I'm a terrible scum player so maybe don't listen to me but I think the first step to being better as scum is learning to sustain the same level of effort that you put in as town. I'm stuck at this stage at the moment.

Depends on the players. I do better without PRs.

I think these non-PR games are a lot more fun personally. It reduces to the basics of scumhunting & manipulating, and exposes skill differences much more dramatically. As a result, the games might look much more one-sided, either in town or scum's favor. I don't think that means the game is inherently imbalanced to one side.

Depends on the game & players for fun after D1. If the game is solved by D1, it gets boring for sure. Competitive games would be fun though.

I've had a couple D1 solves, but usually not solved until D2. RC seems to solve on D1 pretty regularly though.

But then there's games like Nomination Mafia that took until LYLO to solve. That was a fun nightless game imo.

I like long days and lots of time to solve.

I also get more energy as the game goes on, especially if there haven't been any scum flips.

I dunno, the geriatric games I've been in have had much more effort than non-geriatric games.
