In post 715, RedFlavor wrote:Hi Pine, how is your baby doing?
Pinecone is wonderful! At nearly thirteen months, she's turned into a tiny little person with a spitfire personality. She started walking in mid-April (first independent steps on my birthday, actually,) and we've got our hands full. Babyproofing a house with as many stairs as ours has been difficult, but I ended up just making what I call "safe zones," places where I've thoroughly proofed everything, then gated the exits. She has her own 6x10 preserve in the family room we fenced off with tons of toys and things that make noise. The problem is, she's already figured out half of the latch to the gate! Fortunately, I think she'll lack the grip strength to pull back the spring lock for at least a year, so we've got time. As delighted as I am that she's a puzzle-solver (early problem-solving is indicative of a bunch of positive things) she's also showing signs of wanting to climb, so we'll have that thrown into the mix in a few months when she figures out how to pull herself up and over things.

Aside from all of that, she's at a stage where she's learning routines and starting to express likes and dislikes. Over the weekend I cut up some pieces of breakfast sausage for her and she curiously put them on her tongue, then chewed once, made a face, spat it out, and threw it on the floor. Okay then...we don't like that right now. She's a bit of a little hellion, too. When she's done with whatever she's eating, she'll pick up a chunk of it, make eye contact, then slowly and deliberately hold it over the tray, pause, then drop it to the floor. Then she goes back for more.

Pinecone's first word was "kitty" (though she can't do the "k" sound), followed by "dada" and "mama". She has about a dozen words (or sounds we recognize as intended words) and maybe ten signs. She's confused by the rabbit, though. She'll walk up to him and point, say "kitty", but make the "doggie" sign with her other hand. It's adorable. We enrolled her early on in swimming lessons, though infant swimming lessons are really more about water familiarity and exploration. She can blow bubbles, hold her breath underwater for a few seconds, will jump in from a sitting position on the edge, and as of recently is kicking when we cruise around the pool looking for "lost" rubber duckies.

Fatherhood really is wonderful. Every milestone is a treat, and we can already see elements of my personality and Lady Pine's mixing. Her eyes have settled on my blue, but her hair is staying her mom's blond, though it does have strawberry highlights in the right light. We'll see where that lands.

Also if it's goss about jiffadee you want, you can ask me anything. I have the inside scoop.
Yes, but you don't qualify. Psyche, shaft.ed, saporovirus, or Majiffy himself would count.

@Jingle - Nah. Mastina's history with me is too complex. You're not going to get anything rational out of her about me. It drives her fucking BONKERS that she can't read me for shit.

Which kind of proves my point. If nomnomnom were ACTUALLY a survivor, they gain nothing but problems by claiming it. Scum, however, can use the claim to lead investigations and other actions away from themselves, and then when endgame rolls around can say “why lynch me when you have a real threat to lynch.”

An actual survivor shouldn’t have claimed it like that, not so early with no pressure. QED, likely lying scum.

I have an additional requirement that any of those top 5 posters need to make a thread related to us politics here

and whether or not a post is "related to us politics" is left to xyzzy's divine judgment
I have a similar, almost identically-worded caveat.

W/r/t people reading me, I can’t think of anyone who can consistently do it. Your best bet is probably to listen to mastina and then do the opposite of whatever she says.

How about you actually scumhunt instead of playing this game of "nobody can read me nyerk nyerk nyerk" because let's be honest, that's horrible
You know I think that's the second time you've invoked "how about you scumhunt."

I actually am, and your need to say it twice makes me even more sure that I'm on the right track. I don't think we've ever actually played together, but most anyone who has can vouch for the fact that I don't dick around. I'm following the leads I see, and strawman attacks don't deter me.

8 pages overnight from mostly non-players shitposting. And because there's players doing good work in there, I had to read all that tripe. :igmeou:

Also I feel mildly betrayed that you didn't fall in line in the Federation of Cheddar, but I'll forgive you eventually.

In post 1301, Who wrote:When I said that I was being overly emotional, and upon looking back the "obv" part was unwarranted.

Pine let the game die. There was a bunch of momentum, things were happening, there was a wagon on Pine, he was asked for a comment on it, he was like "Nah", and everyone said "Wait what do we do now" and lost interest. The apathy he caused benefits scum. But town do anti-town things all the time and it isn't actual evidence.

I agree with you about the resistance to the Roster wagon. The Eevee wagon seems sketchy when viewed in this light, two players who hadn't previously mentioned Eevee suddenly vote a target players on the Roster wagon had been suspicious of, I suspect that at least one is scum.
Declining to entertain a non-wagon isn't apathy, wtf are you talking about?

Imperial Caesar accepts your apology, Senator, much belated though it may be! The functions of Our Glorious Empire have continued without impediment despite your nigh-treasonous actions, of course, but it is good that you have returned to Our bosom.

We beseech thee, Senator, on behalf of the Citizens of Eternal Rome, that you return from your indisposition at your earliest opportunity, that this loyal Senate may resume its Good Works in rooting out Barbarians and Traitors against Our Rule.

Roma Invicta!

You're claiming loverizer?
Sure, I'll fullclaim*. It's relevant.

The name of the role is town relationships X-shot cupid. If one of the top five posters in the 'Relationships' thread posts in this thread during a game day, one of my shots activates. The shot loverizes my targets. This serves a very similar balance function to an activated vigilante, so I do NOT believe nomnomnom is Town.

The possibility that she's a SK hadn't occurred to me, so I'll give some thought to keeping her around as a leashed SK, but I'm usually against it.

*At the last second I decided to redact the number of shots I'm eligible for. It's a finite number, but that number is tactical information, and sharing it really only serves scum.

I've decided to give nomnomnom a pass for now. I highly suspect that she's a SK, but she can be leashed. A good SK acts like a good vig anyway, and should never be allowed to survive to endgame. It will solve itself eventually, and hunting groupscum takes priority.

Still vibing roster scum, and this latest interaction with Lavender in particular feels like SvS theater.

I buy the commuter claim, just not the alignment. Commuter is absolutely a reasonable role to give scum when there's a vig/SK in the mix.

Intent to hammer.

I'm comfortable not having access to my power N1, I don't have a good target for it. Ofrhz, did you ever get yours activated? Should we spend time getting an NPC to summon someone?

Also commuter being reasonable is true but like. Do you get the impression xyzzy sat down to make these roles and thought, "ok it's time to make a reasonable setup."?
W/r/t this, I suspect we’re not being told the whole truth. It’s probably conditional or dependent on circumstances in a way he’s not saying. Hell, I’ve been an even commuter and claimed odd commuter just to bait the kill.

When you have multiple killing roles, it makes sense to throw in some defensive ones. Classic is bulletproof, but that’s passive and boring. Commuter is great because it’s active, and a bit of a gamble. Yes you’re protected, but you also can’t be cleared by a cop or make your factional kill. There’s more inherent jeopardy to it.

Xyzzy knows all of this, and enjoys convoluted PRs, so while commuter makes sense, simple even night modifier does not. That lends itself to being a partial fakeclaim.

Nom, come back to the wagon. And kill Lavender tonight, ok?

I doubt he does either, but A) Nothing is sure until the flip, especially in a role madness game and B) Without a hammer he was continuing to actively weasel out of a consensus lynch.

What part of setting an 8-hour deadline after waiting more than a day, then following through after a two-hour extension is confusing? Even if he flips green, I do not apologize for scumhunting and prosecution of my best guess. I played this straight.

Actually, I haven't been playing any of my games lately, but have actually kept most closely updated with this one. While I don't want to step on the toes of the new tightening of ongoing game rules by giving details, it's really only this afternoon that I've started to get back in the groove after a rough week. This is easily provable if you look at my recent posts.

I'm not sure what you gain from this gross misrepresentation.

I also am not going to discuss ongoing games besides to say what I already said, that you are doing nothing in this game while you have been posting in other games.
I really haven't, until the last few hours. Again, this is easily proved by looking at my overall recent activity.

Yes, I've been posting around the site, but not in games. Low-investment social stuff is very easy compared to keeping up with a 110-page game.

PE: Again, that's a misrepresentation. This game has the MOST participation, and even then that's piss-poor. It took me days to notice you addressing me.

Kindly fuck off.

Hi.

Okay, here's the deal. Last week was really difficult for me.
Spoiler: Emotional Health
I was not in a good place. My depression is usually pretty low-key, and well controlled with low-dose medication. I still have a bad day or two every month, and once or twice a year I have a bad week. Last week was that week. I've had a long conversation with my doctor, and while we've been avoiding it for a while. we've upped my dosage, hoping to whittle away at the off-times. I'm fine now. Quality time with family and reading several escapist novels and playing some mindless RPGs helped a lot. Don't worry, I'm never a danger to myself or others.

Apathy and ennui is a major feature of my bad times. I was barely keeping my head above water elsewhere around here, and completely failing to do so in a 100+ page thread.

I apologize for my absence. I probably should have replaced immediately, when the slot was still viable, rather than waiting until my unexplained absence had dug it into a hole no one wanted to take.

I kept this game bookmarked, but haven't really checked it in a week. On a whim I looked today to see who'd replaced me, and I found that no one had. That isn't fair to the Town, so I talked to xyzzy, and they're having a hard time finding someone who wants to read 125 pages with a disadvantaged slot. I'm going to give it another attempt, and I'll actually try this time.

Honestly, this post is what really got me to care enough to bother to contact xyzzy.

I don't do this as scum. Ever. Not once in my 7 years on site. It isn't how I operate. If I think something's lost, I try harder rather than giving up. Sometimes it works.

Here's an example of how I approach an "oh I'm fucked" scum slot. I replaced into this a few weeks ago by request, and went out in a blaze of glory. To see "scum gave up" attached to me is actually kind of offensive.

I did think you meant tactical replace-out, so rancor rescinded.

I have no idea. I barely skimmed the early game, don't remember much, and haven't read at all since at least dawn of D1. I thought I saw something about Mastina having an investigation of some kind?

I'm just engaging my replacement strategy at this point. I don't really know what's going on, and early D1 reads are usually obsolete by late D2 anyway.

PP knew I wanted to target nom, but wasn't allowed. He's not giving you information that wasn't already public.

I sent xyzzy a 90% joking message trying to loverize myself and nom, on the basis that UT was flirting when he posted, but xyzzy shut that down.

PP is lying, 100%, if he says he saw me actually make an action. I do not have an active power.

When I flip Town, I want everyone to consider that getting to 1000 pages is probably an alternate scum wincon.

That said, I'll be dead and won't have to read anymore, and I don't mind losing a meme game angling for the record books so *hito shrug*

I AM PLAYING TO MY WINCON

We have one scum down, and a guilty assertion against me. I'm trying to 1v1 Penguin, and you dicks won't pull the trigger.

When I came back in, we were at ~120 pages and slowing down. Now you people are actually spamming instead of just shitposting, and it's really frustrating.

I agree it's probably a good idea to get Ausuka to a prime number so she has a power, but it's infuriating to listen to all the bullshit.

mastina - This is mastina!Town, I think.
Jingle - Probably Town
Ausuka - Almost certainly Town
PenguinPower - IDFK. My gut says there's no scum motivation for claiming a false guilty, but there's no mechanic I know of to give false results to a tracker
Titus/pops/Tammy - Tonal Town read
Who/RC/Creature - I think this is the last scum by PoE, but more importantly, Creature going silent is telling. He's really easy to read as Town, and transparent as scum. In a hydra, I think he'd go silent on reading a scum role PM.
ofrhz - I have a broad TR on ohfrz, but it'll get sorted

Nah Ausuka's legit here, I think. If she successfully faked a cop result on her own partner and didn't screw up the supporting details, she deserves a win. Occam's suggests she's telling the truth.

She probably eats the kill tonight, or at least gets roleblocked. Still, it's worth powering her up, if for no other reason than to force scum's hand on her.

Hell, on the off chance PP is telling the truth and simply got bad information somehow, having him Watch her is at least as good as a Cop result.

Yeah, you're Town this game.

Do me a favor, pops? You seem to be the only one willing to give me the time of day here.

On my flip, please make sure my sacrifice is not forgotten.

I am fully cognizant of the possibility you're town, btw. I'm leaning towards the opposite, mostly because penguin faking a guilty here doesn't make any sense, but I'm aware of what you being town would mean.

I'm also not really serious about my desire to force the game into a record book. That was mostly memeing and being drunk.

I have been a named VT all game. The only top 5 posters in Relationships to post here is UT, and he posted a bare vote on the mod. I’m not activated. I have no power to track.

Honestly that’s the whole case. I agree you are obligated to lynch me, you don’t question guilties outside of LYLO. My townflip proves my story.

Further, I never replace out of this as scum. Ever. That’s not my style.

you're right. i am not considering the possibility of you being town. i think that it would be outlandish for PP to make this play in the way that he did if you are town and he is scum.

if i'm wrong then i'm wrong but i am never going to not vote you here and you calling me an "arrogant fuck" for playing mechanically optimally is very telling.
No, I didn't call you "confirmed scum". I said you were by biggest read outside of PP.

I'm not calling you out for voting me - I'm encouraging it. I'm calling you out for the dismissive and rude attitude. Mafia is adversarial, but it doesn't have to be petty.

None of that is inconsistent.

Jingle, you have to lynch me. The only way we don't lynch me is if we cupid me to someone scummy.

Even if it weren't technically cheating, I would consider it so. Further, if I were going to do so, I'd have done it already. I don't cheat. Ever.

By the way, RC, if you were looking for incidents of you being rude and insulting, take a look at right now. You're being massively disrespectful.

Whatever, RC.

Look, it’s twilight now, and I’m rethinking my SR on you. I don’t know that you behave like this in EOD as scum.

I haven’t lied, not even a little. I’m Town, and my Cupid power never activated. Penguin’s claim is either false or xyzzy not invented a new mechanic that can fuck with tracker results. I’m not inclined to believe the latter.

Just as you can’t let a guilty go without a lynch, neither can you let a false guilty stand. Lynch the shit out of PP.

Ausuka, your best investigation might be Mastina. She’s not giving much content at all to analyze, and per her own strategy for Cops, which I’m not going to go find a link to while phoneposting, you investigate where you have the least evidence.

Sorry, this is the more pertinent quote.

A less-personally-hurtful way to have asked this would be to query if it's legal, rather than "is this cheating." It's a subtle difference, but the former is a rules question, the latter is tantamount to an accusation.

What I found hurtful was the presumption that I would even consider something like that. We've played together quite a bit over the years, and even if we've never really been friends, I had assumed a degree of professional respect. I find cheating, even skirting or bending the rules, to be personally repugnant. A win where I had to resort to cheap tricks isn't a win. I'll do every kind of legal and above-board deception in the book, and even write a few new pages in said book, but I'd rather lose honorably than take an unearned victory.
