Maybe cycle like the light cycles from Tron?

Maybe cast? Like cast a light on something? Or it it only shadows you can cast?

I think torch and cycle are best.

Torch is too obvious to not be one of the two words indeed.

Cycle sounds unlikely, since references are a very high-risk low-reward play. I'm thinking Cast too for this one, with Bolt being the only semi-likely alternative imo.

Thinking about it from a spymaster's perspective, Torch + Novel wouldn't make Light stand out enough clue to be used on the first turn. I'm still in favor of Cast as our second guess.
