1000 Blank White Cards (Abandoned)

Post Post #0 (isolation #0) » Sat Sep 07, 2019 6:21 am

Post by Equinox »

I'm starting a game of 1000 Blank White Cards. The premise of the game is that people submit cards of their own creation, and everyone plays cards from the deck. Doesn't that sound fun?

Status

There are
31
cards left in the deck. The deck has been shuffled
1
time and the table has been flipped
3
times since the game began.

Players
(in turn order with point values)

Cheetory6 (470.7 points and 1 cat)
Cheery Dog
Skygazer
(0 points)
Haschel Cedricson (754.2 points)
Formerfish
James Brafin
(3,060 points)
Plotinus (0 points)
Yimmy
Inferno390
(8.1 points and 3 llamas)
schadd_ (414 points)
Errantparabola (0 points)
McMenno (0 points)
NotAJumbleOfNumbers (0 points)

Table

These Cards Suck. - Players may now opt to take this card from the table in lieu of playing a card.
Active Crime Scene - Haschel Cedricson will instead gain 200 points for every card or effect that would cause Haschel Cedricson to lose a card from the hand, with an increase of 20 points per detective in play.
Hold On - schadd_ will ignore the effects of any card that cause any changes to his hand. If a card is played that would affect schadd_'s hand, "Hold On" will be passed to the person who played that card.
Beard of Cats - Cheetory6 gains one cat at the start of his turn.
Skygazer's Revenge - Any player who has not vetoed a card played by Skygazer by the end of the game will meet this win condition.
Danny DeVeto - Haschel Cedricson will gain 20 points for every instance when a player makes a post or plays a card containing the word "veto" or any of its cognates.
Fragile Vase - This card is worth 3,500 points. While this card is in effect, its point value will decrease by 15% for each time a player targets Formerfish.
Double Play - Any player may pay one point each to play an additional card on their turn.
Draw Balancer - Whenever a card causes additional cards to be drawn, shuffle a random card from the discard pile into the draw pile for each card drawn where possible.
Dabbing Luigi - Plotinus wins instead of loses points, loses instead of wins points, wins the game instead of losing, and loses the game instead of winning.
Waffleiicous! - At the end of the game, Errantparabola will gain five points for each waffle under her control. While this card is in effect, it gets passed to any player whose creature deals Errantparabola damage.
crucial waukesha card - At the end of the game, Drench wins instead of anyone else.
Psionic Storm - Any card that would otherwise invoke an effect on another player to cause the target player to lose two points instead, lasting until Cheery Dog's turn in Round 4.

Rules

Many of these rules have been adapted from Smart.

Basic Rules

These rules cannot be changed by any events in the game.

  1. Be fair and exercise good sportsmanship. It is mostly up to the players to determine what is fair and what is unfair, cards-wise. Refer to the following section to see how to contest unfair cards.
  2. If you want to play the game but have missed the window to join, then please send me a PM and I can add you to the replacement list. Players will be replaced after 72 hours of inactivity. If there is no ready replacement, then the player is dropped from the game and their hand is re-shuffled into the deck.
  3. Cards can have only one effect at a time.
  4. Cards may not make players lose turns.
  5. Cards may not establish a win condition that triggers before the end of the deck (i.e., the game ends only when the deck runs out and not before).
Additional Rules

These are rules that have been added or removed over the course of the game.

No additional rules have been established!

Contesting Cards

Simply let it be known that you feel the card played was unfair. If a majority of players vote the card down before the next player takes their turn, then the card is cancelled. The offending player does not get another play. The card goes into the graveyard as a blank. If it was a pre-made card, then I take my L for allowing it to happen and the card is simply deleted from the game.

Setup

Basic Gameplay

On your turn, you draw a card, and you play a card. This may change at any time. You win by meeting the win condition when the deck runs out. If there are no win conditions in effect when this occurs, then the default win condition is highest number of points.

There will be a virtual table with players to your left and right. Prior to the start of the game, the list of players will be shuffled; players above you are to your left and players below you are to your right.

The Deck

The deck of
[(numplayers * 6) + 20]
cards
consists of the following:

Pre-made cards
are made by players and the moderator prior to the start of the game. Each player will make six (6) cards before the start of the game.

Blank cards
can be made into new cards at any time in the game. If a player draws a blank card on their turn, then they are allowed to play that card as a new card on that same turn if they so wish.

All cards must have:
  • Title
  • Picture
  • Effect
The cards can be anything that you want them to be! For example, you can give or take away points, you can buff or de-buff, you can cause an effect that affects the entire table or as many players as you desire, or you can do absolutely nothing.

History

Pre-Game

Start Again has been revealed from the deck. All players are asked to create four additional new cards to be set aside until "Start Again" is played during the game.

Round 1

[Veto:]
Errantparabola motions to veto "Start Again". With three votes to defeat the card, the card remains in the game.

Cheetory draws a card. Cheetory6 plays a blank card, These Cards Suck., and places it on the table. Players may now opt to take this card from the table in lieu of playing a card. Cheetory6's hand is placed at the bottom of the deck, and Cheetory6 draws four cards.

Skygazer draws a card. Skygazer plays Winner of the SUPP and places it on the table. While this card is in effect, all players must send Skygazer (and myself, please) a card from their hands during Skygazer's turn.

[Veto:]
Inferno390 motions to veto "Winner of the SUPP". With three votes to defeat the card, the card remains in the game.

Haschel Cedricson draws a card. Haschel Cedricson plays a blank card, Active Crime Scene, and places it on the table. While this card is in effect, Haschel Cedricson will instead gain 200 points for every card or effect that would cause Haschel Cedricson to lose a card from the hand, with an increase of 20 points per detective in play.

Inferno390 targets "Winner of the SUPP" with Turn to Dust and puts both cards into the discard pile.

[Moderator Error:]
Inferno390 was mistakenly sent a card. The card has been placed back into the deck at a random position; the deck itself has not been reshuffled.

James Brafin draws a card. James Brafin plays Deckshift. James Brafin examines the top three cards of the deck and re-orders them before returning them to the top of the deck. James Brafin draws a card.

Plotinus draws a card. Plotinus plays Calamity, and places it on the table. The top five cards of the deck have been added underneath this card. While this card is in effect, players may, in addition to their default turn action, pay five points play a card from this stack of five. If any cards played from under this stack would cause a player to gain points, then they would instead lose the specified number of points.

Inferno390 draws a card. Inferno390 plays a blank card, Illaminati, on himself. There are three face-up cards on the table, so Inferno390 gains 15 points and 3 llamas. Inferno390 pays 5 points to play the top card from the "Calamity" stack, Tagteam. Inferno390 may now play any permanent card (i.e., card that is played to the table) that is currently in his hand and take any cards currently played in front of him. Inferno390 takes Illaminati back from the table.

schadd_ draws a card. schadd_ plays Hold On and places it on the table. While this card is in effect, schadd_ will ignore the effects of any card that cause any changes to his hand. If a card is played that would affect schadd_'s hand, "Hold On" will be passed to the person who played that card.

Errantparabola draws a card. Errantparabola plays Evil Car Seat Headrest: Twin Fantasy (2023) and chooses schadd_, who must now give Errantparabola two cards. However, James Brafin plays Let's Make a Deal . . . to cancel "Evil Car Seat Headrest: Twin Fantasy (2023)". Errantparabola flips the table three times in rapid succession. Errantparabola and James Brafin each draw a card. James Brafin plays Divination and draws two cards. Errantparabola plays a blank card, Evil Car Seat Headrest: Twin Fantasy (2023), on schadd_, who must gives Errantparabola two cards. schadd_ sends her two cards and receives "Evil Car Seat Headrest: Twin Fantasy (2023)" in return.

McMenno draws a card. McMenno plays a card on the table face-down.

NotAJumbleOfNumbers draws a card. NotAJumbleOfNumbers plays a blank card, Pot of Greed, and draws two cards.

Round 2

Cheetory6 draws a card. Cheetory6 plays Beard of Cats.

Skygazer draws a card. Skygazer plays a blank card, Skygazer's Revenge, to the table. Any player who has not vetoed a card played by Skygazer by the end of the game will meet this win condition.

[Veto:]
James Brafin motions to veto "Skygazer's Revenge". With one vote to defeat the card, the card remains in the game.

Haschel Cedricson draws a card. Haschel Cedricson plays a blank card, Danny DeVeto, and places it on the table. While this card is in effect, Haschel Cedricson will gain 20 points for every instance when a player makes a post or plays a card containing the word "veto" or any of its cognates. Haschel Cedricson gains 80 points from three posts by Skygazer and one post by schadd_.

James Brafin draws a card. James Brafin plays a blank card, Reset. James Brafin discards Chains of Mennosteles and Rainbow Reverse and draws three cards. James Brafin plays a blank card, Fast Action, which enables him to take two more actions during this turn. James Brafin plays Fragile Vase, which grants him 3,500 points; while this card is in effect, its point value will decrease by 15% for each time a player targets James Brafin. James Brafin then plays Double Play and pays three points to play: (1) SleepyKrew, which enables James Brafin to draw three cards; (2) Tangible Rainbow on the face-down card in front of McMenno, removing the card from the game; and (3) Worst Mystery Novel Ever, which grants James Brafin 300 points; while this card is in effect, James Brafin will gain 300 points for each detective put into play. James Brafin pays 20 points to play the remaining four cards from the "Calamity" stack: (1) a blank card, which James Brafin must create in this turn; (2) Storm Crow, which will either deal or take damage for James Brafin as appropriate; (3) Draw Balancer, which enacts a rule where cards will be reshuffled into the deck from the discards pile for every card that is drawn from the deck as the result of a card; and (4) Start Again, which launches a sub-game of 1000 Blank White Cards. James Brafin draws five cards. James Brafin plays a blank card, Lunar Rejection, which allows him to use this card and another card played to the table in front of him to cancel a card currently on the table; he discards "Storm Crow" and "Start Again".

[Moderator Error:]
Double Play was misinterpreted as allowing multiple plays rather than a second play. The game is not being reset to this point in time, but James Brafin's turn is ended.

Plotinus draws a card. Plotinus plays Dabbing Luigi, which enables Plotinus to receive the effect opposite of any card played on Plotinus, including winning or losing the game. Haschel Cedricson gains 580 points from three posts by McMenno, 15 posts by Cheetory6, four posts by Plotinus, two posts by schadd_, one post by Errantparabola, one post by Skygazer, and three posts by NotAJumbleOfNumbers.

Formerfish replaces James Brafin.

Inferno390 draws a card. Inferno390 plays a blank card, Equinox's Veto, which restarts the game with each player creating five new cards, 10 blank cards being added to the deck, and the deck being reshuffled.

[Veto:]
McMenno motions to veto "Winner of the SUPP". With eight votes to defeat the card, the card is removed from the game with eight votes and discarded as a blank card. Haschel Cedricson gains 160 points from one post by Inferno390, one post by McMenno, one post by Plotinus, one post by schadd_, one post by Formerfish, one post by NotAJumbleOfNumbers, one post by Cheetory6, and one post by Skygazer. One post by Haschel Cedricson is not counted.

schadd_ draws a card. schadd_ plays Bernie Sanders, netting him 82 points from Haschel Cedricson, 377 points from Formerfish, and one point from Inferno390.

Errantparabola draws a card. Errantparabola plays Wafflelicious!, which will give her five points per waffle in her control at the end of the game.

McMenno draws a card. McMenno plays a blank, crucial waukesha card, which allows Drench to win at the end of the game instead of anyone else. Haschel Cedricson gains 40 points from one post by NotAJumbleOfNumbers and one post by Inferno390.

[Veto:]
NotAJumbleOfNumbers motions to veto "crucial waukesha card". With one vote to defeat the card, the card remains in the game.

NotAJumbleOfNumbers draws a card. NotAJumbleOfNumbers plays a blank, Polarity Reversal, which swaps the draw pile and discard pile, adds 10 blanks to each pile, and shuffles each pile. Haschel Cedricson gains 60 points from one post by McMenno, one post by Plotinus, and one post by Skygazer.

[Veto:]
McMenno motions to veto "Polarity Reversal". With three votes to defeat the card, the card remains in the game.

Round 3

Cheetory6 draws a cat and a card. Cheetory6 plays Bernie Sanders, netting him 83.8 points from Haschel Cedricson, 340 points from Formerfish, 0.9 points from Inferno390, and 46 points from schadd_.

Everyone should have received
four
cards! Blanks are listed at the top for visibility.

The table is as follows, from left to right:

Cheetory6 - Skygazer - Haschel Cedricson - James Brafin - Plotinus - Inferno390 - schadd_ - Errantparabola - McMenno - NotAJumbleOfNumbers

If you could please do the following when you play your turn, then it would make my life 10x easier:
  • Note any status changes
(e.g., ailments, buffs). Status changes, unless otherwise specified, are immediately played to the table and do not count as your one card played.
  • Note if you are playing a blank card.

  • Note any rule changes.

  • If you see that it is your turn, then you do not have to wait for a PM. Just play! You will, however, have to wait for your card draw on your second turn. This is to get all the first-turn status ailments out of the way.
    (Stolen from Smart.)
I will update as often as I can, but generally this will happen once per day at approximately 8:00 PM PDT (UTC-7).

With apologies, I am putting this game on hold for a little bit longer. As soon as I am ready, I will send a PM notifying you that the game has started. Thank you for your patience!

While we are waiting for the game to officially begin, I am going to start the pre-game phase:

Image

Please submit your
four additional new cards
to me as soon as possible. If this card goes into play before all players have submitted their additional cards, then I will impose a deadline.

All right. Thank you for your patience. The game will start now.

A player has requested a veto of "Start Again". Normally, I would do this as cards are played, but, given that this card was activated in pre-game, I will go ahead and start the process. (This is also the only time I will take a private request for a veto, as the thread was locked at the time.) Please post here if you want to veto the card. Votes for vetoes will be taken until the next card is played (i.e., Cheetory6 takes his turn).

In the meantime, it is
Cheetory6
's turn!

As a reminder, the point of having a veto vote is to catch cards that are unfair or are against the spirit of the game. While I will ultimately honor any majority votes for removal of a card, I would very much prefer to not have to step in every single round. With 10 players in the game, it will take 6 votes to veto a card.

"Start Again" remains in the game with three votes.

There are currently three votes to veto "Winner of the SUPP".

It is Haschel Cedricson's turn.

MODERATOR ERROR:
Inferno390 was mistakenly sent a card. The card has been placed back into the deck at a random position; the deck itself has not been reshuffled.

McMenno cannot play a blank card out of turn, so Calm Down, Everyone! is not in effect.

James Brafin draws a card. James Brafin plays Deckshift, which allows James Brafin to peek at the top three cards of the deck. It is still James Brafin's turn.

An update is incoming whenever I finish righting this table and cleaning up the mess or whenever I am done eating spicy food. One of the options is more compelling to me at this moment.

Errantparabola flips the table three times in rapid succession.

It is now Errantparabola's and James Brafin's turns. Duke it out or something.

In post 131, James Brafin wrote:Can you create a card that's already been created?
Yes. There is no core rule against it.

Skygazer draws a card. Skygazer plays a blank card, Skygazer's Revenge, to the table. Any player who has not vetoed a card played by Skygazer by the end of the game will meet this win condition.

It is Haschel Cedricson's turn.

"Skygazer's Revenge" remains in the game with one vote.

Haschel Cedricson gains 80 points from three posts by Skygazer, who has a deep love for someone who is suspiciously like Beto O'Rourke but is one key to the left on a U.S. QWERTY keyboard, and one post by schadd_.

It is James Brafin's turn.

Damn. I knew I had missed something. Thanks for catching that. The number of points don't change; I had mistaken the attribution.

James Brafin draws a card. James Brafin plays a blank card, Reset. James Brafin discards Chains of Mennosteles and Rainbow Reverse and draws three cards.

It is still James Brafin's turn.

James Brafin plays a blank card, Fast Action, which enables him to take two more actions during this turn. James Brafin plays Fragile Vase, which grants him 3,500 points; while this card is in effect, its point value will decrease by 15% for each time a player targets James Brafin. James Brafin then plays Double Play and pays three points to play:
  1. SleepyKrew, which enables James Brafin to draw three cards
  2. Tangible Rainbow on the face-down card in front of McMenno, removing the card from the game
  3. Worst Mystery Novel Ever, which grants James Brafin 300 points; while this card is in effect, James Brafin will gain 300 points for each detective put into play
James Brafin pays 20 points to play the remaining four cards from the "Calamity" stack:

A blank card! James Brafin must now create a new card.

All players now have 72 hours from this point to create and submit four cards for the "Start Again" sub-game if they have not done so already. Once James Brafin plays his blank card and once all cards have been received, deadline has passed, or any other actions that take effect prior to the sub-game have done so, the sub-game will begin.

Deadline counter: (expired on 2019-09-28 01:18:30)

James Brafin draws five cards. James Brafin plays a blank card, Lunar Rejection, which allows him to use this card and another card played to the table in front of him to cancel a card currently on the table; he discards "Storm Crow" and "Start Again".

It is Plotinus's turn.

As far as I can determine, I made a moderator error by misinterpreting Double Play. For the sake of my own sanity, I am not resetting the game to this point in time, but I am ending James Brafin's turn. The blank card was allowed to resolve before Start Again because it was drawn ahead of "Start Again"; in terms of action resolution, the blank card would resolve first.

Well done, everyone.

NotAJumbleOfNumbers cannot play a blank card out of turn, so Adding Fuel to the Flames is not in effect.

McMenno cannot play a blank card out of turn, so STOP ALL THIS BULLSHIT is not in effect.

Cheetory6 cannot play a blank card out of turn, so a genie is not in effect.

Errantparabola cannot play a blank card out of turn, so A return to form is not in effect.

It is Inferno390's turn.

Apologies for the delay. It has been a wild week.

Inferno390 draws a card. Inferno390 plays a blank card, Equinox's Veto, which restarts the game with each player creating five new cards, 10 blank cards being added to the deck, and the deck being reshuffled.

"Equinox's Veto" is removed from the game with eight votes. It is discarded as a blank card.

It is schadd_'s turn.

schadd_ draws a card. schadd_ plays Bernie Sanders, netting him 82 points from Haschel Cedricson, 377 points from Formerfish, and one point from Inferno390. Unfortunately, as we are not in a Caucasian Chalk Circle, I will not be having Inferno390 and schadd_ each pulling on a llama to determine ownership of the poor beast.

It is Errantparabola's turn.

McMenno draws a card. McMenno plays a blank, crucial waukesha card, which allows Drench to win at the end of the game instead of anyone else.

It is NotAJumbleOfNumbers's turn. This is the end of the deck. Once NotAJumbleOfNumbers takes this turn, the game will end.

Correction: Haschel Cedricson gains 40 points from one post by NotAJumbleOfNumbers and one post by Inferno390.

"crucial waukesha card" remains in the game with one vote.

"Polarity Reversal" remains in the game with three votes.

Round 2 has ended with the following tallies:

Cheetory6 (0 points)
Skygazer (0 points)
Haschel Cedricson (838 points)
Formerfish (3,400 points)
Plotinus (0 points)
Inferno390 (9 points and 3 llamas)
schadd_ (460 points)
Errantparabola (0 points)
McMenno (0 points)
NotAJumbleOfNumbers (0 points)

There are 31 cards left in the deck. The deck has been shuffled 1 time.

It is Cheetory6's turn.

Cheetory6 draws a cat and a card. Cheetory6 plays Bernie Sanders, netting him 83.8 points from Haschel Cedricson, 340 points from Formerfish, 0.9 points from Inferno390, and 46 points from schadd_.

It is Skygazer's turn.

Cheery Dog draws a card. Cheery Dog plays Psionic Storm, which causes any card that would otherwise invoke an effect on another player to cause the target player to lose two points instead, lasting until Cheery Dog's turn in Round 4.

It is Haschel Cedricson's turn.

Formerfish draws a card. Formerfish plays Match Two, which allows Formerfish to play two cards made by the same author twice each. Formerfish plays Carnival is more joyful . . . twice, which grants Formerfish two joy points per turn for as long as the card is in play. Formerfish then plays I would trade my one room . . . twice, which enables Formerfish to trade one card for two of another player's cards on two separate occasions.

It is still Formerfish's turn.

If anyone wants their hand sent to them, then please request it.

On that note, this game has run way over what anyone would have reasonably expected, so I don't blame anyone if they want to dip out. I would prefer that than to be asked more than once to take random actions on your behalf. If that happens more than once, then I will simply remove you from the game. Thanks.

It is Plotinus's turn.
