It's sports terms, but okay

Also I said a long while ago that I found something unfair about the way the game is played, I reckon I'll just go with saying it now.
Why does the defending 'champion' get to start each game instead of the contender?
I mean, starting a game of tic tac dough DOES give you an advantage... and since the defending champion is better than the new contender more often than not, I think it would be more fair to let the challenging player start the game.
IMO that's partly why pablito and xofelf had some good streaks. And seeing as how the number of waiting players is in double digits, it would be more fun if each of them had a bigger chance to win a game ('bigger' meaning 'less unfair')...

Anyways, good luck lads.
Xalxe,
can you please make a comment on this? I think we all should know what YOU think about this, not me.
You are not incorrect that the first player will always have an advantage, it is tic tac toe after all. But I disagree that xofelf and pabs had such long runs because they went first. pablito beat xofelf as a challenger despite not making the obvious move at every turn (which he specializes in), and there hasn't been a game yet where nobody missed a question. pablito and xofelf won a bunch of games because they're good at the game, or at least better than their opponents were.

Also, to your point: it's a game show, and when it was designed, it wasn't meant to be fair. I imagine they decided it was better for ratings if they had a champion making a deep run. Some of Jeopardy's highest ratings came when Ken Jennings was on his streak
[citation needed]
; people started talking about it and tuning in.

Behind square 4, we have...

Another $400! That's a winner, congratulations! You're headed to New Orleans!

Before we close out our show here, let's play one final game. We've selected one random member of our studio audience. Come on down,
Flicker
!

You've been selected for a game we haven't played in a bit called Find the Dragon. On Vash's bonus board, there are four spaces that he didn't open. One of them contains the Dragon. You get one shot. If you find the Dragon, we'll send you home with $200 and this bonus "I Found the Dragon" hat!

So, choose carefully, what'll it be?

Oh, wow, this is so exciting. I didn't think I'd get to play for months!

Obviously, the odds are the same for each number. But then, since the board is divided into 7 and {2,3,6}, it seems more likely to be in the group, so... I'll guess the Dragon's hiding in the corner.

Is the Dragon behind square 3?

Image

Oh no, it's big money! Wait, hang on...

Alas, she was behind #7. Better luck next time, and we'll see you soon to play again!

Thanks everyone for tuning in, until next time, I've been Xalxe, don't forget to donate to your local branch of the DSA, and we'll see you...next time!

From a frustratingly snowy Internet Television Studio in northeast Ohio, it's everybody's game of strategy, knowledge & fun. It's
Tic
Tac
Dough
! And now, here's your host, the human embodiment of just missing on an attack roll,
Xalxe
!

Hello hello hello! Thank you, thank you all! Wonderful to see you all--hello, wow! Thank you!

Lovely to be back, thank you all for your patience. We've renovated, do you like it? Yes, your seats have cupholders now! It's great!

With us today we have two wonderful contestants. I'd say let's meet them, but they're both familiar faces!

First up, our returning champion, on a two-game winning streak and fresh off a bonus game win, it's
VashtaNeurotic
!

And our challenger, our first-ever returning player, the international man of mystery, it's
puzzledan
!

Let's have a look at your board, shall we?

Image

Lovely. What a gal. She's really something.

As always, we have two red categories up there. First, our
Secret Category
. It could be about anything! If you get that question right, you'll double the current pot, so that's very exciting.
Comedians
is also red, that's a Double or Nothing. If you get that question right, you can choose to go for a second square anywhere on the board. If you get that question right, you get both squares, but if you get it wrong, you lose control of the Comedians square.

As always, our outer squares are worth $500 each, and the center square is a two-part question worth $1000.
Vash
, as our champion, you're up first.

You got it!

Empires

The German Empire existed from 1871 to 1917, and was made up in part of four kingdoms – Württemberg, Saxony, Bavaria, and what fourth, large kingdom?
