This forum is specifically for discussing non-Mafia games
(board, card, video, we're not picky)
.
Playing
such games should happen in the Mish Mash forum, of course.

Who here plays? (Duel Links or just TCG and online)

okay aside from that talk about game here kthx :)

BTW If you are thinking of getting into the game, play the TCG. Duel Links is a money sink, and with all TCG simulators (not endorsed by Konami btw) you have all of the cards you could possibly want for free.
https://www.duelingbook.com/ - Use this for online play. There are other simulators that you can download, but this is the best one by far because its manual so it feels like the card game.

powercreep will always be a thing for the game. It has to deal with the fact that the core, YGO is a game where you are able to play your whole entire hand t1. I don't think there's a card game where you can currently do this that isn't YGO. And with no set rotation, they need to rotate out old decks via the banlist to make sure their new decks see play.

Now, there certainly has been some degenerate shit because of this. 2018 for about 11 months consisted of Konami not banning this card because lol its a protagonists ace monster or whatever. Then we have the danger cards that were printed. For example, "Danger!? Jackalope?" reads:
Danger!? Jackalope?'s Card Text wrote:You can reveal this card in your hand; your opponent randomly chooses 1 card from your entire hand, then you discard the chosen card. Then, if the discarded card was not "Danger!? Jackalope?", Special Summon 1 "Danger!? Jackalope?" from your hand, and if you do, draw 1 card. If this card is discarded: You can Special Summon 1 "Danger!" monster from your Deck in Defense Position, except "Danger!? Jackalope?". You can only use this effect of "Danger!? Jackalope?" once per turn.
All of the danger monsters read "You can reveal this card in your hand; your opponent randomly chooses 1 card from your entire hand, then you discard the chosen card. Then, if the discarded card was not "danger name here", Special Summon 1 "danger name here" from your hand, and if you do, draw 1 card."

What these were able to do is faciliate a bunch of First Turn Kills (FTKs). The first being abusing Cannon Solider the 2nd being Abusing Slash Draw.

However a lot of this (and a lot more that I didn't mention) was dealt with as of recently, so now the format is fairly interactive.
Granted, decks are always going to be able to set up multiple disruptions, but the game is still very interactive because of it. And that's just how the game is atm, decks have to setup 1 or 2 interuptions and/or negates, otherwise they're not relevant.
