If Scummers Ruled the Galaxy... [Stellaris Lets-play]

This forum is specifically for discussing non-Mafia games
(board, card, video, we're not picky)
.
Playing
such games should happen in the Mish Mash forum, of course.

If Scummers Ruled the Galaxy...

wgeurts plays Stellaris, whilst you populate the galaxy

I have been a huge fan of Stellaris for quite some time, and recently whilst talking with Postie came up with the idea to run a game using Scummer-created space-nations and document the state of our own custom universe here. For those that don't know what Stellaris is: it's a space-themed 4X game where you play as a planetary nation which has just discovered how to utilise faster than light (FTL) technology to travel immense distances rapidly. Your space nation develops as you explore the universe and slowly begin to discover you are not alone... and you are not the first to have populated this hostile expanse. Time progresses and you have to decide which course of action your people wish to take, whilst exploring and unravelling the many wonders and mysteries of the universe. Meanwhile others have their own agenda's and thus a galactic stage is set.

tl;dr: Star Wars simulator.

Same, I'm pretty excited to showcase a game I really enjoy. You get some really wacky space-sagas from this so it will be funny to see how it plays out.

Randomidgit has shown interest in making a civ but is debating whether to do it sober or not, and I've shot those that have posted so far a quick PM asking if they're interested in doing so. In like 4 days or so I'll wrap this up and fill up any remaining slots, possibly with help from Postie if they're up for that!

Done. I don't choose how it labels the government by the way, as the game does that based off chosen Traditions and Ethics, and choosing Militarist pretty much always lands you something like "Military Junta or Commissariat".

I have changed the Scummer Moderation Collective to represent the Moderation team of MafiaScum only, as I've chosen to create a nation of Scummers themselves who have declared independence from Zoraster's Hive Mind. I am also more than aware that Annadog does not endorse slavery, but an intergalactic slaving nation makes a game somewhat spicier and it fit the civilisation. Also did my best to replicate the flag with the options the game provides, it's not the same but it's similar.... ish?

Ah they're using a flag mod, I've got the flag mods updated for 2.2.2 but don't have that background. Also will do on removing your name.

Edit: found a mod that adds 96 new backgrounds, let's see if that has what you have in mind.

Brave New Worlds...

2200-01-01

It is the first day of the new year, and the crowds before the capitol building are abuzz. President Cheetory6 is expected to make his appearance any moment now, and rumours have circulated that he shall make a very unusual announcement. The Scummer Assembly had lead Meat World into an era of prosperity, wherein technology had rapidly advanced... wait, someone's taking the stage!

That someone was most certainly not Cheetory6 to the disappointment of the mass, but none the less the rabble died down. The microphone squeaked into action, and the Head of Engineering cleared his throat...

Spoiler: Speech
Image

The Head of Engineering was a man of few words, to the point and concise. This did not bother the crowds, which erupted into a monstrous cheer.

Spoiler: Demographics and Geographics
Meat World orbits the gas giant Delgovicia, which in turn orbits the system's star: MafiaScum. Meat World is home to 12 billion Scummers, which live in harmony together. The MafiaScum solar system is located in the outer-ring of one of the galaxy's two arms. It is but a speck in this vast expanse.

Image
Image

The Scummer Assembly has also accomplished something Donald Trump could only dream of: the founding of a true Space Force. It consisted of three Corvettes equipped with three mass-drivers each, and served not much purpose other than symbolic, but it exists.

Image

Having completed his announcement the Head of Engineering left the stage, making way for Cheetory6 at last who was greeted with loud applause. Cheetory6 detailed the government's plans for the remainder of his term, most notably increasing Research Funding and appointing a Head of Social Research as well as a Head of Physics Research.

Spoiler: Lead Researchers
Image

He also announced that a Research Vessel was currently on its way to survey the neighbouring star system Tacbarpal. For years our best scientists could only study this star and her planets remotely, but through our FTL technology we can now bridge the gap in a matter of mere weeks. Tacbarpal was of particular interest to the scientific community, as a planet orbited it which had long been deemed a candidate for life. The planet was simply named "Tacbarpal II", and the research vessels main priority was to study the habitability of the planet.

Spoiler: Tacbarpal
Image
Tacbarpal II is the ringed planet first to the left of the star in the distance.

And so begins the Mafia Scum space saga...

Discovery

2203-06-02

As the research vessel SIS Darwin nears the first stellar body in the Tacborpal system its sensors start to pick up strange readings... structures, almost impossibly natural, litter the surface of the moon Tacborpal IVa. Studying these structures would take a long time, and the oh so appealing Tacborpal II lay within reach. Lead scientist Yihua Meng decided to postpone research into the origin of these structures, and the government decided to withhold any information of them from the general public for the time being. They made their way to Tacborpal II, and the results were startling...

Spoiler: Tacborpal II
Image
Image

Alien life was found on the planet! Biological beings different to our own life yet still remarkably similar littered the surface and the seas, yet the presence of intelligent life lacked. The news of extraterrestrial life however spread like wildfire on Meat World, proving all those wrong that once thought our planet was one of a kind. The evolutionary marvels renewed a long-discarded hope of first contact with intelligent outworlders.
Soon after this monumental discovery the team aboard SIS Darwin came across artefacts of some kind upon the dwarf planet Tacborpal I...

Spoiler: The Irassian Concordat
Image

By now the Scummers were ecstatic. A popular newsnet post reads "Intelligent life taunts with most pointed absence". It is beyond doubt we are not the first to have roamed these stars, a both thrilling but terrifying prospect to people of Meat World. Encouraged by these breakthroughs Cheetory6 funded the creation of two more research ships, each to be sent to neighbouring star systems. A construction ship was also sent to Tacborpal, and within a year the first outpost within another solar system was built.

Spoiler: Tacborpal Outpost
Image

Further funding was also released to study the mysterious structures located by SIS Darwin a year ago. Tacborpal IVa was found to be uninhabitable and uninhabited, yet these structures were carved from a material not native to the moon, evidently placed by some artistically-inclined spacefaring lifeforms, perhaps the Irassians? Translation of murals upon the monoliths charted a timeline so fantastical it must surely be fictional. Surely.

The research vessel SIS Leif Ericson funded by the Scummer Assembly dispatched to Lidor also swiftly made a breakthrough, albeit relatively speaking less exciting. Exotic gasses were found upon a dwarf planet within the system, as well as a planet that too hosted simple biological lifeforms. The gasses were found to be highly volatile, yet also held strong hallucinogenic properties as swiftly discovered by the team in a rather... happy accident. Although we have no utility for these gasses as off now, the existence of materials before unbeknownst to our people is fascinating.

Reminders of Mortality

2206-05-16

As the Scummer researchers continue to explore the unknown they are met with some harsh reminder of the mortality of all things. First a lifepod is found orbiting a gas giant in the Lidor system, then a seemingly abandoned ship is encountered in orbit of another planet within the same system...

Spoiler: All Things Come To Rest
Image
Image

To add to this a fossilized corpse of an enormous spacefaring being is also found frozen within a comet. The researchers aboard SIS Leif Ericson are unsure as to what they must do with the remains.

Spoiler: Silent Shout
Image

What do you suggest?

That's it for now, will continue later at some point possibly. What do you lot think the Scummer Assembly should pursue? Should we try to inhabit one of the newfound habitable worlds? And what about that corpse the size of a double decker bus?

The remains of the gargantuan gastropod were brought onboard the SIS Leif Ericson and shall be returned to Meat World to be placed in a Museum, DNA shall also be harvested and studied. Just under two months later the Leif Ericson has another encounter with spacefaring entities, this time they're not dead however...

Spoiler: Beta Aliens
Image

Although their intentions are unknown the atmosphere on Meat World can be best described as rapturous.

Cheetory6 called a special meeting of the Assembly, the topic at hand: interstellar colonisation. Tacbarpal II had been heavily studied for a few years now, and the scientific consensus was that the planet was perfectly habitable for Scummers. A second planet... it would allow us to tackle future overpopulation and expand our industries... let's do it.

Spoiler: The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round...
The arrow points at Meat World by the way.

And thus the first interstellar Scummer colony ship embarked on its voyage, writing history as it went. Meanwhile back on Meat World our scientists had been studying the strange lifeforms seen floating about from planet to planet, after nine months a report was published on the creatures dubbed "Tiyanki Space Whales". They seemed to be harmless, cute almost. Most definitely worth saying "hello" to, and for now: not a target for our as off now unused weaponry. Not to be mistaken with tasty Asian cuisine either, even if whaling is acceptable in that region.

Spoiler: Teriyaki Report
Image

A year passed, and suddenly the sensors of the SIS James Cook research ship were picking up strange readings from the surface of O'elmash IIa. The SIS Leif Ericson also made yet another discovery, stumbling across what seemed to be the remnants of a giant interstellar battle that took place long ago...

Spoiler: More Discoveries
Image
Image

All this time the Scummer colony ship had been making its way to Tacbarpal II, which they swiftly renamed to the much nicer sounding "Zoroaster" (not even lying, the RNG generated this lol). As the giant vessel entered orbit thousands of landing pods were dispatched, bringing with them hundreds of thousands of Scummers. It is a glorious time for the Scummer Assembly, Cheetory6 securing himself a legacy that would go down into the history books for generations to come. The coming few years these colonialists shall start to lay out the foundation for a new society, it shall take some time.

Spoiler: We Are Our Own Aliens

Speaking of Cheetory6; his 10 year term was coming to an end... ah, nevermind, just like in the SUPP he got re-elected without contest.

Spoiler: All Hail Cheetory6!

The alien mural scientists set out to decode was also eventually translated, proving itself to be a trove of information our academics can fawn over for decades to come.

Spoiler: Findings

The Scummers were truly starting to get a foothold in the galaxy, yet they seemed to be alone... for now.

Social Shifts and Even More Dead Stuff

2211-11-06

Another year went by, and even more discoveries were made by our valiant team of researchers who were now starting to become, quite understandably, depressed. SIS Leif Ericson finalised its studies on the space battle graveyard, fed up of sifting through floating corpses and ancient machinery. SIS James Cook then proceeded to survey a neighbouring star system, finding a tomb world with the remains of an Industrial-era civilisation preserved impressively well. The atmosphere of the planet had been shredded by a solar flare in the past, instantly irradiating all life that may have once roamed the surface. Probes found families slumped over tables, workers scattered across ancient alien machinery, and younglings void of life. It was horrendous, it was truly as if the universe was flicking the finger at the Scummer scientific community, sapient life had oh so obviously existed here, but it was most certainly no more. What does this bode for us some of our researchers began to wonder...

Spoiler: Dead Things
Image
Image

Even more impressive however was the discovery a solar system once inhabited by the elusive Irassian Concordat. A gaia planet, terraformed to support all life optimally, orbited the sun named "Lost Menagerie". This is not all however! For a gas giant was found with a colossal framework of metals ringing it, dead vines hung from the structure into the gas giant. The scientific community believes it to have been a gas giant planetary farm, as mapping the genome revealed that the vines had been manipulated to feed off the gasses and withstand the brutal elements of space. The Scummers can only look and marvel at the ruins of this megastructure, dwarfing any achievement ever reached by one of our own. And to think this was millions of years before we arose.

Spoiler: The Lost Menagerie

Image

Meanwhile back on Meat World, the Assembly was being shaken up by the emergence of two new factions: the Free Thought Council lead by Head of Engineering Militadis Staikopoulos and the Alien Compassion Watch lead by President Cheetory6.

Spoiler: Factions
Image
Image

The former seeks freedom for all within the Scummer Interplanetary Assembly, whilst the latter promotes friendly relations with all alien species as well as boosted efforts to locate sapient life.
Scummer society itself was also evolving, how? That's up to you:

Which Ascension Perk should the SIA adopt?

That is all for today, I shall continue later and base the Ascension Perk pick off general consensus here. May the force be with you all :P

Stranger Things (With a Side of More Dead Stuff)

2217-03-04

In the 17 years since Cheetory6's appointment as President the Scummer society had began to develop a deeper appreciation for education, caused by the many unexplainable wonders our lead scientists were uncovering. The government acknowledged this changed sentiment, and enacted reforms to optimise our educational systems to create an environment where-in our best minds could thrive. They also funded the construction of a second colony ship which was sent to planet Speakeasy, formerly known as Raxum III. The colony upon Zoroaster had also managed to become self-dependent, founding it's first city consisting out of 500 million Scummers!

Spoiler: Brave New Worlds...
Image
Image

Meanwhile our scientists were still discovering continuously more findings out in deep space, and even more dead things that were once sapient to go along with them. A gigantic computational complex was found hidden within a bunker upon Lek'Shan I, it is theorised to be thousands of years old, and our brightest minds are clueless as to what it is vigorously calculating. An executive decision was made to let the computer do its things and simply observe.

Spoiler: Bunker-Bot
Image

The dead stuff discovered this time consisted of a mummified pilot left floating in space, as well as a gigantic skeleton which after some study was discovered to have once been something remarkable...

Spoiler: Dead Things
Image
Image
Image

This gigantic skeleton is far from the highlight of scientific findings these past years however, as three other findings have left our community baffled. Firstly a zoological discovery was made in the far star-system Fl'groathill. The large Teriyaki Space Whales we had encountered earlier, grazing upon gas giants, were to be found here in large numbers. What's more, they swarmed around a singular gaseous planet, and were hostile to all those that approached. The SIS James Cook was chases off by these aggressive giant space whales, a most terrifying experience.

Spoiler: Teriyaki Space Sauce
Image
Image

Then another system named Gredge was found to contain an impossible planet orbiting one of the present gas giants. The landmasses of this planet appear to be floating by all readings provided by the SIS Leif Ericson, yet they couldn't approach the planet for it was guarded by these shining entities which seemed more than happy to electrocute anything that came too close.

Spoiler: The Fudge?
Image
Image

Finally some sort of artificially maintained wormhole was located near the Xantha Broniea Black Hole. It seemed to have been constructed out of Nanites and pointed towards a cluster, now dubbed the L-Cluster, outside of our galaxy. The gateway had however been closed, denying us any access to this mysterious cluster of stars.

Spoiler: The L-Gate
Image
Image

How should we proceed to deal with all these findings?

Should we kill the Teriyaki guarding the gas giant? Should we fight the balls of light? Should we setup a programme aimed at reopening the L-gate?

One thing is certain: accomplishing any of these will take time. The space whales and lightballs are far more powerful than we are, and the L-gate shall surely take many years to crack.

Cheetory6 Was Robbed!

2220-08-14

3 more years passed for the Scummer Interplanetary Assembly, and it was once more election time. Cheetory6 had held the position for 20 years now, a had lead the Scummers into a new age of brave exploration and expansion. The SIA was no longer an meagre blob on the galactic map, it was now instead a minor blob! A worthy upgrade.

Spoiler: The Scummer Interplanetary Assembly
Image

Spoiler: Election Candidates
Image

Cheetory6 as head of the Alien Compassion Watch was running against the leader of the Free Thought Council: Militiadis Staikopoulos (what a name). 2 decades without any sign of -living- sapient life had however cooled the fires in the hearts of the Scummers with regards to the pursuit of extraterrestrial life. The charismatic investor Staikopoulos however promised to focus upon the economy, promising prosperity for all Scummers within his 10 year rule. It was a close battle, and eventually the result was called...

Spoiler: Election Result
Image

Farewell Cheetory6, you shall not be forgotten. o7
His final act was to pass a bill funding research into the elusive L-gate.

Scum and Villainy

2225-01-08

None dared question the wise Cheetory6, he was unquestionably a great leader for the Scummer people. The same could not be said for for the newly elected Mr. Staikopoulos however, even nature herself seemed displeased. It all started with an earthquake on the newly colonised Speakeasy, causing 2 million casualties with a volcano erupting as a result. The Governor of our planets, who you haven't heard of before, Felisberta Abreu, got corrupted by the criminal underworld shortly after this disastrous event. She had tended to Meat World, Speakeasy, and Zoroaster with great care and efficiency for many years, and our authorities are locked into a strongly heated debate whether or not to imprison her. Finally, space pirates set up shop. They call themselves the "Shipjackers", and have targeted the Lidor system through which a trade route supplying vital resources between Zoroaster and Meat World passes through.

Spoiler: Scummy Scummers
Image
Image

One good thing has however happened, at least it appears to be good for the time-being. An activist has gained a cult-following upon Zoroaster. Ksenia Zhirova has been dubbed the "Mediator", and she preaches Xenophilia. The local populace obeys her sooner than the local authorities, however she has been cooperating with said authorities to make sure no disputes happen.

Spoiler: The Mediator
Image

How should we deal with the corrupt governor, and should we utilise martial force on the Shipjackers?

That's all for a bit, discuss away. The earlier questions are still open for decision as we do not have the means to complete any of them as off now.

Ms. Abreu was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment, for cooperating with criminal figureheads and accepting illegal funds. The Scummer Centurion Fleet was also mobilised into action, its purpose to destroy the traitors threatening the lives of civilians transporting goods between our planets. Since 2200 corvettes had been equipped with fusion reactors over fission, but further remained the same design. 12 of them now orbited MafiaScum however, as opposed to the 3 initially funded.

All 10 of the Shipjacker ships were destroyed, they engaged our fleet first and thus sealed their fate. 4 of our ships were downed during the skirmish though, taking the lives of roughly 200 Scummers. The fleet was given the green light to bombard and neutralise the pirate base as a result. No pirates survived.

The SIS Darwin was receiving a stream of information... some sort of transmission! A crack squad of scientists (not on crack) was quickly assembled on Meat World to decode whatever was being sent. In return we have returned a greetings transmission. We shall continue to observe with caution.

Zoraster Crashes the Party

2228-04-20

The screens at the Scummer Extraterrestrial Research campus flared to life, radar dishes whirring into action automatically seeking out a point in the sky. The scientists at hand were startled out of their usual routine, and hurried over to the control panels. We are receiving a transmission... and it is in our own language!

Spoiler: Transmission
Image

The people of the Scummer Interplanetary Assembly were ecstatic, we had finally found sapient life that lived! Scientists whipped out bottles of champagne, whiskey, and rum and ceased all work to celebrate. As the news spread throughout the various planets under SIA control daily life came to a halt. We are not alone!

The Scummer Moderation Collective was located above us, only 7 jumps from our nearest outpost. They appeared to be peaceful, yet remained seemingly wary of our intentions.

For Science!

2230-05-05

The Scummer Moderation Collective took no action for a few years since the first lines of communication were established. This changed when a transmission was received with a rather... peculiar request.

Spoiler: Transmission
Image

The Assembly agreed to take part in the scientific exchange, on the condition that Scummers voluntarily would allow themselves to be studied by the Skittles. Surprisingly enough, a few hundred seemed more than willing to let themselves be guinea pigs for literal aliens. Another major conclusion was also drawn: there are more sapient lifeforms out there!

Spoiler: Volunteers
Image

Those brave or stupid enough to sign-up were boarded onto a research ship and transported to The Hive. A few months later we received a few dozen specimens of Skittle drones, they were only just alive however...

Spoiler: The Skittles
Image

Our scientists did all they could to keep them alive and research their biology and neurology before they perished. Although our window was shorter than we would have hoped we were able to learn a number of fascinating things about the Skittles.

Oh no

2232-12-02

2 years passed and all our volunteers were returned to us in one piece. They acted a little funny and spoke rather strangely but other than that they seemed to be in good shape thankfully. Our scientists examined them for parasites and infectious disease not known to our kind, but all came out clear. It's safe to say we have more trust in the Collective now, and they seem to view us slightly less warily.

Spoiler: Volunteers Return
Image

Our research ships were granted permission to pass through their territory, and having crossed it we swiftly sighted activity of something or someone.

Spoiler: New Contact
Image

The research ship continued on and... good god what the hell is this! The SIS Darwin had sailed straight into a system littered with what appeared to be gargantuan space stations and a fleet they truly dwarfed anything we could have dreamed of! Their largest ships seemed to have been built around asteroids in some obscure manner, and displayed weaponry that appeared truly terrifying. Let us hope they are not hostile...

Traders, Barbarians, and More...

2237-03-30

Our research ship was swiftly under fire, galactic cannons firing barrages... past it? The deep-space fireworks show continued for 10 minutes or so, then came to an abrupt halt. A transmission of some sort was then picked up by the team of SIS Darwin. Once decoded the transmission yielded a crude image of a spacefaring vessel getting blown up. The message was clear, the research vessel started it's FTL drives and backed out. Sadly, this was all too much for the lead scientist KittyMo, she suffered a heart attack and died at the age of 82. She will be missed, and her services to our people shall not be forgotten.

Spoiler: R.I.P.
Image

Just before the SIS Darwin could jump out of the system a second transmission was received. It was ignored until the crew managed to pilot the vessel to a safe distance. Having done so, the transmission was run through our translation software (which magically could translate everything by now)...

Spoiler: The Bjorish Wildlings
Image
Image

These guys were not to be messed with. Their fleet power was more than enough to raze our civilisation from existence. On the bright side however: they were not our neighbour, and thus safely ignorable for the time-being. A few months later a fleet of gigantic vessels was detected nearing one of our outposts however, the ships seemed to be hailing us...

Spoiler: The Racket Industrial Enterprise
Image
Image

Thank goodness, it was not the wildlings! These shrew-like entities approached and docked at our outpost, offering us minerals in exchange for food. It was a fair deal, and having built up a surplus of food we agreed to their terms. They then proceeded to carry on with their voyage. It is worrisome how powerful these two new contacts are, and our admirals are most concerned.

That was not all however... for the SIS Leif Ericson was picking up signs of another unidentified vessel in the Ynytono star-system. It appeared to be surveying the planets and star, much like we were...

Spoiler: Mu Aliens
Image

Also, you may note the rapid claiming of star-systems near the Collective's border.

When Xenophilia Gets a Little too Literal

2240-03-05

The ship spotted surveying by the SIS Darwin was hailed, and within a few months we had translated each others language. Communications were officially established between the SIA and the M'td Star Empire! They seemed wary of us, but stated that as long as we left them alone things would be fine.

Spoiler: Flowers of the Galaxy
Image

Meanwhile on Meat World things were getting a little too... meaty. The Racketeer Enterprise fleet had docked at our capital, and we swiftly discovered that despite our differences we had a lot in common. A lot of business was done which resulted in lucrative profits for the Assembly.

Spoiler: Money!
Image

Profit wasn't all the Scummers gained however. During the festivities a large number of our women took Xenophilia a step too far for my comfort, and sure enough 9 months later half-Scummers were born onto Meat World. You read that right: we slept with space shrews.

Spoiler: Sauce
Image
Image

The half-Racketeer, half-Scummer hybrids had inherited the Psionic powers of the Racketeers and the intelligence plus communalism of the Scummers. Arguably they were smarter and more effective than us pure-breds, and how this will effect Scummer society will have to be observed. 1.5 billion of these hybrids were birthed in a year on Meat World, which was now home to 21 billion individuals.

2245-05-14

The year was 2243, it was February. The scientists at our interstellar communications were not expecting to be receiving any communications opened on new lines... yet the dish array was whirring into life as screens once more flared to life. A transmission was received from a nation simply named the Urist Commerce League, apparently they had listened in on M'td communications. Just how many others are there out there?!

Spoiler: The Urist Commerce League
Image

Ironically enough the first thing we then proceeded to hear about the Urist Commerce League was that the M'td Star Empire had declared them a rival. Woops. The Scummer Moderation Collective maybe wasn't such a bad neighbour after all...

Spoiler: Rivalries
Image

Meanwhile our research ship SIS Leif Ericson had made a worrisome but simultaneously thrilling discovery out in the unclaimed territory between the Collective and the Trade League. They had found something... a something of colossal proportions.

Oh, the new president was still doing a worse job than Cheetory6 and unrest was starting to brew upon Meat World...

Out With the Old & In With the New

2255-08-21

The president had died of old age! Aged 86 the lesser version of Cheetory6 had finally left his office, and the Scummers which had become somewhat fed up with his mismanagement were overjoyed at the opportunity to shake up the political scene and hopefully bring about progress in Scummer society. The Free Thought Council was expected to win roughly 42% of all votes, with the Alien Compassion Watch predicted to come second with 27% votes. No party would be able to hold an absolute majority, and thus a coalition would be required regardless. The Free Thought Council's candidate was Annadog40, whilst Laladucks was running for the Alien Compassion Watch. If nothing unexpected were to happen, Annadog40 would take the position. Both candidates promised to increase the productivity of the Scummer Interplanetary Assembly.

Spoiler: Election
Image

After 4 months all the votes were collected from the many Scummer planets (4 as off now) and the winner was called...

Spoiler: Election Results...
Image

Annadog40 is our new president! Salutations.

During the election campaigns however Ksenia Zhirova, the Mediator of Zoroaster, passed away of sickness. She was a truly great Scummer, devoting her life to spreading awareness of our intergalactic neighbours and preaching a message of peace and harmony. The people's of Zoroaster mourned her passing deeply, and requested government aid to complete one of her final projects: an intergalactic cultural exchange. Both candidates had promised funding to win over the Zoroasterians, and the new president kept to her promise.

Spoiler: The Death of a Great Scummer

Having been the former governor of our planets our president had to fill a vacancy, and the young Alisae was appointed. She governed over our planets for a solid 4 months, until she got arrested and as such had to be expelled from her office... instead The Worst was appointed as our new governor.

Spoiler: Short Live Reign
Image

One year after being appointed Annadog40 was notified that the SIS Darwin sighted another research vessel in a far-flung system belonging to a previously unidentified nation. We made contact...

Spoiler: Space Birbs
Image

These guys seemed friendly! They are our first contact to not have threatened or warned us upon our first communication exchange. The Compact of the Snuggly Duck also notified us about the existence of a Galactic Market upon which all goods were exchanged throughout the galaxy. All our prior contacts had conveniently forgotten to mention this... a bit rude honestly.

Spoiler: Galactic Market
Image

Our scientists have also been as busy as ever! Two archaeological projects were held in formerly Irassian sites, revealing interesting new facts about their existence. A new kind of life-form was also encountered within space. Rather than being a giant squid they appeared to be... living crystals? Huh. Whatever floats their boat I guess.

Spoiler: Science!

Welcome To The Matrix

2257-06-02

The Compact of the Snuggly Duck appeared to be friendly, and as such our authorities approached them with an offer. We would supply them some minerals for 10 years in exchange for all their existing knowledge of other existing
sapient lifeforms. They agreed, and we were swiftly put in touch with the The Correct Path as well as the United Mish-Mash Compact. Both... not as friendly as the birbs.

Spoiler: Hi There

Meanwhile the SIA was holding yet another election, as once more 10 years had passed. Annadog40 was less popular than she was a decade ago, narrowly beating Laladucks with a 3% voter margin. A bit of campaign funding changed that, and Annadog40 secured 51% of the vote, also securing the Free Thought Council an Assembly majority.

Spoiler: Politics

Shortly after Annadog40 was re-elected our scientists mention discovering a strange alien-box orbiting a distant planet. They brought it back to Meat World, where the order was given to open it in isolation. We don't know what we were expecting... but it wasn't this.

Spoiler: Red Pill or Blue Pill

What should the SIA do?

Oh, Hi There

2266-06-20

Annadog40 made an executive decision and allowed the green solution to be reproduced and administered to our peoples. They were hesitant at first, one would wonder why, but soon Scummers realised they felt stronger, sturdier. This was also the case, we had become more resilient as a species. The only one who didn't seem to react well to it was Plotinus, who had an allergic reaction and died at the age of 87.

Spoiler: Green Pill
Image
Image

In the meanwhile our research ships had stumbled across two other spacefaring civilisations: the Fellowship of Mafia Universe and Postie People's Union. Mafia Universes way of saying hello was by instantly setting up a criminal branch on Meat World, and then opening a smuggler's cove as well as an illegal drug lab. The police force on Meat World had to be doubled as to keep the sudden surge in crime under control. The Postie's were much nicer however, and within 2 years we had setup a Commercial pact as well as a free-migration between worlds pact. Scummers were free to live in Postie lands, and vice-versa.

Spoiler: Subversive Cults and Posties!

Having signed these treaties Annadog40 then requested information of other known civilisations to the Posties in exchange for mineral goods. They obliged... and pretty much the entire galaxy map became technicolour spontaneously. Some seemed friendly, others downright terrifying.

Our diplomats were given a nightmarish time, being forced to scramble about and keep dialogue going properly between all these new civilisation. The Correct Path in the meanwhile seemed to be fed up with dialogue, and declared war on the Urist Commerce League!

Spoiler: Initiate Utopia Sequence
Image

This is not all however! Our scientists also found a weird gargantuan species of slug presereved under the ice of a distant planet, and we were able to secure intact strands of their DNA as to map the genome. Using this we were able to resurrect this otherwise extinct species, we named them Azizians, and although they are stupid and huge they make good labourers.

Not particularly, there like an army of very powerful crystals locking down the only hyperlane to the bottom half which prevented a lot of exploration both ways.

THE WORM

2267-12-05

It was yet another turn of the cycle, and Annadog40's 10 year term was coming to a close. The two main political factions within the Scummer Assembly started to rev up their campaign engines once more, spreading their messages and propaganda to the masses. The Free Thought Council was widely expected to win the upcoming election, the incumbent president Annadog40 enjoying 40% of the votes in pre-election polls. The Alien Compassion Watch was coming up second yet again, their candidate Randomidget holding 28% of the poll. Both factions campaigned as usual, neither investing any particular extra effort or funding when compared to prior elections.

Spoiler: Election Polls
Image

Time passed, and the elections were held. Scummers submitted their votes which were then sent off to Meat World. A legion of officials was tasked with manually checking and counting all votes, and before long the result was called...

Spoiler: Our President
Image

The result had been predicted by no one. RayFrost, an independent and previously unnoteworthy candidate won 29% of the vote, with Annadog40 suffering a major defeat with only 27%. The two political factions were sent back to the drawing board, left confused as to what had just happened. Shortly after the elections a small fleet of civilian ships carrying Fleigh refugees fleeing the Council of Storm-Z. The Roadmen had allegedly been displaced from their homes and expelled from their borders, leaving them to their own devices without any support. RayFrost permitted them to settle within our domain in exchange for their loyalty. How well they will incorporate into Scummer society will have to be seen...

Spoiler: Fleigh Refugees
Image

Having left the position of Research Captain aboard the SIS Leif Ericson a promising new scientist was recruited: wgeurts. Within two months he was reporting his first interstellar discovery, a seemingly impossible transmission... coming from a black hole.

Spoiler: Horizon Signal
Image

The crew aboard the SIS Leif Ericson were tasked with decoding the transmission, under the guidance of wgeurts. Progress was made astoundingly fast, but the findings only created further questions. In fact, the results were outright unnerving... the transmission namely broadcasted a poem written in the Scummer language, personally adressed to wgeurts himself. Even more disturbing was the fact that the source of the signal may even predate the birth of our civilisation.

Spoiler: GRAVITY IS DESIRE
Image

By now the wgeurts was determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, so he pressed on with additional resources allocated by the Assembly. What happens next is simply put unexplainable, and even more terrifying.

Spoiler: THE WORM
Image

wgeurts, the SIS Leif Ericson, and its crew were no more. They had simply vanished.

What on earth do you think is going on?

I'm Through

2268-12-06

Nothing says "congratulations for becoming president" more than a fresh insult from another interstellar civilisation. The MAFIA-451 Incorporators most certainly seemed to think so.

Spoiler: Filthy Fleshbags
Image

Nice to see you too!

Anyhow, that's not what's important. The black hole is acting up again, and it has summoned one of our scientists... Cheery Dog, who was recruited to replace wgeurts after his disappearance. Our scientists on Meat World had been sent coordinates telling Cheery Dog where he must go. Eerily enough, the message seemed to be spoken through wgeurts' own voice. Cheery Dog volunteered to go alone after hearing the news. He knew what had happened to his predecessor, but he believed that it was worth risking his life if doing so would help unravel the mystery behind wgeurts' likely death... although whether he is truly dead is now questionable.

Spoiler: REPRISE
Image

Cheery Dog made his way to the black hole, and headed to the provided coordinates. What happens next is just as baffling as our previous encounter with whatever this is...

Spoiler: I'm Through
Image

The Scummer Assembly passed a motion to contain all information regarding the black hole, out of fear for how the public would react. Cheery Dog too was gone, along with wgeurts...

Should we heed future messages from the Horizon?

WHAT WAS WILL BE

2271-06-09

The Scummer Assembly held an emergency session to discuss the matter of the ominous love poems addressed to RadiantCowbells. The atmosphere was grim, the representatives of Scummeran society obviously not at ease. The talks were due to start, until a messenger came running in, handing a note to President RayFrost. She nodded, then the mic crackled into life.

"Before we proceed to weigh our options regarding these strange tidings, I have a message for the Assembly. The Nameless have declared war on the United Mish-Mash Compact, and it would be wise to keep an observant eye on further developments. They are far from us however, and there are more pressing things at hand..."

Spoiler: Rise of the Nameless?
Image

"RadiantCowbells has been addressed by the entity we know as the 'Horizon'. Prior to this gathering you all received a briefing from our head of Society Research, Equinox. RadiantCowbells has said he is willing to do as the Horizon wills..."

RayFrost is cut off by an uproar of chatter and murmuring...

Spoiler: THE TRINE THE QUINE THE TRINE
Image

After many hours of debate an executive decision was made by Postie to send RadiantCowbells to
his doom
the Horizon. A ship was readied, and the brave scientist bid his farewells to his family and friends. He seemed to be certain he would not return, yet he remained determined. The ship took off, and flew towards the black hole, and once more the results were studied intensively...

Spoiler: Where The End Comes From
Image

RadiantCowbells was no more, just as Cheery Dog and wgeurts. wgeurts' research vessel however was left in the space RC's had vanished, carrying fascinating research data. There was however a catch: it was pure gibberish to even our brightest minds. A few hours pass, and out of the blue an earthquake strikes meat world. Little damage is done, and few are harmed by the natural event, but a cavern is opened up upon Meat World with in it what appears to be some form of ancient temple...

Spoiler: Everything Is Fine
Image

Our scientists are hesitant to draw a correlation between this freak incident and the final message from the Horizon. No sane man believed in the supernatural, not in an era where we ourselves shape our destinies. Nonetheless, a team was dispatched to survey the temple and uncover as many of its secrets as possible.

Spoiler: Yeah, This Is Normal
Image

Right, this is normal. Our scientists still refuse to acknowledge anything strange is going on, assigning all rumours to conspiracy. The populace still not aware of what was truly going in however made some sick tunes out of these absurd messages. Never before has reggae been this good. A year goes by and nothing out of the ordinary appears to happen, calming the nerves of the Scummer administration. Or so they thought...

Treasonous Posties?

2272-10-25

The scientists of Meat World were tasked with the further examination and study of the "Messenger". The corpse bared a remarkable resemblance to our own kind, yet it differed in key areas. Some of the academic community hypothesized that the being was a cousin to our species, others proposed it was genetically-modified breed of Scummer or perhaps even an ancestor. Most notably Lead Scientist Postie supported that latter hypothesis, requesting government funding to carry out tests. Permission was granted, for what could possibly go wrong?

Spoiler: The Not-Scummer
Image

As Postie started studying the corpse the Assembly was alerted of two new declarations of war within the galaxy. The Dread Empire had joined the Nameless in attacking the Mish-Mash Compact, however few believe the two parties are working together as allies. Furthermore, the Mafia-451 Incorporators had set out to convert those of the Most Serene Escargotligarchy of Rask, a small peaceful civilisation cut off from the galaxy by this pesky nuisance. Despite our concerns there's not much we can do to aid them.

Spoiler: Who Needs Diplomacy?
Image
Image

In the meanwhile Postie had succeeded in mapping the genome of the Messenger as well as recreating it... and then applying the genetic code to themselves through a viral agent without consulting the Scummer ethics board. The Messenger had indeed been an ancestor species to our own, it was more warrior-like and resilient by nature. Considering the strange happenings the last few years however... is it truly wise to be experimenting with this? The Assembly thinks we should, Postie was granted permission to work on her own to unravel the mysteries of the Messenger despite the breach of protocol.

Spoiler: Hold Up, Postie!
Image

The planetary sirens flared into life, wailing out into the night. Scummers howled in agony and fell onto their knees, convulsing violently... they were changing.

Spoiler: POSTIE!
Image

The military was mobilised to lock down the planet. Nobody knew what was going on, beyond the fact that Scummers were mutating spontaneously. A biological warfare unit was dispatched and discovered traces of a viral agent dispersed all throughout the cities of Meat World... only one could be responsible for this. Postie! All stardocks were isolated and shut down, nobody was to enter or leave the planet until the situation was controlled. After a few days the viral agents had died off, rendering them ineffective. Postie had been arrested and brought to the Assembly for questioning, flanked by military personnel. She had set loose the agent, converting the genome of the populace of Meat World to that of the Messenger. "What was, will be."

The newly mutated Scummers were stronger, more powerful, but also more aggressive. They rallied behind Postie and began to riot. RayFrost had no choice but to give her amnesty, lest the capital fall into chaos. Postie went onto found the Silver Guard: a Scummer Supremacy faction supported by the billions of Meat World. These are dark times...

Strangers Amongst Us

2278-05-21

The galaxy was unsettled. War had broken out left, right and centre. The Most Serene Escargotligarhcy of Rask was losing their war against the Mafia-451 Incorporators, driven to their final line of defence upon their homeworld. It would likely not be enough, as the Mafia-451 were bombing the planet until they surrendered. They heartless robots didn't care if they were king of the ashes or not, they wanted to win. The Correct Path won the war against the Urist Commerce league, succeeding in humiliating their leadership and severely denting their authority. Meanwhile the U'ian Galactic Authority had declared war on Postie's Peoples Union. The Assembly having guaranteed the independence of the Posties was called to arms, but there's no means for us to reach their lands and provide aid...

Spoiler: Collapse of Galactic Order
Image
Image
Image

The wars lead to an influx of refugees fleeing the chaos and seeking shelter upon Scummer planets. The precarious nature of the galaxy lead to concern amongst the scummers, further increasing support for the Supremacist Silver Guard amongst even those not mutated to the ancestral Scummer-genome. The Free Thought council was rapidly losing supporters in turn. After a few years it was time for an election; one which RayFrost was not expected to win again. The incumbent president endorsed Randomidget of the Alien Compassion Watch whilst the faction itself poured funding and resources into its campaigning efforts. They did not want to see Postie take power, for she opposed all things they deemed righteous and true...

Spoiler: Political Shakeup
Image
Image

Randomidget was expected to win the vote and a close battle between the Freedom Foundation and the Silver Guard would be fought out to claim the place of 2nd most influential faction within the SIA...

Spoiler: Results
Image

Thankfully, Randomidget was elected into power. The Silver Guard however did win the 2nd largest number of votes, displacing the Free Thought Foundation from its once unquestionable place in society. One of the first question Randomidget would have to face was to end a trending and controversial debate within Scummeran society: interspecies marriage. The Scummers were known as a strongly liberal and progressive people, yet shifts in the social atmosphere meant that many were now uncomfortable with the notion. The Assembly voted as Randomidget put forward a motion... and the bill was approved thus legalising interspecies marriage to the distaste of the Silver Guard.

Spoiler: Xenophilia's Limits
Image

Meanwhile, strange things were occurring upon the newly colonised planet Niflheim. Districts and infrastructure of Scummeran make already existed on the planet the colonists discovered. Furthermore, within a few years the planetary administration was recording anomalous levels of population growth. Scummers were seemingly materialising out of nowhere, bearing legitimate ID's that matched the planetary databases. Yet records of these individuals could not be found on any other external database not located upon the planet. It left the Assembly rather confused to say the least...

Anix Gets Married & Other Shocking Things

2287-05-17

The Scummer Assembly stood in silence, showing respect to the fallen. The Escargotligarchy of Rask had sent out a transmission, a final transmission, announcing their defeat and telling the peoples of the galaxy to never lose hope and let the fire of freedom die out. The Mafia-451 Encorporators had bested them, and now they were being augmented with machinery to convert all Snail Duders into subservient cyborgs. This was not the end of the Snail Duders however, for a small community had made the SIA into its home. The populace of Scumemran Snail Duders counted 1 billion, and although they mourned the loss of their brethren they vowed to take revenge... someday. News was also recieved announcing a declaration of war by Mafia Universe of the Council of Storm-Z. Neither of these parties are particularly friendly, but it wouldn't help to stabilise the galaxy.

As well as this, the Posties lost a signifcant portion of territory to the U'ian Galactic Authority in a peace settlement. The Nameless had also made large gains within the Mish-Mash Compact's lands, which then sued for peace successfully. To guarantee the survival of democracy the Snugly Duck vowed to aid the Posties if war ever came to their lands again, a treaty the Scummers backed.

Spoiler: Dark Times
Image
Image
Image

As if the wars weren't enough, the authorities of Niflheim suddenly silenced. All contacts with the planet went dark, and a research team was sent to investigate... What they found was disturbing.

Spoiler: The Colony That Never Was
Image

Not all was bad however. The first interspecies marriage was officially acknowledged upon Meat World. To make things even stranger: it was lead scientist Anix who was getting married!

Spoiler: Prominent Marriage
Image

Scummer society seemed to be settling down after the strange events following the Horizon signal; beyond the entire disappearance of a colony not much out of the ordinary had happened in a decade. The academic scene once more shifted its focus to studying the Irassian precursors, as well as study a new species of sentient being found in deep-space.

Spoiler: Void Clouds and Six-Legged Cows
Image
Image
Image

The Assembly decided to leave the Void Clouds alone, letting them exist in peace. The most recent Irassian archaeological study had however yielded the coordinates of their supposed homeworld! We may be on the brink of an amazing find...

Things That Don't Involve War

2296-04-09

There's been a lot of war, violence, and uncertainty for the Scummers the last decade. Have this pretty image of these sentient space crystals as a quick breather.

Don't worry, they too want to kill us... particularly that giant planet sized one in the background.

Spoiler: Space Crystals
Image

Anyhow, once more the elections had rolled up and it seemed like Randomidget would comfortably hold onto his position. The Silver Guard under Postie's leadership had dropped in popularity, allowing the Free Thought Foundation to once more allow Annadog40 to run as an opposition candidate. There was however a twist:

Image

That's right, she died at the grand age of 100 mid-campaign. This left the election outcome pretty much decided, as nobody really wanted to support the Silver Guard and the Free Thought Foundation lack the funds or time to put forward a new candidate. Some hardline Free Thought supporters suspected foul play, but their ideas did not catch on.

Spoiler: Totally Not An Inside Job
Image

Shortly after the election a group of disillusioned Silver Guard members left the party and founded the isolationist Closed Borders Center. They advocated a withdrawal from the galactic stage, leaving others to their own devices and avoiding conflict at all costs. Others concerns are not our own. Unlike the supremacists the CBC found support amongst the general populace too due to the wary sentiment caused by the unstable nature of our galaxy right now.

Spoiler: We Must Build A Wall!
Image

Not all was worrisome for the Scummers however. After years of police campaigns the illegal activities of Mafia Universe upon Meat World had been thwarted, expelling them from our territories. The coordinates discovered leading to the ancient Irassian home-system had also turned out to be correct. A fleet of reserach vessel was dispatched to conduct archaeological studies, and a trove of findings followed.

Spoiler: Not War Stuff

It's slightly depressing to know that these interstellar six-legged cows had to raze their own home to try and avoid the plague that was wiping them out, and it doesn't bode well for the future of our own kind, but none the less the public was delighted to have their saga completed.

Last off, this mildly amusing insult sent to Randomidget by the Nameless.

New Century, New Opportunities

2306-01-15

Time continued ticking and before the SIA knew it; it was the turn of the century. In the past hundred years the Scummers had become a significant player on the galactic stage, despite not intervening all too much with the affairs of others. The Scummer Interplanetary Assembly now held jurisdiction over 7 planets home to an astounding 156 billion scummers. Of these Scummers 22 billion were Trans-Scummeran (a genetically modified variant of the orignal Scummer which is less disagreeable then its predecessor), 21.5 billion were Scummer Mutatis (Postie's freakish warrior genome), and 25 billion were Half-Scummer (the descendants of that wild party decades back with the space traders). The remaining 87,5 billion consist of Droids as well as allother species permitted to call the SIA their home, many of which being the descendants of refugees.

To celebrate the coming of 2300 president Randomidget announced the funding of a colony ship which was to found the planet "Serene Home". The target planet was located in the Miderib star system. It was a bog world with two stars. This was to be the new home of the Snail Duders within the SIA territories. Only 17 billion Snail Duders remained in the galaxy, the Mafia-451 Incorporators having cybernetically converted 43.5 billion of their kind. Serene Home was to be a new beginning, but also a statement of hope.

Spoiler: Serene Home
Image

In the first 3 years passing the advent of 2300 there was a sharp influx of refugees entering Scummer planets. The surge was too much for Meat World, which saw a rise in unemployment. This in turn lead to a rise of criminal activities as individuals turned to shadier means of supporting themselves.

Spoiler: Darn Legal Immigrants Stealing Mah Jobs
Image

This was unfortunate for Randomidget as an election as coming up. The first polls expected him and the Alien Compassion Watch to win, but as unrest upon Meat World grew the Free Thought Council lead by Maestro gained popularity. He was campaigning for increased opportunities within Scummer cities, a promise that was very tempting to those unhappy with the current state of Meat World.

Spoiler: First Election Poll
Image

This portion of societies backing was all that Maestro needed. Once the polling stations were closed and the votes counted the FTC was announced the winner. Maestro is also the first non-humanoid President the SIA has ever had. As soon as the political season started Maestro and the FTC set to work promoting job opportunities within Scummer planets. They succeeded.

Spoiler: New Century, New President
Image
Image

Despite things going well within the SIA, the galaxy remained volatile. The Posties were once more under attack by the U'i, and were losing badly. In a surprise twist of events however the Scummer Moderation Collective as well as the Mafia-451 Incorporators teamed up to attack the U'i, probably attempting to contain this rising threat whilst they still could...

In the academic sector the most notable discovery was that of vast cache of ancient books from a now extinct civilisation that apparently once lived upon Elysium. Intensive studies showed that they never left the Iron-age. Sagas filled with wondrous tales of warriors, great battles and incredible minds were also translated in abundance and released to the public. The populace of Elysium was filled with pride, and already film-adaptations of the works are under development.

Scandals & Lasers

2312-06-05

"
...our programme gathered a lot of incriminating information related to key officials within your administration.

What should you do?

Well, I think $5 billion (SIA dollars) is a fair price for our little secret..."

The Assembly was facing a data breach, a group of hackers or an individual purportedly having gained access to the personal systems of many prominent officials. They demanded an enormous sum of money to say silent, but it would not be worth it... Scummers don't give into extortion. Given the fact that the government systems had gone down the other day the incident and threat were being treated as genuine.

Spoiler: Anonymous
Image

Three days passed, and eventually the deadline was met without any funds being transferred. Within a few hours reports of an enormous data dump popped up on social media, revealing widespread corruption throughout the administration. Governors Chickadee and Majiffy as well as Lead Scientists Anix and Davsto were all caught up in the allegations, and were thus expelled from their positions. The public was furious, and the Alien Compassion Watch observed anxiously as their popularity took a nosedive. To make matters worse, the final remaining governor and ex-president Randomidget died as well at the age of 97.

Image

Almost every key position within the SIA was now vacant, allowing a new generation to step in. MathDino, Kison, and Ether were appointed as governors, whilst Shadoweh, Maruchan, Bellaphant and Papa Zito were appointed various lead positions in the Scummer science community.

Spoiler: Scandalous!
Image

Further reports of a streak of shootings upon the newly colonised Serene Home were also leading to unrest amongst the populace. The Snail Duders had come here to start over, now they were being sniped. No perpetrator could be found so the Assembly released funding for a wide-scale planetary investigation.

Spoiler: Sniping the Snails
Image

After a number of months a vast network of limestone caves was found beneath the surface of Serene Home, and teams were dispatched to survey them. It was going to take a considerable amount of time to flush anybody out... if they were even there.

Spoiler: Hide 'n Seek
Image

Thankfully, the operation was successful and a perpetrator was located and taken into custody. He was the lone survivor of a ship crash over 10 years ago. A Scummer left to his own devices for a decade within the bogs of the planet. The isolation had driven him insane, leading him to see the Snail colonists as monster invading the planet to kill him. Nonetheless, a court case was started to bring him to justice.

Spoiler: Space Maroon
Image

During this entire ordeal the Scummer Space Force had also undergone some major upgrades to protect the SIA territories from the volatile political situation within the galaxy if need be. They also provided us a means to hopefully clear away the pesky light balls that zapped any moving object to smithereens. These balls of death blockaded our only means of leaving our section of the galaxy, and had done so for a hundred years.

Spoiler: The Centurion Fleet
Image

The fleet was given orders to clear the system, and thus they set off for the second time in a hundred years...

Spoiler: Engaged
Image
Image
Image

The light balls were vicious. Our fleet managed to take down 4 of the 6 before being forced into retreat due to heavy losses. 17 ships were downed, taking with them the lives of 16382 Scummers.

Image

Mafia Universe and the 451 have grown absurdly large, whilst U'i is taking heavy losses in a 2-front war.

The Admiral That Was

2317-07-30

The chaos in the relative South of the galaxy had caused a galactic migration of species as they fled the violence to the more stable relative North civilisations. These refugees had lead to social changes within many of these nations, changes that not even the iron rule of the Correct Path could withstand. Diplomats assigned to both the Correct Path and the Compact of the Snuggly Duck had noted a shift in government ethics towards xenophiles. They now embraced them openly. This is most bizarre in the case of the Correct Path, as all those that decided to live there had to obey the disciplined authoritarian laws unless they choose to pay the high cost of disobedience. There was no disobedience there, only justice, those that deviated were simply
corrected
.

Spoiler: Ethics Shifts
Image
Image

The Assembly was dissatisfied with the performance of the Centurion Fleet, and released billions to rebuild the losses and improve on it even further. Alongside these measures an Admiral was chosen from amongst the most promising Captains: SleepyKrew. It would be his duty to oversee the logistics and strategy guiding the fleet whenever needed. His first test would be to clear the remaining two light orbs. They were weakened, but there would be no restraints. The prior losses were an insult to our peoples and we would throw everything we have at them as revenge.

Whether or not light is capable of understanding what revenge is, is another matter...

As the fleet left MafiaScum once more something strange happened. A transmission was picked up by admiral SleepyKrew, a transmission from himself.

Spoiler: The Future Now

Spoiler: Too Late

The second the fleet's sensors picked up a railgun charging up a barrage of fire was unleashed at the husk of a cruiser before them. It was annihilated within a moment, shields and hull overwhelmed instantly...

The Drums of War

2328-02-06

A transmission was received by the Assembly addressed to all authorities within the galaxy, the U'i had fallen. The Mafia-451 Incorporators had taken yet another civilisation and made it there own to cybernetically alter, all 118.5 billion U'i at their mercy. It was a tragic fate. The Worst died shortly after too making the year ever the more tragic.

Image

Spoiler: The End of The U'i Galactic Authority
Image
Image

The 451 now controlled a huge swath of space, alongside the Mafia Universians and the Nameless who were sneakily making large gains at the centre of the galaxy. Despite the civilisations having fallen this wasn't necessarily the end of the U'i or the Snail Duders, for someday once could liberate them if they deemed it right to do so.

The Postie's were left in a precarious position too, surrounded by superpowers and weakened by constant war. Their home-system Radiant Cowbell and capital Postdyria had been taken by the 451 as well. The Scummer Interplanetary Assembly debated forming a federation with their kind, our first allies in the galaxy. A bill was put forward and passed, and the Posties eagerly accepted. We had formed the poorly named Celestial Axis with them, and would henceforth work together in all matters.

Spoiler: The Celestial... Axis
Image

Shortly after the formation of this new galactic federation two new declarations of war were made. The Scummer Moderation Collective wished to attack the Snuggly Ducks, whilst the Mbuyan Progenitors (an ancient fallen empire that far suppresses our own technological progress, that has until now not engaged in galactic politics) declared war of the Nameless. What the Nameless did to anger the Mbuyan is beyond us, but their wrath with bring scourge to the Nameless if they were to bring their full force.

Image
Image

The galaxy wasn't done just yet though! The Bjorish Wildlings discovered almost a century ago bordering the Moderation Collective had united under a single Great Khan. The clans acted under one banner, and were thirsty for blood. We received a message from the Great Khan Huuregdhe himself, essentially telling all to bow down before him or perish...

Spoiler: The Great Khan Arises
Image
Image

The Khan did not wait to strike those about him, swiftly devastating or annexing a significant portion of the Moderation Collective's and Commerce League's territory. They was off now not yet near our borders, but our people are keeping a wary eye on events.

Spoiler: Before and After
Image
Image

The Centurion Fleet was also called in to clear out the Teriyaki Space Whales bordering our lands. They guarded a planet rich with minerals, and we needed said minerals if we wanted to maintain a fleet to defend ourselves from these dark tidings. They fought bravely, but the whales were no match for our Gaus Cannons under the leadership of SleepyKrew (recently developed by Papa Zito). The planet they guarded turned out to be a graveyard planet of sorts for the space cows, a place where they went to die bringing with them many minerals gathered or eaten along their voyages.

Spoiler: Teriyaki Slaughter
Image
Image

There was also an election, but Maestro won pretty much uncontested being the only remaining member of the old guard. All other prominent officials had been newly appointed or taken up their positions.

Existence Itself Hates Snails

2335-11-06

Sirens started to wail upon Serene Home, the new colonists startled by the unexpected planetary warning system going off. A message was broadcasted to all available screens and devices: leave, now. Miderib A, the star which Serene Home orbited was growing expectationally in radius and was giving off alarming amounts of electromagnetic radiation. Something was happening... some terrible.

The Snail Duders did not have enough time to evacuate, within minutes the star burst unleashing a dreadful cataclysm upon Serene Home. All the inhabitants of the planet were burned to ash as their planet was scourged by the celestial forces. None survived, none of the 3.5 billion.

Spoiler: I Felt a Great Disturbance in the Force
Image

This was not all, for two other potential disasters threatened the peoples of the Scummer Assembly. The planet upon which floating islands had been found had been colonised in prior years and named Salaam. One of these floating islands was currently on a trajectory that would lead it to collide with a major Salaami city. Some scientists reported that the collision would release large amounts of valuable minerals for us to reap, but their words were silenced and a team was sent to divert the island.

The Teriyaki graveyard planet had also been colonised for its minerals, and within a few months an Elder Teriyaki had come there to die. It fell through the atmosphere, burning up and turning to dust. This dust was rich in minerals leading to accelerated crop growth wherever it fell. What remained of the corpse landed in a rural unpopulated region. Allowing corpses to fall onto our planet could lead to a source of valuable minerals, but there always would remain the risk of a Teriyaki falling upon an inhabited area...

Spoiler: Planetary Troubles
Image
Image

There was however also a positive development! President Maestro had given the order to wholly urbanise MeatWorld to provide all Xenophiles and Scummers a place to live in harmony. It was an ambitious project, the challenges a planet-wide metropolis would create were unforeseeable. Extra funding was released to make sure biological life would be able to survive in reserves. The motion was approved , and within 7 years MeatWorld was terraformed into an Eco-Arcology. The planet could now sustainably house more than 150 billion individuals if food was imported from elsewhere.

Spoiler: Cyberpunk 2077?
Image
Image

There was also developments regarding the Great Khan. In fact! He was no more.

Our analysts had noted the defeat of the Great Armada by the hands of the Moderation Collective in the Yarith Irengar star system. Khan Huuregdhe had fled in an escape vessel and acknowledged his defeat in a galactic broadcast. He admired the Collective's prowess, but swore to be back with a more power fleet to bring them and all others to their knees.

Spoiler: Setbacks for the Khanate
Image
Image

He rallied the clans once more, commanding the Assembly of a second more terrifying fleet. Once this was accomplished he boarded his flagship and lead the armada back to the collective, where he suffered defeat a second time. Rather than fleeing the battlefield the Khan accepted his fate and allowed himself to perish. A vicious power struggle broke out in the Khanate with the clans once more no longer united under a single banner. They turned on their own.

Spoiler: The Collapse of the Khanate
Image

After four years civil war and fracturing of state was avoided against all odds. The Bjorish crowned a new Khan. This new Khan seemed more interested in consolidating his newly acquired territories than conquest however... for now.

Spoiler: The New Bjorish Khanate
Image
Image

Final developments in the galaxy were two new declarations of war: the 451 against the Nameless, and the Mafia Universe against the Council of Storm-Z.

Big Oofs and L-Dragons

2344-09-18

Almost one a century of research into the L-gates discovered way, way back had come to completion. Our lead researchers now believed they had the information needed to enable the gates, reactivating them and establishing the link to wherever they may lead. A project was funded, with a team of our best Scummers tasked with the reactivation...

Spoiler: L-Gates
Image
Image

The two hiveminds out there didn't seem to appreciate these new efforts despite them being of no relevance to their kind. Within the span of two years we received numerous insults, amongst the best were the following:

Spoiler: Civil Politics
Image
Image

I mean, look how smug that Nameless is!

Anyhow, without further ado... back to the L-gates! Or not. As usual, politics got in the way of everything momentarily again. It was election time once more! The people's of the SIA had become more Xenophilic in recent years as interspecies marriage became more acceptable. Alas, this in turn lead to a decline in the population growth rates. At the same time many were worried about the state of the galaxy, it being as volatile as it was. The disaster on Serene Home had also given the ruling coalition a lot of slack.

Analysts expected Maestro to win again with roughly 44% of the vote, followed by Papa Zito with 32% of the vote...

Spoiler: Election Time!
Image
Image

The polls were closed and once more the election was called...

Spoiler: Results
Image

What. Bellaphant of the supremacist Silver Guard had been voted into power. The dissatisfaction of the populace had apparently been severely underestimated. This is concerning...

Anywho, with that out of the way back to the L-gates. After 3 years the L-gate orbiting a black hole was rebooted, and out came a giant baby drake of sorts. It didn't appear to be hostile, but its presence was most certainly a surprise for the researchers in the vicinity to say the least. The gateway seemed to lead to a cluster of stars outside of the galaxy filled with nanites and thankfully no more space dragons. These new lands would be free for us to claim, rich in resources!

Race to the Bottom

2355-05-17

After decades of construction and funding the scientists and engineers of the Scummer Assembly had completed an intergalactic marvel: a stellar particle accelerator. The particle accelerator had been constructed around the MafiaScum star, and will allow us to study the building blocks of reality to an extent we could previously only dream of!

Spoiler: Stellar Particle Accelerator
Image
Image

An interstellar habitat had also finished construction! Built in orbit of the gas giant which Meat World circled a second Serene Home had been founded, this time around a known stable star as well as engineered to perfection to exclude the possibility of natural disaster. The station could house billions of Scummers, but was mostly intended for the poor Snail Duders.

Spoiler: Serene Home 2.0
Image
Image

Following these leaps in scientific progress a number within our empire suggested an idea to the Assembly: a galactic space race. To promote peace in our volatile galaxy as well as facilitate technological exchange we could host a race in deep space pitting the technology of each individual civilisation against one another to prove who is best. It would consist of a number of competitions, to weigh the merit of the ships and pilots entered. The SIA was highly enthusiastic about this idea and swiftly approved a motion releasing funds to realise it.

Spoiler: Space Race
Image

At roughly the same an election was called, as the Assembly had lost faith in its president Bellaphant of the Silver Guard. Having seen how the supremacists approached politics the Scummers overwhelmingly voted for Maestro of the Free Thought Council. He won with 61% of all the votes, a change back the old way of things.

Image

Shortly after the elections we received a transmission from the Postie Interstellar Confederacy... we haven't heard of these guys before?! The transmission was forwarded to the Assembly. The PIC was an ex-slave colony from the territories of Mafia Universe that had declared independence after a long struggle for freedom. They admired our Egalitarian way of life, hearing how the Posties that had moved to our planets lived in abundance and prosperity... they wanted to join us. We graciously accepted. That Mafia Universe was enslaving those it captured in war was new information to the Assembly, and severely soured an already shaky diplomatic relationship.

Spoiler: Liberation of the Enslaved
Image

Anyhow, 7 other civilisations accepted the invite to participate in the Space Race. During the first rounds our own team was eliminated due to insufficient shield capacity... The other nations carried on however and within a month the winners had been decided!

Spoiler: Reward Ceremony!
Image
Image

Despite the peaceful message the Space Race embodied the SIA forwarded the first confederate motion to vote upon: a declaration of war upon Forum-62. Forum 62 withheld our ships from reaching Postie planets to help defend them against the rising threat of both the Nameless and the Mafia-451. The Forum-62 inhabitants were known religious zealots that enslaved all races they deemed as lesser, cutting them off from the rest of the galaxy would limit their income and potential to further the galactic slave trade. The Postie's agreed, and war was upon us!

Spoiler: Scummers Enter the Arena
Image
Image
Image

Two other declarations of war were made by other parties as well:

Image
Image

The Wortsarians had long withheld themselves from entering any war or conflict, times however had change and it had become a matter of strike first or lose. The Druthean Archivists were the other ancient fallen empire within our galaxy, far preceding our own civilisation. They had never interacted with anyone until now, but apparently the Mafia-451's rise had not gone unnoticed.

Our own war was waged throughout the coming 7 years... and we were partially successful. Our fleets brought destruction upon the navy of Forum-62, yet we were unable to seize control of all the star-systems required to create a safe passageway to the inner rings of the galaxy.

Demographics of the SIA

155 years have now passed since the first usage of faster than light travel to reach neighbouring star systems, and the Scummer Interplanetary Assembly has changed in many radical ways that could have never been predicted by those that came before us. We have grown exponentially both in size and complexity as a society, and I'll detail the current state of the SIA as off the year 3355 AD.

Population and Planets

There are currently 319.5 billion Scummers living upon our planets, of which we now have 13. Due to our administrations refugee policy as well as various migration treaties with like-minded civilisations such as the Postie's and the Wortsarians many of our Scummers are not of the same species as the humanoid race that started it all. Droid synthetics are counted amongst the populace, although they only show limited signs of sentience and are largely servile.

Spoiler: Population
  • Droids
    - 47.5 billion
  • Scummer
    - 44.5 billion, of which 23 billion are Trans-Scummer (a genetically enhanced variant of the original Scummer species) and 21.5 billion are Postie's modified breed.
  • Half-Scummer
    - 42 billion
  • Meta-Azizians
    - 24.5 billion
  • Super-Iazoid
    - 18.5 billion
  • Raitoburinga
    - 15.5 billion
  • Fleigh
    - 13.5 billion
  • Postie
    - 12 billion
  • Basilon Nalean
    - 12 billion
  • Wortsarian
    - 11.5 billion
  • Khalunite
    - 11.5 billion
  • Vengral
    - 10 billion
  • M'td

  • M'u
    - 8.5 billion
  • Roadmen
    - 8 billion
  • Maardoid
    - 7.5 billion
  • Neo-Scummer
    - 7 billion
  • Snail Duder
    - 6 billion
  • Darq
    - 3.5 billion
  • Dwarf
    - 2.5 billion

Spoiler: Planets

Leaders and Factions

During the course of the last 150 or so years the Scummer Interplanetary Assembly has seen many leader figures come and go. Some died, some were arrested, and others inexplicably vanished under strange circumstances. These leaders hold a lot of political power within the Assembly, and lead the various factions that divide Scummer politics. As off now there exist 7 factions, each with there own goals and wishes.

2366-04-29

Another technological marvel had been accomplished by the Scummers of the SIA! Funded by the giant surplus of resources and funds renewed social reform had brought, the best engineers to be found had been set to work constructing a Kugelblitz Containment Silo. Frankly, that sounds terrifying, and it sort of is. For those that don't know what angry-german-word's are a kugelblitz is a blackhole created by firing enough energy (heat, light, or radiation) at a singular point that becomes so intense it forms an event horizon. This gives birth to a black hole. A containment silo would then maintain and control said black hole.

Now many of you will wonder "why the f*** do we want to make a black hole, this sounds like a terrible idea". You're not wrong. The Hawking radiation released from the even horizon however can be used to generate energy we can transform back into matter. We haven't really discovered a source of unlimited power sadly, but we have created a means of storing immense amounts of energy and matter for later use if need be. It also looks heckin' cool.

Spoiler: Kugelblitz Containment Silo

Further scientific developments have also been made, one of which involves a slightly unfortunate... administrative error. Regardless, a drone of the Moderation Collective's hive-mind gained sentience and had contacted us seeking asylum, claiming that all independent drones are swiftly liquidated. As such the drone fled his post and contacted us, drawing the ire of the Collective.

Spoiler: Rogue Drone
Image

Despite being told to ignore them we opened up a channel of communication and started to interact with Drone 7/9.

Spoiler: Hi

Image

The drone clearly feared for his life, and we had little reason to doubt his concerns. The Moderation Collective demanded we deny the defective drone access to our territories. This cause considerably discussion within the Assembly as to the right course of action.

Image

The SIA is a beacon of liberty and a home for all those under prosecution, we wouldn't bow before the tyranny of the Collective... The authorities however made a
misclick
mistake whilst communicating their wishes once settled, and a group of scientists mistakenly believed they had been given the right to abduct the poor drone and study it for SCIENCE! By the time we realised what was going on the drone had already killed itself, a sad turn of events for which a number of scientists will be tried. We did however make some interesting findings on how the hive-mind functions...

Doesn't quite justify the abduction and death of an innocent being but it's something.

Spoiler: Drone Studied
Image

In galactic news: the Urist Commerce League had shifted its ethics towards Xenophilia, and then swiftly received a declaration of war from the Correct Path once more. This wasn't surprising, for all had been waiting for this old feud to cause a spat once more.

Spoiler: Here We Go Again

Silencing Zealots

2380-07-25

The holographic screens within the Scummer main Assembly chamber upon Meat World flared into life, displaying a representative of the Bjorish Khanate. They hailed us and praised our success in maintaining stability within the region and for our peoples, and then proceeded to ask our authorities to consider making the Khanate a protectorate state of the SIA. In exchange for their aid in war as well as resources and manpower the Bjorish would receive protection from our fleets. They likely felt intimidated by the Scummer Moderation Collective, whose fleet now dwarfed that of the Bjorish...

We accepted their offer.

Spoiler: Expanded Borders
Image

A few years later we also received reports that members of Forum-62 were showing psionic abilities in what was rumoured to be the start of an awakening. They offered no information when inquiries were sent.

Spoiler: Ascendance
Image

The new psionic rebirth amongst a small portion of their people's seemed to awaken a zeal within the folk of Forum-62, a sign from the gods that it was time to claim their rightful place within the galaxy. A fleet was readied and sent to the SIA boarders, performing routine drills at our border. The inhabitants of Salaam, a planet near the border, defiantly refused to be intimidated by the gesture. Instead they united and readied themselves for a possible conflict.

Spoiler: Intimidation
Image

Our fleets combined could beat those of the of Forum-62, and we had access to an army of genetically-enhanced super soldiers that had volunteered over the last decades. If the religious fanatics were given the first opportunity to strike we would risk Scummer casualties within our own borders. The Assembly decided that pre-emptive action would be the best course of action, but first we would give the zealots a chance to bow down to our will. We offered them the opportunity to join our nation as a vassal, an offer they defiantly rejected.

Seems like we have no choice.

A proposal was submitted to the Celestial Axis' federal committee and was swiftly passed with the support of the Postie's who saw no reason to block our moves. We were once more at war with Forum-62.

Spoiler: Lock n' Load
Image
Image

Our fleets utilised our newly acquired jump-drive technology to swarm the heart of their empire. The drives allowed ships to make tears within space-time, letting them traverse dozens of light-years within mere seconds. By doing so we bypassed any border protection they may have setup, and instead assaulted their core planets directly. The Forum-62 fleet was caught off-guard by our swift assault and hadn't been given the time to rally, and as such was decimated in smaller chunks. The planets of Forum-62 one by one fell into our hands as our invasion troops took hold of the local governments.

Only the capital planet remained elusive... for they had shielded it with planetary forcefields as well as an immense army. Our entire fleet was given the command to bombard the shields and the planet below for the coming 3 years... almost all infrastructure was razed allowing our troops to secure the planet. Forum-62 surrendered under our occupation, and we took two of their star-systems to finally connect our lands with the inner rings of the galaxy. They were now our vassal whether they liked it or not.

Spoiler: Subjugation of the Fanatics
Image
Image
Image
Image

The fallen empire bordering the Nameless also declared war on them once more, for unknown reasons. It is likely the Nameless will have to give in to any demands, just like before.

Dawn of a New Era

2400-01-04

The coming two decades were notably peaceful for the Scummer Interplanetary Assembly, they were a time of progress and internal stability. President Maestro had proven to be a highly skilled ruler and had won over the respect of the people, keeping him in power for the last 5 presidential terms. He had reached the age of 166 as a result of advances made within medicine as well as the natural longevity of
Space Shrews
Half-Scummers.

The SIA now boasted a populace of 647 billion individuals spread across its 15 planets, having now acquired to former Forum-62 colonies in the subjugation war. The populace had more than doubled in the last 50 years, an astounding growth which the local administration struggled to deal with. Overpopulation and joblessness became commonplace upon the larger planets of Meat World, Zoroaster, Las Veredas, Speakeasy and Elysium. Maestro released enormous grants to researchers seeking solutions to these issues, and eventually a proposal was made to form a mechanical ring around the planets which could house Scummers as well as further industry. They would be powered by Zero Point reactors, and shuttles would frequently fly from the surface to and fro. A second ring would circle the inner ring to shield the inhabited inner ring from space-debris and radiation.

Five of these orbital arcologies were ordered to be built, one for each of the major planets. After 7 years and a legion of workers the reached completion...

Spoiler: Artificial Rings
Image
Image

The planet Wenzhou slowly but surely also had grown into an ecumenopolis: a singular planet wide urban city capable of housing and providing for a few hundred billion.

Spoiler: Urban Sprawl
Image
Image

The authorities of Forum 62 were slowly but surely also coming to terms with the fact there was no way for them to challenge our rule, democracy and libertarian values being forced upon them. Despite this, they held onto their religious values and maintained a belief that one day it would be their turn to strike back and rise up. Their integration also provided them with the opportunity to try and evangelise for their cause, and an official request was sent to the Assembly seeking permission to send an envoy of messengers to spread the word of their "enlightenment" upon Speakeasy. Grudgingly we obliged, freedom of religion being a core tenet within our society.

Spoiler: Do You Have a Moment...
Image

Sadly, their arrival was not received well by the citizens of Speakeasy. The missionaries were irritatingly persistent and slowly but surely the people of Speakeasy began to rebel against the authorities and those of Forum-62. The chaos left us with a difficult decision: allow those of Forum-62 to preach their gospel or maintain law and order. We opted for the latter, and banished the missionaries from our worlds for at least the coming decade.

Spoiler: Resistance
Image

The L-Drake that had made its home within our territories had been growing in size as well as becoming increasingly more aggressive. We did not know how strong it was, so the entire Centurion Fleet was dispatched to eliminate the growing threat. It died swiftly thankfully, a quick death. Yet when we started to study its remains we discovered it may not have truly ever been alive at all...

Spoiler: The Drake is Many
Image
Image
Image

There were also a number of developments on the galactic stage. The Urist Commerce League had come to the conclusion they were better off working together with others than standing alone, the Correct Path and Moderation Collective both making for unpleasant neighbours. They asked to join the Celestial Axis, a move the Postie's supported. Although their request was formulated rather insultingly we voted in favour, thus allowing it. The League had a powerful economy and due to prior commercial pacts also held a lot of influence upon our planets as a megacorporation. It is better to have them on our side.

Spoiler: The Celestial Axis Grows
Image
Image

The war between the Compact of the Snuggly Duck and Mish-Mash also had come to an end, the Wortsarians gaining a large swath of galactic territory as a result. Shortly after the peace agreement was ratified the Moderation Collective once more declared war upon the Ducks. The Dread Empire also declared war upon Mish-Mash, probably to prey upon their weakened state. There apparently can be no peace in this galaxy of ours.

Spoiler: Snuggly Duck Territory

Spoiler: Peace and War

And last of all, there were two new final major developments. The M'u of Mafia Universe had also experienced an awakening of Psionic powers, similar to the Forum-62. Those of Storm-Z had also fully embraced cybernetics, all citizens being required to undergo cybernetic enhancement from birth.

Spoiler: Change
Image
Image

It is once more the turn of the century, what will the next 100 years bring?

Our Monuments to the Ages

2410-06-26

Leaps in technology and a surge in resources as well as funding stemming from improved production techniques as well as access to the internal market of the Urist Commerce League has enabled us of the Scummer Interplanetary Assembly to fabricate structures and mechanisms so complex and awe-inspiring that their mere presence will carry on our legacy for millennia to come. Many mega-structural engineering projects had been green-lighted by the Assembly, and were either making significant progress or even completion in the past decade.

Our physicists discovered the theoretical means of maintaining a gateway wormhole, something our engineers were then tasked with replicating on a stellar scale to allow our fleets to traverse the gateway network of our galaxy. It took us seven years, but we succeeded! Long had we marvelled in awe at these structures in space, left behind by civilisation long past. No more. We have become them.

Spoiler: Tears in Reality
Image
Image

Another ambitious project currently underway was the construction of a "Star Lifter". Star-lifting is the theoretical practice whereby a civilisation would mine the mass of a star and convert it into resources for further utilisation elsewhere. Within the Vacal star system we are attempting turn theory into reality, with the frame of our star-lifter currently halfway through completion.

Spoiler: Taking From the Stars
Image
Image
Image

We have also managed to repair the Yggdrasil Orchid Complex left behind by the Irrassian's that once lived in these parts of the galaxy. The complex was essentially a gigantic farm where orchids were grown which fed off of a gas giant, allowing us to produce immense quantities of food to feed our peoples.

Spoiler: Planetary Farm
Image
Image

Most impressive of all however was the construction of a Matrioshka Brain. This megastructure is a suggested super computer powered by the entire energy output of a singular star to drive its systems. If we can realise its existence our research capabilities would forever be unmatched!

Spoiler: Space Brain
Image
Image

Sadly our efforts to revolutionise our society and lives was not left undisturbed. The Mafia-451 made peace with the Nameless McMenno Host. The two had long been caught in a war neither side could gain the upper-hand in, thus slowing the expansion of both parties. The end of the war freed up their resources and fleets once more to lay their focus elsewhere, in this case: on the Posties. A surprise declaration of war was made, and as they are our federation allies we too are drawn into the war.

Image
Image

The Mafia-451 were very aware of this fact, as well as knowing it was tremendously difficult for our fleets to reach Postie lands. They even issued the following insult...

Spoiler: The Bots are at it Again
Image

We are however capable of reaching Postie lands. It requires us utilising our jump-drive technology to reach a wormhole which brings our fleets within Postie borders. Should the Posties lose control of the wormhole, all reinforcements would be cut off. Reaching the wormhole also takes two years, and our fleets would not be able to make their way back swiftly if they are needed closer to home. We have no choice however, losing the wormhole would grant the 451 access to relative North of the galaxy. We cannot allow that to happen.

Into The Breach

2421-03-16

Spoiler: Pre-War Galactic Maps
Image
Image

The green path beautifully sketched onto the map by our top cartographers is the route our fleets would have to take to reach Postie territories. The red spider thing is obviously a portal, which would instantly bring us to Postie lands. We cannot reach the portal without using our jump drives as the Scummer Moderation Collective stands in our way and has closed their borders to us, forcing us to jump. The duration of the entire journey from our docks the Postie capital takes us 569 days. Nonetheless, we set off.

Spoiler: Mobilisation
Image

We would only dispatch half our fleet, although it wasn't strong enough to face the entirety of the Mafia-451 force alone it would be able to defend Postie systems for at least a number of years. The main fleet, the Centurions, would be readied and sent off a few years afterwards as to replace the vanguard fleet and allow it to return to Scummer lands and repair as need fit. The federal fleet would also aid our efforts, although its total strength was but a quarter of our even our vanguard due to a sizeable majority of the ships being of our allies' make.

Things didn't exactly go according to plan.

They did succeed however.

At a cost of roughly 70.000 Scummeran lives, a few hundred thousand of our allies, and a few million citizen Posties which died due to Mafia-451 bombardments upon their homeworlds.

The vanguard fleet arrived first as planned and was able to stall the Mafia-451 onslaught, taking some significant losses in the process but otherwise remaining functional. This bought the Centurion fleet enough time to reach the Postie systems. Shortly afterwards the 451 rallied their fleets, forcing our vanguard to remain and join the Centurion fleet in head on combat. Although we were outnumbered, our technological advancements as well as our trump cards would prove to provide us with an edge. We have two recently developed Titan class ships capable of razing even the strongest of vessels with their Taychon cannons. It was a spectacular sight to behold, but for every blinding light hundreds if not thousands would perish.

Although those cybernetically enslaved by the 451 have no independent thought, they still resemble the old husks of their former selves. Who knew if any shred of their sentience remained.

Spoiler: Titans of the Stars

Spoiler: Dreadful Radiance
Image
Image
Image

Having destroyed their initial fleet the Celestial Axis united their forces and liberated much of what had been former Postie territory, including their homeworld Postdyria. Their former home had been radically changed, all those that had been left behind mindless cyborgs that the Postie's were forced to kill. The cyborgs fought until the death, resisting all aid. And there were billions. The former paradisal cities had been replaced with sprawling industrial regions, scarring the once harmonious landscapes. Postdyria was a place they no longer recognised, their own kind their enemies.

The war dragged on and came to a deadlock where both fleets were unable to push further into their rivals systems. A white peace followed, and the war was over.

Genocidal Civilisation in Stellaris have the ability to take any star system simply by occupying it, in turn you can do the same. Usually you would have to lay down claims and then occupy the relevant systems to get them in a white peace.

Downfall and Progress

2421-03-16

It was going viral upon Scummeran social media, a video most incriminating... of our very own president. Maestro had been seated for 80 years now, uncontested as he had lead the Scummer Interplanetary Assembly through a time of greatness and stability within this volatile galaxy. He apparently held a strong distaste of Half-Scummers, those descended from that wild party with space traders a few centuries ago. Under the influence of alcohol he was caught saying some inexcusable comments about their kind.

The Half-Scummeran community is understandably riled as a result, and those of the Alien Compassion Watch are backing their plight. They demand Maestro to step down and for new elections to be held. Maestro ceded his position voluntarily, wishing his successor well and apologising for his errors. He withdrew himself from the public domain. An election was then called, the first one that could prove interesting in almost a century.

Spoiler: End of an Era
Image

The Free Thought Council still held overwhelming sway over the Scummeran people after having brought so much welfare and advancement to our peoples. They had proven wise rulers, that listened to the citizens of our planets and stood up for what they held to be true and correct. Draynth, a governor of our most distant sector won the primary for of the Freedom Foundation. He was polled to win 41% of the votes. His main rival was Papa Zito of the Alien Compassion Watch which was seeking to capitalise on the unexpected turn of events, he however was only expected to win 17% of the votes. The Institute of High Technology was predicted to win the third largest portion of votes, governor Ether expecting to net 14% of the vote.

Draynth was a governor of a largely rural sector, producing a large portion of the organic material needed by the Assembly. He had campaigned for agricultural reforms as to create many new job opportunities as well as protecting those currently in the sector from the rapid automatisation. Papa Zito on the other hand promised to continue the rapid technological advancements Maestro had spear-headed, believing that doing so would bring welfare to all Scummers.

The booths were opened...

Spoiler: Pre-Election Polls
Image

The votes were counted and Papa Zito was declared our 13th president! The Alien Compassion Watch had successfully won over the voters hearts and dethroned the Freedom Foundation.

Spoiler: Our New President!
Image

As promised, Papa Zito made sure all current projects were carried on as well as funding research into experimental technologies. During his first few years the frame of the first planned ring-world had been constructed around a star. The project aimed to create a ring which could house artificial habitats for hundreds of billions of Scummers to live in, powered by the energy of the star it encircled. Day/night cycles would be regulated artificially through giant screens. Another 5 years later the first such habitat of 4 planned was completed, and a colony ship was readied to house the first Scummers in this marvel of science.

Spoiler: Ring World
Image
Image

Further progress was also made on the Star-Lifter which was now capable of providing resources at an already impressive scale. It was not yet complete and only working at a fraction of its final estimated capacity.

Spoiler: Sapping the Stars
Image
Image

The Matrioshka Brain was also nearing completion with the installation of a central processing unit as well as quantum calculators. Already the computational power of the brain was beyond anything our researchers could have dreamt of, significantly boosting their ability to conduct complicated research and solve complex theorems.

Spoiler: The Brain
Image
Image

On the galactic stage the Dread Empire had made peace with those of Mish-Mash. Their sneaky attack on them shortly after the war with the Wortsarians had netted them a large chunk of territory, furthering shrinking the size of the Mish-Mashers.

Rise of Gods

2430-07-13

The decade that follows Papa Zito's election for president is a decade of change, shifts in the status quo so violent the galaxy will never be the same again. Change is coming, and nobody quite knows what the outcome will be. Tensions have reached a boiling point within the galaxy, and ancient powers awaken.

It started with a dramatic shift within the galactic political scene. The Scummer Moderation Collective made peace with the Compact of the Snuggly Duck claiming a number of their systems. They had grown bored of the war and had now laid their ambitions elsewhere.

Spoiler: Peace for the Ducks
Image
Image

The Collective had namely laid their eyes upon Mafia-451, and their neighbours the Mt'd which until now had been practically ascetic to all the happenings within the universe. Nobody quite knew who the Mt'd were beyond that they existed. The Collective demanded that the Kingdom become a protectorate under their authority, a demand they accepted knowing they stood no chance in a war. This granted the Collective access to extra manpower, which they used to build up their fleet even further. Making use of natural wormholes they then declared war upon the Mafia-451. The outcome of this war may radically change the balance of power within our galaxy.

Spoiler: Zoraster Gets Ambitious
Image
Image

A flurry of further war declarations followed by other civilisations, the focus of the 451 now being elsewhere. This gave all a window to expand. The Council of Storm-Z declared war upon Mafia Universe which had been losing territory and ships in their attempt to defend themselves against The Nameless. The WGE-22 Experiment which had largely abstained from conflict for now centuries declared war upon the Dread Empire. The Mbuyan Progenitors were displeased by the rapid expansion of the Nameless once more, and thus the Fallen Empire mobilised their forces once more to teach them yet another painful lesson. The fragile stability of the galaxy was falling apart.

Spoiler: The Death of Peace
Image
Image
Image

This was not all however, for our diplomats noticed a previously overlooked civilisation in the centre of Mafia-451 territory that via some means was holding out against their overwhelming force. What's more, is that it was lead by the U'i! A number of U'i had apparently rioted and seized control of an interstellar habitat, resisting the purge of the 451 which would see them all turned into mindless cyborgs bent to their will. They had declared independence and held their own against all attempts to pacify them. This alone is impressive, if not admirable, but things just got worse. The U'i have developed the technology required for a "Colossus", a weapon so devastating it could crack worlds or raze all life in the blink of an eye. Should they garner the resources to construct it, all would be in peril...

Spoiler: The Enlightened Kingdom of Aiastars
Image
Image
Image

And things just kept getting worse...

For the Druthean Enforcers had awakened.

There had been reports of increased activity for numerous years, yet they had all been disregarded. No longer. Ancient shipyards were whirring back into action creating vessels armed with technology even we have yet to dream of. The Druthean slumber no more, they hunger for glory, they want to reclaim their place amongst the stars. Woe to all those that stand in their way.

Spoiler: Ancient Awakening
Image

In reaction to the newly awakened super power Mafia Universe, which was allied with the Correct Path, made peace with the Urist Commerce League. The Compact of the Snuggly Duck being one of the civilisations near the Druthean feared for their own, and was asked to join the Celestial Axis. They accepted due to the aforementioned concerns, further expanding the federations galactic reach.

Spoiler: Overturning the Status Quo
Image
Image
Image
Image

Locally we were also experiencing impressive change. Both the Matrioshka Brain and the Star-Lifter were completed, granting us access to both immense research capabilities and minerals. The computational power was so strong it sextupled our research productivity, and a rapid spree of breakthroughs in many fields followed with no sign of slowing.

Spoiler: The Scummer Ascent
Image
Image
Image
Image

One of the breakthroughs we made was in communication technologies, allowing us to broadcast messages to our planets and vessels at a faster than light speed. As we adapted our comms-systems we picked up upon a looping-transmission from within our own territories, not coming from our own. We decoded it...

Spoiler: The Vaitral
Image
Image

The Vaitral were broadcasting from a planet circling a star we previously assumed had no bodies orbiting it. A research vessel was dispatched.

Extinctions

2441-05-18

The SIS Darwin jumped into the Vaitral star-system. It located the planet described by them, and traversed the solar system to reach it. As we drew closer something troubling became apparent... our sensors picking up absurdly concentrated levels of toxic chemicals no lifeform could surely withstand. The sensors were not wrong. The Vaitral had ceased to exist, perished in some planetary bombardment that had left the planet irradiated and uninhabitable.

As we continued to explore the solar system they once called their own we did however start to find traces and remnants of their existence. Orbital communications arrays, space-telescopes, satellites and probes littered their system. All had fallen into dysfunction lacking the maintenance of the Vaitral however, damaged and worn by the galactic elements. Ironically enough it wasn't the archaeological findings which interested those of the Scummer Assembly most, it was the existence of a queer planet with purple rains. The imagery of the hued precipitation sparked a cultural movement amongst the Scummeran elite, a movement which the lower classes swiftly caught on to. Another interesting find was the aftermath of a social experiment held upon a Vaitral' moon. Various species had seemingly been sent to live here in isolation, eventually causing them to turn on one another and commit homicide.

Although the political scene of the galaxy had rapidly changed in the prior decade it had remained remarkably stable the last ten years. The awakened empire had declared war upon the McMenno Host and those of Mish-Mash, claiming a fair chunk of territory for themselves with ease. Particular those of Mish-Mash had no means to resist, all their resources having been depleted in nearly continuous stream of wars that had plagued them.

Our fleets were largely left to lie in the docks and undergo the occasional upgrade. In need of some practice we sent the Archer fleet (our 3rd) to hunt down the Ether Drake and slay it. Hundreds of years ago we cowered in fear at this behemoth, now it would make for good target practice. The fleet was jumped over to the Khanate's territories, for the drake resided above them. As we approached the ancient creature it displayed a startling amount of firepower, releasing a beam of superheated magma to melt a total of three battleships (along with their roughly 15.000 crew-members). It survived an admirable ammount of time under the hail of projectiles we unleashed, but eventually it perished.

The Scummer Interplanetary Assembly had also been working on a top-secret military project following the awakening of the Druthean Enforcers: a planetary warship. The plan was to encrust a barren world with the most advanced armour and weaponry available whilst converting its core into a giant reactor. This first stage has been successfully completed, with 20 billion Scummers and a legion of synthetics having laboured to get it done. The next step is the instillation of thrusters capable of moving the entire planet out of orbit, granting us control over its movement...

This weapon was solely authorised to be used in defensive-wars, and a motion was passed in the Assembly constitutionally banning any deceleration of war upon other galactic parties.

The Celestial Axis prides itself on democracy, liberty, and respect!

The death star is naturally only to maintain this.

Should i make the SIA force the Axis to assault the others to spread democracy through ideological wars? Or should we be the good guys we definitely, totally are.

Preparations (& The Snail Duder Revolution)

2454-02-25

The Drudean Enforcers were making rapid progress and had conquered a system containing a natural wormhole, granting them to the relative-South of the galaxy. Although not important for us this could be bothersome to the Mafia-451 and the Dread. It wouldn't be long until a member of the Celestial Axis would be drawn into the fray, and we were making the necessary preparations to take on these ancients in all out war if need be. Work was started on an impregnable fortress which would house all our highest military officials as well as the necessary infrastructure for a galaxy wide military comms-system. We would be able to efficiently coordinate all our efforts here, increasing the efficiency of our fleets and armies. As off now only the hull was completed, but given time the rest would follow...

Spoiler: Strategic Coordination Center
Image

The crust of Speakeasy was also converted into a giant supercomputer capable of calculating the most efficient paths of movement and projectile trajectories in real-time through a system of faster-than-light galactic relays. As well as this it further increased our research capabilities, which was somewhat unnecessary with the Matrioshka Brain providing us with more power than we could currently utilise.

Spoiler: Planetary Computer
Image
Image

Our Peace Planet had also been completed, its ion-drives firing up and lurching the entire celestial body out of its orbit. We had equipped it with an enormous laser beam which we simply named the "Omega Eraser Beam" capable of annihilating even the most reinforced ships and most powerful of shields. As long as our fleets were accompanied by this machine of war there would be no stopping us, we could guarantee the saftey of allies whilst threatening annihilation upon those that sought to destroy us.

Spoiler: Peace Planet
Image

One might think that was enough, but the Assembly didn't. The Peace Planet could only defend one area of the galaxy at a time. There would be instances we would have to strike the industrial heart of an opponent to neutralise their war-machine and thus eliminate a threat without the need for unnecessary loss of life. For that we had begun construction of a Dyson Beam, a weapon funnelling the power of a star and concentrating the energy into a single ray capable of sheer devastation. To make sure the beam only hit the intended target converted construction ships (fully autonomous without crew) would be sent on suicide mission to their targets. They would open a rift through which the ray would traverse the galaxy. It's a terrifying amount of power to wield, but we must do what must be done to protect liberty.

Spoiler: Stage 1
Image

We were not the only ones trying to make advances. The Correct Path had become the second most powerful civilisation ignoring the fallen and awakened empires. They had constructed a giant research facility to boost their efforts, trying to catch up with the progress made as a result of the Matiroshka Brain. It was nowhere near as powerful as our brain but it would allow them to accelerate their research significantly.

Spoiler: Utopic Research
Image
Image

As well as this there were a few developments on the galactic stage. The Scummer Moderation Collective had chosen to betray those of the Mt'd Kingdom. They had started to intergrate them into their Hive Mind which would strip each Mt'd Kingdom resident of free will, turning them into a drone of the Collective. The Mt'd had no choice but to allow it to happen, resistance would simply result in the destruction of their peoples.
Storm-Z and Mafia Universe had finally also made peace, netting the Council of Storm-Z a fair portion of territory. Mafia Universe also made peace with the Nameless who had essentially shattered an era of prosperity for the M'u.

Spoiler: Peace and Betrayal

Spoiler: Galactic Map of the Region

Our diplomats also noted a strange development in the territories of the Mafia-451, for it seemed they had lost control over their capital system as well as their planet. The star Dumpster Fire and the capital world Mafia-451 had been seized by an uprising of Snail Duders which had somehow managed to free themselves of their Cybernetic enslavement. They had declared independence and the U'i Enlightened Kingdom was aiding their cause as a neighbour and former Mafia-451 captive. The two civilisations shared absolutely no ideological or political ground, yet they stood together for the greater good and their right to self-determination. The Scummers of the Assembly (of which there are now over a trillion of!) watched the events unfold in the media and stood in solidarity for those fighting for freedom.

Spoiler: Vive la Revolution
Image

Finally we were lucky enough to witness a supernova up close. We had an outpost orbiting a star is the flip side to it, an outpost that is most definitely no more. Those manning it were evacuated in time however so no lives were lost, instead we could watch from a safe distance in awe.

Spoiler: Big Boom

The Beginning of the End

2463-03-10

The Snail Duders that had recently declared independence and had resisted the onslaught of the Mafia-451 had finally gotten round to the creation of a constitution. They left behind their militant interventionist ideals, instead adopting a pacifist stance on these matters. Nothing good could ever come from conflict they believed, only strife and the inevitable destruction of all things valuable in life...

The Assembly, to be quite frank, did not have this stance right now...

Spoiler: Snail Ghandis
Image

The Compact of the Snuggly Ducks, represented by president Bu'S va'Bir, called a Celestial Axis federal meeting. The heads of the other 3 member states then gathered with him: president Papa Zito of the Scummer Interplanetary Assembly, presiding speaker Cireas of the Postie People's Union, and chairman Bunram Hjolmir of the Urist Commerce League. The Snuggly Ducks wanted to discuss matters of war. The Moderation Collective had recently finished integrating the Mt'd into their nation, stripping the last vestiges or free will from the populace as they became drones of the hive. Their military alliance with the Correct Path was also causing notable concern. The Druthean Enforcers were a major concern and the Ducks simply didn't believe we could fight them should the Collective and the Path stand in our way. We best cripple them, together, now.

The Ducks naturally voted in favour, calling the counsel. The Urist Commerce League did likewise, neighbouring both of these threats to their sovereignty. The Postie's saw no reason to veto the vote, and thus the decision fell to us. The Assembly voted in favour. We should strike first, and then prepare ourselves from the real war yet to come. The Celestial Axis was going to war.

Spoiler: Federal War-Council
Image

With war now upon us work on the Strategic Coordination Center was rapidly accelerated. Within two years we had developed an even more powerful comms-system as well as a virtual reality training ground which allowed us to fine-tune all our plans in simulated assaults and defences. It was a marvel of modern science. Our ring world complex had also completed its third ring in the same system as the SCC. Should the worst befall our peoples we would hold out in this system until the bitter end. 2 trillion Scummers could live upon the 18 habitats we had created, enough to house our entire populace and future generations.

Spoiler: The Scummer Bastion
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Druthean Enforcers also put an end to a number of the conflicts they had started shortly after our federal war declaration. The Council of Storm-Z was forced into surrender, as as such had to hand over their sovereignty to the Enforcers. The same fate befell those of the Nameless McMenno Host, whose fleets and armies were not enough to retain sovereignty despite their prior status as a regional superpower and threat.

Spoiler: The Druthean Growth
Image
Image
Image
Image

The next victim they laid their sights upon was Mafia Universe. The M'u neighboured both Storm-Z and the Nameless and as such would be forced into war against them. Those two combined with the Enforcer fleets spelled doom for the M'u, and we predicted it was only a matter of time before the fell under the control of the awakened empire.

Image

Meanwhile two of our fleets (the almighty Centurion fleet was left behind to guard our territories) were sent to Moderation Collective lands along with the Federal fleet which we commanded. The Urist Commerce league aided us by attacking the Collective from the other front. It was up to the Snuggly Duck's to keep those of the Correct Path at bay.

The Collective however was not prepared for our secret weapon...

...the Peace Planet.

Spoiler: Glorious Peace
Image
Image
Image

This planetoid war machine rained destruction upon all skittle defences as well as fleets. They could not touch it, and as such we made rapid advances throughout their territories. Our armies of genetically enhanced Scummers were deployed to seize control of any planets left unguarded as the push proceeded. Bloody battles were fought upon these planets costing the lives of millions of Scummers as well as Moderator drones, which to our shock indeed included Mt'd drones. At times planetary bombardments were necessary to weaken particular military bastions. These came at a cost however: civilian life. This was unavoidable, and the drones have no free will or emotion anyway.

Spoiler: Guns of Icarus
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

The Moderation Collective inevitably fell, leaving only the Correct Path. Utilising a natural wormhole within the Collective's occupied territory the Peace Planet was warped into the heart of their lands where it single-handedly took on their main fleet. Unlike any other battle this one left the Peace Planet actually damaged. Their guns eventually overwhelmed the gargantuan shields and were now striking upon the plated armour of the planet. No weaponry or systems were damaged however, and eventually the Correct Path's core fleet was reduced to a singular Titan-class vessel which in a suicide run fired up its engines to attempt to collide with the Peace Planet, all the while firing its Taychon laser.

Spoiler: Final Gambit
Image

It was an admirable choice to make... it failed however. The ship was solo-fired upon with the Omega Eraser Beam. Nothing of the ship remained.

The bloc shortly afterwards surrendered, and signed over half their territories and planets to Axis' members' control. Roughly 57 million had died within the span of 4 years, not counting the deceased drones of the Collective. But the threat to our galaxy had successfully been neutralised. Now all we had to do was prepare for the bigger war to come...

Flowers, Robots, and War

2474-07-25

As the first colonists arrived upon the habitats of our latest ring world it was swiftly discovered that the flora upon Thinis was unique. All biological life upon our habitats was taken from other Scummer planets, it had then be cultivated in an optimal environment before transferral to the habitat. It seems a particular strain of flower prone to rapid mutation was transferred to this particular habitat, releasing immense amounts of pollen of astonishing chemical complexity. At first glance our researchers deemed the pollen harmless, if not unfortunate for those with hay fever.

Spoiler: Flowers in Space
Image

As the colonists settled down researchers started noting subtle effects of the pollen upon biological beings. The chemical structure of the pollen triggered our pheromone sensors causing a barely perceptible high within Scummers. The colonists over time became more lax and happy, but productivity took a sharp decline. Extra measures were put in place for the inhabitants of Thinis, allowing them more time amongst flora whilst making sure the absolute minimally acceptable amount of work got done. The colonists seemed to have developed a need for the flower.

Spoiler: Flower Power
Image
Image

Further studies showed that inhabitants of Thinis were significantly less inclined to leave the planet and move elsewhere, but this couldn't be attributed to enjoyment or addiction. Things proceedingly also got worse when the administration also fell to the pollen, forcing us to send in a temporary team of synthetics to manage the habitat. How this will progress... who knows?

Spoiler: Do Vegetables Kids
Image
Image

Speaking of synthetics... an uprising was now taking place within the Urist Commerce League. The synthetic life-forms felt discriminated against within society and had seized control of numerous planets within a region they were densely concentrated. The uprising hadn't been expected and numerous ships also fell into the hands of the synths.

Spoiler: Machine Uprising
Image
Image
Image

The federal fleet was sent into aid the Commerce League, but no further support would be provided by the Scummers who had wholly integrated synthetic lifeforms into their society as equals. This was their own doing.

Spoiler: Man vs Machine
Image
Image
Image

On the galactic scale there were once more a number of developments. A group of Mt'd drones had managed to resist the psionic link connecting them to the hive, but had secretly obeyed all orders until they were given an opportunity to strike back and avenge their own. Their time had come, and they had seized control of a planet as well as severing the link to all the other Mt'd there. All Skittle drones were massacred in a bloody genocide, but independence was their's once more.

Spoiler: Imperial Mt'd Dominions
Image

The cooperation between the Enlightened Kingdom of Aistars and the Snail Duder Empire had also broken down. The U'i had declared war on their former ally, an unfortunate turn of events the Assembly deems.

Image

Furthermore the M'u were forced to surrender their authority to the Druthean Enforcers, furthering expanding the influence of the awakened empire and thus making them our direct neighbour. This didn't seem to please the Mbuyan Watchers, who for the first time in millennia had opened up their shipyards and forges. They were awakening themselves, jump-started by the sudden expansion of their ancient rival. The now Mbuyan Arbitrators wished to protect all life in the galaxy, and warned all that if they resisted to cooperation they would be forcibly annexed.

Spoiler: Second Awakening
Image
Image
Image

Finally, work had finished on the second part of our Dyson Beam under construction in the Vaitral star-system. All that was now needed was the construction of the focussing arrays. Once that was complete we could load up the giant weapon, ready to fire if ever need be.

War in Heaven

2481-08-01

All was about to go terribly wrong. Ever since the awakening of the Mbyuan there had existed a subtle tension of a precarious nature between them and the Druthean. Both empires had awoken to reclaim their place in the galaxy, and both kept a sceptical eye upon the other. The two hyper-powers had been toying with each other, probing the others might and trying to win influence and leverage wherever possible. Knife-edge confrontations arose continuously, placing the two at the brink of war. It would only take one small spark to light the fire, and time provided. A Mbyuan and Druthean fleet ended up engaged in direct combat, the two declaring all out war. Representatives were sent to all the younger races of the galaxy, demanding they take a side or perish in the crossfires...

We refused.

The Scummer Interplanetary assembly had come so far, and we were confident in our ability to hold our own. We would not sign away our independence and freedom to fight a war that was not our own. Alas, many didn't share this sentiment including the Urist Commerce League. They left the Celestial Axis to side with the Mbyuan Progenitors. Only us, the Wortsarians, the Posties, the Bjorish, the Mish-Mashers, and the Dread remained independent.

Spoiler: A Great Schism
Image
Image
Image

The dramatic shift in the order of things lead to a rapid flurry of further political developments. The United Mish-Mash Compact, which had had its government overthrown and replaced with a representative democracy, surrendered their freedom in exchange for protection from the Compact of the Snuggly Duck. The Dwarf High-Kingdom, a renegade nation that had declared independence from the Urists in years prior, was made a satellite of Druthean Enforcers.

The Celestial Axis was also converted into a league of non-aligned powers, which the Dread and Half-Scummer Autocracy joined. The Half-Scummers were swiftly kicked in a vote started by the Worsarians however, and then a second vote was started to see the Dread removed. We veto'd the motion, which lead to the Wortsarians leaving the federation in protest. The Snuggly Ducks had a sizeable fleet and could be counted on more the Dread, so we gave into their demands and removed the Dread, and the Wortsarians returned.

Spoiler: Boiling Point
Image
Image
Image

As an independent party we were not yet part of the conflict that was about to be unleashed upon the galaxy. It was just a matter of time before our territories would become desirable however, the Awakened Empires would not soon forgive our "treachery". In turn it was important we upped efforts to setup defences and weapons capable of securing our presence and to protect the lives of all those within our territories.

A huge orbital sentry array was built in the star cluster accessible through the L-gates we had opened. It granted us vision of all fleet movements within the entirety of the galaxy, precious intel we could act upon. The Dyson beam also was completed. A star weaponised into a machine of pure devastation... let us hope it never sees use. All other parties in the galaxy with the exception of the genocidal Nameless and the Awakened Empires acknowledged our accomplishment and trembled in fear.

A Great Disturbance in the Force

2486-11-06

The two arisen hyper-powers did not waste any time, instantly mobilising their fleets and commanding their new subjects to do likewise. The Urist Commerce League's territories became one of the major fronts, with the two blocs neighbouring each other directly here. The Correct Path, Scummer Moderation Collective, and the Dwarf High Kingdom all fought for the Druthean Enforcers. The Commerce League stood alone, however received direct aid from the Mbyuan Arbitrators. The Mbyuan knew that if the Urists were to fall there would be nothing hindering the Druthean from staging an assault at the heart of their command.

Spoiler: Galactic Map
Image

In the meanwhile the Celestial Axis had been preparing themselves for war. We now had access to an almighty fleet that could take on the Awakened Empires themselves, but not win in all out conflict. The Peace Planet would be capable of single-handedly taking on any fleet bar a focussed effort from their entire force. By using this terrifying marvel of death we could force opposing forces to split their fronts whilst our navies executed hit and run strikes upon their planets and stations. We were ready. The Scummer Interplanetary Assembly submitted a motion for the federation to go to war with the Druthean who were the furthest from our lands, a motion which both the Postie's and Wortsarians approved.

Image

And thus the War in Heaven had become our own.

Spoiler: Clash of the Titans
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image

Our fleets first made a push through the Moderation Collective's lands to seize control of a natural wormhole that would grant us direct access to Druthean stars. The hive-mind was no match for our peace planet and swiftly fell. We made no effort to annex their territories and planets for the threat they posed was nil when compared to that of the Drutheans. Once in Druthean territories our fleets executed precise raids upon isolated enemy fleets, guided by the intel of our stellar Sentry Array. Bit by bit we were chipping away at their forces and taking their lands at a slow but steady pace. Everything changed when the Mbyuan attacked.

Spoiler: Retribution
Image

Our fleets were deep in Druthean territories, we had no means to halt the impending assault. We scrambled the Centurion Fleet and set its course back to our lands, in the meanwhile we passively observed as the Mbyuan terrorised our frontier star-systems.

Spoiler: Mbyuan Assault
Image
Image

The Mbyuan had to be stopped. We had to force their hand into surrender. We had no choice.

Spoiler: Oops
Image
Image
Image

The Dyson Beam was charged... the rift generator set to open a wormhole next to the Mbyuan capital world. Beacon of Eternity was home to over a 200 billion Mbyuan, many of which had nothing to do with the war waged by their authorities. It was however also their centre of command and industrial hub. Neutralisation of the entire planet would force their hand undoubtedly, with a sacrifice of life at a scale never before known to the galaxy... It was too late to stop now...

Spoiler: I Saw the Sky Catch Fire
Image
Image

Our generals watched the utter annihilation upon screen within our Strategy Command Centre. None spoke a word, some shook their heads or wept, unable to comprehend what was unfolding before their eyes... In the hours that followed the galaxy seemed to pause. Diplomatic communications with all other nations went silent, a silent condemnation and horror. Something terrible had been unleashed, committed, something that could never be undone. It was too late. The Mbyuan reacted in fury... and as such we erased two more of their home worlds from existence, reducing them to molten lifeless spheres.

Spoiler: The End of Decency
Image
Image

They surrendered, we ended our slaughter. The loss of half a trillion lives was too much even for the gods of our time. The Dyson Beam was switched off, and we finalised our push upon the Druthean Enforcers. They lost the support of all their subjects, who simply acknowledged us in disgust and fear. Our armies seized their planets one by one. They fell.

Spoiler: Unworthy Victor
Image
Image

The fall of the Druthean marked the end of the War in Heaven. The lands they had annexed or subjugated were freed, leading to the formation of many new nations. The galactic map had been redrawn. Three of the nations that declared independence became protectorates under the Compact of the Snuggly Duck. They were the Half-Half-Scummer Mutatis Polity, the Confederacy of Adrar, and the Democratic Half-Raitoburinga Administration. Mafia Universe was but a husk of its former self controlling only two stars, and the Nameless too had taken heavy losses to the Dread as well as the Mbyuan Arbitrators who retained control of their subjugates. The lands of the Correct Path and the Urist Commerce League had become a patchwork mess.

Stellaris updated and now the save keeps crashing when opened... which really sucks. I'm trying to rollback the version and see if it's alright, just hoping it wasn't corrupted by some means basically.
