What numbers on that?In post 123, Jingle wrote:So I'm hearing a prein for a 45p mountainous nightless setup, in marathon, of course.
34:11 would be close to 50% EV, but I don't think EV is a useful measure for this. It's really unclear how the numbers should scale as scumteams get bigger, as we have very little evidence about what happens in a game with a very large scumteam; I can believe that 34:11 is anywhere from 99% town winrate in practice to 1% town winrate in practice.
Do it under marathon deadlines, though, and most players will miss most of the posts, so I'd expect scum to have a huge advantage in that they can be fairly brazen without most players noticing.scum· scam · seam · team · term · tern · torn ·town- u r a person 2

Hey I've been in marathon games that long before and they were immensely fun.In post 120, Something_Smart wrote:The game lasted 7 game days, 3 hours, and 60 pages... if it had gone to LYLO it could have lasted almost 6 hours.
Time-intensive and I regretted not being able to give my all to at least one game I could've won if I didn't need to leave (which caused the loss), but OH WELL.- the worst

Any ideas on how we can avoid the fiasco that was half mast nightless?
I'm thinking that the best option is to, when you start to take signups for a game, set a player range (like 9-13) and specify exactly what setup will be played at each player count, and then refuse to take signups beyond the maximum.
And, uh, don't run any nightless games with more than like 10 players. It's always the same. When you fire that first shot, no matter how right you feel, you have no idea who's going to die. You don't know whose children are going to scream and burn. How many hearts will be broken. How many lives shattered. How much blood will spill, until everybody does what they're always going to have to do from the very beginning... SIT DOWN AND TALK!- the worst

I think your suggestion last time was good. Try and cap ~mystery opens~ at 13 players and/or just don't run nightless marathons with more than say 9 people. (I think grey flag nightless lends well to marathons!)
hey it wasn't a fiasco it was amazing- Jingle

We need as many as possible, really, the aim's to run untested Opens rapid-fire as fast as we can fill them. The more people, the faster they fill.In post 140, themilkcartonkid wrote:Is there room for me? Saw a lot of people already signed up
About the Nightless discussion, the real problem is probably running a game that runs to too many days. Grey Flag Nightless can't run beyond Day 4, which isn't too bad, but running much longer than that is pushing it because people can't stay online forever.scum· scam · seam · team · term · tern · torn ·town- Fumuki

I'll be honest here
what do you guys mean by calling thepast marathon nightless a fiasco?legendary
I completely loved it and ~most~ of the players liked it as well. I usually read completed games and I surprisingly found quite a lot of mentions to that marathon nightless game because it was so memorable. I understand that it was frustating though, but I would arguely say the most fun and memorable (we are talking about it even now) marathon game we had in february.
We absolutelyto run that setup again and even mark a specific date for it.need
However, of course we can't have every game being as much of a shitshow as that yeah.
We probably need to have a list of various setups in the 9p ~ 15p range and the setup played is the one hit by the amount of signed up players during the signing up interval.
I would find it really unfun and heartbreaking if in the most active hours, that we have the opportunity to play some really cool big setups, we had a capped game and people were left out. Players that show up in X hour, if they need to actually wait for a marathon game to finish first before signing up, they probably won't even stay around and are just going to log out, what makes progressively harder to run the next games.
If we want to test open setups, we probably should make a compilated list of 9p~13p setups we want to run and suggest for them to be run when signing up to games, however we absolutely need to give space for a potential 15p/17p/18p marathon game though because it's rare but awhen it happens.blast- the worst

I'd be very interested in running another big marathon game; I'd just like to be a bit clearer about the fact we wanna run a BIG marathon game upfront and make sure folks know what they're in for. Also as cfj mentioned up there... it needs to have some kind of projection around how many days it's going to run. Vigilantes and scum nightkills are probably extremely wise for massive marathon games.- Jingle

Excellent thanks.
Part of my evil plan to set up for this one is to prowl through the monthly challenges I've missed and cherrypick the more marathon friendly ones- Irrelephant11

I would like to try playing my Romeo, Romeo if someone has interest modding (12p nightless, but most lynches kill two slots)
Some of the March Challenge setups are good for small playerlists tooHey all! Excited and nervous to play my first game with you!
