I'd like to start development on something quite similar to Frozen Angel's DOTA Mafia Project. I'm thinking:
Advance Wars
Splatoon
For the source flavor.
Anyone with me?

Don't think you should include Trump
Discussion of ongoing presidencies should probably not be a part of this game
tl;dr: He's going to be doing stuff as the game goes on: not a good idea to put his actions in a box now.

Anyone up for Hateful Eight Mafia?
Also interested in running a game I don't remember the name of, but each player can submit any PR action each night, and it will happen (disregarding roleblocks of course).

That would be fascinating. You'd have to define some parameters of what actions are acceptable, though, or you could get some crazy shit happening.
nothing game breaking, high-powered abilities will be limited use
thanks gt for the refresher

In post 4604, Varsoon wrote:Curious if a game that's mafia at its core but has an added prisoner's dilemma game would work or if it'd be too easy for players to 'game'.
Basically, I just finished the video game Virtue's Last Reward. In that, there are 9 players all competing to earn 9 points. Whoever gets to 9 points wins. If you lose all your points, you die. At regular intervals, players are paired up to vote against each other: they can either ally or betray. If both players ally, they earn 2 points. If both betray, their points don't change. If one allies and the other betrays, then the allying player loses 2 points and the betraying player gains 3 points. On top of that, at least one of the players in the game is a killer, complicating how people think they should be allying/betraying.
I was wondering if this would translate to a workable mafia setup and if people would want to play it. I'd probably keep normal lynch/kill mechanics but I'd also have the whole ally/betray game as an alternate win condition and way to kill players.
I'm curious if anyone would be interested in the flavor, dunno how many people are familiar with 999 or VLR, but I think those games would appeal a lot to mafia players.
Vanilla game with those mechanics?

Basically, it takes advantage of my college studies of the American Presidency, and each person gets a president.
Someone had a similar idea I think but yeah that sounds like fun

Sounds interesting but pls no spoilers cos I've only watched I few episodes of the first season and I want to go through it clean (even though I have already seen a probably inconsequential episode from a later season with my sister, who got me interested in the show)

If anyone is unfamiliar with the website, you can input any sentence, phrase, paragraph, etc., and it's translated into a foreign language and then back into English numerous times until the phrase is usually a jumbled unclear mess. Would anyone find this fun?
I would
But what prevents someone from lying about it

The way it’d work is everyone would have their role and told what team they’re on but they will also be given a minor mission to try to complete, each mission is small and wouldn’t be too difficult but everyone must try to complete their mission before the game ends, without going into specifics (because part of the game is not knowing what the different missions are) the missions could be stuff like, stay alive till a certain point or outlive a certain player or find out certain information, nothing too crazy but it adds an extra level to the game and strategy, I’ve tested out the game in another place I play and it definitely seemed like one of the most interesting games we’ve had, especially day 1
But yeah, what do you guys think? Do you think it’d be something cool that’d work here? As I said I’ve only just joined this site and currently in the middle of my first newbie game and after looking at the wiki I believe I gotta wait a long time to be able to mod games and stuff but hey, let’s get the hype train going now xD hahaha
Radja actually ran a game like that once with secret wincons

Evolution mechanic:
- Certain pokémon have the ability to evolve
- All pokémon are informed if they have the ability to evolve.
- Evolution roleblocks the player evolving.
- Evolution will change a players role, ranging from minimally to heavily.
- Players are not informed how their role might change with an evolution, but their alignment will remain the same
tl;dr uninformed self inflicted role change.
Im running Gen 1 28p on my home forum and If I can I will run Gen 2 9p here. The game will be role madness.
Looks cool, I had a game on my homesite like this with even more crazy mechanics

Would anyone be interesting in games based on either Fire Emblem 6, Fire Emblem 7, or the Tellius Games (and maybe Sacred Stones)? I’m pretty sure there are but I still want to put it out there that I have ideas for them, albeit extremely nebulous

There have been several run on site before; you could easily find them in the archives, I would think. Could be time for another, and I'd be willing to play or help design, probably would prefer the latter since I've got some ideas.
I still have the Fire Emblem game in mind and have an idea for an interesting mechanic, but I have something else I wanna do before that one.

In post 4823, Cook wrote:As an actual board game I was working on a The Thing-style game (this was developed before Among Us surged) where 5 players were trying to keep an arctic base running by collecting food and fixing failing stuff, meanwhile an unknown number of infected players would be uninformed and working against the science team. The two unique twists were that since it was modless you had to decide via unanimity of surviving players to end the game when you thought the infected were eradicated or if you were trying to get endgamed as an infected, and the other one was that a scientist (town) could think "I'm going to win this alone" and win it for themselves by killing everyone else.
Long story short on that one, I'd be intrigued to play/mod a Mafia game where the winners were the ones who were alive and you could be a 3p on the "town" side.
This sounds like Project Winter actually

I’m considering running a Survivor Legends UPick in the somewhat near future and I kinda wanna hear what people would want from it, would a more traditional mafia experience but with roles based on the player picks be preferred or should I strive for a Mafia-Survivor hybrid? Would a Redemption Island/other return method be wanted? How to integrate “challenges”?

Game starts stupid large but has a TON of killing roles. Would almost certainly be multiball

Problem is a chunk of mafia players are basically incapable of masking their posting style, or just aren’t aware of what makes their posting style so distinct
