Scum was actually my third pick this game.

Shake things up a bit.

Choosing scum with my reputation in a UPick is pointless.

Yeah, something’s definitely off about Plum. That little diatribe is way overdone for what amounts to a misunderstanding of a complicated, unique ruleset.

Dude, you're acting like I showed up with a fake nose and mustache, danced a jig, and sang, "Nothing to see here, folks!"

I was effectively
asked.

The scum PT clearly said to each other in N0, "Hey guys, Pine ML first?" "Yeah, easy mode."

Not saying that everyone jumping on me is scum, clearly not...but there's definitely a low-hanging fruit motive to this push.

skygazer
GreyICE
Katsuki
Plum

No clue so far, it's too early to have a real readslist. But now that you self-consciously mention it, your vote IS hella scummy, and saying "no points" doesn't make it not opportunistic AF.

Plum, I listed everyone so I could do a PoE and analysis, but not one of those names has done anything (anything) other than make a meta WIFOM case against me, if that.

The only exception is you, and you practically came in your pants when the opportunity to hop on a free wagon showed up.

I’d love to do some scumhunting, but the only topic that’s really come up, aside from meta spec on me and Plum’s opportunism, is implosion’s brief foray into setup spec, which I want to say is mildly Townish

I collected together everyone who was voting, took a look at them individually, collectively, and decided mid-post that it was too early to have any kind of real opinion about most of them. Ali and sky didn't give real reasons iirc, Grey and Kats were specifically meta reasons, and Plum was opportunistic. Only the last of those is at all AI, so I decided not to do the full thing.

This isn't weird, and I feel I've thoroughly explained myself.

How did someone slip you a key
It apparently has its own method of being passed which...I think I prefer to keep to myself for now. I’ll hold onto the key for a bit, because I don’t really want to be inflict it on anyone yet.

Sorry for brevity, wanted to move quickly.

The black key can be passed by bracketing someone else’s posts with your own. I didn’t see the point of sharing this method or inflicting it on anyone, but it didn’t occur to me that people would think I’d invented it completely.

Skygazer should be able to verify my account of the black key as soon as LLD gets around to PMing her.

It's CYS, you couldn't have missed
We can scumhunt with a player list
A shitty reaction
No excuse for inaction
Burn this, TL next, don't care who is pissed.
No, you can’t scumhunt.

You can make meta guesses, and that’s it. I picked Town *specifically* to avoid this, and a meta argument is tantamount to WIFOM

So, are you going to hide behind your fake-ass post restriction all game, or are you going to stop using it as an excuse not to do anything eventually? Seems to me that Alisae has made eir thoughts known just fine despite a real PR, whereas you’ve harped and mocked on one or two topics while avoiding anything else

Oh and D) It doesn’t make sense from a setup perspective to have all of these events, curses, and added shenanigans, but also have one player hobbled the whole game. You’d just use the limerick PR as an event/curse etc

... so what do you make of GreyICE faking this?
I think...I dunno. It's probably NAI? Gimmick-y gameplay happens as any alignment. When Aeronaut and I made Caesar Wills It before Civ mafia, we decided to do it before roles and alignments were randed.

Strictly speaking, I think it means Grey decided to dick around, no more, no less. Functionally, it makes him almost impossible to fairly read, and makes questioning or refuting him frustratingly difficult.

Actually, I've seen people stop fake restrictions and not have it held against them. Personally, I'd give him a pass on it and be happy to have a GreyICE I could have a real conversation with. He'd be an asset in a game like this.

Gimmicks are fun, and I think people get that. I just think it's wildly counterproductive here.

Limericks have a defined meter which he's not following very closely. Without going through them with a fine-toothed comb, I'd ballpark about 1/3 of them as technically not limericks.

Is it possible that LLD is giving him a pass for best effort? Maybe. Likely, in a game like this where she's gleefully punishing petty infractions? Nah.

As for B), how exactly is he supposed to make a limerick with imgs and gifs? If GreyICE's slot had randed that event (or really any future PR) they would be incompatible at a design level.

PE: At this point, I'm beginning to suspect that Katsuki is a some sort of Lyncher variety.

The lyncher is the third party, Maria. Kats claimed it.
Taking the flapless thing into account I still don't mind Pine getting voted but I value him as a player enough to let him play the game a bit more.
Blushing!
Gamma is town btw. Don't ask why at the moment it's in no ones best interest to know why.

I'm not performing.

Think about it from my perspective for a sec - I got a really large, serious wagon on me for a bullshit (but kinda valid) reason right out of the gate. I was excited for a funky game with people I like, but then get practically policy lynched. That hurt, and I did take it personally. Ever since I've been trying to recover and get to work, but it's not easy.

I actually think GreyICE is faking his restriction. I don't know why, but Occam's says "for lulz"

I do actually think Kats is a Lyncher. It's by far the best explanation for his behavior, and has literally (not figuratively) done absolutely nothing so far but attack me, despite having the fourth highest post total. I think he's ballsy enough to claim it, thinking he won't be taken seriously. This is bastard mod, remember? With explicit third party? Lyncher satisfies that.

What's really frustrating me is that "nuh-uh" is an invalid defense to the assertion you're making about my choices here.

I actually do enjoy playing Town once in a while, and thought that picking scum would be suicidal.

Guess that concern was right.

I didn't think they'd be this intense...reputation or not, my actual preference for scum is pretty mild. I did think it would help me enjoy the game a bit more - I'm gearing up for the third installment of the Revenge series, and I don't need that "hunted by competent people" stress in my life, especially during camp season.

I'm actually rather shook that a WIFOM argument like "Pine always chooses scum" is holding water with people this experienced. That's why I smell a rat.

Also, I somehow have the black key again, despite the rules of it suggesting that Alisae should have it. Someone's using shenanigans to move it around. I'm going to hold onto it for a bit, because I'm not a dick.

Implosion, do me a favor. Throw out the "Lynchers don't exist" preconception you have, and ISO Katsuki. Show me one post - just one - which doesn't fit a Lyncher.

I didn't. It took me a while to get there.

If Katsuki had been pursuing a couple of targets and not looking at possible Town or w/e, I'd say scum.

We're in a flagged-as-bastard game with acknowledged third party, and Katsuki HAS NOT posted ANYTHING except attacks on me and deflections about himself. Nothing. Not one single opinion about anyone or anything else. No setup spec, no scumhunting, no Townreading, not even any banter. Single-minded attacking of a single target, plus unprompted and repeated claiming of Lyncher.

Any other game or situation, I'd agree with you. In this game, Lyncher isn't only possible, but actually kind of likely.

This fucking game

I pick Town ONCE and get lynched for it

Let’s see, last minute reads

I have a gut feeling that {Skygazer, Alisae} contains 1 scum
Grats to Lyncher Katsuki
Kuribo and implosion are probably Town
Plum still scum
Take a good long look at Maria, I think she bailed on my wagon when she thought it would look bad later to be on it

Umm everyone else idk and don’t give a shit

Hopefully I’m reading this wrong and can save everyone else from the black key

No, implosion

I was put to L-2 before there was any meaningful content on the board at ALL, specifically for meta reasons. They weren’t even RVS votes. Then when I panic a little, I get a lyncher jumping down my throat, Ali memeing at me, and everything I said got ignored

The 2/3 OMGUS scumread? I voted Plum first. Plum’s vote was after mine. If anything, you’ve got it backwards.

This felt personal. I tried to tell myself “Dude, they’re afraid of the awesome might of your scumgame,” but bullshit. This had nothing to do with my play here. The last couple of votes, maybe, but the bulk of the wagon was advertised as a meta policy lynch. “Pine chooses scum here every time”

No I fucking don’t. I like having my reputation, but lately it’s made actually playing the game really hard, because I get reverse-BOP’ed in every damn game.

It’s really bothering me, because while I get that there’s some merit to the initial suspicion, I’m not really being given any kind of fair shake

Nah you’re right, I just reread it

Aren’t you going to just lynch Maria? I’m still not sure what the point of making someone drop if you’re gearing up to get rid of them anyway

Checking my role PM also reminded me that it will also suppress her voice and vote for a little while

Technically, as a ghost, I suppose I DO need permission to be Town...so thanks for real? #confusingmechanics

Alternatively, I don't care to beg. I'm not likely to be the sole survivor, so I'll focus on who I'd rather banish.
