Hello, one and all! WELCOME to

Survivor: The Real Theme Was Inside Us All Along.

You're probably wondering, does this game have a logo? The answer is "of course".

Image

Wow, look at that beauty.

If you don't already know me, I'm PrivateI, or Monty, and my beautiful cohosts are Cheery Dog and D3f3nd3r. They're very lovely, definitely go check out their Soundclouds or whatever they're plugging. The listmod for this game is Xofelf, she is absolutely delightful, but if things go wrong, don't blame her--just tell her! She is here to be a conduit for any complaints you might have with our moderation of the game, or concerns with the game in general that you might not feel comfortable sharing with us. While I encourage you to approach the modteam with any concerns you might have, Xofelf is a very sweet person to talk to, so I totes understand you going to her.

Moderator Contact Information

Since this game is a bit unconventional, I'm going to throw our Discord information right here in the opening post. Feel free to contact us via pm on the site like you normally would, but you can also reach any of us at the Discord addresses below.

Background Information

There are a few things you should know about this game going in.

{01} This is a
NONANONYMOUS
game. Once the game begins, the full cast will be listed here, and in general, open communication about whether you intend to sign up is allowed. That begins now, so if you want to get your best friend to join you in signing up for this game, feel free! With that in mind, however, "pregaming", or forming alliances before the game begins, is explicitly not allowed.

{02} This is a game with
TRIBES
. Once the game begins, players will be divided into tribes. You will
ONLY
be allowed to communicate about the game with people from your tribe.

{03} When you are allowed to communicate with people from your tribe, you may talk to them using
ANY PLATFORM
you both deem acceptable--this forum, Facebook, Discord, texts, cute postcards from around the world with fun stamps, memes transported in the mouths of baby goats, the options really are limitless! With that said, the only requirement to play in this game is a Mafiascum account.

{04} This game is
NOT
designed to be
OVERWHELMING
. While tribe counts and numbers can vary significantly, you will never be asked to keep track of conversations with more than ten people at one time, either during the tribe phase of the game or during the merge phase of the game. In addition,
CHALLENGES
have been designed to induce very little stress. In general, there will be no live or semi-live challenges, even during the tribal phase. Depending on the size of the game, it is possible that live or semi-live challenges could be incorporated toward the end of the game.

{05} This game has many
VARIABLES
and is not fully designed yet (kind of). While challenges are broadly in place, and the mod team has a general understanding of which twists will be included, the game has one huge factor which has not been set yet--the number of players! That is because we will accept, broadly,
EVERY PLAYER
who signs up.

{06} While our intent is to accept everyone who signs up, circumstances such as players not wanting to play together or other factors, including moderator discretion, may prevent everyone who applies from being able to play.

Rules

{01} This is a game. The main objective is to have fun; so no excessive flaming, spamming, or otherwise being a jerk.

{02} This is a game. The secondary objective is to win.

{03} We are not infallible, so if we make a moderating mistake, please point it out and we will correct it if needed.

{04} We have worked extensively to produce a game that is enjoyed by all involved. As such, we promise to offer each player respect but invite you to show us the same in return.

{05} Exercise common sense. If you are unsure as to whether an action conflicts with the rules, ask. Yes, this is a competition, but do not attempt to undermine challenges or game mechanics for your own gain. This violates the spirit of the game and will make me sad, and while my name is blue, I don't like to feel blue.

{06} Private communication with players outside of your tribe or eliminated players is strictly prohibited. Any player found in violation of this rule will be penalized however the mods see fit, up to and including their elimination from the game.

{07} The posting of messages between players (whether via text (paraphrasing is fine) or via image) in a public forum is explicitly disallowed. You are also prohibited from taking a screenshot of private messages and showing them to other players. Forwarding is not allowed. Basically, just don't share images of messages, and don't straight copy/paste whole message logs. Once again, if you have any questions about whether something conflicts with the rules, just hit one of the moderators up.

{08} You ARE allowed to create group chats among the players you're allowed to talk to. Go nuts. Have fun.

{09} The moderators may discipline any player that breaks the rules however we see fit, depending on the specific situation. We also reserve the right to implement new rules if needed.

{10} Failure to submit entirely in a challenge (when a player is supposed to participate) will earn a player a strike. Failure to submit a vote during a Tribal Council a player is attending will earn a player a strike (and a public self-vote, as detailed below). Getting two strikes in a row may result in a player being modkilled. Getting three strikes during the game may result in a player being modkilled. A player getting modkilled during Tribal Council will nullify the results of that Tribal Council, at the moderators' discretion.

{11} While it is important to remember that this is an extended commitment that you are signing up for, if worse comes to worst and you simply have to quit the game, contact a moderator posthaste so we can discuss the options available. In the event that no satisfactory solution can be identified, you can quit the game and be removed. The moderators will make the decision on how to handle this unexpected event.

Immunity Challenges:

{01} Every round will possess an Immunity Challenge. Winners of the Immunity Challenge will be safe from elimination that round and cannot be voted out at the Tribal Council. The number of Immunity Challenge winners can vary.

{01a} Immunity necklaces MAY be transferred to someone else during Tribal Council. To do so, necklace holders need simply to notify the mods or post publicly in this thread. In either case, players will ALWAYS have a minimum of 24 hours after a necklace is passed to continue to deliberate on their Tribal Council vote. The mods will err on the side of granting more time rather than less where possible. Each immunity necklace can only be passed to someone on the same tribe, and it cannot be refused by the recipient. Immunity necklaces may each only be passed once per round, and if a necklace is passed when more than one tribe is at Tribal Council, only the tribe where a necklace was passed will have the Tribal Council deadline potentially extended.

{02} The outcomes of all Challenges are final. That said, however, be sure to keep Rule 03 of General Rules in mind.

{03} We appreciate the fact that prospective contestants will enter this game with a range of skills. With this in mind, understand that we as mods can't cater to all players' needs, strengths, and time constraints in challenges.

Tribal Council:

{01} Tribal Council is where players are eliminated. Before the merge, generally, only the losing tribe or tribes will visit TC, and will vote one player off. After the merge, all remaining players will go to TC, including immunity challenge winners.

{02} Tribal Councils will last 48 hours from the scheduled end of the challenge. If a player fails to submit a vote within the given time frame, they will receive a selfvote. This vote will be publicly revealed, and the player who failed to submit will receive a strike. In the event that a player knows he or she will be unable to vote by deadline, that player may notify the moderators and cast a conditional vote to avoid penalization. All votes will be submitted in a Private Topic hosted here on Mafiascum.

{03} The results of Tribal Councils may be posted before deadline if and only if all persons involved have submitted a vote. With that in mind, every Tribal Council will last, at a minimum, 24 hours.

{04} The modification of votes after they have been submitted is allowed. Players are able to change their votes as many times as they want until the Tribal Council is posted. However, keep in mind that the Tribal Council may be posted early if all players have voted. Players have the option of submitting conditional votes DURING Tribal Council. These votes must be clearly designated, but are votes that would only take effect once deadline is reached. For example, if, at the beginning of a Tribal Council, I cast a conditional vote for Xofelf, my vote would only be counted as a vote once Tribal Council ends, freeing me up to change my vote if necessary.

{05} The outcomes of Tribal Councils are final.

{06} Questions concerning ties in the Tribal Council may be found below:

Breaking Ties:

I. In the event of an initial tie, a revote shall take place. Contestants may only vote for one of the tied players, and all tied individuals may not vote. Reward items may not be used in this revote, but any reward items that have already been played will remain in play.

II. If a majority (or unique plurality) is not met in the revote, all tied players and immune players become instantly immune and the remaining players will draw rocks for elimination. In a Final 4 Tribal Council, rocks will not be drawn, and the tied players will participate in a tiebreaker challenge.

Twists:

{01} Twists will be implemented without warning or provocation throughout the game. IMPORTANT: The time and setting of each twist has NOT already been fully determined, due to the variable nature of the game. Once the game IS fully designed, however, twists will not be designed so as to give an unfair advantage or disadvantage to any player or group of players.

Application:

ALL RIGHT! You made it to the bottom of this massive post, you're ready to apply!

You can find the application , just make sure that you are familiar with the rules, since you'll be asked to affirm that you read them when you get to the bottom of the application. (/inning in this thread will NOT get you into the game, you MUST fill out the application!)

Dates:

Sign-ups will run starting RIGHT NOW until next Wednesday, at 8pm EST. After this, the moderators will take three days to finish creating the game, before tribes are announced, the cast is released, and the game begins at 8pm EST. Forty-eight hours will be given for the first immunity challenge, to give you time to get to know your tribe and get into the swing of things.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

To answer some questions I've gotten a few different times, yes, this game will accept as many players as apply, no matter how large that game gets. Additionally, the whole game (Tribal Councils and challenges, mainly) will take place right here in this thread.

I have an announcement.

First of all, unless you've been explicitly told otherwise, you are PLAYING if you applied. Wow!

Secondly, this is going to be one of the biggest games of an LSG in recent memory, and I think you will LOVE this cast.

How big is this cast, you may wonder? This game will start...with THIRTY-TWO players.

The full cast will be announced on Saturday, and you'll be divided into your opening tribes! Until then, no pregaming, but be kind.

Now, you're going to have plenty of time to get to know each other. But, first things first, we're going to have an immunity challenge for tribal immunity.

A-Maze-Ing First Challenge, Amirite? (First Immunity Challenge)

Navigating relationships can be confusing, and this first challenge is no exception. Whenever you're ready, you'll go into this Google form. Once you begin, you'll find a link to an image of a maze. The maze will feature two points designated by circles. Your goal is to solve the maze as quickly as possible (simply draw a path through the maze that connects the two points without touching any of the walls). To stop your time, simple give us a link to your finished maze within the same Google Form. The tribe with the fastest AVERAGE time will win immunity.

One important note: If you start the maze, your time will be automatically stopped after 45 minutes--which will be your recorded time. We don't want you to spend too long on this! (Important note, we do NOT expect it to take nearly this long to complete) If your maze is completed with material errors (such as ignoring the barriers altogether and just prancing your way from one point to another), you will receive the time of 45 minutes. If you attempt the maze, but do not submit a link with an image containing your solved maze, you will receive the time of 45 minutes. If you do not start the maze at all, you will have a maximum recorded time of 60 minutes. All times by all players will be revealed at the end of the challenge.

Finally, to complete the challenge, you will be required to enter your "secret number". If you don't know what that is, you should check out the Private Topics forum. You should see a Confessional/Voting Thread with your username on it. You will input this secret number in all challenges, so we can confirm that it is you completing this challenge and not some schemey person who is a LIAR. Do not reveal your secret number to anyone, under any circumstances. If for any reason you find you can't access your confessional, inform a moderator IMMEDIATELY.

You are NOT allowed to share any information about the maze with any member of your tribe, or any other person. While your time will be averaged with your tribemates, you should complete this challenge on your own.

Helpful Tips

You'll need two primary things for this challenge: a way to edit images and a way to turn those images into a "link" when you're done. I typically use Microsoft Paint for a challenge like this, but you're welcome to use whatever you wish to draw on the maze. To turn your newly solved maze into a fun link that we can review, I often use a screenshot capture app like Gyazo. Alternatively, you can use some kind of Snipping Tool on your computer coupled with a site such as imgur. If you have any questions on how to best complete the challenge, feel free to reach out to a moderator. However, your time will not be paused if you reach out DURING a challenge, so connect with us early and often!

Who wins?

The TWO tribes with the fastest average time to solve the maze will win the challenge. That means the two slowest tribes will be attending Tribal Council, and will each vote someone out.

How long do I have?

You MUST have your submissions in by (expired on 2019-11-18 19:00:00). We will tally all submissions and post results shortly after that.

Can I talk to people now?

Yes, you're welcome to start to talk to people on your tribe starting right now! Remember to ONLY discuss the game with people on your tribe. You may use any methods of communication which are mutually amenable to you and the folks you're talking to. To start to facilitate communication, the moderators will, very shortly, set up a topic in the Private Topics forum for your tribe. What happens after that is up to you!

Best of luck.

Speaking of confessionals, obviously there aren't real confessionals. HOWEVER, the mods will act as a go-between betwixt specs and players, posting questions from the specs in confessionals, and confessional quotes from the players will be placed...in our SPECIAL SPEC DISCORD SERVER. Hit me or any of the mods up for the details.

All right, it is time for the results! Let's begin with the BEST six scorers on each tribe.

On The Real, here were the BIG SIX wow:

DeasVail completed the maze in 7:52.

Formerfish completed the maze in 9:42.

Iprobablysuck completed the maze in 7:59.

ScootsBaboo completed the maze in 6:55.

This means that, with six times revealed, The Real's average time was
7:25.

On Theme Was, here were the best six times:

Spoiler:
BROseidon completed the maze in 7:02.

Haschel Cedricson completed the maze in 11:26.

Jamelia completed the maze in 3:39.

McMenno completed the maze in 3:32!

Piggygal completed the maze in 6:43.

Utahstate4lyfe completed the maze in 11:25.

This means that, with six times revealed, Theme Was's average time was
7:17.

On Inside Us, here were the six best times:

Spoiler:
Chemist1422 completed the maze in 12:19.

Het completed the maze in 15:15.

Hiplop completed the maze in 3:21!

NotAJumbleOfNumbers completed the maze in 5:10.

Racefan12 completed the maze in 7:16.

VashtaNeurotic completed the maze in 3:32!

That means, with six times revealed, Inside Us's average time was
7:48.

Finally, on All Along, here were the top six times:

Spoiler:
Creativemod1 completed the maze in 8:03.

Entreri completed the maze in 7:14.

Kaiserjosh completed the maze in 9:28.

6:59.

Now, let's get to our Negative Nellies, the slowest two people on each tribe.

Spoiler: The Real
Lady Lambdadelta completed the maze in 11:19.

Bellaphant completed the maze in 13:44.

The tribe's cumulative average time is...8:42.

Spoiler: Theme Was
Panzerjager completed the maze in 13:16.

The tribe's cumulative average time is...8:57.

Spoiler: Inside Us
Anskyfan completed the maze in 32:07.

Elsa Jay took longer than the default time, and defaulted to 45:00.

The tribe's cumulative average time is 15:30. As their average time is greater than TWO other revealed tribes, they will be going to Tribal Council. That also means that The Real will avoid Tribal Council. But who will join them?

Spoiler: All Along
0verki11 completed the maze in 12:00.

dweller took longer than the default time, and defaulted to 45:00.

The tribe's cumulative average time is 12:24. This means that both Inside Us and All Along will be going to Tribal Council. The Real and Theme Was, you avoid a date with me at Tribal Council, getting a 48 hour reprieve.

Inside Us and All Along, you have just (expired on 2019-11-20 19:00:00) to submit your votes for who you wish to eliminate. A few technical points--while, in general, merged Tribals will take place in this thread, while you are in your own tribes, you will get TCs posted in your own Private Topic.

Also please remember to submit your votes in their own posts in your private topic/confessional.

Best of luck to you all.

All of you have questions posted (by me) in your confessionals now!

Something you should know is that, periodically throughout this game, spectators will be voting for the Sia Fan Favourite Award! How do they get to know you? By any snippets the moderators choose to share! So be spicy, be fun, and be in contention for the Sia Fan Favourite Award!

All right, The Real, Tribe Was, getting your first looks at the Inside Us and All Along tribes. KaiserJosh and NotAJumbleOfNumbers voted out at the first Tribal Councils of the game.

Let's get to Immunity Challenge Two.

For this challenge, you'll have to solve a WORD SEARCH as quickly as possible. However, this is not a typical word search. This word search has SNAKEY WORDS. Let me show you what I mean with a fun sample board.

Image

As you can see, words are found in horizontal or vertical connections like in Boggle (NOT in diagonal connections).

That brings us to this challenge. When you go through this form, you'll be given a link to an image of a word search, as well as a list of words. You'll want to identify all of the words as quickly as possible. Letters are NOT shared between words. Once you find all the words, you'll have some letters left over.
The left over letters must be UNSCRAMBLED to spell out a word
. When you go in the Finishing section (set up the same as the last form), you'll simply need to submit the word. That will then stop your time.

Now,
each tribe member's time will be revealed
, once again. So how will times be scored? If you correctly solve the word, your time will be however long you took to submit. If the word you submit is incorrect, forty-five minutes will be added to however long it took you to submit (total time not to exceed sixty minutes). If you start but do not submit a word, your time will be sixty minutes. Your time will be stopped automatically once you hit sixty minutes. If you do not submit at all, your time will be recorded as ninety minutes. Once again, I do NOT expect you to take this long to complete the challenge.

You are NOT allowed to use outside resources for this challenge. You are NOT allowed to communicate with your fellow tribemates about this challenge.

In this challenge, not co
m
peting will NOT earn you a stri
k
e, since it is not required, however, it may hurt your tribe. You see, your time will be the MEDIAN time of your tribemates. For the seven person tribes (Inside Us and All Along), the fourth best performer's time will be the tribe's performance. For the eight person tribes (The Real and Theme Was), the fourth and fifth best performers' times on your tribe will be averaged to get your tribe's performance.

For this challenge, the fastest tribe will win immunity. And no one else will. Three tribes will go to their own Tribal Councils. Three people will be voted out of this game.

Best of luck to you all. You have until (expired on 2019-11-21 19:00:00) to submit.

Friends, it's time, once again, for the results. The word you were looking for was..."courageous"! Three-fourths of you will need courage as you face Tribal Council tonight.

Let's look first at The Real tribe:

Spoiler: The Real
Bellaphant identified the word in 9:02.

Brom identified the word in 7:16.

Zoraster identified the word in 23:02.

DeasVail identified the word in 6:33.

Lady Lambdadelta identified the word in 25:13.

Iprobablysuck took the full 60:00.

Formerfish identified the word in 10:56.

ScootsBaboo identified the word in 4:34!

The tribe's median time is...9:59.

Let's go to the Theme Was tribe.

Spoiler: Theme Was
Panzerjager took the full 60:00.

Piggygal identified the word in 9:20.

Haschel Cedricson identified the word in 4:35.

McMenno identified the word in 13:13.

Acfan identified the word in 14:29.

Utahstate4lyfe identified the word in 8:21.

BROseidon identified the word in 9:21.

Jamelia identified the word in 7:06.

The tribe's median time is...9:20. That means that The Real will definitely be going to Tribal Council.

Inside Us is up next.

Spoiler:
Elsa Jay took the full 60:00.

Anskyfan20 identified the word in 5:51.

Chemist1422 identified the word in 6:56.

Hiplop identified the word in 7:19.

Vashtaneurotic identified the word in 22:29.

Racefan12 identified the word in 4:15!

Het identified the word in 6:17.

The tribe's median time is Chemist's--6:56. This means that Theme Was and The Real will both be facing their first Tribal Council.

Let's now get to All Along.

Spoiler:
Dweller took the full 60:00.

0verki11 took the full 60:00.

Entreri identified the word in 48:31.

Klick identified the word in 4:14!

Radja identified the word in 4:51.

Panthaleon identified the word in 5:12.

It all comes down to this. If Creativemod1 identified the word in LESS than 6:56, All Along will avoid Tribal Council. If they identified the word in MORE than 6:56, Inside Us will be safe for the first time in this game.

Spoiler:
Creativemod1 identified the word in...

13:00. 13:00 is All Along's median time.

That means Inside Us wins immunity! All other tribes are going to Tribal.

All tribes going to Tribal Council have until (expired on 2019-11-23 19:00:00) to vote someone out of this game.

If you want to get to know your new friends on Discord tonight, some of the moderators of this game, players of this game, and NEW friends are playing The Weakest Link starting at 6 EST tonight. Tonight's Tribal Councils and new challenge will be posted as normal, but you're welcome to join us there and check this game out if you're free. I'll be backup moderating this, but my good friend Malkon will be moderating, and he's devised an experience that I really think folks will enjoy. There is still room to sign up as an alternate if you're wanting to do that, since I think a few people may not be able to show up tonight.

All right, Inside Us, getting your first looks at the new The Real, Theme Was, and All Along tribes. Formerfish, Piggygal, and Dweller voted out at the most recent Tribal Councils.

You've been in these tribes for over a week now, and I think it might be time to change things up.

Drop. Your.

Spoiler:
Expectations. You're in these tribes for the long haul.

Now that you've found out that piece of news, it's time to get to Immunity Challenge Number 3.

This challenge is simple. It's a condensed version of sudoku. Think of it just like regular sudoku--you want all digits in each row and column, with none repeating. However, you'll be doing a variant called "Futoshiki". Basically, this variant features greater than/less than signs that you have to abide by as you fill in the table. This particular puzzle will be a 7x7 grid (and you'll be filling it out with digits from 1-7). ALL you will have to do is figure out the value of one of the cells (which will be highlighted). When you're ready to go, you'll visit this form, and fill it out. Once again, you are looking for ONE NUMBER, which you will put in as you finish.

Here's how the challenge will be scored. If you correctly identify the highlighted digit, your time will be...however long you took to put in the solution. If you start the puzzle but identify the digit incorrectly, your time will be recorded as seventy-five minutes. If you start the puzzle but do not identify a digit, your time will be recorded as seventy-five minutes. If you do not start the puzzle, your time will be recorded as ninety minutes.

When the challenge ends, the BEST two performers and the WORST two performers from each tribe will have their times averaged. Times in between those extremes will not be counted. This average time is what will determine the tribe who wins. The fastest average tribe time will win immunity. For the slowest THREE tribes, it's back to Tribal Council for you.

You are NOT allowed to use outside resources for this challenge. You are NOT allowed to communicate with your fellow tribemates about this challenge.

Best of luck to you all. You have until (expired on 2019-11-24 19:00:00) to submit.

A few of you have asked about how the schedule will look different in the week ahead with American Thanksgiving happening.

This challenge will end tonight, you'll get the standard 48 hours for Tribal Council (ending Tuesday night). Then, to account for Thanksgiving, you'll get 48 hours for the following challenge (ending Thursday night), and the standard 48 hours for the following Tribal Council (ending Saturday night). The schedule will go back to normal after this.

It's time for the challenge results!

I have a fun mnemonic to remember the answer to this one. The answer is "1", just like only one tribe will be safe tonight! Let's find out who it is.

Spoiler: The Real
ScootsBaboo completed the challenge in...3:54.

DeasVail completed the challenge in...5:01.

Brom completed the challenge in...3:23!

Bellaphant completed the challenge in 30:22.

Zoraster completed the challenge in 25:09.

Lady Lambdadelta completed the challenge in 9:04.

Iprobablysuck completed the challenge in 18:45.

When the relevant times are averaged, they total...15:42. Will this be strong enough to last?

Spoiler: Theme Was
Haschel Cedricson completed the challenge in 2:49!

Jamelia completed the challenge in 10:36.

Utahstate4lyfe completed the challenge in 6:04.

BROseidon completed the challenge in 4:57.

McMenno completed the challenge in 3:45.

Acfan took the full 1:15:00.

Panzerjager...took the same 1:15:00.

That makes the average relevant time for this tribe...39:08. Theme Was will be going to Tribal Council.

Spoiler: Inside Us
Hiplop completed the challenge in 31:34.

Racefan12 completed the challenge in 12:37.

Anskyfan20 completed the challenge in 4:16.

Het completed the challenge in 20:49.

Chemist1422 completed the challenge in 2:33!

VashtaNeurotic completed the challenge in 7:10.

Elsa Jay took the full 1:15:00.

That makes the average relevant time for this tribe...28:21. Inside Us will be going to their second Tribal Council.

Spoiler: All Along
CreativeMod1 completed the challenge in 9:44.

Overkill completed the challenge in 6:59.

Entreri completed the challenge in 10:07.

Radja completed the challenge in 7:41.

Panthaleon completed the challenge in 8:14.

It all comes down to this. Klick is the last person to be revealed. A decent time could win All Along immunity for the first time this game, sending The Real to Tribal Council. A bad time will condemn them to their third Tribal Council.

Klick completed the challenge in...

Spoiler:
Klick actually took the full 1:15:00 making their average time 24:57. That means Theme Was, Inside Us, and All Along are each going to Tribal. And The Real has won immunity!

Tribes going to Tribal Council have until (expired on 2019-11-26 19:00:00) to vote. See you soon.

Let's get back to it. Acfan, Racefan12, and Creativemod1 were voted out in the last Tribal Councils.

For real this time...drop your buffs. We are switching things up.

You are going from four tribes...to three. Three tribes of eight are in your future. Here they are:

Spoiler: Splendiferous
Chemist1422
Bellaphant
Hiplop
utahstate4lyfe
Radja
BROseidon
Panthaleon
Haschel Cedricson

Spoiler: Fantasmic
McMenno
Lady LambdaDelta
Panzer
het
Entreri
Klick
Iprobablysuck
Brom

Spoiler: Harmoniable
ScootsBaboo
Zoraster
Overkill
DeasVail
Jamelia
VashtaNeurotic
Elsa Jay
anskyfan20

A few clarifications before we get to the next challenge:

You ARE allowed to make groupchats in this game. You ARE also allowed to communicate however you wish, including voice/videocalling, etc. However, any groupchats you may have made before this post are hereby dissolved, you may not talk game with ANYONE who is not on your new tribe. In addition, I want to take this time to remind you that copying and pasting message logs you have with someone else to a message with a different person, or screenshotting those logs and sharing them, is strictly prohibited. As always, if you have any questions, please let me know.

Immunity Challenge 4

For this challenge, you'll be tasked with doing something online. The task will take as long as you wish--in some ways, it is an endurance challenge. However, you will likely do more than adequately spending less than an hour (conservatively) on it.

You will be told how the challenge will be scored within the challenge itself. Failure to start the challenge at all will hurt your tribe in a predetermined negative way. Starting the challenge and failing to complete it will, like in other challenges, hurt your tribe in a less severe predetermined negative way.

I should point out, before you get the link, that you will be best served by using a laptop or desktop computer to complete this challenge. You will also need access to a way to convert images to links.

You are not allowed to discuss the challenge at all with anyone on your tribe (or off of it, you sneaky people!).

I wish you the best of luck, and here is the form to start the challenge. You have until (expired on 2019-11-28 19:00:00) to FINISH the challenge.

It's time for the first results for these three tribes!

Let's talk about penalties--anyone who did not start the challenge will be given a score of negative ten points, bringing down their tribe's average. Anyone who started the challenge but did not submit will be given a score of zero.

Spoiler: Fantasmic Tribe
Brom submitted a score of 52 points.

Iprobablysuck submitted a score of 100 points!

Lady LambdaDelta submitted a score of 55 points.

Panzerjager submitted a score of 52 points.

McMenno submitted a score of 100 points!

het submitted a score of 21 points.

Entreri submitted a score of 54 points.

Klick submitted a score of 108 points!

The tribe average, accordingly, is 67.75 points--a respectable score. Let's see if it holds up.

Spoiler: Harmoniable
Zoraster submitted a score of 100 points!

DeasVail submitted a score of 100 points!

ScootsBaboo submitted a score of 51 points.

Jamelia submitted a score of 100 points!

anskyfan20 submitted a score of 5 points.

Elsa Jay started the challenge, but did not submit, earning a score of 0 points.

VashtaNeurotic submitted a score of 100 points!

0verki11 submitted a score of 70 points.

This means their average score is 65.75 points--unfortunately, not enough to protect them from Tribal Council.

Spoiler: Splendiferous
Bellaphant submitted a score of 12 points.

BROseidon submitted a score of 11 points.

Haschel Cedricson submitted a score of 100 points!

utahstate4lyfe submitted a score of 100 points!

Chemist1422 submitted a score of 58 points.

Hiplop submitted a score of 100 points!

Panthaleon submitted a score of 100 points!

Radja submitted a score of 36 points.

The tribe's average score was...64.625 points, not quite enough to beat Fantasmic. That means that Fantasmic is not going to Tribal Council, but Harmoniable and Splendiferous will each be voting someone out of this game.

Tribes going to Tribal Council will have until (expired on 2019-11-30 19:00:00) to vote someone out of this game.

Entreri finished in 13:26.

Het finished in 17:11.

Iprobablysuck and Lady Lambdadelta both received times of 60:00.

Spoiler: Harmoniable
Jamelia finished in 8:39!

Zoraster finished in 10:26.

ScootsBaboo finished in 10:43.

VashtaNeurotic finished in 12:48.

DeasVail finished in 14:32.

Anskyfan20 and 0verki11 voth received times of 60:00.

The tribe's average, then, was 38:02. Harmoniable will be going to their second Tribal Council.

Spoiler: Splendiferous
Panthaleon, Radja, and Haschel Cedricson all received times of 60:00.

Bellaphant finished in 36:45.

BROseidon finished in 33:00.

Utahstate4lyfe finished in 44:22.

Only hiplop's time is left.

Spoiler:
Hiplop finished in...10:49. That means the tribe's average is 31:00, and Splendiferous avoids Tribal Council. Fantasmic, Harmoniable, you're each voting someone out.

Immunity Challenge Six

For this challenge, you'll be tasked with doing something online. The task will take as long as you wish. I would expect this to take less time than your last online task.

You will be told how the challenge will be scored within the challenge itself. Failure to start the challenge at all will hurt your tribe in a predetermined negative way. Starting the challenge and failing to complete it will, like in other challenges, hurt your tribe in a less severe predetermined negative way. However, I will urge you to start the challenge.

Using a laptop/desktop computer is not required with this challenge, but may help with speed. And you never know when the tools you've acquired and used up to this point will come in handy.

You are not allowed to discuss the challenge whatsoever until after the challenge results are revealed.

I wish you the best of luck, and here is the form to start the challenge. You have until (expired on 2019-12-05 19:00:00) to FINISH the challenge. (An extension is given for you to get to know your new friends.)

Wow, wasn't that fun?! Utahstate4lyfe, voted out at the last Tribal Council.

After a fun Tribal Council, it's time to change things up.

Drop. Your. Buffs. We are switching tribes.

Here are the new tribes!

Spoiler: Matsing Tribe

Zoraster
0verki11
Haschel Cedricson

Spoiler: Ulong Tribe

Brom
Radja

Hiplop

Spoiler: Lesu Tribe
Entreri
BROseidon
Bellaphant
ScootsBaboo
Panthaleon

Let's get to the next challenge!

Immunity Challenge Eight

This is a very fun challenge all about anagrams. Whenever you choose, you'll go to this form. You'll get a link to a picture displaying a number of anagrams. Each anagram should be unscrambled to form a word.

Now, here's where it gets tricky. To stop your time, simply take the FIRST LETTERS of each unscrambled word. Those letters will themselves make an anagram which should be unscrambled. Your goal is to find that final unscrambled word as quickly as possible.

Here's how scoring will work--If you submit the correct unscrambled word, your time will be however long you took to solve it. If you start but do not submit, or start and submit the wrong word, your time will be recorded as sixty minutes. If you do not start, your time will be recorded as seventy-five minutes.
For this challenge, your fastest and slowest performers will be averaged. The TWO tribes with the fastest average time will win immunity, sending one tribe to Tribal Council.

You are not allowed to use outside resources for this challenge. You are not allowed to discuss this challenge with your tribemates. However, since it's December 10, I'm giving you a special treat--you have (expired on 2019-12-12 19:00:00) to submit.

Obviously, don't talk to members of your old tribe any longer.

This thread continues to be a place where tribes can interact during, before, and after challenges. That includes discussing "game" to the extent that players wish. With that in mind, keep the following guidelines in mind:

I'm going to both urge and expect you NOT to create or use codes or secret definitions for the explicit purpose of communicating in this public thread, as that goes against the spirit of what we're allowing here.

If you are voted out, you should not discuss the game with anyone. That includes both private messages and this thread.

Recall that there are rules against quoting messages/message logs at all during this game, and that rule applies here as well.

Let's get back to it. Overkill voted out at the last Tribal Council.

Immunity Challenge 9

We've mixed things up quite a bit already, now you're going to get a mixed up picture to solve. When you choose, you're going to go into this form. There, you'll get a link to a slide puzzle. Solve the puzzle as quickly as possible. When you're done, you'll be asked to submit a link to a screenshot. The screenshot must show the message you get upon solving the puzzle, as well as an open Mafiascum tab.

The scoring for this one is pretty simple. If you complete the challenge successfully, you record the time you took to submit the screenshot. If it takes you longer than sixty minutes, or you start but do not finish, you'll record a time of sixty minutes. If you do not start, you record a time of seventy-five minutes.

The TWO tribes with the fastest AVERAGE times among all tribe members will win immunity. That means one tribe will go to Tribal Council.

As always, I wish you luck, and discussion of this challenge with your tribemates, as well as the use of outside resources, is not allowed.. You have (expired on 2019-12-15 19:00:00) to FINISH the challenge.

We're creating and finalizing our holiday schedule. In general, I'd expect to see an extra day or two tacked onto deadlines starting soon through the new year. If you have any specific holiday plans coming up, just let us know and we'll be happy to accommodate them to the extent that we can.

Nothing changes about the current deadline, to be clear.

{01} This is a game. The main objective is to have fun; so no excessive flaming, spamming, or otherwise being a jerk.
No one has violated this rule as of yet, but be careful to stay on the right side of it, friends. The game (and it IS, ultimately, just a game) continues.

We've had a good time in the Matsing, Lesu, and Ulong tribes, haven't we? Lady LambdaDelta voted out at the last Tribal Council.

Drop. Your. Buffs. Once again, we're changing things up in a big way!

First things first, here are your new tribes.

Spoiler: Yanny Tribe
Bellaphant
DeasVail
McMenno
Panthaleon
Panzerjager
Brom
het
ScootsBaboo

Spoiler: Laurel Tribe
Radja
VashtaNeurotic
Jamelia
Haschel Cedricson
Entreri
Zoraster
BROseidon
Hiplop

I hope you enjoy getting to know your new (and old) friends!

Now, let's get to the next immunity challenge...and
pay very special attention this round. We are shaking things up like never before.

To start off, BOTH tribes are going to Tribal Council right now, while the Tribal immunity challenge is going on.

I need all members of both tribes to cast their votes for Tribal Council in the next (expired on 2019-12-20 19:00:00).

Now, here's the Tribal immunity challenge. The goal is very simple--you want to find the word that I give you. All of the letters in that word will be in a grid, connected by lines. However, there will be only one series of connections you can make to spell out the given word from beginning to end. Let me give you an example. Let's say the word is one of our favourites from this game: "Lyricism". You would search the grid for the one series of connections which fully spells that word, like so:

Image

Obviously, your grid may be different in size, and your chosen word will certainly be different. Regardless, you want to find the word, and designate to us that you found it. You can circle the letters, highlight them, cross them out, something to definitively demonstrate that you found the word. No matter which method you use, it must ONLY include the letters in the word, nothing else. Submit that image in the "Finishing" section to stop your time.

Now, I've said a few times that this is for TRIBAL immunity. Here is how this challenge will be scored--if you complete the challenge successfully, your time will be the amount of time it took you to find the word. If you start but complete it incorrectly, or do not finish at all, your time will be a default of sixty minutes. If you do not start the challenge, your time will be seventy-five minutes.

Both tribes' Tribal Council votes will play out right here in this thread. Then, and only then, will the results of the challenge be revealed.
The two people who are voted out of their respective tribes will have their times in the challenge revealed. The faster time will retroactively win immunity for their tribe, and that person will NOT be eliminated. The slower time will go home. No other times will be revealed from this challenge, except in the unlikely event of a tie for times. If there is a tie, we will go to head-to-head rankings, starting with the slowest times. So the slowest time on each tribe will be revealed, if one time is faster than the other, that tribe will win immunity, if there continues to be a tie, we'll reveal the next two slowest times, and so on, until the tie is broken. Notably--if there is a tie in the challenge, the only person who can go home will still be one of the two people voted out at Tribal Council, regardless of how the tie is broken.

Your time to FINISH the challenge is the same as the time to vote in your Tribal Council: (expired on 2019-12-20 19:00:00). You may start the challenge by using this form. As always, outside resources are not allowed, and neither is discussion of the specifics of the challenge with your tribemates.

Good luck, and if you have any questions at all or comments/feedback about this special round, let us know immediately.

To be clear, these two Tribal Councils will take place as normal. Idols (if they exist) can nullify votes, extra votes and vote steals (if they exist) can be played, and, to the extent they exist, idol nullifiers, if their submission occurs before the TC deadline, would still be valid. Any other items have had their applicability or lack thereof confirmed with players that hold them, if appropriate. There are preestablished procedures for handling one or more Tribal Council ties which will not be detailed here, but you should expect the regular Tribal Council rules to generally apply.

I have the results. This was a tough challenge for everyone. It's the first challenge yet with NO times below ten minutes. This is NOT the most difficult challenge you'll face in this game, just a heads-up. For now, here's the results.

The string you were looking for was "OXOXOOX".

Spoiler: Yanny Tribe
McMenno and Panthaleon both received times of 75:00.

Brom completed the challenge in 17:44!

Panzerjager completed the challenge in 15:55!

ScootsBaboo completed the challenge in 19:14!

Bellaphant completed the challenge in 23:16.

DeasVail completed the challenge in 20:26.

Het completed the challenge in 48:07.

The median time, then, was 21:51.

Spoiler: Laurel Tribe
Zoraster completed the challenge in 27:32.

VashtaNeurotic completed the challenge in 22:36.

Spoiler:
Jamelia, Entreri, Radja, and Hiplop all received times of 75:00. Haschel did not start the challenge, and earned a time of 90:00.

It's the worst performance by a group of individuals yet in this game...and we're more than halfway done. With a median time of 75:00, almost the worst possible performance in this challenge, Laurel is heading BACK to Tribal Council.

Losing tribe, you have THREE DAYS, until (expired on 2019-12-25 19:00:00) to submit your votes. Yanny tribe, take a well-deserved three days off.

To all of you, happy holidays from the moderators, and may your coming days be blessed with pleasant times with family and friends amidst the backstabbing and paranoia this game has to offer.

It's Christmas Day here, and the game continues. Hiplop voted out at the Laurel Tribal Council.

It's Christmas, and I want to grant you a bit of reprieve. I'm sure you're tired of spending the last week or so with the same group of people.

That's why it's time...to drop your buffs. We're switching tribes yet again.

Spoiler: Merry Christmas Tribe
Jamelia
Entreri
Brom
DeasVail
Zoraster
ScootsBaboo
Panthaleon

Spoiler: Happy New Year Tribe
Panzerjager
Haschel Cedricson
het
McMenno
VashtaNeurotic
Radja
Bellaphant

And along with new tribes...comes a new challenge.

Immunity Challenge 12.

It's one of the most simple challenges this game--just solve a jigsaw puzzle as quickly as possible. After you solve the puzzle provided in the form, you'll need to submit a link to a screenshot containing all of the following: 1. The finished puzzle, 2. The number of pieces in the puzzle, 3. An open Mafiascum tab. A submission lacking any of these elements can be disqualified.

Submit your screenshot, and you'll receive the time it took for you to submit it. Submit an incorrect screenshot, or start the challenge but fail to submit a screenshot, and you'll receive a time of sixty minutes. Fail to start the challenge, and you'll receive a time of seventy-five minutes. The tribe with the fastest AVERAGE time will win immunity. As always, the use of outside resources or discussing the challenge with your tribemates is not allowed.

You can go to this form to start your puzzle. In honour of Christmas, you get three full days to complete this challenge, until (expired on 2019-12-28 19:00:00). I look forward to any feedback you may have.

Welcome to the new year, friends. You know what they say--New Year, New Immunity.

Immunity Challenge 13

For this challenge, you'll be tasked with doing something online. The task will take as long as you wish--in some ways, it is an endurance challenge. While you will be benefited by starting as early as you can, you likely won't need to spend longer than an hour or so on this challenge.

You will be told how the challenge will be scored within the challenge itself. Failure to start the challenge at all, or starting and not submitting, will each have their own predetermined consequences.

I should point out, before you get the link, that you will be best served by using a laptop or desktop computer to complete this challenge. You will also need access to a way to convert images to links.

You are not allowed to discuss the challenge at all with anyone on your tribe. However, additional information, related to the mechanics of the challenge, is available in the form. You ARE allowed to discuss this information. (Any questions on what you can and can't discuss should be referred to the moderators)

I wish you the best of luck, and here is the form to start the challenge. You have until (expired on 2020-01-03 19:00:00) to FINISH the challenge.

We are now at a point in the game where individual immunity necklaces may begin to become more common. To be clear:

Immunity necklaces MAY be transferred to someone else during Tribal Council.

The first post's rules will be updated to include this clarification.

I have an exciting announcement. Brom and Panzerjager voted out at the last Tribal Councils.

For the last time, friends, drop your buffs. As some of you have surmised...we are MERGED.

Spoiler: The Real Merge Tribe Was Inside Us All Along
McMenno
Bellaphant
het
VashtaNeurotic
Haschel Cedricson
Radja
ScootsBaboo
DeasVail
Entreri
Zoraster
Jamelia

Immunity Challenge 14

For the first merged immunity challenge, you'll be playing with water! Here's how it works. Your goal is to fill water in some parts of a grid. Numbers surrounding the grid will tell you how many cells of various rows and columns must be filled with water. The grid will look something like this:

Image

As you can see, connected areas of FILLED cells must have the same level of water everywhere. You can think of it as a series of tubes.

For this challenge, you'll be given an unsolved grid. The grid will have three features--numbers outside the grid (like you see in the sample puzzle), some spaces which are already filled with water, to help you out, and some spaces with numbers in them. You'll be tasked with figuring out, among the spaces with numbers, which will be filled with water in the solved puzzle, and which won't. You'll submit this result as a string of characters, like the X's and O's challenge, with "W" representing a space with water in it, and "N" representing a space that doesn't.

While all times will be revealed, it's an individual game now. The fastest correct answer will win immunity. Not starting will get you a result of "Did not submit". Starting and not finishing or starting and giving the wrong answer will give you a result of "Did not complete".

Access this form to begin. You must FINISH the challenge by (expired on 2020-01-06 19:00:00). Best of luck.

The first picture is the unsolved puzzle while the second picture is the solved puzzle.

The main thing to keep in mind is that a number of spaces will already be filled in, you know how many spaces need to be filled in on most of the columns and rows based on the numbers provided, and connected areas within the grid must have the same level of filled spaces.

The first victim of the merge has been decided, but this game moves on.

Immunity Challenge 15

In this challenge, you will simply need to solve a cryptogram as quickly as possible. What's a cryptogram, you ask? Well, here's an example.

Image

Each number corresponds with a particular letter in the puzzle. If you continue solving this puzzle, for example, you'd find that the numbers here correspond to the phrase "Reward with all the fixin's".

You'll be tasked to simply solve a phrase as quickly as possible. You'll have some letters given to you already, and from there, you're on your own. The player who correctly solves the phrase (spelling counts! punctuation doesn't) in the fastest time will win immunity. All times, again, will be revealed, with incorrect answers or starting and failing to submit noted by "Did not complete" and a failure to start the challenge noted by "Did not submit".

Here is the form to start this challenge. You have until (expired on 2020-01-10 19:00:00) to submit. Good luck!

For the final nine, it's time for a challenge that may look familiar to you. You're going to get two links--one to a YouTube video, and one to a screenshot from that video. Your task is incredibly simple--identify the exact second from the video that the screenshot comes from. While no outside resources can be used for this challenge, I'll urge you to take your time--figure out approximately where in the video the image is from, and use the whole frame to identify the exact frame, and therefore, the exact second in question.

The person who correctly identifies the exact second and submits it in the fastest time will win immunity. Crucially, if NO ONE identifies the exact second, no one will win immunity. All times, again, will be revealed, with incorrect answers or starting and failing to submit noted by "Did not complete" and a failure to start the challenge noted by "Did not submit".

I wish you the best of luck. Here is the link to the form to begin. You have until (expired on 2020-01-13 19:00:00) to FINISH this challenge.

A unanimous vote on a merge vote? Maybe things are getting too settled. Maybe it's time...to change things up.

Immunity Challenge 17

This challenge is very fun. You're going to get a square or rectangular grid that's divided into regions of different sizes. Some will have numbers between 1 and 4. Your goal is to continue placing a number between one and four in every region. However, no two regions that touch (including diagonally!) can share the same digit. Your goal is to solve this puzzle as quickly as possible. When you solve the puzzle, you'll be asked a question about it. If you answer that question correctly, you're done!

Your goal is to answer this question in the fastest time. And for this challenge, the stakes are even higher. You see, the TWO people who answer the question correctly in the fastest time will win immunity. Thereafter, we will go to TWO back-to-back Tribal Councils, and the people who win immunity will be immune at both. If only one person answers the question correctly, that person will be immune through both Tribal Councils. If no one answers the question correctly, no one will be immune at both Tribal Councils. Nonsubmissions and incorrect submissions will be handled the same way they have been throughout this merge.

You will go to this form to complete the puzzle. You have an EXTRA HOUR for this challenge because of my inexcusable delay, until (expired on 2020-01-16 20:00:00), but if everyone has completed the challenge by the normal deadline, an hour before, I will post results early.

Best of luck.

Spoiler:
Entreri. Entreri, you become the next member of the jury. The tribe has spoken.

The next juror is decided, but...it's been awhile since we had a new immunity winner. Radja, Scoots, I'm taking the necklaces back, because immunity is back up for grabs.

Immunity Challenge 18

This challenge is a throwback to immunity challenges in some of our favourite MS nonanonymous games. It's called a coin game.

For each of several rounds, you will pick a number of coins to gather, between 1 and the highest number designated for the round. In each round, you will gather the number of coins you select, with a few exceptions--if you submit the highest unique number in a round, you collect zero coins. If you submit the same number of coins as anyone else, you collect zero coins (for that submission). For rounds with multiple submissions, submitting the same number as anyone else only invalidates that submission.

This will happen in TWO 24 hour sets of rounds. You'll submit in your CONFESSIONAL how many coins you want to take in each round. The next set of round requirements will only be revealed after the first results are revealed. The person who collects the most coins after the two rounds will win immunity, and a guaranteed 1-in-5 shot at winning this game.

Let me give an example of how the rounds will work, then I'll reveal what each of this first set of rounds will have in store.

Let's say that you're tasked with picking a number of coins between 1 and 50.

Acfan picks 39
Brom picks 31
Creativemod1 picks 39
Dweller picks 35
Entreri picks 32
Formerfish picks 34.

At the end of round 1, Acfan and Creativemod1 picked the same number, so they collect no coins this round. With the highest unique number of coins, Dweller also collects no coins.

That would make the score as follows:

Formerfish: 34
Entreri: 32
Brom: 31
Acfan: 0
Creativemod1: 0
Dweller: 0

To account for the event of a tie, I will invite you to answer a tiebreaker question during the second round. The closest without going over, in the event of a tie, would win immunity.

For now though, here's the rounds you're doing this time:

Round 1: Submit one number between 1 and 50.
Round 2: Submit one number between 1 and 60.
Round 3: Submit one number between 1 and 55.
Round 4: Submit TWO numbers between 1 and 75.

You may NOT discuss your submissions with any other players.
You have until (expired on 2020-01-21 20:00:00) to submit for this round. Importantly, if results are in early, we will post them an hour early. Otherwise, you will only have TWENTY-THREE hours to submit for the following round (to get us back on a normal schedule).

Let us know if you have any questions.

Players,

I have an announcement to make regarding the scoring for the last round.

By-and-large, after talking to you individually or hearing from you independently, we've come to the understanding that the challenge rules were not appropriately worded originally. They had the potential to give the impression that someone who submitted the highest number in a round with multiple submissions would only have that highest number invalidated, rather than the whole round. That's entirely my fault. To rectify that, Bella is being credited with the 67 points she would have gotten if the round had worked the way players tended to believe it would.

This changes the scoring for the round as follows:

Bellaphant 67
het 60
Radja 59
ScootsBaboo 0
DeasVail 0
Zoraster 113

It changes the total as follows:

Bellaphant 186
het 60
Radja 178
ScootsBaboo 113
DeasVail 109
Zoraster 204

These total results may have changed your submissions for the current round, so, to respect that, you will be given another 24 hours to complete your round submission. I apologize for not informing you of this earlier--timezones and work schedules complicated things today for me.

You have until (expired on 2020-01-23 19:00:00) to either submit your choices again or change your submission. To be clear, the ruling we are going with for the SECOND set of submissions is that the highest unique number in each round will collect ZERO points for the round, regardless of their other submissions. I encourage you to let me know if you have any questions.

As you know, we are approaching the end of idols in this game.

Did anyone play a hidden immunity idol?

Spoiler:
No, no one played a hidden immunity idol.

All right. Once the votes are read, the decision is final. I'll read the votes.

Spoiler:
Radja, the tribe has spoken. Radja becomes the sixth member of the jury.

Multiple jurors still need to be placed on the jury, and we have no time to waste.

Immunity Challenge 19

This is simultaneously a simple challenge to get you to the Final Four, and may be one of the top twenty toughest challenges you encounter in this game. We're hurtling to the end, and I can't let you leave without letting you do...another logic puzzle.

Here's how it works.

Image

Your goal is to blacken some cells of a given grid, following certain rules:

1. The black cells must form "dominoes"--sets of two cells connected horizontally or vertically. Each domino will touch at least one other domino diagonally, as noted above.
2. Cells with letters will always be white.
3. The black cells will divide the grid into regions of white cells.
4. Cells with the same letter belong to the same white region--and only that region. Different letters will not coexist in the same white region.
5. White regions without a cell with a letter are not allowed.

You're going to need your image editor again, because this challenge simply requires you to mark those cells which should be marked with "dominoes". Submit a link to your completed puzzle to stop your time. If you're the fastest to correctly solve, congratulations--you win immunity, and will be one of FOUR who have a shot to win this game. If no one correctly solves, no one will be safe at the Final Five Tribal Council.

You'll use this form to start the puzzle. The final gauntlet of challenges is here. It's up to you to finish them. As always, the use of outside resources to solve the puzzle is not allowed.

You have until (expired on 2020-01-27 19:00:00) to complete this challenge.

I have the results.

It wasn't close. One person completed the challenge successfully.

With a time of 29:31, ScootsBaboo has immunity.

Scoots has a 1/4 shot of winning this game. One of you is seeing your chance cut short. You have until (expired on 2020-01-29 19:00:00) to begin.

If anybody has a hidden immunity idol and would like to play it, tonight is the last night you may do so.

Spoiler:
No one plays a hidden immunity idol.

I'll read the votes.

Spoiler:
Het

Spoiler:
DeasVail

Spoiler:
Het

Spoiler:
Het, the tribe has spoken. You're the penultimate juror.

It's time for your Final Immunity Challenge.

Immunity Challenge 20

This challenge, in addition to being the last one, will test your ability to do a series of things online. This gauntlet will test a lot of the skills you've gained this game.

There is an element of time to this challenge. There is a heavy element of accuracy to this challenge. And in the end, only one of you will win the guaranteed chance to plead your case to the jury. Someone else will be voted out.

Speaking of pleading your case to the jury, here's how that will work. After this challenge and Tribal Council, you will get 24 hours. By the end of that time, you will need to submit your opening statement. Once the opening statements are posted, the jury will get to ask questions in this thread for 48 hours. In addition to answering questions during this time, you will have an additional 24 hours to clear things up, and submit your closing statements. Following that, the jury will have 24 hours to cast their votes for who should win Survivor: The Real Theme Was Inside Us All Along.

But that's all in the future. That has yet to be earned. So let's get to it. Your final challenge starts whenever you want to through this form, but you must finish within the next (expired on 2020-01-30 19:00:00).

There are only three more times we'll be revealing unknown outcomes in this game, each more important than the last. For one of you, you've just won the chance to plead your case to the jury of folks you've had a hand in eliminating. In a few days, one final person will have come so close to the end of this game, but see their chances cut short...

But never mind that, let's get to it.

Let's first reveal the times for this challenge. Who took awhile to think, and who sped through this?

Spoiler: ScootsBaboo
57:22

Spoiler: DeasVail
1:07:21

Spoiler: Zoraster
45:21

Spoiler: Bellaphant
58:13

Now, it's time to reveal how many points you accrued. Remember, you get one point per question answered correctly, but lose one quarter point per question answered incorrectly.

Spoiler: ScootsBaboo
15.25

Spoiler: DeasVail
19.25

Spoiler: Zoraster
18.75

Spoiler: Bellaphant
19.75

Spoiler: Final Results
With that...Bella! Wins immunity! Wins a spot in the Final Three! For one of you, you're about to be eliminated a hairsbreadth from the Final Three in a 32 player game. I wish you luck.

You have until (expired on 2020-02-01 19:00:00) to cast your votes. For three of you, it will be the last vote you cast this game. For one of you, you'll still get to cast a vote from the jury.

Good luck.

It's time to come to a close.

DeasVail.

DeasVail.

DeasVail, with two votes, you become the twenty-ninth person voted out of this game. You're the final member of the jury.

A jury which has been eagerly awaiting their time to shine.

Bellaphant, ScootsBaboo, Zoraster. The three of you have gone as far as you can possibly go in a grueling three month ordeal. Now, the power shifts to the jury. You have 24 hours to finish crafting an opening statement, then questioning will begin tomorrow at this time.

Post them in your confessionals, and clearly mark your final submissions. The end is here, and you may find that this game...has just gotten started.

As always, best of luck.

Let's get to it. I've randomized the order of the opening statements. First, I'll post Bellaphant's, then ScootsBaboo's, then Zoraster's. Once Zoraster's speech is posted, jurors, feel free to question the players to your heart's content, right here in this thread.

Social

I came into this game with one goal: tell the truth and be nice to people. As much as is possible in a large social game that’s based on making friends, working together and then slowly eliminating them, I feel pleased that I’ve achieved that.

First impressions are important: although I’m not sure the alliance suggested by Zor (him and the three most social people on our starting tribe) in the early days of the game was ever imagined by anyone to lead here, I knew I had one thing on my side - my social skills. I used these to create important relationships early on that would be beneficial to me later, specifically in DV, Scoots, Brom and Zor. Later, the tribe swaps led me to Pants, Vash and Het.

Due to the way the game and challenges were structured, I made it to the tribe before merge without too much drama (and only two tcs that ended up in an elimination!). I was able to work on deepening the bonds I had, from looking at Scoots’ improv group to sharing baby pics. However, I didn’t sit idle during this time: I was watching, planning. I’d seen Pants try to push an agenda against what should have been an ally in the Brom vote and get eliminated for it, I’d watched Kilby cause drama and suspicion, I’d watched (and heard about) Haschel and Zor making waves. And I’d heard, endlessly, about the cabal, about the clique. This thing I didn’t even know existed until Entreri and Bro came and told me I was leading it. With my grand total two TCs. It was frustrating, it was upsetting (I hated passionately the idea that other people would be targeted because of a perceived relationship with me), but it was also enlightening: my name, whether rightly or not, meant something. And it meant I had to be careful.

One of the biggest criticisms that can be levelled at my game is, ‘What did she do? What did she do apart from be Bella?’ And my response is twofold: firstly, what could I do? If I pushed, if I made waves, my threat level goes from theoretical to literal. Second, ‘be Bella’ is exactly what I’m good at: making relationships, getting people to care about me, but also at getting what I want slowly, and carefully.

Strategic

For me, strategy only really kicked off in the merge. Before that, my aim was to get there with relationships, and with options. But I also came in with people who, for one reason or another, didn’t want me to progress. The initial merge dynamic looks, from the outside, like it was easy for me: an alliance with Vash, Het and Haschel, three people from my starting tribe, etc, but it didn’t feel that way. There were less places to hide and I felt a lot of tension. I didn’t feel like I was in many people’s endgame plans. Some people were clear about it - Menno, especially, I felt would keep voting for me ‘til I was gone - but some relationships made me feel shaky. The two people it felt the most natural to work with, with my pre-game relationships, Haschel and Radja, started behaving in ways that made me anxious.

I looked elsewhere for those bonds and found them in people like Zor, who I’d not spoken to since our first tribe, in Het, Vash, people whose goals aligned with mine. They were also, for the first few rounds, people I could let take the limelight while we voted out people that were bad for my game. It proved to be the correct strategy when DK came to me to say my name was ‘leading their vote’, when I had deliberately been a follower that round. The conversation that followed was massively important to me, personally - I also want you to know I kept my promise there. This vote also confirmed to me that what people said about you was vitally important - sometimes perception is reality.

The Haschel and Radja votes were (almost) the most difficult for me emotionally, but totally the thing my game needed. However, they were also votes I feel the most responsible for - I didn’t scream and shout, I didn’t cause a wave that would wipe me out, I started quiet and socially, planting the seeds of my frustrations and confusions with their decisions rounds before the votes happened. I took a lot of risks being honest with people this game, but it also meant that people knew where I stood, consistently.

Which is also why the Vash vote was hard. I reacted the way people thought I would - emotionally. And the game nearly changed here: I was so frustrated with the way the round went down that I voted for Ent, knowing it would change nothing, but unable to vote ‘correctly’ for my friend. I was tempted here, so so tempted to blow up my own game: to target Zor and Het (who I felt had let me down, when in hindsight the blame lay with Radja), but that left me in a much more vulnerable place. However, by being upfront, but also by keeping a careful eye on the game, I came out of that round in a better place, with an f4 deal that, although didn’t come to fruition, took me to f5. It also took me to a place where I cemented my relationship with DV - truly, the nicer version of me.

From there, I got an endgame I wanted - a bigger strategic threat in Het, a bigger social threat in DV, an f2 with Zor, and Scoots, who’s day one bond with me kept me going in the moments the game was tough. I also navigated the FTC I wanted, which I’m personally really proud of. Throughout the game I did what I set out to do and it got me exactly where I needed to be.

Structural

….

Only joking, guys (sorry, Het, DK, Scoots, it’s a meme, blame Haschel). It’s more social.

(Although, my totally average challenge performances worked with the structure of the game to avoid most TCs, I managed the ‘push the button’ situation by having my whole tribe tell me whether they did the challenge or not (and Scoots giving me a fairly large clue to the location of the idol), and I won two immunity challenges in the merge!! (That means a lot to me. Especially as at least three of the other challenges made me cry with how annoyed I was at being useless!)

Socially, the game has been massively important to me: it’s been a year of growing and then having a baby, of my mum spending the first six months of Micah’s life in a cancer ward, of me disconnecting from a lot of the things I used to do. Having an opportunity to socialise, to use my brain, to engage with something at 3am while feeding a baby has meant the world to me.

It also was massively important to me to do the social things that a non-anon game allows: look at Zor’s wife’s Insta, discuss Ent’s Fire Emblem feelings, swapping baby photos with Haschel, learning Menno’s real name! I’ve loved these conversations and getting to know you all. It also makes me proud that I didn’t take the ‘easy’ route, that I made those new connections, that I got to f5 with three people I didn’t know a few months ago, which is truly what LSGs should be.

Thank you, everyone, for making this a great game.

Hi everyone!
I've loved playing this game with all of you over these 3 (!!!???) months, and I can't believe it's almost over!
OK, let's get right to it: I believe have played an impressive, well-rounded, solid game, especially for a first timer. If a winning Survivor game is to be divided into social, strategic, and physical, I believe I have a winning combination of all those three things!

1.) Physical. This part speaks for itself. No one has won more immunities than I have, both pre and post merge. In premerge you may have chalked it up to luck that I avoided tribal council 8 out of 11 possible times, but on every tribe I was on, my challenge scores were consistently above average. After merge, I won immunity for 4 different votes in 3 different challenges, often by quite a large margin. It also proved invaluable in breaking the tie vote against DV, as it made a tie-breaker challenge seem like a foregone conclusion.

2.) Social. This, I believe has been my strongest asset, and I knew it would be going in. Though this is my first ORG, I'm very much a people person, and I knew that that would be superpower. My ability to get people to trust me and want to work with me, as well as my stellar mastery of "vibes" (as many of you have heard me put it) have been indispensable throughout the entire stretch of the game. I voted every single one of you out, and I'm sure a few of you feel betrayed by me. That is the byproduct of a superior social game, where up until maybe an hour before the vote at most, many if not all of you thought I was working with you. A testament to my strong social game is that I made it through the entire premerge without getting a single vote.

3.) Strategic. It might have been wisest to bury my 'weakest' asset in the middle between my two strongest, but I wanted to end on this one, and here's why: It wasn't my weakest! I knew going into this that I would be playing at a 'disadvantage' as far as strategic gameplay goes. I was one of the few players who'd never so much as watched an ORG before, and I had absolutely no idea how they worked. But I had a gameplan, as I wrote in one of my first confessionals: "I have no experience with ORGS, but I am a massive Survivor fan, and I'm a good conversationalist. I'm trying to present the version of myself to my tribe that would get assigned to the Brawn or Beauty tribe (Zumba Instructor, social butterfly, bartender, funny), and not the side of me that would be on the Brains tribe (Great at puzzles, NYT Saturday crossword personal best of 8:18)." For me, my strategy was all about managing my perception perfectly.

I leaned into my perceived strategic weakness, and it worked. Throughout most of the game, I was cultivating a perception of myself as a player who was a threat to no one, a friendly vote you wanted on your side. In the beginning of the game, it was through my friendliness and 'newness'. Throughout the rest of the premerge it was my personality and connections, and at the merge it was through my being 'on the outs from that Brom vote (though that was never true). Thanks to a combination of my strategic and social gameplay, I was able to be in a spot throughout most of the merge where it literally didn't matter who went home because I had set up paths forward in every scenario. There was a point in the game were more than half of the remaining players had approached me with secret final 2 deals.

All in all, I played a really strong, well-rounded game that I'm really proud of, and I hope you all saw it, or can see it now. I look forward to answering all of your questions, and I hope I can get your vote!

Introduction

I want to thank everyone here -- Bella, Scoots, The Jury, prejury, mods and spectators -- for making this such a wonderful and fun experience. I tend to keep people on the site as an arm’s length a lot of times, and this was an opportunity that I really relished to get to know people quite a lot in an atmosphere that was very different than the normal experience I get.

I approached this game very purposefully. I thought hard about how to approach it before the game even started. I committed to it. No one worked harder at this game. At one point I woke my wife up at 2am sleep-yelling about tiebreakers. It took me 8 hours to make sure that I kept Kanye out of my Zone. I got up early in the morning to make sure I could talk to people in other time zones. All so that I would have the opportunity to execute my game plan.

Game Plan

I played this game with a two-pronged strategy from the very beginning.
  • Establish strong, real
    individual relationships
with people I wanted to work with and
    avoid
large alliances that I’d be dispensable to.
  • Manage
    threat levels
-- both my own and others’ in order to assure that the relationships formed worked for me.
Relationships

I wanted to form individual and small group relationships with people to avoid large alliances where I could be an easy, convenient vote later. As someone who doesn’t have the built-in relationships that many people do from the start of the game, I knew that was a distinct issue for me.

I made connection after connection in this game, often coming in at a disadvantageous position where I needed to make those connections quickly. I know Bella and Scoots are the more naturally social players here. It’s impossible not to like them, and I respect the hell out of that ability. But I think I surprised people by making connections that lasted and worked again and again, and it put me in the position I am now at the finale, despite heading to TC more than any other player in the game (Bella went 11 times, Scoots 13 and I went
18
out of 21).

I could go into exhaustive detail, but here’s a
very
brief summary of the important bonds I made that allowed me to control and drive this game:
  • Tribe 1, I created what would become the Final 4 by organizing an alliance of
    DV
    ,
    Bella
    , and
    Scoots
. This wasn’t that important for the alliance itself (we never mentioned it after the first tribe) than it was as a jumping off spot for me to form a close bond with each of those three people individually and bring them forward to the end.
  • Vash
and I established a relationship that started in tribe 2 and grew each time we were together into a full fledged strategic relationship.
  • Haschel
    and
    het
    were both
    crucial
relationships I gained in Tribe 3 with the IPS and utah votes.
  • Entreri
was a slower burn but by the time we found ourselves in our final pre-merge tribal, we had really established a good relationship together that allowed me to make sure the votes were there for the Menno and Haschel votes.
  • DK
and I had a tumultuous but amazing relationship that began with Tribe 2 but really kickstarted in Tribe 5.
  • In that same tribe (Tribe 5),
    Radja
and I started a fantastic surreptitious relationship together when he was theoretically (but not really) on the outs after bro/kilby left.
I was able to use these relationships to both target others as well as
insulate
me from being targeted. I was definitely
not
UTR, but nobody wanted to go after me. Even when the barest whiff of being targeted occurred, those who were close to me made sure I was never in real danger.

Threat Levels

As someone who exerted a lot of control over the game via my relationships -- sometimes from the front, many times using an appropriate ally to go after a target -- I had to manage my threat level as well as the threat level of those around me carefully. I did so in the following ways:
  • Highlighted my weakness at challenges, despite only being weak at timed puzzles.
  • To some I pretended to have less game knowledge than I did (e.g. Radja, Entreri) to make them think I relied on them.
  • Convinced Bella it was dangerous to take other “social” stars (“Sweethearts”) to the end rather than someone like me. I played up my analytical “robotic” side to achieve this, leading to being picked to go to FTC despite having (I believe) the strongest game. I worked on this for
    weeks
    .
  • Worked tirelessly to raise other people’s threat level to make sure there were enough people in front of me: Het was going to win the game; DK was amazing and dangerous; Menno was a challenge threat; Haschel was a social
    and
challenge threat. All compliments. All true. All designed to raise the threat level of people I knew would eventually need to be removed.

A Quick Note About Challenges

I did not excel at the timed puzzle challenges that were prevalent in this game. But I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that the actual individual immunity challenges won were a count of Scoots: 3, Zoraster: 2 and Bella: 2 (Radja also had 2). In addition, I finished second at the F9 challenge in a timed puzzle and 4th at F11. So while Scoots is the undisputed Puzzle Wizard, things were really not that far apart on that front as they seemed even though I made sure that everyone knew I was “bad at challenges.”

Players of the Jury

I know this is a lot and I don’t expect you to read every spoiler unless you want to, but playing with each of you was an honor, and everyone who made the Top 11 out of 32 (!!) deserves to have their game discussed individually.

Spoiler: DK/Jamelia
DKYou’re awesome. I loved talking to you. You so obviously have a natural charm that draws me in. But lots of people are charming -- you’re one of a kind so far as the ability to control a game goes. It has nothing to do with what Bro told me (I mentioned Bro told me that in order to get you to target Bro). I still think I only see the top of the iceberg for you, but even that is enough to really stand in awe. You would get me twisted around. You’d get me voting one person and then suddenly the target is another person I didn’t want to go and only THEN would the target somehow shift onto the unlikely person you really wanted gone. The way you used the information I told you was just masterful.

Of course, I did manage to pull one over on you with the pants vote, and that stands out as a true highlight in the game. It both saved DV and got rid of pants, which were both essential to my success in the game. But it also scared the crap out of me because I was able to have a relationship with you up to that point by being someone you could use really well and I was worried you would turn on me pretty soon. In fact, I spent so long getting the Kanye Zone immunity because I was worried that if you had immunity you’d use your idol on someone to idol me out. I was probably being paranoid, but you with an idol wigged me out.

For what it’s worth, while I didn’t know 100% that you had the idol until Scoots told me (after I leaked you/pants were targeting Brom), I suspected you had it. I did so because when you denied having it you said that you couldn’t get under “like 25 minutes.” Doing the puzzle once (to screenshot it) makes sense, but the implication was that you kept trying and getting times in the 20s, but that didn’t make sense when the cut-off was 12 minutes. Instead, I think someone who didn’t use the method of pausing and screenshotting would have told me what PERCENT he got by the 12 minute mark.

I didn’t enter into the merge thinking I would immediately want you gone if I felt isolated. I thought your brand of play could come in handy if I could be your compatriot, but I always intended on turning on you before you turned on me. So when I was able to reestablish my dormant relationships upon merge, Vash pushed you and I embraced it. As a fan of the game, I’m sad this happened during a vacation for you because I’m sure you could have made things happen otherwise. As your opponent, I think I dodged a bullet.

Spoiler: McMenno
McMennoUpon merge a confessional entry of mine:
McMenno is the most dangerous player for Zoraster. He has no allegiance to me and he is a challenge beast. If we make it to the end, he will be hard to get out because of immunity, he will gladly cut me, and he will have other allies.

I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to play with you (or PJ for that matter!) before the merge. I knew by the time the merge happened that it wasn’t going to work with me. So to get this vote, I went around to everyone and told them we should hold the DV vs. Haschel 1v1 for at least one vote to get us all closer to the end and go after you. It was a good thing because if you had won that 2x2 immunity twist, I would have had difficulty surviving.

Spoiler: Haschel
HaschelGetting to know you better was one of the surprise pleasures of the game. Obviously we had “worked” together before, but we didn’t have a
friendship
. I’m glad this game changed that as I’m richer for it.

You were with me for three of my favorite votes this game: utah, bro, kilby. You helped me or I helped you (however you want to look at that) pull those off, and really against the odds I think. You helped me pull in het, who became my biggest thought partner in the game. I’m not sure I’d be here without you, and my game owes a lot to you.

But you were also the person I think who probably saw through my game the most.
On two instances, you went after allies of mine who weren’t close to you -- Vash in Tribe 4 and DV upon merge. Maybe it had nothing to do with me, but I think you knew that if you took out my legs (the close relationships I had formed with those outside of the ones I had
with
you) I would be hobbled and need to work with you closely in a way I did not otherwise. Fortunately, I was able to stave off these attacks. And although I had a ton of fondness for you in the game and our time together, that meant I really needed you gone in order for my own game to flourish.

Spoiler: Vash
VashI didn’t expect to vote you out at F8. But the twist came, and I saw pretty much immediately if the two “Gods” agreed on someone, I needed to embrace it or risk going out myself -- adaptability is crucial in Survivor. And I knew when Radja got immunity, you were likely the chosen one. I was sorry to see you go because we had an awesome game plan ready. It’s possible I wouldn’t have carried that through to the end with you because I was hoping to get the f4 I did end up bringing to the end, but it was an option I was taking very seriously, particularly if immunities fell in certain ways.

With the benefit of hindsight, I think you are a miscounted 2 away from being the
most likely winner of the game.
I see it this way: If you had won that immunity, you would have had it with Scoots and Radja would have been vulnerable. I think you would have targeted Radja first. And then I think het goes instead of Ent. If I get immunity again at f6, Scoots likely goes. At that point my game becomes VERY one dimensional and relies entirely on you. Maybe I get to the end with you maybe not, but I would not have had much of a case to make.

Additionally, you played such a great UTR to Champion game. Pre-merge was all survival and keeping your head down despite being in some numerically disadvantageous positions. And then suddenly merge happens and you’re out there making moves against a huge target in DK. You plan the game out with me. Etc. I would have happily voted for you to win at the end.

If not for the twist, things look a little different, but you still would have had such a strong case. So I’m fortunate in many ways you went when you did.

Spoiler: Entreri
EntreriYours is the most complicated message I have because unlike other instances where I played up or played down the true aspects of one’s game, what I THOUGHT of your game vs. what I SAID about your game were two completely different things.

We had what I believe was a good relationship that we slowly developed over time. It wasn’t that clear to me in the first tribe we were in, but by the final pre-merge tribe I realized that we had come to trust each other.

I thought your game was a pretty excellent under the radar game. There was a perception out there that you’d be easy to beat at the end, but that’s
exactly
what an under the radar game is supposed to make people think. But I see a pretty clear winning game argument. “I was targeted over and over again and you know who’s here? I am. You know who isn’t? Those people.” And the truth is you were perfectly set up for a strong end game where YOU controlled the game, and that’s the message that would be imprinted on everyone’s mind.

So you were pretty dangerous for me once we got into that mid-merge time period because (a) clearly there were people -- my allies! -- who DID want to take you to the end and (b) even if I got to the end WITH you, you’d be a large danger to win against me.

I’m sure there are people out there reading this saying, “that’s not what he told me!” Well yeah.

The problem with the UTR game from my standpoint was how to attack it so that people took it seriously. If I simply talked about how I actually felt about your game, I was never going to get anywhere. People probably would have somewhat agreed with me, but in a game that was full of big targets by design, people would have essentially told me to wait it’ll be fine later.

So in comparison to het, where I elevated his already high chances of victory at the end to make sure my allies were willing to target him, I played on people’s fears that EVERYONE wanted to take you to the end because you were beatable. I even said things like, “Well X I want to go to the end with you, but if Ent’s there I worry that you’ll take him. Heck, I’d take him.” And this proved pretty effective in getting the votes on you that I needed. But perhaps even more importantly it gave me cover to vote for you in a way that wouldn’t annoy my allies so much that they turned on me because, after all, I was doing this vote so that I had a clearer path to the end with them.

But what really solidifies my view of you as a real gamer who was intentionally playing UTR was the way you scrambled at the end, which was very convincing. You put me at ease going forward with you such that -- despite not being in my best interests -- I was willing to raise the idea with my allies, but ultimately the case for voting you was too strong and you had to go home.

Spoiler: Radja
RadjaThis was Final 6 and really down to the knitty gritty. At this point it became clear that the vote was going to be between the two allies I had who were head and shoulders over the rest of us in most challenges (you and Scoots). Het and I had a joint alliance with both Scoots and Radja at this point. The way I chose which way to go was on the basis of (a) who was going to TAKE me to the end and (b) who was most likely to BEAT me at the end. With no disrespect to Scoots, I had talked enough with both Vash and you about previous games including survivormeet to know that one of the ways you perform so well is by playing a game that revolves around dropping the right alliance members of yours at the right time. And it was always an uphill climb for you to argue that you were willing to follow my lead more than Scoots was.

During the F9 vote, you talked to me and het about how you wanted to take out Bella before f5. Realizing that this F6 vote might need to come, I eventually planted the seed for Bella to want you out by telling her that you wanted her out before F5. This led to her pushing hard for you to go out once you were available at F6, which is exactly what I needed to make the vote happen.

Playing with you was a pleasure. Putting together what was clearly a very difficult to detect alliance with you when you were theoretically “on the outs” on the tribe where bro and hiplop went was fantastic. When we were really able to chat it was a lot of fun, and I love the way you view the game.

Spoiler: Het
HetMy partner in crime. An incredibly hard vote for me to make, and yet the most inevitable. I had been planning this vote since near when we really became what was an awesome pairing. You and I were just on the same page about the game, how we read it, and how to approach it. However, I knew you were going to win this game if you made it to the end.

One particular example that shows both how GOOD you are at this game as well as how I worked hard to eventually get the better of you was the formation of Scoot’s Pilgrims vs. the Game (an awesome alliance name if i don’t say so myself): You and I talked and you suggested that we bring in het into a 3 person alliance. I was already pretty close to Scoots so I said yes, but we didn’t want him to feel like he was number 3. In a genius move, you had ME talk to him about it instead of you, which made me feel like I was the one “running” that relationship.

I talked to Scoots, he was excited about the idea, etc. I told him the same thing I told you which was “hey, we should be careful though because we don’t want het to feel like he’s number 3 so we need to think about how to approach him.”

And this is where Scoots gave it away.
10:07pm
he tells me “I can manage it.” I tell him, “awesome!”
10:10pm
Scoots writes to me to say “well I think that went well.” From my confessional that day:
Scoots is like "oh yeah. I can do it!" then takes approximately 3 minutes to think about it, approach het, then report back to me that it went well and everything is established!!! He's not even like "okay, it sounds like het is in and I'm talking to him now" he says it "went well" Finished. Done. Task completed. I know he's a fast puzzle solver, but this strains credulity. So one or a combination of a few things is going on:

1. He jumped the gun and started talking to het about forming the 3-some before we established Scoots should do it.
2. Scoots was reporting back to het the entire time I was talking to Scoots about the alliance offer because Scoots views het as his #1.
3. het and Scoots FROM THE FREAKING START planned out this alliance, talked about how they needed to make me feel good with it, how they should make me approach Scoots, etc.

If it's 1, that shows an eagerness from Scoots that might be somewhat typical, but is concerning. But it seems unlikely that he'd just go out and do it if het isn’t already his #1.

I think it's 2 or 3. I'm not sure which. If it's 3, het is just so
good
at this, and I sincerely hope that if I'm voted out that he wins (going to assume this is het's work because it's much more het-like than Scoot-like). If it's just 2, I'm STILL third man on that totempole at least as regards to Scoots, but het sure didn't TELL me that Scoots was reporting to him about the conversation. That's
okay
and I understand why both are clinging to each other, but I'm sure this wasn't their intention.

And it's not like I can be upset with this because this is EXACTLY what I strive to achieve. But I need to work to create separation between those two or it’ll be a serious problem down the line.
So regardless of what option it was (and I still don’t know), one thing was clear and that was that at the very least Scoots viewed
YOU
as his #1, whether or not you reciprocated. So I told Scoots two things: (1) of course we don’t
really
want to go to the end with het because he’ll beat us and then (2) when he asked why I said
het has a way of making me feel like I’m his number one.

And that seemed to sink in and Scoots basically confirmed it by saying “he also inspires that feeling of loyalty in me and makes you feel like you’re his number 1.” It wasn’t until Vash told him later that he thought you were going to win too (in order to get Scoots to vote you instead of Vash at f8) that Scoots was ready to talk about eventually voting you off, but it was the seed of doubt that I was able to use to separate you from Scoots and use him later to take you out at f5.

Anyway, I went on a long time in that story but there are so many others where we worked so well together to work and control this game. You were amazing. I think you know you would have been
very
hard for me to beat. The only way I outmaneuvered you was managing threat levels better. Otherwise you were awesome, and I can’t imagine it’ll be long before you win.

PS. I’ve hated not having you on. I’m like… 25 episodes into S5 Love Island UK and it’s
terrible
but I can’t stop watching and I have THOUGHTS about Sequester.

Spoiler: DV
DVIf het was my partner in crime, you were my best friend in this game. I know many others feel that way too when they play with you because you’re a great guy, but it’s still the case. It’s because of that that I convinced myself you were a similar threat as Scoots at the end, and so allowing you to get into a tiebreaker challenge was something worthwhile.

But on Sunday morning I laid awake in bed at 5:45am, I really realized, “god. No. there’s no way I can let him get a chance at the end.” Your game was great, and while I think I had a strong case to make at the end if you were there, I realized it wasn’t a minor difference in win chance with Scoots but quite a large one. Yes, you didn’t always get your way in the game, but it was clear to everyone that despite being close to me that you were your own player. You kept blood off your hands while using me in front. No one really thought to take you out until f4 other than Haschel at f9/10 and you weren’t in any danger there. Also, if I let you get to a tie breaker and you beat Scoots in a challenge to get to FTC, that would be a HUGE boon for your game.

You were so important to my game. I learned a lot from you about how these games work early on and that allowed me to really execute what my vision for this game was.

Conclusion

I would like nothing more than to make this longer and go into blow-by-blows of each move I set up, planned and executed: ips, utah, overkill, bro, kilby, pants (my flashiest move), brom, dk, menno, haschel, radja, het. But many of you in the jury know about these because you took part in them, and I don’t want to bog this down further. Please don’t hesitate to ask though!

Bella and Scoots have my respect and love and would make fine winners. Getting to know them was truly special, and I am proud to share the metaphorical stage with them.

But I hope I’ll get your vote because I believe I’ve played the best game here. I’ve outwitted my opponents by continually being one step ahead. I’ve outplayed by executing my original game plan and by controlling the game. And I’ve outlasted by creating relationships that both protected me from threats and allowed me to take out threats.

The time for questions is over. Jurors, that means no one-off comments, no additional questions or clarifications, your time is up until we reveal the votes.

Finalists, you can take the next day to answer any remaining questions or provide clarifications. By this time tomorrow, you'll also be tasked with posting a closing statement in your confessional. Tomorrow, we'll post the closing statements, and jury, it'll be time to lock in your votes.

It's been a long road to get here. I wish you the best of luck.

Zoraster's Closing Statement

I believe I've made my case for your vote forcefully in my Opening Statement and answers: I had a plan to form strong individual relationships and manage threat levels. I did both of these exceptionally well, which led me to sit in front of you with what is an incredibly strong resume. This was a terrific FTC, and I shared it with two people whose games I truly and honestly respect. But although I am prone to overlong messages, I'll trust the jury and let my prior posts speak for themselves.

This is the last long-form Survivor game for me. I loved almost every minute of the 83 days, but it took
everything
out of me. I plan to mod, play short-form games, and Skelda has commanded my presence at Survivormeet. But I don't think I can do better than the game I played here. I don't mean I played perfectly, but I played as well as I personally -- with all the strengths and weaknesses I possess -- am capable of. And win or lose, it's a game I am proud of and confident I will never surpass.

The only thing that shakes my resolve
isn't
the desire to win (or win again if you think I'm worthy of your vote), but rather the desire to play again with the people I got to know this game. However, the truth is that this game was the medium for breaking down the barriers I put up in my position on the site, and that work has already been accomplished because I have an immense amount of fondness for all the people I shared the last three months with.

Thank you for the opportunity to live it with you. It was an honor.

So, that’s been an interesting few days. I feel like I’ve still achieved my goal: tell the truth and be nice to people. And I’ve managed that more than anyone in this FTC. Haschel’s strategy question was designed to set us apart, but I think other people proved everything I’ve been trying to say about my game: Personally, I was honest, I was upfront, I owned my mistakes and I showed you all what I was proud of. More than that, I think I’ve proved I can read a room.

Presenting myself honestly has been important to me this game: whether it’s getting frustrated at challenges, being genuine in my relationships or giving credit where it’s due to others. I’m not telling people what they want to hear or trying to manipulate anything: you are all worthy competitors with your own takes on what a winner looks like. It’s pretty clear from Zor’s responses about what FTC looks like if the game goes differently that no matter how hard he wants to undersell my game, I am a worthwhile opponent. I find it difficult to ring my own bell, but I hope the right choice is clear here.

I do feel like my method of small, smart moves have led to me having a superior strategic and structural game. For example, things like the votes on PJ that Scoots told us all he didn’t know why he placed being one of those ‘little moves’ that helped my game - I was worried about an idol and used my relationship with Brom to get him and Scoots to place non-majority votes to keep me safe. These strategic moves do come out of relationships, though, and this is where I feel I have the edge over my two opponents: you can’t forget, especially in a non anon game, that you are talking to real life people. I leave the below for you to draw your own conclusions from.

Spoiler:
Bella:God, I cried last time I voted him out too ;)
Zor: Vash?
Bella: Yeah
Zor: Aw. When was that? i'm choosing to blame the mods here. out of curiosity, what was your plan with vash going forward?

I’ve said it before, but thank you, all of you. I hope those who were new to us stick around. I’ve enjoyed speaking to you all over the last three months - whether it’s making new friends or reconnecting or deepening existing relationships.

We started with 32 people, for the first time ever. It was a nonanonymous game, for the first time in a long time. And after so many blindsides, so many memories, and a shocking number of logic puzzles, it all comes down to this.

Three people. Three different approaches to the game. And now...one winner.

I'll read the votes.

At the end of the day I feel like I need to vote for the player who made more #bigplays. I feel bad about it bc I think Bella literally couldn't due to her reputation, and made as many as she could. I still gotta go with Zor though.

Spoiler: Haschel Cedricson
Alright, I want to thank all three of you for a fantastic FTC. You all played great games and any one of you will be a deserving winner of this game. In a way, that makes all of you winners.

In another, more accurate way only one of you can be the winner. And now it's time for me to cast my vote for who I ultimately want it to be. This was a tough decision and I wavered several times, but the more I think about it the more convinced I am it's the right choice.

Let's start off with the runaway category.

Structural:
Zor takes this hands-down, with Scoots taking a very respectable second. Not only did Zor use the structure of this game to his advantage, he also demonstrated an excellent understanding of why it was to his advantage and adjusted his game to it perfectly. From recognizing the importance of winning Kanye Zone and grinding it out, to navigating the swaps and twists, to the way he handled his groupchats, Zor did basically everything I want to see when rewarding a structural game.

Social:
"Social" encompasses a wide range of things and you all made great arguments, but I have to give this one to Bella. Sure, she was well-liked in game. But more than that, she was able to use people liking her to advance her game. She was a threat people talked about needed to eventually cut, but because of her relationships nobody ever did. For what it's worth, to the best of my recollection she's also the only one of the three finalists that didn't have a juror say "There's no way I'm voting for X!" about them. Point Bella.

Strategic: First of all, I want to tell Scoots that I really respect your game. Your game reminds me of myself in #2016 where I focused on playing the best damn reactive game I could. It's a valid strategy, and you pulled it off very well.

The only problem with a reactive strategy is that in order to win with it you have to make sure you aren't sitting next to anybody who played the best damn proactive game they could and pulled it off. And unfortunately that's where we are now. This was the toughest of the three for me to evaluate but eventually I decided to give it to
Zoraster. More so than any other player in the game, Zor showed a remarkable ability to assess situations, identify what future scenarios would be negative for him, and then make sure those scenarios didn't happen. The Utah vote shaped the entire course of the game, and as much as I had planned on claiming that move as my own if I'd made it here the fact is Zor was the guy who pushed it from "Haschel wishes we could do this" to "Zor and Haschel are doing this." The multitude of F3 deals may have hurt him socially, but they were a solid strategy to get to the end. And ultimately when I look at the three finalists I feel he had the most agency this game.

That last category easily could have gone another way, but after sleeping on it I still believe I have to give it to Zor. And with that, I
Vote: Zoraster
to win the game.

Spoiler: VashtaNeurotic
It's really interesting to be a juror in a game like this, cause tbh, I haven't really. The one time I was in a long form game FTC was pretty easy for me to cast a vote from the start and honestly, not that easy this time. Anyway, what this means is I get to write a long justification for my vote that is presumably well thought out and hopefully entertaining, which is sooooo much fun. So anyway let's get to thoughts on each of y'all.

Scoots, I sort of get the game you played. "As long it's not me" is a valid strategy, but you need to be sitting against the right people for it to work, and between Zor's careful control of the game and Bella's small moves, you don't measure up. Because your game did work well for you, you did make it to the end, but like, at least in my experience, I threw out the idea of you being a "secret buddy" at tribe 2 when you left me out a vote you didn't need to, and made that my first impression of you, so the charm that you naturally have was never met with "trust until it was too late", because you never really gained it for me. You did do a good job for your first showing, like be proud you made it this far, and in a vacuum your game is pretty good, but it barely moves the needle when I compare my reasons to vote for you to those to vote for Zor or Bella.

Zor, I came into this FTC expecting to be underwhelmed by you, if you read jury chat, you'll see that. But honestly, I'm very pleasantly surprised by your performance. You had a pretty strong opening, you took all the questions thrown at you in stride and I don't think you flubbed a single one of them. You explained all your moves quite succinctly and I think I understand each and every one of them pretty well. And I think you are right, you played the best version of the game that you could play, at least, you as you are right now, (I have no doubt that you could perfect an aspect or two in time) and playing with you was pretty fun. It was a strong game, and you should be proud of it, I have no doubt that you'll be seeing at least a few votes coming your way (maybe even enough to win). Yet, there's still just a nagging feeling that it doesn't "right" for me to give my vote to you, and that's weird. After all, you said and resaid that I was a very important ally to you and that me going set you back a lot, and by all means between that and our end game plans shouldn't your victory be mine? And you put a shit ton of effort into this game, I think it's no lie that you tried the hardest to play the best game you could, so shouldn't I at least reward that effort even if there are a few kinks that I don't like? And yet still, the nagging is there. And I think I know what it is, I just don't think I value the type of game you play as much as other people do. Cause you managed the shit out of this game, you had so many allies and made yourself soooo fucking safe and while there were moves that were hard at time to do, you did it. But you "managed" the game, and I think there's always been a twinge of that, not a lot, but just a twinge of it in our conversations, that you were managing me. I was given the information that I needed to know as it helped our alliance, but not more, not stuff that would be just good for me to know. Like back on tribe 2, it wasn't you that made me want to work with you and DV, it was DV, cause he often told me things you wouldn't, and one of the most important pieces of info that might have been able to help me in the round I went home (that Radja really wanted me gone) was kept from me because it would have changed the plan you wanted. The play I admire is someone who is willing to share that information, even if it may be to their detriment and if I truly was your endgame plan at the time then, it wasn't that kind of play. And tbh despite this, with a slightly different FTC matchup, or an F2, I'd probably be voting you, cause you played a hell of a game, and it's only right for me to acknowledge it.

But I have to cast my vote for
Bella
for a few reasons. The first is that to me, she was exactly the type of ally to share important information, hell most of the reasons I was informed as I was about other tribes and dynamics was because Bella had told me stuff without prompting, (she even commented that she entered "share everything with vash mode" from time to time) and it was a blast to talk about how "I" went to the park each day. She was the type of player who I felt I could trust with just about everything, and I did for a lot of the early and mid game. And I think she's right, you have to work smarter, not harder (hell I think I used that word before in one of my FTC answers) and she often worked her into positions where despite a large target on her back that inhibited her play, she kept being trusted and kept surviving. While times weren't always great for her and she didn't have all the information, by mostly just being kind and honest, she was able to have a good position and wasn't the primary target. And whether other people agree or not, I think it says a lot that she likely wouldn't be here at all if she didn't come in with a clutch win at the end. And in the end, she still couldn't vote for me, and as she stated, she doesn't think she was in her end game plans, it wasn't tactical and could have hurt her in future rounds, but she did it. She played the type of game I wish I could play, and while she didn't vote for me, I sure can vote for her.

Spoiler: McMenno
okay let me start off with a little preamble of why I will not be voting for ampaul (scootsbaboo)

first a little selfish personal part. I was always a little wary of ampaul, the friendly newbie who was nice to everyone and all that. then merge rolls around, he was like "wow we were both blindsided let's work together". at that point... I was pretty strapped for allies, so I said yes. then he screwed me over twice in a row by voting dk and then myself. so that's when he lost my vote basically forever and I hoped he would get humiliated at ftc.

here's the non-personal part. he took a very risky route going into ftc. for that kind of game... you have to be very careful about how you frame it, and very careful about who you take to ftc. i think it can only work on like, 2 occasions. 1: the jury is extremely spiteful towards the other finalists and you are the inoffensive choice. 2: you are next to someone who played a similar game, and is perceived as more goatish than you. I think the biggest mistake from him was not going after zoraster at F4. he said if the game didn't go towards the F3 he wanted he would've pushed some. but he never elaborated on who he didn't want at the end. I also think he underestimated how much of a mastermind he was about keeping people in the dark about his allegiances and came across as arrogant in the FTC. I think he was seen as a goat, zoraster's goat, and unfortunately for him... in lsgs, perception is reality.

ironically going to be spending much less time on the other two candidated... but im going to say that this was probably the most difficult jury vote i have had to made thus far. initially i never conceived of voting zoraster, determined to vote bella going in (and she was right, I probably would have voted dv if he had stayed in). but I was actually thinking about a zoraster vote.

Vote Bellaphant

in the end, while I think he
did
crush ftc... I don't think I can bring myself to vote for him. good luck to the other finalists, and may the best survivor player survive.

VOTE: Zoraster

Zoraster

By a vote of 5-2 (We did not receive Radja's vote in time), Zoraster is the winner of Survivor: The Real Theme Was Inside Us All Along!

There are still items to get to, however. Spectators have been voting all game for their favourite players, in a series of six ballots. Over the course of each ballot, spectators could cast votes for dead or living players equal to half the remaining players in the game. It's time to find out who won.

First, let me note that half of the people there have played ZERO games with us. Het, Jamelia, Scoots, know you are so loved here. Two people have just not played that many games with us. Entreri, Zoraster, very well done. And, of course, everyone is always benefited by getting to watch DeasVail play a game. However, let's get down to it. One person was on EVERY SINGLE BALLOT save one, from the beginning of the game onward.

Spoiler:
One person was hilarious in confessionals, controlled their fate in the game from beginning to end, and made one of the most compelling Final Tribal Council performances I've ever seen.

The winner of the Sia Fan Favourite Award.

Finally, let me thank everyone. Holy crap, all of you were amazing. From beginning to end, this game was simply delightful to run, and that's for a few reasons. First, the players made it so easy on me! Secondly, I had some incredible comoderators in Cheery Dog and D3f that literally did so much more than y'all will ever know. Third, Xofelf was there, and she continues to be the best listmod this side of the Mississippi. Finally, the spectators were...freaking incredible. There's detailed edgic, a lot of good discussion about the game, and the party never stopped.

I have so much more to tell you, but we all know how longwinded I can be.

Love you all. Thanks for playing, thanks for watching, thanks for being great.
