My first introduction was in my friend's dorm, my freshman year of college. There was a werewolf game being played with 20+ people one weekend. I think it was a somewhat regular occurence, but we only went the one time.

Ever since I've tried many more social games, board games and the like.

What board games do you play?
I recently (last year) got a game called Scythe, loads of fun.

Personally I will try everything, but my friend group is not that flexible, and I don't have the personality to really be the guy pushing them and bringing them new games. Another friend does that, (with mixed results).

Anyway the resistance, and secret hitler were probably the biggest hits. We've played splendor and spice road(not sure if that's the name). Deception murder in hong kong is popular with the group. Recently we tried formula D, it has potential.

I personally enjoyed isle of skye and port royal but they never gained much popularity in the group.

The jackbox games aren't board games but very fun in social gatherings.
Oh and now that ticket to ride has a decent digital interface/app we sometimes play it because it makes it so much better than the physical game.
Also spyfall. We've played it several times on mish mash here.

I've never played a large portion of the games you've just mentioned, although I've played Ticket to Ride on multiple occasions before, with varying success.

I do want to try most of those games, it does help that I have the sort of personality that will push people I barely know to come try different board games with me just because I think I lack enough close friends to really risk anything by trying.

Scythe is massive. It's fascinating, exciting, and my favorite board game at the moment. I played it around 18 times in the first four weeks of getting it, although I had a relatively large player pool to draw from and weekends with little else to do. It's relatively complicated at first, but once you get the hang of it, the core is really quite simple, in my opinion.

I have over time acquired every expansion. I haven't been able to play through the campaign yet as the group of people I can draw from has significantly decreased in size, but hopefully soon I will be able to play again.

I beat the highest level of automa with, I think it was crimea. I only have the base game.

It's worth doing once. Quite different to playing with people. After you beat it there's not a lot of reason to do it again, though.
