well there is this battle tree, but the battle resort has these trainers with level 60 'mon, now you have to grind at the e4

yes, and it's only because if you don't want to trade a lunala for that shiny magikarp, you don't want to trade a buzzwole either, and they couldn't be bothered to write out "exclude legendary pokemon, mythical pokemon and ultra beasts"

I mean you practically stumble over nihilego in their own dimension
