Wtf’s up with all the hydra hate? Cleary, quite a few players really want to be in one. So, now we have to have a minimum of 5, since 3 vetos?

I don’t because i prefer discussing my reads with someone. And this is especially helpful to me, whenever there’s more complex mechanics are involved.I have a partner who just can’t be too active rn.

Because, 5 + 2 =7, which is the maximum # of hydras allowed and he put that to 6 + 2 = 8, so no hydras will be allowed in that case, no matter what.

unless people /out or multiple people find hydras now, we wont have enough hydras to meet the minimum requirement

even then, 7 hydras is 14 people in hydra and 10 solo, so theres a greater emphasis on hydras than there are indiviudal players

I would argue its against the spirit of the game unless its for teaching purposes (ie a newbie hydraing with an experienced player to advise), but regardless its allowed.

That said I still think hydras are a dumb concept.

There's been 6 votes of players vetoing and about 4 other people stating they're alright/happy without hydras - all have which /inned, and have exercised their rightful desire to veto hydras.

If the majority's thoughts are a concern for you, then take it up in PM to the mod about the hydra policy and refrain from dissenting with other people for giving their opinion when they were permitted to do so.

So let me tell you the reasoning behind this hydra system:

I wanted people to vote on whether they like hydras or not, so I made it such that people can either vote for hydras, against hydras, or be ambivalent. However, I made it such that the only way to vote for hydras is to be a hydra.

It looks like it's failing, though, because a few votes encourage others to quickly vote up the threshold as high as possible because it forces many hydras into the game, which more people are opposed to.

The vetoes exceeded the limit by one, so not possible.

Nancy, I definitely agree that hydras can be good tools for learning. That said, I genuinely believe that they should be kept to smaller games. There are a lot of people

and mechanics to track

in a large theme. There is no need to add another.

To paraphrase Mathdino "Town is given a lot of information throughout the game. There job is to find what it is relevant and analyse it to achieve their wincon" (Mathdino in his thread on improving towns). Adding more things to keep track of is silly.

And yeah Elsa, I just came back to mafia after a long break and am already addicted. Expect me to have an opinion on anything and everything. Near the end of my first run, things got bad, but peak hyperIDGAF!momo is back.

I am pretty much always honest about mechanics as all alignments, so if you have any questions regardless of what I roll feel free to ask. I'm sure lots of players will be helpful too. I don't think this game will be too complicated anyways.

I can see where it might make it more "fun" but I think its technically cheating. It also has the potential of giving one said an unfair advantage b/c "more heads".

Meh, you could say the exact same thing about experience. Are more experienced players cheqting? Obviously not. I personally have never had any issues with hydras in any game, whether I was in one or not. Unless, you only have games based on skill/experience level, you will never have a level playing field.
