Edit: You'll restore your MP next battle though.

Not saying that we have that skill NOW, but logically that’s the next step.
Also, Inferno and I have been discussing and we think we can kill this guy in two rounds, Lords of Luck willing. But to be sure: on a double strike, do we have a -1 bonus on both attacks?

That certainly would be interesting. THe penalty is actually -2 and yes, you would have -2 and -4 on a double strike.

EWBOP: a -1 penalty. So like do we attack for -1 and then attack for -3
Also, I lied. Optimal strategy here is:
Two level 4 players open. We’ll call them A and B for simplicity’s sake.
A blesses me, B Fires the cultist. Cultist attacks
B blesses Inferno, A curses cultist. Cultist attacks.
Switch to Inferno and me, who both double strike the cultist. Now here’s the technical part:

On average, a d4 gets a 2.5 result. A blessed double strike by a lv 5 is a 4d4-2 or on average, 8 damage. So as long as we both roll average, he dies or goes to 1, and we broil him for the kill. I think the chances of success here are 58.6%, which are ludicrously high.

That being said, I withdraw my submission.

A blesses you, yes. But B shouldn't fire the cultist. They should cast the spell Examine Creature because this looks WAY too easy. It would also clearly tell us if, for example(which is entirely possible, and actually likely) the cultist is immune against Curse, if they have some secret powers... you know what I mean? Better safe then sorry.
I won't be A or B due to my low health.

I've got 2 MP to spend and a decent enough HP reserve.

Turn 1, my partner double attacks to take out defence and I tornado.
Turn 2, bless the next fighters and GTFO

I'd prefer if you would stick with my plan of casting examine creature(you) and Bless(someone else) first. With that low HP on that boss I
strongly
suspect some kind of trap; I suspect a possible stun/curse resistance... the spell Examine Creature should definitely be cast on that person.
The LAST thing we need is some nasty spell damage reflection effect, a fire/tornado spell immunity, a high strength counterattack on magic/standard attacks we run into or another kind of problem we suddenly face without preparation(such as nasty inventory items(for that we need the spell Examine Creature, NOT scry)).

As a reminder, spells require a separate defense roll for each one. A double slash would not help your odds of the Tornado hitting.

Casting bless on turn one just reduces the number of effective turns, it would be better to go Examine+Curse and then 2xBless.

Also this guy isn't a magician but a ranger, so I'd expect abilities to be more likely in the form of extra damage than immunities, though it's also a cultist so maybe?

I agree that someone should cast Examine first round. I sense something fishy here...

I volunteer to be that person. I'm at full health/mp and with the mp cost reduction still in effect Examine is free anyway.

The first two people are only playing for 2 rounds, so no high MP necessary, that's why I suggested going first, I have decent HP and can use my leftover MP, then switch out for someone with full HP/MP.

Examine doesn't cost mana at the moment and turn 2 he can always double slash for some decent damage if there's no counter or use fire.
