So two major apologies are owed to the game.

1) With regards to Mastina's role: I never so much as considered the role being used in that manner. It created an awful game experience and created a train of replace outs that were my fault as a mod. I will be a lot more careful about making sure that something like that never happens again in one of my games.

2) With regards to roles in general: I did a poor job as a mod. I decided to make roles that did a lot more things than usual, with a lot of different ideas behind interactions, but I did a very poor job of executing them as a mod. The complexity required me to spend hours calculating night actions and even then I'd miss things. The role PMs were objectively incomplete in terms of understanding what people's roles did, and things like NicoRobin's "role cop" that was actually a follower should never have slipped by me.

I'm sorry and it won't happen again. That said...

Scum had some insanely strong powrrs but they took finesse to use

Varsoon being lynched on his own paranoia was very bad for scum, I balanced it as essentially a free mislynch

Like all you had to do with that PR was not claim it and activate it at day start and town is highly unlikely to all vote the same person, so at the cost of your role being confscum you can murder anyone. Scum theme this game was the best defense is a good offense and they had a lot of ways to kill threats to them.

I don't think upicks are the format for factional scum actions unless there's a coherent theme around them.

It's a principle thing as opposed to a mechanical thing

For example in my first upick scum were "enemies of free will" so a factional roleblocker or director would have made sense.

But there was no coherent identity for the scumteam beyond hey these guys are mafia in this game so it doesn't feel right to give them factional actions.

And the original overarching theme of the setup which I scrapped because unpredictable D1 + it didn't feel right anymore wouldn't have made sense with factional abilities eithet

I had this Shakespeare in love thing planned out where I was going to link the scumteam roles to things in the protagonists life with the end reveal that the entire upick was a child playing with toys but I ended up scrapping the flavor

I don't think it would be worth doing unless scum absolutely needed strongman access. In my mind the gladiator would be used to force lynches on threats and keep scummates alive and if things got really bad they could nocturne ulr someone out of the game. Things didn't play like that unfortunately but I don't think it came to design flaws as much as I think scum cornered themselves. Town only had 4 clears, 2 pseudoclears, and a shit ton of scummy roles. If town had lynched the people Mastina gladiated instead of nightkilling them the game would have been very different

I pmed the people I could but most of the people I'd ask had already been in the game and replaced out. Modkilling was an absolute end solution after a slot was absent for weeks and if you truly think I acted inappropriately you're welcome to bring it up to the modteam but I doubt anyone will agree with you.
