No, the correct method is for me to claim Excalibur, and then next day if I'm Arthur, to inform me.

Basically, me being unkillable and IC means people can't do the stupid paranoia thing about me. I get to give my reads without the whole "LLD is great at scum" argument.

Kill resolves before claim. Yes, we'd effectively gate the scum kill but we'd also render the setup as 13-4 mountainous.
But I think you're right in that we could effectively use the sword claiming as a one-shot cop, but, again, that renders the bulletproof aspect of it kind of useless.

It's not that we can't talk mechanics. Mechanics is NAI. It's that talking mechanics and using them to smother other interactions that generate reads + create "content" for scummy players is scumsided. Explained in a prior post, happy to explain again.

Crossbus Gladiates are inherently bad for scum due to the White Flag rule. If one scum remains, they concede. Bussing is far more likely to create a single scum surviving scenario, and eventually scum need to leave associatives, which means bussing is bad, especially day 1.

Honestly, we get more value from having a strong town leader claim the sword rather than using it as a jank cop on bad town that no one wants to keep around anyway.

But the issue I realized just now is if I say "I'm taking it" I can just be shot to prevent it.

So we need two powerful town leaders both agreeing "we're taking it" so scum can only shoot one of us.

You and I or Myself and UT or even You and UT I'd be ok with, though I obviously prefer myself.

Also I don't really agree that having a single strong town leader dramatically helps us here, it nearly cost us Witches Ball. Scum knowing who the one IC is makes it too easy for them to play around that slot. Consistently pushing PoE wins more often.

I think you're going to be pushed regardless if you're scum or not. If you win the dual you go for the sword. If you flip people lose the excuse of pushing you.

This is a bad idea on Day 1 though. With no associatives, if you put me in a duel day 1 it will become about me and not the opponent. It will be a vote on whether people believe I am scum or I am town... in the best case. In the worst case it will be 1) scum finding an excuse to vote for me 2) people deciding that they have little else to go off of and voting for me from Paranoia.

The fact is putting me to duel on day 1 gives town the least possible information. The duel should be between a scummy person and a lurk fuck forcing people to take a stand. We want all of our gladiates to make scum make a choice and create as many associatives as possible.

If I don't have the sword tomorrow, I'm going to be dueling who I think is scum very likely. Simply because then my reads will have matured a little, day 2 votes have a lot less for people to hide behind in terms of reasoning, and it makes people take an actual stand on my alignment instead of playing the Mastina game of "well she could be scum but I dunno" until the cows come home.

Yeah, I think it is. You only learn about how people feel about them... without any of their reads being checked. It's too easy to put a hurt on someone in the public eye and parrot people's thinking at them. People want to be agreed with and seen as "right". Most people would ignore it. It can't go that way.

It's only a one day thing and if the whole town was "big personalities" the overton window would shift towards even bigger ones within that group. Having less loud less big personalities is required, inevitable, and over time it functions to assist the game. It's just day 1 you can't do it without being punished and losing a lot of valuable info.

generally don’t have strong scumreads this early in the game and that is true for 98% of my towngames.

I rarely have strong scumreads on D1, I am truly envious of those that do and I’m trying to figure out why that is.

I dislike meta in most cases. It's not even your lack of strong scumreads it's your lack of any scumreads at all that I can see. you don't even have a single scumlean on anyone? it's making you hard to read. S_S as well for the same reason.

okay you make this argument but you also ignore other people like me who say you wouldn't win any of the gladiates against anyone except maybe UT based on how many Hurts you have vs literally anyone else.

I don't have the second most hurts, tbh. At least I don't think I do.

I think I have a good % chance to win against any of those 3. Even if you think that's wrong, certainly by ratio comparisson, I have a way better chance than dueling MARIA.

Cause the only duel you had a chance vs was UT and even that you might've lost. When you're in such a shitty spot you have to make the risky play. Guess thats me~

I encourage people to think critically about Maria's motivations, her posting here and prior to the gladiate, how she's behaved this day, ISO her and really clear your mind and perspective to try and see the attack vector where she's scum.

Zooming in the first time, I felt like it almost had words in it. Very cool affect. Glad the Phoenix gets love, it's the best type of bird. Id Say favorite mythical creature, but Kitsunes anf Dragons are 1 and 2. Its a good 3rd though,

Phoenixes are very... me. They're my favourite thing. I love fire, I love birds, I love strong birds of prey... it all kind of works out. It's a good symbol for me.

This is a bad idea on Day 1 though. With no associatives, if you put me in a duel day 1 it will become about me and not the opponent. It will be a vote on whether people believe I am scum or I am town... in the best case. In the worst case it will be 1) scum finding an excuse to vote for me 2) people deciding that they have little else to go off of and voting for me from Paranoia.

The fact is putting me to duel on day 1 gives town the least possible information. The duel should be between a scummy person and a lurk fuck forcing people to take a stand. We want all of our gladiates to make scum make a choice and create as many associatives as possible.

If I don't have the sword tomorrow, I'm going to be dueling who I think is scum very likely. Simply because then my reads will have matured a little, day 2 votes have a lot less for people to hide behind in terms of reasoning, and it makes people take an actual stand on my alignment instead of playing the Mastina game of "well she could be scum but I dunno" until the cows come home.

No one on the list of big personalities should be dueling people day 1. It's too galvanizing. Force of personality, in one direction or the other, will be a huge confounding factor and ruin too many connections.

Beyond this post, Maria never again acknowledges that it would be bad for me to duel day 1, despite agreeing with me here.

This includes when she was prompted to comment on a possible Elsa v. LLD duel. No mention of it being a bad pairing or trying to stop it, just saying she thinks Elsa hasn't done anything scummy (stopping short of calling her town, which is a very very scummy thing to do because it betrays Maria knows Elsa v. Me is TvT and wanted to lynch me, and then use my flip to lynch Elsa). If Maria were town, she'd have brought it up and pushed for something else.

But she was content to let it happen because it favoured scum heavily.

This is part of the reason why I town read Elsa, btw. There's other personality based reasons, but Maria's interactions with the Elsa v. LLD situation betrayed a TvT perspecitve on that duel and a scum motivation for letting it occur.

Dunn's been wrong on me before. Don't take his word for law although I don't know how this is "weird coming from me" given he gave no context on why that was weird from me. I don't get the point you're trying to make here
