Not necessarily. It might still be a good idea to play D1, or at least play D1 until we get to a consensus townread to start off the random lynching. (That way town can feel comfortable with that person excluding themself and their lover from the first random pool.)

The plan could be improved further with a consensus locktown read picking every random lynch and excluding themself and their lover from every pool, though the EV of that is obviously dependent on the chance that the player selected for this would be scum.
