It's certainly a product of its time, and most of the female actors feel like they were cast solely because they were hot. I'm sure the "women drivers" joke played great in 1977. But I'm glad I watched it, I was never bored!

One thing I really like about this movie is that while a lot of Bond films have the female lead range from incompetent to active hindrance, TSWLM goes out of its way to let us know that Major Amasova is a competent spy on Bond's level.

I literally laughed at the exchange:
Bond: The lady will have a... Bacardi on the rocks.
Major Amasova: For the gentleman, vodka martini - shaken, not stirred.
James Bond: Touché.

Why are the goombas lizard people?? .

Um because the Mushroom Kingdom takes place in a world where convergent evolution turned the dinosaurs into human/human-like creatures and then Bowser used the de-evolution to revert Toad and the other Goombas to that earlier more reptilian stage it's like you didn't even pay attention at ALL

The ending of the older one is pretty good! The actual heist pissed me off, though.

During the planning they say "At midnight everyone will be singing Auld Lang Syne. The song lasts for one minute and 42 seconds; we timed it. So that's all the time we have to do Heist Things." But then during the heist they show all the different casinos and each casino is singing at a different tempo! I hope somebody got fired for that blunder.
