I'm not sure you must play under your main, but I believe you can play under an alt as long as your main is publicly announced.

I have set up a training camp for myself in preparation for this event, and I'm glad to report phase 1 has been completes and was an utter success.

For lack of other player to practice with I set up a game of just 1 player (myself, obviously) and since a lynch could not have been achieved with just one player left I declared the game over. Unfortunately; the win condition I had set was "to get someone else lynched before the game ended" so I lost, but it was an exciting experience none-the-less.
