Someone out there is coming to get your guns, unless you get their guns first. Every night, you must either choose to defend your guns or go searching for someone who's guns you can kill. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity, however, so every night you must choose to do something different. And no failing to act either, everyone knows people who aren't proactive never get anywhere in life. Your options are as follows:

ARM YOURSELF! If anyone targets you on the night you arm yourself, they will die. You may not arm yourself on two consecutive nights.

Scout the enemy: You may choose a single player and visit them. You may choose to visit any player to determine how dangerous they are to you. You may not visit the same player on two consecutive nights, but you may choose to visit two different players on consecutive nights.

You win when you are the last Gun Owner alive, or when it becomes impossible for you to die.
