The sun was low over the horizon in a small town somewhere in rural Kansas...

“Silence!” the mayor yelled as everyone piled in to the town hall. “How do you expect this meeting to begin if you all are making such a racket in here?”

A few murmurs were heard around the room as everyone began to quiet down.

“Thank you. Now, I’m sure you all know why we’re here. Our town has been invaded by some of the most despicable people ever to roam this good green Earth.”

“The Italian Mafia?” interjected someone near the back.

“NO! Don’t be silly. What we have,” the mayor stated, “are polygamists.”

Hushed whispers spread throughout the room as one member of the town got to his feet.

“No offense mayor,” he began, “but don’t you think we should be worrying about things a bit more serious than polygamists?”

“No. We have tradition to think about here. We can’t allow them to ruin marriage.”

“Mr. Mayor. You’re worried about the sanctity of marriage? We have homosexual and heterosexual relationships in this town. Why shouldn’t we allow polygamists?”

“Why are you questioning me? I'm the mayor. I know what's best for..." He suddenly cut off. "You.” the mayor replied with disgust, “you’re one of….them. Aren’t you?”

“No, Mr. Mayor, I’m just a…”

The townsperson cut off his sentence as the lights shut off. More confused whispers spread throughout the room. The lights then came on as suddenly as they shut off. Everything seemed normal until someone screamed.

Everyone looked towards the front of the room to see the mayor lying on the floor, bleeding. He motioned the town members forward and had one more thing to say before his death.

“Find. Those. Polygamists. Then you’ll find my murderer.”

He then slumped over, dead. His assistant stood up and addressed the town.

“The mayor has a point here about the polygamists. After all, he did just die, and he didn't really have any enemies before today. As a final thank you to him, let’s find these filthy polygamists and get rid of them. However we have to.”

RULES OF THE GAME

1. I am the mod. My color is dark green, please do not use it.
2. I am fallible. If you believe I have made a mistake, for instance in a votecount, kindly point it out and I will fix it. If you have more serious grievances, please PM me.
3. This is a game. The point is to have fun. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. I also would appreciate it if you refrain from profanity. I WILL edit it out if you use it.
4. Do not quote private communications with me or with other players. This includes your role PM. Breaking this rule will result in a modkill.
5. Do not edit or delete your posts, even if you have privileges to do so. It violates the integrity of the game, and screws up the thread. If you post a duplicate post or screw up formatting, let me know, and I’ll fix it.
6 You may not discuss the game outside the thread unless permitted to do so by your role. Feel free to talk to me though, especially if you’re dead. I like talking to players in the game to see what they’re thinking.

. This is not entirely necessary but makes my job easier. For the same reason, please put all votes at the bottom of your posts. You may use nicknames and acronyms as long as it is reasonably clear who you are referring to.
8. A lynch suffers the requirement of a simple majority. A deadline lynch requires simple plurality of votes. If two players are tied at deadline the player who received the final vote first will be lynched.
9. Once a majority is reached, that player is lynched and no further votes or unvotes will be counted.
10. Once you are dead, you are dead(and so is your lover). No more posting, not even a "Bah!" post. Save it for the endgame discussion.
11. This game will have set deadlines. Because of the fragile nature of this game, and it’s short length, each of the two possible days will have 5 week deadlines.
12. In keeping with the deadlines, good activity levels are expected. If you don't post in a 72 hour period, you will be prodded. If you don't post within 72 hours of receiving a prod, you will be replaced. If you have to be prodded 3 times in a day or four times overall, you may be replaced without warning. Please inform me or post in your sig if you will be V/LA.
13. If you fake breaking a rule, it will incur the same punishments as actually breaking the rule.
14. If I think of a rule I have forgotten, I reserve the right to edit the rules and enforce the rule.

No. Because one person will be lynched, the second will die, leaving 6 townies versus 4 mafia. There need to be 2 mislynches in order for the mafia to win, as it will then be 4 v 4, and the mafia cannot be lynched.

Accusations flew around the room as everyone accused everyone else of murder and polygamy.

Eventually, the majority of fingers were pointed towards Panzerjager.

"We know it's you, you filthy polygamist. Fess up now."

"But...but...I...dcorbe, help me out here."

"No, Panzer, I want a divorce."

The crowd gasped, then became bloodthirsty. They dragged Panzer

and

dcorbe to the lake, grabbed their wallets, tied their hands and feet, and threw them in together.

"Now," the mayor's assistant said to the crowd, "we can find the proof we need of the filthy polygamy going on here."

He looked through the pictures in the wallets, but they were all of Panzer and dcorbe together at parties, at home, and on vacation.

"What?" he said, incredulous, "these...these people aren't who we're looking for. They were a normal couple, no murder, no polygamy, no nothing. We need to keep looking for them. Get to it."

Grumbles filled the room, but eventually, the other 10 townspeople got back to finding the polygamists.

Fingers fly during the second half of the meeting. Everyone is worried that the polygamists will take over the town. Eventually, interest is pointed towards the quiet pair of OhGodMyLife and Grimmy. Everyone, and I mean

everyone

else was curious as to why they were so quiet. OhGodMyLife began stammering.

"Uh, uh, uh, look at bionicchop and ZombieSlayer. We may be quiet, but they're definitely polygamists."

That defense wasn't bought by the the others, however, and eventually enough fingers pointed at him that he and Grimmy were dragged to the seashore cliffs and pushed off towards the rocky waters below. Unfortunately for the town, however, nobody followed them to try to save them immediately. Dejected, they expected defeat. Suddenly, they heard sobbing behind them and turned around.

Farside was sobbing on Gorrad's shoulder.

"How could you do that to them? I loved them ju...."

She cut off sharply after she realized what she said. She looked at the angry faces around them, and nodded knowingly at Gorrad. The two of them pulled small guns out of their pockets, pointed them around at the others, and backed slowly towards the cliff.

They turned towards the water, looked each other in the eyes one last time, and jumped to be with their lovers once more.

The town sighed in relief. They found the mayor's murderers and rid the town of the polygamists in their midst. They could finally get back to a normal life.

On the setup:
Interesting setup, I kinda like it, but I, in addition to Gorrad, found it skewed in favor of the scum, due to there being four of them, and the fact that they wouldn't bus each other to a lynch, so it needed all but one townie to lynch scum Day 1 and every single townie to lynch scum Day 2. I wonder how well "Lover Multiball" would work, with two pairs of mafia lovers and the four pairs of town lovers. Something to try in the future, perhaps, in addition to this being run again, because I'd like to see this again.


On the actual game:
Pregame: I randomized roles and then had to look at them again, due to the fact that the last 4 people on the sign-up list were all mafia, including the three people in the game that I knew best. I just find that weird.

gameplay:
k7 and w_f lurking, dcorbe being dumb. I honestly don't blame town for that lynch at all. That was, IMO, the right lynch for Day 1.
Day 2 was much more interesting with all the different bandwagons. I thought farside's vote of OGML came at just about the perfect time, and that Xtoxm's unvote could've sealed town to a loss if not for the fact that, from what I saw, both OGML/Grimmy and farside/Gorrad did a bunch of defending of each other. I also thought that scum, except for farside, were quite tunnel visioned day 2 and didn't really comment on that much outside of how bc/zs/xtoxm/z were scum.

Adel's replacing back in after not picking up her original role PM was also a huge boost to the town. If not for that, game would've been much different. I think that if bionic could have made his points slightly better, town would've had this one earlier. I felt like he was putting too much stock in the "I know I'm town" argument as opposed to "this is why OGML is scum."

So, great job town.


For those of you interested in my next game, here's a slight preview.

I expect to have much better flavor for this one since it's my own theme.
Here's what I hope can be a selling point: Everyone gets a unique role PM. Any of you who want to pre-/in can have priority over the other pre-/ins I have if you would like, since you were, for the most part, a great group to mod for.

@hasdgfas: I think the only mistake you made was numbering the lover couples (if you only numbered the townie lover couples) in the quicktopic threads. You handled bio's proposed claim pretty well. I think I would've allowed it, but I have a slightly different perspective on that sort of thing than most mods here.

Yeah, I realized that as soon as bio brought it up. I just had them there to keep them straight in my head, but I could've done that by just bookmarking them and numbering them as opposed to actually posting it in the QT thread. I tried to quash it immediately, however, because I realized it was a mistake right away.

Thanks. Profanity is kind of a pet peeve of mine in mafia games. I feel it just detracts from the argument for me. All my games will have no profanity.

How many people are in the scifi/fantasy game? I think it sounds great.

It's a 12 person setup. I've got something like 7 pre-/ins, but a few of those are questionable at this point. If you want /in, I'll give you priority along with the others in this game(not k7) who are interested.
