So I think I have a breaking strategy for this game. Hear me out.

Firebringer is in his 20's AFAIK, and the average human male lives to be approximately 88 the last time I checked. So if we simply no lynch/no kill ~70 times FB should die of old age and we can all get out of here alive. Who's in?

ARM YOURSELF! If anyone targets you on the night you arm yourself, they will die. You may not arm yourself on two consecutive nights.

Scout the enemy: You may choose a single player and visit them. You may choose to visit any player to determine how dangerous they are to you. You may not visit the same player on two consecutive nights, but you may choose to visit two different players on consecutive nights.

Also, the disconnect isn't subjective/objective, it's the definition of miss. You are assuming miss == incorrect, I on the other hand am not. Accuracy and precision are not necessarily the same thing, as any scientist who I got drunk enough to do what I told them will tell you.

Okay, say I take a rifle out to a shooting range, and for some reason the shooting range has explosive barrels behind the targets. If I intend to shoot the barrels and hit the barrels, I haven't missed. I should have been shooting for the targets, but I wasn't, I was shooting for the barrels. If I had shot the targets that would have been a miss.

I agree that Ank was wrong in whichever game you're talking about, but wrong isn't necessarily missing. If I answer B on a multiple choice question who had the answer of C, I was wrong. If I intended to answer C but filled in the wrong bubble because I thought I was answering the previous or next question, I missed.

Proof either way is nigh impossible, but then again absolute proof itself is impossible, so that has little to do with the definition.

The prewritten adventures by WotC/3rd parties.

For example, Curse of Strahd in 5th ed is an adventure path for 3-15 level characters.

I'm assuming not, because I think you said something about a homebrew, but considering I've played, run or heard about most of the popular ones, it's important to ask.

Nah, you should run it. Either you'll find out that you like doing so, or you'll decide you don't. Either way it's a valuable experience. :)

If you're new to running RPG's, I'd suggest, 5th ed, no unearthed arcana.

I mean... We could probably do Tomb of Horrors. It's very nonstandard for modern RPGs though.

On the other hand, it has the added benefit of being lethal enough to allow for an extremely large party, so if we had more people than would fit in an average game, that'd work.

Actually, thinking about it there's no reason we can't have multiple games going on simultaneously, so long as we distinguish them. And the mess of a thread that would make would certainly fit with the whole masochist vibe we've got going. I'll see if I can't find my tomb of horrors stuff later today. Dumpster fire: Initiate.

So, I'm a 50 year old dwarf who is so aggressive a pacifist that I will literally tear myself limb from limb should I manage to kill anything, despite the fact that I'm incredibly weak. My farts are literally poisonous, which does not help with the whole "Can't Kill Anything" goal, and my best skills are boxing and shooting things with handguns. I'm both agile and tough to kill, which would be great except for the whole suicide if stepping on an ant aspect of my character. But at least I'm alive.

Stingy:You are so pathetic at haggling you make natural inability look good. You will haggle unreasonably regardless if you know an item's worth. It will take a difficult streetwise roll to even find someone who will not throw you out of the store after a minute of haggling. If you find such a person, they may make an average reason roll to determine your ineptitude, after which they gain 2D6 to their haggle skill against you.
Discount: Any radiations on your list with a cost of skill points have their cost reduced by half.
Dumbfounded: -2D6 to Reason.
Life from death: You may choose to resurrect yourself 24 hours after you die. If you choose to resurrect yourself, subtract two points from your resiliency, strength, and moves. Subtract 2D6 from every skill above 4D6.
Pride: your prideful arrogance will be your end. You think you are better than everyone else, so you go around taunting people with your existence. Anyone near you will be incited into a fit of rage and will want to kill you. Your attacker will have automatic initiative, and an additional two moves, resiliency amd streanth while in combat with you. Range: everyone within hearing range.
Angelic: You must assist and defend the helpless and put their life before yours. You have the ability to heal others for D6 hitpoints at a cost of eight skill points and yourself at a cost of 10 skill points per use. You can transfer all of the damage from soneone's body to your own at the cost of two skill points per use. You also have natural modifiers of +1 to resiliency and -1 to strength. With your powers comes responsibility. You cannot intentionally kill unless you see The Damned, and then you must kill that person on sight.


So, Kay is technically alive, although anyone he meets immediately wants to kill him and he's not allowed to kill anyone else. He can keep coming back to life after his party murders him in a fit of rage though.

This first post gives you a random number for moves (how fast you act), Resiliency (how hard you are to kill, and Age. Any result between 16 and 60 gives you that age in years. Any other result means you have to do what that result says on the age chart. Generally, manipulate yourself in some way and then roll again.

Any skills you roll a 12 for you're naturally good at. You get to reroll any ones you roll while using that skill. Any you get a twelve for you suck, and you have to reroll any sixes.

EBWOP: Any you roll a 2 for you suck.

So, Lord Anais has 6 moves, 6 resiliency and a 4 for age. Consulting the original chart, a four means I get to choose any age between 16 and 60. Considering so far I've had only old characters, I'm gonna go with a younger one this time. Generally, the older you are the worse the effects on your stats, but the more random mutations (Named Radiation Manipulations or RADMANS for short) you get to roll. Since those can be anything from poison farts to outright death (including turning a male character into a female) it's kind of a crapshoot to go for more of them.

Checking my chosen age, 26, on the chart, I find that I have no minuses to my skills. I get a relatively low number of skill points to deal with (380 + 10xD6), but honestly that's probably more of an advantage than a drawback.

A quick check through my skills reveals I'm bad at Chemistry, Hork, Influence, Outright Lie, and Reason. On the other hand, I'm good at Drive Cart, Navigate, Search, and WS Blade. That means I'm probably not going to be a great face (most of my bad skills are social in nature) but I'm halfway decent at getting around and stabbing things.

Before I get to skills though, I need to see what I've got to deal with physically. This is the second set of area tags in the code, btw. You'll have to add in the number of radmans you get manually, because it's between 0 and 4D6 depending on how old your character is.

So, I'm 67 inches tall (5 foot 7) which isn't terrible. My weight roll (again, referencing a chart) means I weigh three times as much as my height in inches, so 201 pounds. Those two together, (another chart) means that I get +1 move and +1 resilience, meaning I'm at a total of 7 moves, 7 resilience and 0 strength.

I've got a choice for my bonus. I can spend 10 skill points to gain a RADMAN as many times as I want, I can get 2D6 x 10 extra skill points, or I can bump up one of my stats (Not strength). Given that so far I'm entirely average, I'm going to roll the dice again and spend 20 skill points to get another 3 radmans, bumping that up to 4 Radmans total.

I've got 380 skill points left to spend, and here's where it gets complicated. ( :lol: )

Okay, so we've got 100 skills on a linked google sheet that Kittymo provided. About 70 of those don't have prerequisites, and those all start at 2D6. The rest start at 0. When you meet the prerequisites, you unlock the skill at 2D6. Looking at what I'm good at, I probably want to be able to stab things. Luckily, that doesn't have a prerequisite, so I get to spend 10 points for 3D6, 20 for 4D6, 30 for 5D6 and 40 for 6D6, meaning I'm down 100 points already. I'm also good at Navigate and Drive Cart, which might be useful, and neither of those need prereqs either! So 4D6 for each, and I've spent 160 out of my 380. I could probably stand to be a little faster and stronger, so I'm going to up running and weight training. The great thing about these, is that when you up them you can also get bonuses to your stats. So I've spent 220 now, and I get a +1 to moves and a +1 to strength.

So 160 points left. I think I'm going to try to be a little stealthy, so that I might be able to steal some supplies. I'm definitely not going to be dumping enough points to be good at buying them. So stealth at 6D6 and Search at 4D6. I need a 4D6 in Senses to be able to get Search, which means I'm out of points.

I've also gotten the prereqs for WS Paired (Blade), Spot Trap, Hide, and Intuition, so I've got all of those at 2D6. If I manage to up my reason, I get some more new skills, too, so that's probably a good thing to raise if I manage to keep this character alive.

Now, finally, it's time for RADMANS.

I've only got the four, so I'm going to roll them here. Now, it's worth noting that these are rolled one at a time, because one radman can affect earlier radmans or later radmans. So if I run into one like that I'm going to ignore the rest of the radmans I roll and make more radman posts.

Checking with the PHB (there's a free copy you can find if you go through the rpg.net stuff kittymo linked originally, or someone who has it can interpret) that means I have:

Total Recall: I have a perfect Memory.
Balance: Fuck. You will cross mutate with the next player you come into contact with. Compare each of your skills to those of the other player one by one. Each of you average your skills with the other (round down). So if you have a 3D6 in Acrobatics and the other player has 5D6, each of you now have 4D6.
Dead Brain Cells: It costs 5 more points for me to advance skills.
Regrowth: Every time a radiation is removed from your list, roll on the radiation table.

Rite of Aggression: If you do not make any offensive or defensive actions during the first round of combat, you may double your moves for all remaining rounds of combat so long as you make an action each round.
Life Insurance: If you die from any cause, you may immediately par a premium of D6x10 skill points to negate the cause of death (if by damage, the last single blow or amount of damage; if by radiation, remove it from your list and negate its effects). I wouldn't say she's bad. After the leg heals up, she's actually pretty scary in combat. 15 moves and a D6 boxing and D5 AP, after all. And she's not half bad with handguns either.

It kinda does. Specific actions have a cost in moves. Boxing makes jab, (which does 1+Str damage) cost one move.

So you can roll Boxing to hit 30 times if you have 30 moves, doing between 0 and 30 damage.

yeah, but with AP that's not as big an issue. Besides, if she gets her hand on a decent handgun she can do some serious damage.

She's not broken by any means, but compared to the other first choices she's pretty viable.

Insight: Gain natural abilities to D6 random skills.

Bonus round: every time you raise any skill to 4D6 or higher, roll on the radiation table.
Normal: Any affect this table has had on you is now reversed. Remove all radiation manipulations from your list as well as normal.

If anyone is interested, here's the rub.

5th ed characters, 10th level. 1500g starting money. No unearthed arcana. You may use anything from the PHB, Sword Coast, or Xanathar's Guide.

I'll start on (expired on 2019-04-01 12:00:00) if we have at least 5 characters or as soon as we have 12 characters, whichever comes first. I have no issue with people playing multiple characters.

You should play reverse chess, where the goal is to get checkmated or make sure you can't move and everyone loses in the case of a threefold repetition draw.
