I was trying to avoid giving info away to scum but at this point town needs that info and scum really don't care about it that much.

Refusing to claim when the figurative noose is around your neck is extremely towny. So if he had come in and, under intense pressure, still refused to claim anything, I would have wanted people to back off of him.
