A particular spin on the fight of 'black versus white' that has gained significant traction in the cultural mind is the focus on White being less rule-abiding and Black to be more rule-abiding. To blur the lines a little while keeping the respective conflict intact. Spurred by real-life unrest, and reiterated in multiple forms, as science discovers that life itself cannot be simply categorized our culture as a whole has begin to stop viewing conflict, emotion, and interactions in such a blaise manner.

It can also be a jab at the fact that Intelligence is a common dump stat for Paladins in 3.5, since their MAD mandates high Charisma and Wisdom, the traditional dump stats of combat classes.
