I for one am sick of all these Pikachus in the game. We have normal Pikachu, tiny Pikachu, cat Pikachu, ball Pikachu, tiny blue Pikachu, plant Pikachu, big Pikachu, dog blue cat Pikachu, ninja Pikachu, and red cat Pikachu.

Link, Young Link, Toon Link, Meta Knight, Shulk, Cloud, and Mii Swordfighter are all sword users but for some reason nobody mentions them when bitching about FE characters all being sword users.

The FE characters play differently, at least the non-echo ones do.

It's also worth noting that if Smash Ultimate hadn't taken the "Everyone is here!" approach we probably would have gotten Marth, maybe Robin/Corrin, and Byleth as DLC as characters rotated out.

I'm not arguing that. However, Marth and Chrom have a Mario/Luigi relationship, not a Mario/Dr. Mario relationship.

The most important part of the announcement was that Spirit Battles that later got DLC Mii Fighter costumes will be replaced by the Mii Fighter.

Why is this important? Because it means that the Geno suit is still a possibility.
