I don't remember if I ever made a thread about this or not, but GST is pretty awesome. And it's important to me. And I've managed to instill it in the minds of a few ScumChatters, but I found out today that depressingly few of them uphold the tradition.

Anyway, GST was a tradition started by a handful of St. Louis University High cross-country (SLUH XC) guys back in 2001. For nearly seven years, they've been wearing Green Shirt Thursdays mostly for its own sake. When these students graduated from high school, they took the tradition with them to college, and at UD one such student got.... nearly a hundred of us, I'd say... involved in GST. We even had shirts made and everything. And to this day most of us still uphold the tradition. We spread it around, too... I got everybody at my old coffee shop to wear Green Shirts on Thursdays, and I would tell customers about it when they saw my GST shirt and asked.

Like Shea said, "shirt" covers just about everything that covers your torso/chest/ect.

I have two green dress shirts for work, a few green t-shirts, a green pullover, a green sweater, and a few more, in different styles.

Quick update: My friend brought the remaining Green Shirts this past weekend. Apparently out of the 72 we had printed, there are only THREE (one Large, two X-Large) left... so I will definitely have to get more printed.

I can definitely give away shirts to the few to whom I had promised (aka, Shea, Ether, and I'm sure there were one or two more people I can't think of right now), but I may have to charge a small fee (like $8) for the others. Also, since the original batch got printed some 3.5 years ago in Missouri, I don't know if I'll be able to find a place that can replicate them exactly... I may end up having to modify the design somewhat.

I'll try to get this figured out in the next month or so, but work is going to have me bogged down for some time. I'll keep people updated. In the meantime, people can post here (and/or I can probably edit in a poll) if there's interest in getting GST shirts.

Once I get an idea of demand, I will look into getting them printed. Once I know cost, I'll figure out how much to charge. Then once I have shirts, people can send me size/address, I can send shirts, and they can send the cash-moneys.

The price to purchase an individual shirt is usually relatively outlandish. Buying a bulk batch and redistributing them is better for everyone else because
A) They get theirs cheaper, since I'd sell at less than the price for which I bought in bulk; and
B) I don't mind eating the extra expenses, because I really think the whole concept is fun and I want to spread the idea of wearing green shirts on Thursdays just because.

I could also make the argument that
C) Regardless of costs, people would be less inclined to take incentive and buy on their own, for a variety of reasons. Having somebody else organize and distribute -- especially when it's a fellow community member -- provides a stronger sense of closeness and camaraderie, which is essentially the point of getting people across the world to participate in GST.

Dayton may have lost, but just about EVERY bubble team lost, too. Sometimes Green Shirts work in mysterious ways.
