Family Game Night 1

It's time for anoter Family Game Night! Time once again to dabble in some classic and maybe not so classic tabletop games!

Rules

There will be a series of board/tabletop games played. Each round there will be a Round Table game and a Duel. The winner(s) of the Round Table game will be safe from elimination, however the loser will have to choose another player to duel (or will face each other in the result of multiple losers). The loser of that game will be eliminated. You may not PM other players about this game unless explicitly told to.


Round Table:

Each round all players will face off in a Round Table game. The winners of each game will receive a small advantage in the next one as well as be safe and cannot be chosen as an opponent in the Duel.

After Round 6 only 2 players will remain and will face off in a final 2 battle. The winner of 2 out of 3 board games will be the champion.


Duel:

Each round the loser of the Round Table game will be forced to enter a Duel. They may choose any player who did not win to face off with. If there are 2 losers who tie for last place in the Round Table game then they will both enter the Duel. If more than 2 players are tied for last, the winner will choose a loser and that player must choose another loser to duel.

These are a list of Duel games that will be played. Veto process has changed since the first game. This time, all players will submit 1 game they wish to veto. Then a random game will be decided by the remaining 3 games. The games this time will be:

-Cribbage
-Love Letter
-Welcome to the Dungeon
-Qwixx
-Killer VS Inspector
-Santorini
-Mint Works
-Hive
-Codenames
-Raptor

3 of the Duels that are not used will be used in the Final 2.

Current Game Rules:

How to play:

How this specific challenge will work:

The goal of the game is to end the game with the most victory points. Each game round will be split into different turns. On a player's turn they will take a role card that hasn't been selected in the current round. That role will allow them to perform an action. After they have performed that action all other players will also perform that action in turn order. The player who chose the role will get a certain benefit with the role.

After all players have taken that action, the next player will choose a role card not yet selected in the round and you repeat the above steps. After each player has chosen a role card for the round, the round ends and the First player token (or Mayor token) will shift to the next player. Any role cards that weren't chosen in the previous round get a doubloon on them and all previously chosen role cards are made available again.

Setup:

Each player will start with 2 doubloons.

Each player will start with 1 plantation tile (the 1st and 2nd player will start with an indigo tile, the 3rd player will start with a corn tile)

Role Cards and Actions:

When you take a role you get to perform a special benefit with the role. After you finish your turn with the role all other players get to take the role action in turn order (but without the benefit)

The SettlerPlayers will be placing new plantations on their island spaces. Each player will have 12 Plantation Spaces (one of which will already be placed from the game start)

The player who chose The Settler may choose from any face-up plantation tile OR may take a Quarry tile.

All other players may then take a plantation tile in turn order and add it to their island.

Plantation/Quarry distribution:
-8 Quarry Tiles
-12 indigo
-11 sugar
-10 corn
-9 tobacco
-8 coffee


The MayorPlayers will be placing new colonists on their island to operate buildings

The player who chose The Mayor gains 1 colonist from the supply. Then one at a time (starting with The Mayor) players will take one colonist off the colonist ship until it is empty. For example, if I am the mayor and there are 4 colonists on the colonist ship, I first would gain 1 colonist from the supply. Then I would take 1 colonist from the ship, the other two players would then both take 1 each, then I would get the remaining colonist giving me a total of 3 (other players would only have 1).

After getting the colonists players may place these new colonists on plantations, quarries, or buildings. If a tile is unoccupied to capacity it WILL NOT FUNCTION.

Players may also move any previously placed colonists to new locations if they wish. Any colonists that cannot be placed are stored on a player's windrose and can be placed on a future Mayor action.

After this is finished the colonist ship is refilled with colonists. For each empty space on the combined players BUILDINGS a colonist is added to the colonist ship. There will be a minimum of at least 3 added however.


The BuilderPlayers will be building buildings on their island. Each player has 12 building spaces on their island BUT some buildings take up multiple spaces.

The player who chose this role can immediately build one building for one doubloon less than the normal cost. This is placed on any empty space on a player's board. All other players will then get the chance to build a building in player order at normal cost (minus quarry price reduction)

Each occupied quarry a player has will reduce the cost of the building by 1. However this reduction can only be applied a certain number of times depending on what column it is in (column 1 can only be reduced by 1, column 2 can only be reduced by 2, etc). Therefore if someone has 3 quarries and builds a building from column 1, the building's cost can only be reduced by 1.

This image shows the columns each building belongs to. So column 1's price can only be reduced by 1 for 1 quarry, column 2 can be reduced 2 by...column 4/5 can be reduced by 4 for 4 quarries

Rules for buildings can be found in the PDF on page 8. Only 2 of each building are in the supply (other than the 2 tile buildings of which there is only 1 in the supply) and you cannot build a building if you already have that building built.


The CraftsmanPlayers will be producing goods.

The player who chose this role takes goods from the supply according to their production ability and places them in their supply. Then all other players gain goods from the supply in turn order. After this is finished, the Craftsman may take 1 additional good of a good they produced this round.

A player CANNOT get goods if there are no more of that goods' tokens in the supply. There are:

-10 corn tokens
-11 sugar and indigo tokens
-9 coffee and tobacco tokens

PRODUCTION:
Production buildings are required along with plantations to produce goods. Corn is the exception to this, corn is just automatically produced.

THESE BUILDINGS WILL ONLY PRODUCE IF BOTH THE PLANTATION AND BUILDING ARE OCCUPIED

-Small indigo plant (produces 1 indigo in the round)
-Large indigo plant (produces up to 3 indigo in the round - 1 for each colonist occupying the building)

-Small sugar mill (produces 1 sugar in the round)
-Large sugar mill (produces up to 3 sugar in the round - 1 for each colonist occupying the building)

-Tobacco storage (produces up to 3 tobacco in the round - 1 for each colonist occupying the building)

-Coffee Toaster (produces up to 2 coffee in the round - 1 for each colonist occupying the building)


The TraderPlayers can sell goods.

The player who chooses this role immediately sells 1 good and gains 1 doubloon plus however much the good is worth. Then in turn order each other player can sell 1 good for normal price.

When selling players must abide by the rules:
-There must be an empty space to sell a good
-Players cannot sell a type of good already at the trading house.

After all players have sold 1 good or passed, the trading house is emptied IF there are four goods on it currently.

Good prices:
-Corn $0
-Indigo $1
-Sugar $2
-Tobacco $3
-Coffee $4


The CaptainPlayers may ship goods

The Captain chooses which goods they want to place on which ship. The captain will gain 1 VP total when he delivers goods for the first time in this phase. After the Captain loads one type of goods on a ship, the next player must load all of their goods on a ship. This goes until all players cannot place any more goods.

Spoiler: Loading and Shipping Rules
When shipping, players must follow these rules:
- Each cargo ship will carry goods of only one kind.
- Players may not load goods on a cargo ship if goods of that same kind are on
one of the other two cargo ships.
- Players may not load goods on a full ship.
- On a player’s turn, he must load goods if he can. However, he may only load one
kind of good and to only one ship.
- When a player loads goods of a kind, he must load as many of that kind as he
can. A player cannot hold back goods when there is space on a ship carrying the
kind of goods he has. If a player has a kind of good that can be loaded on
several empty ships, he must choose the ship where he can load the most goods,
leaving none behind, if possible.
- If a player has several kinds of goods that he can load, he may choose freely
which goods to load. He need not choose the goods that would allow him to load
the most cases.


Victory Points:
For each good a player loads, they earn 1 VP from the VP supply pile. All goods are worth 1 VP regardless of the type.

Storage:
When no more goods can be loaded players store the remaining goods in their supply. Players may only store ONE good. All other remaining goods must be stored in a warehouse. Any remaining goods are lost and returned to their prospective supply piles.



Game End:

The game ends when one of the following happens:
- at the end of the mayor phase there are not enough colonists to fill the colonist
ship as required;
- during the builder phase, at least one player builds on his 12th city space;
- during the captain phase, the last of the VP chips is taken.

The round is finished out (meaning players will still choose roles if they haven't done so already) then the scores are counted up.

Players get points for:
- the value of his VP chips
- the VP value of his buildings
- the extra VP scored by his occupied large buildings

The player with the most VP is the winner! The winning player of this will move on to the FINAL 2. In addition, they will get to veto 2 Duel Game choices for the final Duel Game between the other two players.

Jumble, because you won the previous Round Table you will begin the game with an extra doubloon and will be the first Mayor.

EVERYONE-You have 24 hours to submit a list of Duel Games from most want to veto to least want to veto. We will then start with last place and their highest veto'd game will be veto'd. Then 7th place's highest veto'd game will be veto'd and so on until it gets to 1st place's veto. After all players have veto'd we will be left with 3 Duel games and one will be chosen at random to play.

How to play:

How this specific challenge will work:

The goal of the game is to have 7 or more points at the end of the round. You will do that by using mints and placing them on various locations.

The game is played in several phases...

Development:

The player currently holding the Starting Player Token takes the first turn. On your turn you can either choose the 'Place' action or 'Pass' action. After doing one play will turn over to the other player.

The development phase continues until both players have passed.

>Place-Player chooses an unoccupied Mint Placement Space and places the required mints on the location, giving them that Location's effect

>Pass-The player's turn is over, on their next turn they can either place or pass again.

Upkeep:

-If any player has 7 or more stars in the upkeep phase, the game ends and Scoring commences

-If not, refill the Plan Supply to three face up cards from the Plan Deck. If it's not possible to refill the Plan Supply, the game ends and Scoring commences

-Resolve all "Upkeep" effects on Buildings

-Return all mints on Locations to the supply.

-Each player gains 1 mint

-Go back to the Development Phase

Scoring:

Count the number of stars each player has from Buildings in their Neighborhood, whoever has the most wins!

If two or more players are tied, the player with the smallest Neighborhood wins.

If there is still a tie, the player with the most mints wins.

Cheery Dog, since you have been chosen to challenge in this Duel Game, you may decide who will be the starting player. Please indicate in thread who that will be. If possible I would like to run this game live so if you guys could indicate your availability in thread for Thursday/Friday please let me know!

How to play:

How this specific challenge will work:

The goal of the game is to be the first to control 18 supply centers

The game is split into phases that are treated as years. Each year has a Spring phase and a Fall phase. During each of these phases players will negotiate with other players to decide what they will have their armies and fleets do. For this game outside communication IS allowed so feel free to message other individuals. After the Fall phase players will count their supply centers and either lose or gain units depending on if they have gained or lost supply centers since last year.

Orders:

When writing orders you have several options. You will specify if it is an Army (A) or a Fleet (F) (though it will be obvious from the unit currently in that location):

-Hold: The unit will remain at its current location

-Move: The unit will attempt to move to a new location. If no other units attempt to move to that location, your unit will occupy that location. If there is a tie of power however the units will "bounce" and neither unit will move there. To overcome this, you will need to support a unit there, explained in a bit.

-Support: A unit may assist another unit in moving or holding its position. If this unit is disrupted however the support will be cut off.

-Convoy: An army may move across a fleet to another land location if the fleet submits a 'Convoy' order and is not interrupted.

Retreat:

If a unit is dislodged it will be forced to retreat to a different location. A unit cannot retreat to a province which is occupied, the province the attacker came from, or a province that was left vacant due to a standoff.

Game Over:

The game ends when a player has 18 supply centers. If a stale-mate happens then both players will be winners. The top 3 players will all receive immunity. The top 2 will receive an advantage in the next Round Table.

Players who have 0 supply centers will be the losers of the match. If there are more than 2, the winner will choose a loser to enter the Duel and that player will choose one of the other losers to challenge.

Charles, Vash, and Inspiratieloos won the last Round Table and have the advantage of their choice of country. All other players will randomly receive a country that is left.

The game will start on Monday, deadlines will be 24 hours but with Christmas coming this week I might extend deadlines as people are gonna be busy.

If you fail to submit within a deadline your units will 'hold' automatically. Once I have all submissions I will advance the game.

This is where you buy the workshop. Even if you bought the Landfill your points would still be at 6. Cheery would have then bought the workshop and still won with 7. I think you were shy a point either way. I'm sorry about the confusion, I tried to clear up what I could.

Just for clarification, if I have everyone's orders I will advance the game to the next phase early. HOWEVER if you would not like to "lock in" your orders and want to wait out the deadline please specify when submitting orders. If you don't specify I'll just assume you are good with advancing the game.

Also some rule clarifications:

1. Armies can only move to adjacent lands spaces (except when they are convoyed)
2. Fleets can only move to adjacent water or coastal spaces
3. Units can only support moves to places they can move to (i.e a fleet in Edinburgh can not support a move to Liverpool, but an army in Edinburgh can)
4. Retreats can only be to adjacent provinces, given the above clarifications

Builds are now happening. When building please specify if you wish to build a fleet or an army and which location you wish to build (Must be built at a supply center that you began the game with and it cannot currently be occupied by a unit). Fleets must have access to water to be built in a location (for example Germany cannot build a fleet in Mun because it is land locked but if they wanted to build a fleet in Kie or Ber that is fine).

Russia has 1 SC so they must disband 2 of their units

Builds are now happening. When building please specify if you wish to build a fleet or an army and which location you wish to build (Must be built at a supply center that you began the game with and it cannot currently be occupied by a unit). Fleets must have access to water to be built in a location (for example Germany cannot build a fleet in Mun because it is land locked but if they wanted to build a fleet in Kie or Ber that is fine).

If there is only 1 player with 0 supply centers that player may choose any non-immune player. Only the top 3 are immune, if a stalemate is declared and there is a tie for 3rd the tied players must agree on who is immune.

EDIT: If a stalemate wants to be reached all remaining players must post in thread agreeing. As the game currently stands, France/Turkey would be immune, Austria/Germany must agree on which of them is immune, and Cheery could challenge any non immune player

"Each round the loser of the Round Table game will be forced to enter a Duel. They may choose any player who did not win to face off with. If there are 2 losers who tie for last place in the Round Table game then they will both enter the Duel. If more than 2 players are tied for last, the winner will choose a loser and that player must choose another loser to duel."

How to play:

How this specific challenge will work:

The goal of the game is to have more points than your opponent at the end of the game. You will have this score sheet:

On your turn you will roll 6 dice. 2 dice will be WHITE, 1 die will be RED, 1 BLUE, 1 GREEN, and 1 YELLOW. You must specify when rolling.

When it is your turn, you may utilize the public dice first, then you may combine 1 public die and 1 color die. So for example, lets say this was rolled:

5, 6, 1, 4, 6, 4

When combining the public dice (the white dice) they may be used as any color. So here you could mark off any 11 you want. You would want to mark off a green or a blue 11 most likely though because once you mark a number, you CANNOT mark off any other numbers of that color that are to the left. So if you marked off the green 11 you could no longer mark off the green 12. You would not want to mark off the red 11 because then you couldn't mark off 2 through 10 of red.

You do not have to mark off what the public die roll is but if you don't then you must combine a public die with a color die. If you choose not to mark off any numbers or you are unable to, you must mark off a box in the bottom right corner and you will lose 5 points at the end of the game for each 'x' there. Let's say we marked off the green 11 with the public dice. Now we can use the green 4 and public die with the 6 to make '10' and mark off the green 10. Not a bad turn!

When it is not your turn you have the OPTION of using the public dice if you wish. So for this example, my opponent could also use the 5 and 6 to mark off an 11 on their sheet. This is optional when it is not your turn.

The Lock at the end of the row:

Once you have 5 boxes of 1 color marked off, you get the ability to try and lock that color. If you are able to mark off the number on the far right of a color you also get to mark off the lock!

For example if I have 5 boxes marked off in green I gain the ability to mark off the '2' if I can get a dice combination. Once I do, I mark off the '2' AND the lock, giving me a total of 7 marked boxes for green. Once a color is locked no one can mark off that color any further and that die color is removed from the game.

Ending the game:

The game ends when either 2 colors have been locked OR someone has marked all 4 of their -5 point spaces in the bottom right.

Scoring:

For each row you will count how many boxes you have marked off. You will go to the 'Kreuze' row and find the number you had and then look underneath on the 'Punkte' row to see how many points you get for that color. For example with our green row we have 7 boxes marked so we would get 28 points for that color.

After you have added all of those up you will subtract 5 points for each box you have marked in the bottom right.

The player who has more points at the end of the duel wins!

How to play:

How this specific challenge will work:

This game is a tile drafting game. Each round you will have a set of tiles in your hand and you will choose 2. You are working with your neighbors to try and build cities with the most points. At the end of the game your score will be whichever of your two cities is worth the least points. The person who has the highest score wins!

Gameplay:

For Round One you will have 7 tiles in your hand. You will perform the following steps in order:
Choose-Pick 2 tiles from your hand and pass the rest of the tiles to the player below you.
Reveal-Everyone shows which 2 tiles they have chosen from their hand.
Place-You may now discuss where you would like to place your tiles. You will place 1 of your tiles in the city with the player that is above you on the player list and below you on the player list. When placing tiles they must touch previously placed tiles (or for the first turn the 2 tiles must touch each other)
NOTE: Tiles for a city MUST be arranged in a 4x4 grid at the end of the game. This means you cannot have a row or column with more than 5 tiles in it, or orient tiles in such a way that a 4x4 grid is not possible.
Repeat-Repeat this process until there is only 1 city tile left in the stack (Choose/Reveal/Place will occur a total of 3 times for Round One)

At the end of Round One each city will have 6 tiles.


For Round Two you will draw 3 duplex tiles to form your hand. Again you will secretly choose 2 for your cities and then the third tile will be discarded. Again you proceed through Choose/Reveal/Place.

The duplex tiles are treated as 2 separate buildings stuck to each other. The must be placed so they are oriented correctly (they cannot be rotated)


For Round Three you will go through the same steps as Round One but you will be passing tiles to the player above you instead of below you.



FOR THIS CHALLENGE all discussion must occur in thread. Again there is no outside communication about this game allowed. Once I have posted everyone's chosen tiles players may discuss openly on this thread how they want to use which tile. There will be a 24 hour deadline to choose your tiles and then a 48 hour deadline to place chosen tiles. This can be expedited if everyone locks in where they are placing their tiles.

Scoring:

Shops: Image

Shops score when connected in a straight line (row or column). 1/2/3/4 in a line score 2/5/10/16. Each tile can only be counted in one set (so if a line of shops cross in an L or T or + each tile can only be counted for ONE of those sets)

Factories: Image

The city (or cities if tied) with the most factory tiles compared to other cities, each factory is worth 4 points. The city or cities with the second most factories score 3 points each. All other cities, each factory is worth 2 points each.

Taverns: ImageImageImageImage

There are 4 different tavern tiles. Taverns score 1 point for one in a city, 4 points for two different taverns, 9 for three different taverns, or 17 points for all four different taverns. A city can contain duplicate taverns and each set of taverns is scored separately (so if you had 2 music, 2 beer, 1 food, and 1 bed you would score 17 for the set of four unique, then 4 for the 2 different taverns).

Offices: Image

For each office in your city you score 1/3/6/10/15/21. After the 7th office a new set of offices score. If an office is next to at least 1 tavern building it scores a bonus point!

Parks: Image

Parks score in a groups of one or more connected parks. For 1/2/3/4/5... connected parks you score 2/8/12/13/14...
A city can score multiple unconnected parks in a city. Each is scored separately (so for example if you had a 2 park tiles connected together then a single park tile somewhere else in the city, you would score 8+2 for park tiles)

Houses: Image

House tiles are worth 1 point per other building type (excluding houses) in the city. It is only worth 1 point if next to a factory. So for example in your city if you have a tavern, a park, an office, a factory, and a shop, each House tile not adjacent to a factory would be worth 5 points.



Game Over:

The game ends once the 16th tile in all the cities are placed (Round 3). After scoring all your tiles your score will be whichever of your two cities is worth less. For example:

Mallow and Geno's city is worth 50
Geno and Peach's city is worth 51
Peach and Mario's city is worth 60
Mario and Bowser's city is worth 42
Bowser and Mallow's city is worth 45

Final scores would be:
Mallow-45
Geno-50
Peach-51
Mario-42
Bowser-42

If there is a tie, players compare their higher scoring cities (this will be done for any tie). If there still is a tie Winners add and compare amount of buildings by types in their cities until a tie is broken (by order of Shops/Factories/Taverns/Offices/Parks/Houses)

The 1st place finisher will receive Immunity and an advantage in the next Round Table.
2nd place will receive Immunity.

The player whose city is worth the least (and loses the tie-breaker of having their 2nd city worth more) will be the Duel Candidate. They can challenge any non-immune player for the Duel.

Inspiratieloos, you won an advantage in the previous Round Table. You may choose one of your neighbors. All other neighbors will be randomly assigned. Your worst city at the end of the game will also receive a 1 point boost.

VashtaNeurotic and CaptainMeme, you both won a smaller advantage from the previous Round Table. One of your cities will randomly be worth an extra .5 points at the start of the game. If you are seated next to each other or Inspiratieloos it will not go towards that city.

You can if you would like. This first tile placement isn't super important if it's put side by side or on top of one another. You can look at duplex tiles to see if that will influence your choice though
