General:

-Remember that this is a game - Heated discussion is allowed, but personal attacks are not.

-Do not quote any out of game communication regarding this game - This includes your role PM and any other PMs I may send you. You may paraphrase, but use caution. When in doubt, run it by me first.

-Do not use encryption, hidden text or excessively small text in your posts.
-Each Day phase will last for 10 days, with Night phases lasting 48 hours. I will post specific deadlines at the start of every Day and Night phase.
-On any given Night, if all living players PM me to request a ‘Fast Night’, the next Day phase will begin sooner.
-Please refrain from making any comments about threatening to replace out, even if you don't actually intend on replacing out. A player who makes such a comment will receive 1 warning before being replaced at my discretion.
-Please do not post in the game thread or any private topics following your death, with the exception of the dead thread.
-If you have the ability to edit your posts, please do not do so.
-You may ask for a personal PT to use during the game.
-A player who voluntarily replaces out may replace back in IF I deem that such an action will not negatively affect the game. Any instance of this will be considered on a case by case basis, and will be allowed ONLY ONCE. A second voluntary replace out is PERMANENT regardless of the situation.
-My decisions are final. If I feel you are violating any of the rules, I will take the appropriate action.

Voting:

-All votes and unvotes must be in

or in VOTE: vote tags, with vote tags being preferable.
-Votes in spoilers or quotes will not be counted.
-I am using an automatic vote counter, so abbreviations are fine, but initials are not ideal. Eg. VOTE: Chibi is fine, but VOTE: CB may not register correctly.

-Unvotes are helpful, but not necessary.

Activity:

-You are expected to make at least one game-relevant post every 48 hours. Players who go 48 hours without making a game-relevant post will be prodded.
-If you are prodded, you have 24 hours to make at least one game-relevant post in-thread. If you do not respond within 24 hours, you will be replaced. Additionally, if you accumulate 3 prods, you will be replaced at my discretion.
-Prod dodging will result in you being replaced at my discretion.

Setup Mechanics:

This is a 9p Open Theme setup. In this game, a "Captain" will tell the various Power Roles in the game what to do during the night. Subsequently, you have the option to "

Obey

" or "

Disobey

" orders. If you obey, you will go through with the action. If you disobey, the action will not happen. Be warned though, the Captain will be notified when an order has been disobeyed! The captain only knows what the PRs are, not who they are.

Aside from "Power Roles", every player has a "Rank"

. They are:

1 Captain

You are an officer. You know what all the Power Roles are in the game. They are [X, X, and X]. During the day, you must PM me a list of what you wish these PRs to do. The following night, they will be presented with your order. If you wish them to no-action, simply do not give an order for that particular PR. Roles will also no-action if you do not submit a list of orders. (Example: Imagine there are 3 PRs: Bodyguard, Jailkeeper, and Rolecop. You could...Order Bodyguard to protect [player]. Order Rolecop to investigate [player]. Order Jailkeeper to Jailkeep me.) If you die, one of your officers, either the Commander or Lieutenant, will take your place as Captain. Additionally, you cannot have a PR. So if you are promoted and become the Captain you will lose any PRs.

1 Commander

You are an officer. You are 1st in line to become the next Captain. If the Captain dies, you will replace him.

1 Lieutenant

You are an officer. You are 2nd in line to become the next Captain. If the Commander and Captain are dead, you will become the next Captain.

6 Ensigns

You're just an ordinary ensign. You cannot assume command. Sucks to be you lol.

Structure:

The Mafia team is composed of 2 players who are randomly assigned to any rank and role in the game (They can be officers. If either of them are officers the secondary win condition does

not

apply). They have two win conditions A) outnumber the town/endgame them or B) kill the entire officer command structure (Captain, Commander, and Lieutenant). There are

random possible power roles in this game. However, only

3

(randomly decided) are actually in the game. The rest are Vanilla. Also, you know there cannot be multiple instances of one role. They are:
Jailkeeper
Voyeur
Follower
Rolecop
Bodyguard
Motivator
Doctor
Poisoner

Additional Role Notes;

1. Doctor can cure poisoned targets before they die.
2. Poisoned players are aware of it and die at the end of the next night after they've been poisoned.
3. Motivator cannot grant an extra NK, and the Captain directs second use in one go e.g (motivate vi + cause his second action to target crypto)
4. Rolecop only reveals PRs/Vanilla, not rank.
5. All results are given to the players, not the Captain.
6. During the pregame random role assignment, if the Captain is given a PR, there will only be 2 PRs in the game.
7. Only the Poisoner can target himself. If the Captain orders someone besides him to self-target, it will be as if he did not send in an action for that role.
8. Follower/Voyeur clarification: Jailkeeper=Protective/Voyeur=Informative/Follower=Informative/Rolecop=Informative/Bodyguard=Protective/Motivator=Supportive/Doctor=Protective/Poisoner=Killing. Also, the Follower cannot detect the factional kill.
9. When a player has been ordered to perform an action they will receive this message: "Your captain has ordered you to Bodyguard Faraday. Will you follow orders? Will you Obey or Disobey?" (not choosing will result in a 50/50 coinflip as to whether you'll obey or disobey) And remember, the Captain (and only the captain) will know if you've disobeyed orders. He will not know YOU the player disobeyed, only the role. In this instance, he'd know the Bodyguard disobeyed.
10. Scum PRs can Action + Use the factional NK.

Apologies for any confusion, the game rules were copied directly from the wiki page, I should have rephrased that part as it was rather ambiguous

To be 100% clear, any results from night actions are given to the PR who performed them as usual, they are not given to the highest ranking officer nor posted publicly.

After much consideration I have decided to amend the rules:

-A player who voluntarily replaces out may replace back in

I deem that such an action will not negatively affect the game. Any instance of this will be considered on a case by case basis, and will be allowed

ONLY ONCE.

A second voluntary replace out is

PERMANENT

regardless of the situation.

Liz of Liz and Jack replaced out due to an interpersonal conflict and not for any strategic reason, as such I have discussed this situation with her and have decided to allow her to return to the game. She will join the members of the existing Michael Scott hydra, which will be replaced with the hydra of Liz Jack and Kenneth.

This is a reminder to all players to please behave in a civil manner, Mafia is a game based on conflict, but there is no need to make purposefully inflammatory comments towards others.

I would also like to remind everyone of this rule:

Replacements, while sometimes necessary, also serve as an outside influence. As such, do not tell other players to replace out. Do not publicly threaten to replace out of a game. If you do need to replace out, do not publicly discuss your reasons or anything else, as you are no longer a player in the game. PM your game moderator if you are considering replacing out or have concerns and believe another player should be replaced out.

Following this incident I will be less lenient on any replace outs due to interpersonal conflict, so please do not attempt to replace out and then back in just because the rule exists, I may not be feeling so generous the next time.

Thank you for your understanding on this matter.

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking about a Jailkeeper's hypothetical effect on the a victim/perpetrator of the factional kill?

A big thank you to pisskop for helping me co-mod!

Regarding the Liz replacement situation, I made the decision to allow her back into the game for 3 reasons:
1. I believed that she was genuinely upset, and did not intend to use the replacement for a tactical reason. The rules around replacements are mostly in order to prevent players from using the replacement mechanic for tactical purposes.
2. She was part of a hydra were at least one head stayed consistent throughout the game.
3. She asked nicely, it's always worth it to be polite.

That being said I do think that I could have handled this situation much better, and in the future I will be adding a rule that will not allow any voluntary replace-outs to replace back in, regardless of the circumstances.

Apologies to anyone who felt that the game was negatively affected by the replacement situation, I stand by my decision but I will be more careful in the future.
