Of all tyrannies,a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I'd like to see them get a wildcard spot as underdogs. Good pickup by Jax in Kressler. Cheap too, Browns shoulda asked for more.

I don't really watch college football and I'm, not a scout but I've read things that really knock on Allen and some ppl think that the Browns shouldn't take him. Obviously the Browns are going to go with Taylor for atleast this year. I think they take the best QB @ #4.

TIAM, I think your arguments about QB's are bad. I mean, at the NFL lvl you are facing better defenses so a good college game doesn't necessarily translate to a good NFL game but winning Heisman and going early round=//=bust.

Sure but avoiding a QB just b/c they won a Heisman b/ OMG history seems like a dumb thing to do. Football is a team sport so you could still be a good QB and not win a SB if the team is bad but if you are picking #1 you don't have that good of team anyways so...

He
COULD
theoretically. I really don't see a need to write him off though b/c history. I think your argument might point more towards Heisman voters being shitters than whether or not the QB's are good or not.

by rub I meant y the Browns shouldn't have drafted Mayfield. I liked the pick. The CB pick might have been a reach but I think that was kinda a pr move to get a hometown guy but they could have traded down and got him later right?

Bradford is pretty good. I mean, I could see him being rusty with his latest injury but if he's like he was with the Vikes early season I don't really see Rosen replacing him.

like lol they pay $20 mill for Bradford to ride the bench. I guess urs possible that they thought they wouldn't get a starting QB in the first round. I think they'll give Bradford a chance to play.

ok?

Anyways. I'm not sure why we signed Dion Lewis like at all. Like I guess the Titans are sticking with the same 2 back approach but Derrick Henry should be the "lead" back. If the Titans intend on doing that then I'm not sure why he'd agree to join the Titans unless the promised some 50/50 role or some such.

I still don't see why its a big deal. I guess from my POV it's funky to talk about 2018 season stuff in a 2017 thread. If it's just a matter of putting more content here I (or you? or anyone *cough* mods *cough*) could post more about various football topics and we could all argue/discuss like Bells holdout or wish Demarco Muarry our best wishes or something.

It's just the evolution of the game. RBs are still pretty important but they've become less important in the modern pass-heavy game. Unless I'm mistaken Bell is getting 14 million this year (I'd happily take that!) He's 26 and thus likely has 3 good years left. I mean it's certainly possible that he could still be productive at 30 and beyond but I think the Steelers don't want to risk that and I wouldn't be surprised if that's what the Steelers are trying to do. I feel like it would be good for Bell to sign a new 4-year deal but then maybe he and his camp are afraid that teams may not want a 30-year-old RB despite his pedigree. Or maybe it's not the length of the contract but the $$$. Maybe Bell wants more than $56 million over the next 4 years or something. I'm not sure whats going on but I think Bell
SHOULD
get paid but Bell should like not be greedy and want way too much money.

I don't think that that letting a kicker go is really tanking. I don't think Hurns is horrible and Beasly is a poor mans Edleman. This was setup to be a run first team. Or did you mean something else?

it's been said that he'll return to the team week 7. I don't really think the Steelers going RBBC would really solve anything. The pass-heavy play calling was their bad thing from last week. Their D (or lack thereof) is the biggest prob.

I think Denver was willing to trade for him but I think the 49ers wanted too much. Then he left SF and Denver wanted him still but they didn't offer him what he felt he was worth. He had a visit with Seattle but they didn't sign him and then the Ravens were gonna sign him and then his girl started calling the owner a plantation owner or some such nonsense and I don't know why at all. So the Ravens were like "fuck that noise".

But take the idea that he probably isn’t back material, don’t know how much of a coach he can be (big part of backup qbs), he hasn’t played professional football in about two years, and the media circus that would happen when he is signed, it really shouldn’t be surprising that he remains unsigned.
If he's being blacklisted the bold can't be true but if the bold is true then he's not be blacklisted. There's a fine line between "teams don't want him b/c X reason(s)" and some conspiracy to keep teams from signing him. I feel like the biggest piece of evidence AGAINST his collusion case is that he was given an opportunity in both Denver and Baltimore and he burned those bridges. The NFL, as in life, has more to do with just being "good" but you also need interpersonal skills and I think he has 0 of those.

On the flip side, the biggest piece of evidence for his collusion case is that bad QBs do get to play. But coaches/gm's have egos and when they draft a pick they want to play him and hope he gets better with time and experience. See Jarred Goff/Mitch Tribusky, though I think most ppl think he(they) got better with a coaching change.

"comes off 1-10 season*

*gets asked to play for 6 or 7 million a year*

Guy bet on himself and lost. That's totally his and his agents (if he has one) fault. I mean getting a 2-year deal to come in and compete with Lynch and Siemain (and Osweiler?) seems more than reasonable but God forbid he's not handed the starting job, to begin with.

I'm sure there are other examples (better?) but Case Keenum signed with the Vikings last year for 2 million and now he's got a cool 2 year 36 million dollar contract.

I think he's just saying that Kaep would be a better fit in places that already have a starting running QB.

I mean, Kaep went 3-16 in his last two years in SF. It's possible that Kaep is decent on a good team but at the end of the day winning is what matters the most in the NFL.

https://overthecap.com/position/quarterback/

With the exception of Foles and a few others, it seems like the highest paid backups are 8 million a year though there are alot that are less than 7 million. Kaep already passed on 7 million and teams might have not wanted to pay more than 7 million for a QB that was benched and had a losing record.

As if a full academic scholarship isn't paying them. Although non-scholarship athletes should maybe get some money and the NCAA should maybe be less strict on an athletes ability to make $$$ based on endorsements and the jazz.

If my argument was "there's no academic fraud in college sports" you'd a point but it's not so....

Just face it, you aren't able to form a decent argument why they should be paid so you are trying to "win" a totally different argument but no one really expected you to form an intelligent opinion anyways.

I kinda agree with this. He seems to shit the bed at times but then I've also seen him make some really nice throws. I guess the criticism here is that he only does well b/c of Nagy's system. I think they roll with him for the time being,

Also, who is ready for the Rams-Chiefs SB?

So Pats vs. Chiefs in the AFC @ Arrowhead

and Rams vs. (probably, hopefully) Saints.

Hopefully the conference games are much better than what the rest of the playoffs have been. Oh, the Rams-Cowboys was actually good.

yeah but there was a previous pass interference not called on the Rams. So the Rams got away with two PI calls. So yeah, Saints got kinda screwed.

there was a whole thing on yahoo yesterday about how their performance was bad and it should have been all rap given that they were in Atlanta.

I figure that they had Maroon 5 play b/c they are like in house talent. Not everyone that watches football likes rap. The biggest two rock bands from Atlanta are Sevendust and Collective Soul, which I think are both great but not exactly household names.

TBF, this is from 2015 so it's pretty likely the statics are different but likely similar.

Supposedly. he was offered to play in the AAF but declined.

The way I kinda see it is if Kaep had such a strong case why does he ever settle unless there's more to the settlement than just $$$$.

I think we may have given up too much for it though. I liked Jabril Peppers. Our team has a lot of big egos on it now. Hope it pays off
Does this mean the Giants go after Muarry or that other QB, Hopkins?

I bet this is to A.) Light a fire under Rosen's ass and B.) try to trick folks into thinking they are taking Muarry.

I don't think Muarry's height is that big of an issue.

The Browns hype has been a thing for the last few years. I think they have some talent and I'd like to see them succeed but I still think the Steelers are the best in the AFC North. Brown leaving is a much bigger loss than Bell but I don't think Brown is even that big of loss. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Baltimore repeat either.
