This game takes me a long way back. I wonder how long before I forget about it and abandon my NationState again.

The Sultanate of KhanScum is a fledgling, environmentally stunning nation, renowned for its absence of drug laws. Its compassionate, cynical population of 5 million are ruled with an iron fist by the dictatorship government, which ensures that no-one outside the party gets too rich. In their personal lives, however, citizens are relatively unoppressed; it remains to be seen whether this is because the government genuinely cares about its people, or if it hasn't gotten around to stamping out civil rights yet.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, corrupt, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Defence, and Social Welfare. The average income tax rate is 46%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Beef-Based Agriculture.

Crime -- especially youth-related -- is relatively low, thanks to a well-funded police force. KhanScum's national animal is the Rabid Horse, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Mongol.

Man.. Letting Employers fire people for no reason really, really improved the economy.

That and legalizing drugs and euthanasia..
