You can

Spend one hold to ask the Keeper one of the following questions, and gain +1 ongoing while acting on the answers:

-Where is the creature right now?
-What is it planning to do right now?
-Who is it going to attack next?
-Who does it regard as the biggest threat?
-How can I attract its attention?

The Sight:

You can see the invisible, especially spirits and magical influences. You may communicate with (maybe even make deals with) the spirits you see, and they give you more opportunities to spot clues when you investigate a mystery.

Telepathy:

You can read people’s thoughts and put words in their mind. This can allow you to

investigate a mystery or read a bad situation

without needing to actually talk. You can also

manipulate someone

without speaking. You still roll moves as normal, except people will not expect the weirdness of your mental communication.

The Dark Side

The keeper can ask you to do nasty things in accordance with these tags, whenever your powers need you to. If you do what is asked, mark experience. If you don’t do it, then your powers are unavailable until the end of the mystery (or until you cave). As you mark off Luck, these requests will get bigger and nastier.

I've been working with the feds to help bring him in. We've got him placated at the moment, and this letter is engineered to lull him into a false sense of security. I really, really need you to help me out here. Not just for my sake... Lives are in danger.

sorry guys, am kinda on vacation and forgot this was a thing for a few days; i'll be better

Gabbie stiffens. On some basic, fundamental level, she doesn't want to talk about all the weird things that have been happening to and around her. It would almost be an admission, a confession that forces beyond her ken and control have chosen to grant her power, but have also inextricably tied her to the uncanny and unnatural. Almost as if by acknowledging the occult she'll subsume herself within it.

She's scared. She doesn't understand the metaphysical capabilities she's manifesting, isn't sure whether she'd prefer to acknowledge her new ability to perform supernatural feats or to pretend to herself that she can't. She had decided to show the ghost to Corey - if someone else could see it too it would at least validate her experiences and confirm that she isn't subject to some merciless and unrelenting delusion.

But he wasn't able to see it.

Her voice is tremulous, shaky.

"I think you're hiding something from me!"

she accuses Corey. It's almost easier to believe that the ghost was some sort of cruel prank he'd pulled on her than to believe it was

, than to be forced to accept that the supernatural exists and that she is of it.

Upon hearing Corey's denial, Gabbie deflates, her anger dissipating like air from a popped balloon.

'No, you haven't been,' she agrees. 'I'm sorry.'

The words are almost hard to get out, but she forces herself to continue.

'I'm scared. I don't know what's happening to me. I don't know what's happening to this town. But something weird is happening here. Something unnatural. Something scary. Something

dangerous

She takes a deep breath.

'Me and Diego think a werewolf killed his mom. We saw pawprint-type-thing where his mom was found, and it totally doesn't look like it belongs to any sort of animal

ever seen around here.'

'And his mom's ghost - cuz apparently I talk to ghosts now! That's a thing that's happening.' Her voice gets higher pitched as she says the last two sentences. 'His mom's ghost thinks that there's some sort of snake-creature-thing on top of the theater and thinks we should check it out.'

'And like I don't even know if I believe that I spoke with her. Or if we decide to trust her what we should do next. Like I don't think we can tell anyone about this - who's going to believe wild stories about werewolves and ghosts? So I feel like it's up to us to handle this. But like, how are we going to hunt down a werewolf or take down a weird snake thing?'

'Yeah, that's what she said,' Gabbie says. 'Snake creature thing. It left a bunch of scales on the roof of the theatre. Maybe we should go over there and check them out? And see if we can find anyone who might know anything about the director's disappearance. That might be connected to all the other weied shit that's been going on.'

'Diego's mom also told me that Figgy, the bartender here, has some info that might help us. Let's go inside and talk to her,' Gabbie suggests.

"We should also check the theater, where the person vanished from for clues, right?"

'We can do that later, sure,' Gabbie says, 'but since we're at the bar I think we should talk to Figgy - Diego's mom says she has some information too. Let's go talk to her before we leave.'

Everyone walks inside. Gabbie heads to the counter and says to the bartender, 'Hey, are you Figgy? I heard that you might know something about the weird stuff that's been happening at the theater.'
