends up being the one lynched -- it's a good idea to have a strong sense of who is most likely partnered with any given player, but by definition it doesn't matter at all who might be partnered with whoever gets lynched, unless somehow figuring that out makes it more likely to actually hit scum (which I don't think is the case in SirCakez's case). it's a good idea to go in with a plan of "if this person flees, this person is their partner", but if we're wrong about SirCakez being scum and we lynch him, any analysis of who his partner might be is 100% irrelevant.- xyzzy

btw, one small addendum to my last post: "who is X's scum partner if they're scum?" is not the same question as "if X flees, who is their scum partner?"
we can probably make guesses at the former based on associative behavior, but for any given pair of players who are scum, they have a choice between two options when it comes to fleeing, there's one that's probably better for them, and they'll almost certainly pick that one. therefore, if we mislynch and someone flees, if there are, say, 2 people who you think are decently likely to be their partner, one question that's worth asking is "why would this person flee instead of their partner?" -- if you think one possible partner would've been a better option for who to flee, it's probably the other one. (and it's not really a good idea for scum to try to WIFOM this and intentionally have the one who they consider to be the worse option flee, because that only works if they believe literally everyone will be analyzing the situation completely identically, which obviously isn't the case.)- xyzzy

Wow mastina would have a field day.
We can all just become content generators the same way I was generator of long essays in school. Arbitrarily make long drawn out statements that repeats the same ideas in different ways while not adding anything creatively new or meaningful. Hell we can turn this thread into mafia discussion. That’s gonna be fun.
What topics could we talk about?
Should town self hammer?
What is best way to scumhunting?
Is townhunting good here?
The options are endless!
We can also theory talk about theory talk.
Is theory talk useful?!?!
Can you generate reads from it?

sorry for the triple post but if it turns out SirCakez is town then BBmolla is deffo scum I think. I think the fact that momentum has slowed down on that wagon is a sign that either he's scum or there's already scum on the wagon, and BBmolla is the best candidate for the latter.- xyzzy

this is a kind of weird choice but I think I'm gonna submit Mewtaph. there are people who feel more obvious as possibilities but I think scum went into this game with a specific plan in mind, and I think picking someone like UT or Gorkington would be playing into that plan. Firebringer's play throughout this whole game only really makes sense if the plan was for the other mafia to win by being totally inconspicuous and dry, and a player for whom pretty much everyone's read is "eh, whatever" (almost no one besides me expressed an actual scum read on him before day 1 ended) might make more sense than accusing someone who might've been set up to take the fall.- xyzzy

very fun game. I don't think there was any scenario where I actually made the right choice there at the end. at some point during day 1 I convinced myself that it was impossible that SirCakez was still alive unless either he was scum or there was scum on his wagon, and I think that assumption was my biggest mistake. - xyzzy
