Well, yeah, but you could easily bet on the success/failure of individual goals/results of radmans I get, etc.

Say everyone starts with 10 coins and can bet however many they choose on whatever outcome they choose, but those bets are tied to a character and those coins are useless until the bet is for sure a yes or no, so voting for guaranteed things like “He dies”. Ties up your coins until I actually die while others can continue to bet in the meantime.

The real question is what the prize should be. I’d be happy to offer the running of one game of the winners choice, if that sounds spicy enough.

Alright, so 300 miles, say approximately 10 miles a day considering that I'm going over unknown terrain and tracking simultaneously, as well as the need to bring the cart with. Potentially gives a travel time of a full month, so we're gonna buy some more rations.

Avedane is going to look for, in order:

Water Purification Tablets x2
Water x15
Rations x21
Flint and Steel (or similar method of making fire)

Anais, on the other hand is going to see if he can look at (not purchase) as complete a map of the surrounding area as he can.

After that, both Anais and Avedane are going to go to the western exit of town in order to get going as quickly as possible. Note, they had told Hagi they would leave in the morning, this discrepancy is intentional.

With the amount of shade Ram is throwing my way, I'm not sure I'll see the sun for months. OK is still refusing to interact with the thread, but that's a stated stance until December, so it's less troubling overall. Nancy is acting weird, and I can understand a scumread there now, but Relly should really talk more about how there's no way to read anything but entrances before 1073 and why he didn't look for AI things outside of entrances when I said they exist. He should also talk about why he scumread Nancy in 1057 (entrance was scummy is the emptiest read I've ever heard). Also he should talk about why I'm unlikely to try to read into the motivation behind Ramcius's behavior.

You proposed a potential reason for Nancy being scummy being an attempt to pocket me. I said that there are other potential reasons that make more sense to me.

I offered to discuss one of my townreads, of your choice. Your choice was "All of them." I don't see a reason to discuss "All of them" as there's absolutely no pressure on any of them. :shrug: If I'm making them up, pick the one you think is least likely to actually be a real read, and I can elaborate. I'm not interested in towncasing people who aren't under pressure.

I feel like in a game like this, where it'd be extremely easy for scum to lurk out of the game, if scum were trying to play seriously, they would care about what they're posting. If scum were to be active and trying to direct the game, they'd be very mindful of what they're saying. They wouldn't wanna appear to have some ulterior motive in the game. So, I don't really see your point in bringing that up unless you're trying to just shade Irrel.

First, I'm going to assume you're saying I'm trying to shade Ram, because shading irrel makes no sense contextually, considering I was responding to Ram about Ram. Second, I don't think Ram is trying to direct the game, I think Ram is trying to be seen as active and open in an attempt to look town. Looking town is the ulterior motive here. I looked at the alternative motivations I can think of and ruled them out as unlikely. Therefore, I think that that motivation is the likeliest one. And there is a clear scum motivation to wanting to APPEAR to be open and active.

Sure. Scum wants to post things that seem like they're right/open/genuine. Town wants to post things that ARE right/open/genuine. I think Ramcius's actions are more about the appearance of joking than the substance of joking. The major distinction between what town does and what scum does is that scum is all about appearances.

Ik it wasn't directed at me, but, I personally feel Nancy's entrance was bad just because it was very like, "Oh, I'll catch up eventually" and that's all there was to it. IIRC, at the point of Nancy's entrance, a few people were starting to try to play the game seriously, so it makes the post feel out of place.

Sure. Player A does activity A. Player B does activity A. Player C does activity A. None of these are remarkably distinct, nor are any of them hiding that they're doing activity A. Player D comes in to the thread and says A and B are scummy for doing A! Player D completely leaves out Player C. This suggests Player D doesn't think activity A is actually scummy, but rather that they're looking for a reason to call A and B scummy. This is a scumtrait.

Note, Ram apparently didn't think Nancy's entry itself was scummy. Since then he has clarified that he thinks what is actually scummy is that Nancy didn't then do *things* like she would in a normal game. This, notably, is something that he talks about in 1255, on May 4th. Ramcius believes I should have a Nancy read in 1156, on April 27th.

The progression here is Ramcius makes a joke scumread on a player, and Relly agrees with it. Ram immediately takes back his scumread as something utterly ridiculous, which in itself reads like distancing. Ramcius thinks I should have a read, implying he has a read, BEFORE Nancy posts again, on the 1st of May. Let's ignore, for a minute, how applying the "they're posting elsewhere tell" is hilarious in this game, this is 100% an activity tell. This is an activity tell that its supposedly scummy I didn't apply to someone in this game. OTOH, Relly, who is a similarly active-as-town player, has not responded to the question of why Nancy had a scummy entrance, but activity tells don't apply to Relly (and haven't, for the entirety of the game because they're fucking

in a year long deadline game). So, Nancy is scum because she doesn't post for 4 days after replacing in. Relly is ignored completely when there's active questions to him in the same timeframe. And Despite Nancy being scum, Ram wants to lynch me with her help because I'm more scum.

It seems to me like Ram threw out a random scumread, pseudoretracted, realized other people agreed with it, and doubled down on it. But he still doesn't want to lynch that scumread. He wants to lynch someone else first.

This is funny because Ramcius uses proper grammar, but in a way that vastly changes the intended meaning of his post. In this case, guys is an appositive, meaning that he is directly addressing a specific group of 'You'. Given the contextual clue that You is not 'everyone in the thread', guys likely also isn't 'everyone in the thread' as is the colloquial usage, but rather 'male members of the thread', the more literal interpretation. This means Ramcius is specifically excluding people like Nancy and Ank from his compliment.

Additionally, there's a bit of humor in the misuse of speechless, as this forum doesn't require speech to communicate. Rather we use text, which as most of you are aware can be achieved without even the rudimentary vocal abilities of many animals, let alone the complex vocal abilities required to put together complex thoughts. Even disregarding this, and taking speechless in a more informal "I don't have words to express my thoughts" sense, Ramcius is very clearly misrepresenting reality. And everyone knows that saying something that is clearly untrue is a basic tenet of humor.
