Family Game Night 1

It's time for anoter Family Game Night! Time once again to dabble in some classic and maybe not so classic tabletop games!

Rules

There will be a series of board/tabletop games played. Each round there will be a Round Table game and a Duel. The winner(s) of the Round Table game will be safe from elimination, however the loser will have to choose another player to duel (or will face each other in the result of multiple losers). The loser of that game will be eliminated. You may not PM other players about this game unless explicitly told to.


Round Table:

Each round all players will face off in a Round Table game. The winners of each game will receive a small advantage in the next one as well as be safe and cannot be chosen as an opponent in the Duel.

After Round 6 only 2 players will remain and will face off in a final 2 battle. The winner of 2 out of 3 board games will be the champion.


Duel:

Each round the loser of the Round Table game will be forced to enter a Duel. They may choose any player who did not win to face off with. If there are 2 losers who tie for last place in the Round Table game then they will both enter the Duel. If more than 2 players are tied for last, the winner will choose a loser and that player must choose another loser to duel.

These are a list of Duel games that will be played. Veto process has changed since the first game. This time, all players will submit 1 game they wish to veto. Then a random game will be decided by the remaining 3 games. The games this time will be:

-Cribbage
-Love Letter
-Welcome to the Dungeon
-Qwixx
-Killer VS Inspector
-Santorini
-Mint Works
-Hive
-Codenames
-Raptor

3 of the Duels that are not used will be used in the Final 2.

How to play:

How this specific challenge will work:

The goal of the game is to end the game with the most victory points. Each game round will be split into different turns. On a player's turn they will take a role card that hasn't been selected in the current round. That role will allow them to perform an action. After they have performed that action all other players will also perform that action in turn order. The player who chose the role will get a certain benefit with the role.

After all players have taken that action, the next player will choose a role card not yet selected in the round and you repeat the above steps. After each player has chosen a role card for the round, the round ends and the First player token (or Mayor token) will shift to the next player. Any role cards that weren't chosen in the previous round get a doubloon on them and all previously chosen role cards are made available again.

Setup:

Each player will start with 2 doubloons.

Each player will start with 1 plantation tile (the 1st and 2nd player will start with an indigo tile, the 3rd player will start with a corn tile)

Role Cards and Actions:

When you take a role you get to perform a special benefit with the role. After you finish your turn with the role all other players get to take the role action in turn order (but without the benefit)

The SettlerPlayers will be placing new plantations on their island spaces. Each player will have 12 Plantation Spaces (one of which will already be placed from the game start)

The player who chose The Settler may choose from any face-up plantation tile OR may take a Quarry tile.

All other players may then take a plantation tile in turn order and add it to their island.

Plantation/Quarry distribution:
-8 Quarry Tiles
-12 indigo
-11 sugar
-10 corn
-9 tobacco
-8 coffee


The MayorPlayers will be placing new colonists on their island to operate buildings

The player who chose The Mayor gains 1 colonist from the supply. Then one at a time (starting with The Mayor) players will take one colonist off the colonist ship until it is empty. For example, if I am the mayor and there are 4 colonists on the colonist ship, I first would gain 1 colonist from the supply. Then I would take 1 colonist from the ship, the other two players would then both take 1 each, then I would get the remaining colonist giving me a total of 3 (other players would only have 1).

After getting the colonists players may place these new colonists on plantations, quarries, or buildings. If a tile is unoccupied to capacity it WILL NOT FUNCTION.

Players may also move any previously placed colonists to new locations if they wish. Any colonists that cannot be placed are stored on a player's windrose and can be placed on a future Mayor action.

After this is finished the colonist ship is refilled with colonists. For each empty space on the combined players BUILDINGS a colonist is added to the colonist ship. There will be a minimum of at least 3 added however.


The BuilderPlayers will be building buildings on their island. Each player has 12 building spaces on their island BUT some buildings take up multiple spaces.

The player who chose this role can immediately build one building for one doubloon less than the normal cost. This is placed on any empty space on a player's board. All other players will then get the chance to build a building in player order at normal cost (minus quarry price reduction)

Each occupied quarry a player has will reduce the cost of the building by 1. However this reduction can only be applied a certain number of times depending on what column it is in (column 1 can only be reduced by 1, column 2 can only be reduced by 2, etc). Therefore if someone has 3 quarries and builds a building from column 1, the building's cost can only be reduced by 1.

This image shows the columns each building belongs to. So column 1's price can only be reduced by 1 for 1 quarry, column 2 can be reduced 2 by...column 4/5 can be reduced by 4 for 4 quarries

Rules for buildings can be found in the PDF on page 8. Only 2 of each building are in the supply (other than the 2 tile buildings of which there is only 1 in the supply) and you cannot build a building if you already have that building built.


The CraftsmanPlayers will be producing goods.

The player who chose this role takes goods from the supply according to their production ability and places them in their supply. Then all other players gain goods from the supply in turn order. After this is finished, the Craftsman may take 1 additional good of a good they produced this round.

A player CANNOT get goods if there are no more of that goods' tokens in the supply. There are:

-10 corn tokens
-11 sugar and indigo tokens
-9 coffee and tobacco tokens

PRODUCTION:
Production buildings are required along with plantations to produce goods. Corn is the exception to this, corn is just automatically produced.

THESE BUILDINGS WILL ONLY PRODUCE IF BOTH THE PLANTATION AND BUILDING ARE OCCUPIED

-Small indigo plant (produces 1 indigo in the round)
-Large indigo plant (produces up to 3 indigo in the round - 1 for each colonist occupying the building)

-Small sugar mill (produces 1 sugar in the round)
-Large sugar mill (produces up to 3 sugar in the round - 1 for each colonist occupying the building)

-Tobacco storage (produces up to 3 tobacco in the round - 1 for each colonist occupying the building)

-Coffee Toaster (produces up to 2 coffee in the round - 1 for each colonist occupying the building)


The TraderPlayers can sell goods.

The player who chooses this role immediately sells 1 good and gains 1 doubloon plus however much the good is worth. Then in turn order each other player can sell 1 good for normal price.

When selling players must abide by the rules:
-There must be an empty space to sell a good
-Players cannot sell a type of good already at the trading house.

After all players have sold 1 good or passed, the trading house is emptied IF there are four goods on it currently.

Good prices:
-Corn $0
-Indigo $1
-Sugar $2
-Tobacco $3
-Coffee $4


The CaptainPlayers may ship goods

The Captain chooses which goods they want to place on which ship. The captain will gain 1 VP total when he delivers goods for the first time in this phase. After the Captain loads one type of goods on a ship, the next player must load all of their goods on a ship. This goes until all players cannot place any more goods.

Spoiler: Loading and Shipping Rules
When shipping, players must follow these rules:
- Each cargo ship will carry goods of only one kind.
- Players may not load goods on a cargo ship if goods of that same kind are on
one of the other two cargo ships.
- Players may not load goods on a full ship.
- On a player’s turn, he must load goods if he can. However, he may only load one
kind of good and to only one ship.
- When a player loads goods of a kind, he must load as many of that kind as he
can. A player cannot hold back goods when there is space on a ship carrying the
kind of goods he has. If a player has a kind of good that can be loaded on
several empty ships, he must choose the ship where he can load the most goods,
leaving none behind, if possible.
- If a player has several kinds of goods that he can load, he may choose freely
which goods to load. He need not choose the goods that would allow him to load
the most cases.


Victory Points:
For each good a player loads, they earn 1 VP from the VP supply pile. All goods are worth 1 VP regardless of the type.

Storage:
When no more goods can be loaded players store the remaining goods in their supply. Players may only store ONE good. All other remaining goods must be stored in a warehouse. Any remaining goods are lost and returned to their prospective supply piles.



Game End:

The game ends when one of the following happens:
- at the end of the mayor phase there are not enough colonists to fill the colonist
ship as required;
- during the builder phase, at least one player builds on his 12th city space;
- during the captain phase, the last of the VP chips is taken.

The round is finished out (meaning players will still choose roles if they haven't done so already) then the scores are counted up.

Players get points for:
- the value of his VP chips
- the VP value of his buildings
- the extra VP scored by his occupied large buildings

The player with the most VP is the winner! The winning player of this will move on to the FINAL 2. In addition, they will get to veto 2 Duel Game choices for the final Duel Game between the other two players.

Jumble, because you won the previous Round Table you will begin the game with an extra doubloon and will be the first Mayor.
