Because it's RvS and I think especially newer players tend to gravitate towards not voting at all/selfvoting to avoid being on an early wagon.
Perhaps something like not wanting to be caught in a set group? Dunno.
I somehow missed your selfvote-post, but I also don't really think you'd be "afraid" to vote where ever, so I don't think the two self-votes are necessarily alike.
