I'm primarily looking to avoid being a paranoia mislynch late in the game, which I suspect is a reasonable possibility if I start taking a lead role in the game throughout and the game hits a point where there's like... three pairings left. I would like to avoid that scenario.

I also have a tendency to get emotional or have my particular personality quirks either frustrate other people enough to compromise their ability to hunt properly or to shut myself down so that I become useless; I expect that this playerlist is one that this can happen in depending on how the game goes

if there's a high enough possibility of either of these scenarios happening, then it's far better for me to try to

build an endgame townblock to PoE out the game and leave to cement that my solve is town motivated

than to try to push each lynch myself and risk compromising the entire game over it

it's ultimately a decision of practicality over what is better for town in the lategame rather than the present; it's one of the reasons I'm very uneasy with the early townreads I've gotten, because becoming a consensus obvtown read has the downside of me practically being forced to be in that endgame pairing and risk the second scenario happening (unless I'm the designated sacrifice with Kagami for intermission, but I don't believe that's ever optimal unless I'm one of the biggest question mark slots in the game)

I guess my suspicion is that you actually believe this since it's a weird angle to take.

You have to be twice as good as randomly lynching for suicide to be an EV play, due to what Kagami pointed out. We design "balanced" setups at like 40% town EV or whatever so obviously people are not twice as good as random lynching. Correct play is basically never suicide unless the lover PT has the biggest scumslip you've ever seen in your career. So since it's a slot you are unable to lynch from your POV you want it to be town, because you definitely don't want to give lynch proof power roles to scum

And I'm concerned that you are at least halfway cognizant of this dynamic and are just that fearful of death-by-wallflower

everyone will have a pt with their partner and it's their responsibility to try to use that to divine their partner's alignment. i feel that will be valuable.

Ank - Scumreading her used to be cool but the appeal has just worn off on me. The number of times that she has talked about the dance pairings not going the way she wanted them to is striking to me, and I haven't even read all of her posts. I actually get the impression that she is legitimately upset that the town didn't just listen to her posts and ignore what they themselves wanted to do. Scum aren't going to naturally expect that town do what they say because.. well.. they're scum, but town often do and this is part of why Ank strikes me as town.

I was most recently scum in the abandoned game of Hope Plus One. I was also scum in some newbie game a long time ago where I was scum with Elvis Knits. I was SK in some large normal where Vi caught me. I was scum with StrangerCoug in an open multiball once, that one is easy to remember cause it had werewolves and coug has a furry avatar. I cam across some old game where I deadwon as scum with RedCoyote. And I won as last man standing scum in a iteration of Cyclic Mafia

I think that's all the times I've been scum. Probably I don't curate links to my past games

unfortunately my reasoning will be handwaved as "scum can magically persuade anyone they are town in a pt" and i'll admit that's true a lot of the time, but he's hitting the right notes for me in terms of the way he's approached me. there's been a pretty believable trajectory that hits some right emotional notes and some posts that would be pretty difficult to make as scum - not impossible, but i think it'd be tough to make them without overanalyzing the wording so much you ultimately post something robotic

this post might as well be blank in terms of being useful to anyone else, but it's good enough for me, at least for now

Well, does the revelation that Oka is scum do anything to modify your read on FB-Shiro? If there's nothing in the Oka-FB-Shiro triple ISO that moves you, then it's probably a sign that they are innocent. If there is something, then it's worth casing out.

i guess i'll read it, but i feel like it's going to be tough for them to have a lot of interaction when my primary complaint with shiro is that they seem to exist solely to defend themselves

The pairs mechanic leads to a lot of interactive play that ended with Oka-Gamma being the clearly correct lynch despite their own performance being less scummy than FB-Shiro's.
