I don't know what hellscape timezone the forums I have somehow switched to on my forums account, but I don't think it's 8am friday morning because I'd be off work by then.

I've co-modded with Tripod and played more than anyone's fair share of Reck games

Multiple scum in a group is absolutely not off the table and sitting back going "hey we got our scum outta our group," that's not gonna lead anywhere we want to go in this game.

there's no violence, no threats of violence, no "you godless pigfucking inbred shitcan" etc

I play better when things are emotional because I read emotion so well.

There's a rare condition out there where your immune system destroys the mechanism that allows you to sleep

Iirc it takes like 6-12 months to go entirely insane
legit one of my biggest fears in life is contracting fatal familial insomnia

There are only three families in the world that have the genetic marker for it, so i'm good on that front

unfortunately there's also a variant called fatal spontaneous insomnia

gut reads the second day of day 1 is one thing

if you're still going on gut by day 5, you're probably fucked because the playstate should be a lot clearer
In post 918, Volpe14 wrote:I kind of like as a personal philosophy to be someone frank though

It's just really hard to play mafia without faking confidence.

I wonder if it would be ok to just nope it out right now and take back all my reads and active lurk happily

Like, I said this as scum before but this time it's for real, I think I'm REALLY bleeding town right now to a point I would need to insanely insanely motivated as scum to try to fake it which doesn't happen when I've recently played two long scum games.

- Without confidence in mafia, you're just another idiot quacking in the wind while everyone else throws their balls at one another

- Ah, the Katsuki method. That would be bold. Also, I'm sure he'll pop in a month from now to disagree with my taking a potshot at him for no good reason at all. So Kats, when you inevitably find this, I didn't really mean it, I just thought it was funny.

- I don't find you scummy, but I wasn't sure how anyone could come to some of those reads you had. I feel the motivation thing but in reverse. I hate rolling town.
In post 920, Farkran wrote:@Kuribo do you have DeasVail as high town? Why? I don't disagree but i'd like to hear your POV on him
I wouldn't say high-town, but I lean town. His posts mostly look fine to me. I've played with DV over the years, although it's probably been at least seven years since the last time we played together so GOD KNOWS meta can shift over that amount of time. But if he's scum, I'm okay with him pocketing me and then taking me out to the woodshed to give me the Old Yeller treatment. I don't think he is though.

But seriously, if any of you get the chance. Woodshed. Me. Old Yeller. Pls.

I once town read a newbie because she said she was townreading someone for their avatar.

Let that sink in I guess(she was really town).
I once lynched scum by wagoning my strongest townread

I once wagoned someone because one of my other hydra heads had claimed mason with them for no reason, and the other person didn't deny it.

One time I wagoned someone because I dreamed they were scum. My dream was correct.

Because I'm sick and I work 70 hours a week, dingus. Between coughing all night and working sixteen hour shifts I've slept maybe three hours a day, and sometimes less for about the past week. Any day now I expect this shit in my lungs to spike a fever so I can have full blown pneumonia again. Scum read me for it or don't, I don't give a fuck tbh. I'm sick, I'm tired, I'm grouchy as fuck and the last thing anybody wants is for me to interact with players in a game I'm not even reading anyway.

I already told the other three Horsemen that I'm probably going to have to be replaced and I'm waiting on their input or blessing. I've read maybe twenty pages of this game and zero of the other three games, and it's not fair to them.

Either way, this is why trust tells are banned on this site, and you're god damn well never getting away with it in a game I'm in.

BTW, my TM partners asked me to just consider VLA instead of replacing out so y'all get sleep-deprived cough syrup and vodka kuribo which is real fun for everyone

This is where I am after reading Day 1 during the night phase:

Townies who can fuck my mom gang style like the secondary characters in my stories on Amazon
MariaR
VexVience
DeasVail
FlavorLeaf
chennisden

---
Town but can't fuck my mom because this isn't one of my erotic stories exclusively available on Smashwords
kuribo

---
Leaning Town and can star in a steamy romance instead of erotica which coincidentally is also availble on Amazon
Almost50
Gammagooey
Ankamius
chennisden
Volpe14
GuyInFreezer
nomnomnom
FlavorLeaf

---
Middle of the road who get to sit in the corner and watch while my mom bangs the guys in the top list and tells them they're pigs
Dr Easy Bake
EspressoPatronum
Ankamius

---
Scumfucks who don't get any action and have to purchase my stories on Amazon instead of being in them and also they burn in hell
davesaz
Volxen

Honestly, if you think it's hard to keep up with the game in real time, try catching up by reading all the shit you people have posted, let alone reading three other games at the same time. I hate this site and I hate Team Mafia, and if I ever sign up for one of these again, please cut my testicles off like one of the characters in one of my CBT stories available exclusively on Smashwords.

In fact, I actively refuse to believe that a player in a game of Mafia somehow "forgets" that Mafia has a scum PT. It's literally a core part of the game.

If you wanna argue, oh, hey, I didn't know that Reck and Tripod usually give the scum daytalk, fine, I'll allow that because everyone might not be as familiar with the mods

But if you're telling me that a guy who's been on this site almost a year at this point, has been in multiple games, and has been scum before, should theoretically have read the rules, AND who has three other players backing him up in Team Mafia, suddenly says OH GEE I WONDER IF SCUM HAS A PT

I'd buy Scentsy from my ex that faked all the pregnancies before I buy that one

apparently, but does not have that resume someone like FL or kuribo gave, nor does his team has that reputation of being dangerous town players either. I mean, don't get me wrong.. it's like Leo DiCap before he made Titanic. Lots of promise but not yet actually proven. Now WHO would be afraid of him? So I guess there has to be some other motive for that specific kill.
i spent all of day one half-asleep and high on cough syrup while seriously considering asking my team to replace me

i'd have been really really surprised if I'd been NK'd

and usually that would be a pleasant surprise but like, i'd have been furious if I'd spent all night phase reading the game only to die N1

that was a direct response to deas???

I don't care who it's in response to it's a weird reasoning.

You vote the guy, DV asks why, you say the guy you're voting looks townier as scum. You obviously think he's scum or else why are you voting him? But if your reason is he looks too townie, then I have to question if you're just pulling stuff out of the aether because there are better reasons to vote someone than they look townier as scum on day 2.

I dont feel like this is some insane leap of logic on my part, this is me questioning why you voted someone for looking "townier as scum."

Yeah I got that but I mean, I'm not just gonna tantrically get off without physical touch. At least I haven't tried yet, and I've never had that "in my pants" moment.
My question is if I can whip it out in the corner or do I have to wait and think about it later?

You're supposed to sit in the corner and think about how you couldn't please my mom because you're too tiny and weak, and how humiliated you are that the bucks in the top group get to have their way right in front of you

Probably best if you wait till later otherwise it's ménage and that's a whole different reader expectation

The problem with outting who's in what hoods is that yeah, scum knows which hoods have their members in them and which neighborhoods are all town

But they don't know who's in what groups unless there's a scum in them. We already know that an ability existed last night that publicized a group's abilities. Claiming who's in what groups gives them a roadmap as to who they should prioritize should they find out other group abilities.

Lemme soften it down a bit:

Players A B C and Fuckwad claim to all be in group Sitting Ducks.

Scum uses an ability to find out to find out what the Sitting Ducks do. And it's a good one. So they start killing off that group. Or they know who to play against one another to fuck with that group ability and they know who to pocket.

They already know the makeups of the groups they're in. Why the fuck does it help the town to just fill the blanks in for the scum team?

In post 2323, EspressoPatronum wrote:1. What do you think of Vex's point that scum is disincentived from killing all-town hoods? We all know that the survivor powers are really strong, so why would scum want to give all-town hoods the survivor powers? I think it's more likely that scum would want to kill or lynch within scum hoods to gain control of powers.

2. Scum already has wayyy more information than town, as they know some/most of the information on: hood powers, hood survivor powers, hood distribution, and hood flavour. Since the disparity is already so wide, I think the risk posed by your Sitting Ducks example is worth the potential gain of town-wide information.
1. You can't know that, and planning around what someone else might do is a real quick track to the bottom

2. Yes they have information on which groups they themselves are in. Instead of knowing "A B C D E F And G are in different groups from us but we don't know which," they would now know A, D, and G are in one group, etc. So your solution is to give them even more information, got it.

I don't read walls I bust balls

And I already explained my reasoning: it tells us nothing useful and fills in the blanks for scum

Now, I'm gonna tell you something you don't know--- I'm not trying to convince you why it's a bad idea. I'm not bothering because between this and TEE HEEE I WONDER IF SCUM HAVE A PT, you're somewhere around that mildewy shit in my shower drain in terms of scumminess. I'm trying to explain why it's a real reaaaaaaal anti-town idea to anybody who might be swayed by your wall posts of lame explanation.

This line of reasoning is what I don’t like.

If EP flips scum, I’m getting pushed as scum as well.

If EP flips town, a I’m getting pushed as scum.

And that’s if I don’t eat a night kill because I’d get the Last Man Standing ability.

You know, if I was the one pushing within my neighborhood, people would be throwing a fit.

Don't you put words in my mouth, I didn't say you're scum if he's scum

I did say it may affect my town read on you. Surprise surprise, flips affect reads and the sun comes up in the morning.

1) why is FlavorLeaf/Vex top town for you

2) How did I go from your hardest TR to "lean town"?

1- I don't agree with a lot of FlavorLeaf's stances on some things, but I do think they come from a mostly town mindset. I still don't like the idea of outting neighborhoods and that brings him down a peg. Vex is town because I fucking said so.

2- I actually read the game in the time between those two posts. Oh no, you dropped down just very slightly. The horror.
In post 2522, Volpe14 wrote:I think FL is skirting around, kuribo is lol pushing EP to get FL last man
standing ability (as he overreacted to elements) and nomnom is taking the same approach she has taken with elements and not getting her feet warm in the most hot wagon of the day that it's not me.

In the hood I made clear that I was commuting Ank. I think that a scum team outside of nomnom/FL especially would kill either me to frame them or Ank because she would have such a good solve by TR both of them/me.

They killed Fark that was lukewarm about nomnom, FL, Gamma, Ank and that the NK wouldn't make a nomnom/FL team look bad.

I don't see Ank as scum here so the most reasonable deduction is that it's probably FL/nomnom. Alternatively almost all the scum team is in the lurkers but I think I would go with the first guess.

Okay, first of all I don't know or care who's even in anyone's group, nor do I know or care about last man standing abilities. I'm hunting scum the same way I have for twelve fucking years dude.

Second of all, overreacted? FUCK you. How's THAT for an overreaction?

If you're going to imply that I got pissed off about someone fucking CHEATING just to get an in-game advantage, then you're fucking garbage.

That's a real real shitty accusation to make at someone dude. You can check my meta if you want, I don't tolerate that bullshit.

And no, I didn't fucking care what Elements' alignment would be, nor did I know or care what group he's in. Cheaters get merked, NO FUCKING EXCEPTIONS.

And your hands ain't exactly clean on Elements either, cuz.
In post 2523, Volpe14 wrote:I don't think so. I think scum see'ing that wagon would get a bit shy about it and even kuribo voted elements mostly behind the shield of "it's trust tell and needs to die" which isn't like kuribo was actually scum reading Elems or at least he could have passed off like that in the next day.
Again, I didn't give a fuck whether Elements is scum. You seemed to think he was scum, right?

I didn't need a god damn shield to vote there. I could have voted naked, or just followed the leader because I wasn't reading the game up to that point anyway.

Go fuck yourself, and do it hard for this line of thinking. If you'd tolerate a cheater in the game, I got no fuckin' use for you anyway.

That's also not a trust tell even if it's true or nearly true it's a strategic decision rather than "I will post 'I want to [redacted] fluffy unicorns all night' as my 17th post in the game if I am town"

For example, see mastina "I don't fakeclaim as scum."
you can dance around the meaning all you god damn want but the Team Mafia mods saw fit to intervene and explained why Elements' behavior was forbidden

I'll be god damned if I'm gonna be questioned for bringing it to attention. I've never hid the fucking fact that I reported it. I didn't have to mention it at all, it's not like it would get anyone town points. It's just something that fuckin happened.

and tell Alisae go get fucked. What, I needed to report ELEMENTS to get them killed? Are you fucking stupid? Or is it the part where I flat-out said I had reported it? How the fuck would that have conferred on me any advantage by claiming it in open thread? You idiot.

It's a fucking moderator action. It exists outside of alignment.

I'm fucking pissed and most of all disappointed that people who have seen me on this site for FUCKING YEARS think I would stoop that low just to gain an advantage.

So my team and I have had a discussion and they feel I've gotten way to toxic tonight. Pine especially was upset that while all pissy, I twisted his words in a mean way toward pops, because he respects pops very highly as a player. they reminded me that even if I don't care about my own reputation, that Team Mafia involves three other people. They also said that my reads get really shitty when I'm pissed off and that scum tends to just sit back and watch me cannibalize entire games while I'm filling them with hate. They reminded me that being pissed off is no reason to burn bridges with people I like. Or with strangers for that matter. And finally, they've further reminded me that I've put a lot of effort into trying to not be an asshole lately during games and that the old ways aren't acceptable anymore to other players, to site moderation, or even to myself. They even quoted multiple instances of the remorse I've felt over the years for being mean to people and reminded me did I really wanna have to go down that road yet again.

In the spirit of this being a team effort, and in taking what's probably a good suggestion for my own well-being as well, I've agreed to calm the fuck down and step away from the thread for a bit until my shitty sleepless weekend is over with and then come back here without being a complete dick.

unvote

I've gone back over Espresso and I still don't like the push to pointlessly out information. I've softened on the "town slip" a bit because I don't feel like EP was attempting to blatantly townslip. If that makes sense. Like, the way it was worded and the way it was taken as a "townslip" are completely different.

I feel like I want more from EP besides "let's tell the scum everything we know!"

I'm perfectly willing to lynch volxen though.

vote: volxen

I'll have more in a bit.

It's somewhere along the lines of this:
In post 2194, EspressoPatronum wrote:If you give me a reason to believe scum doesn't have a team PT, then I could perhaps get on board with your thoughts.
To which Vex responded:
In post 2200, Vex Vience wrote:ep’s probably townie because of that statement though. i dont think scum forgets they have a factional chat.

But looking back in the cool of the morning instead of the heat of hatred, it doesn't seem like EP was trying to slip anything at all. It seems like EP was making a slightly sarcastic statement along the lines of "We should assume scum has a PT." And Vex misread it as "give me a reason to believe scum has a team PT."

I really don't like the feel of this counterwagon.

Especially if someone already thinks voxlen looks scummy.

You're either willing to lynch a slot or you're just pissing in the wind with your vote. A slot asking for replacement isn't going to change alignment.

Why do we need to limit the focus to one slot while awaiting a replacement? That doesn’t feel very productive to me.

We don't. But I'm looking more at Ank and chenn who immediately moved over to nom after being willing to lynch volxen.

Chenn literally said the reason for coming off was because there was "no point voting a spot that's being replaced. I deny that; if someone is scum, being inactive or replacing isn't going to change that. So I want to know how confident Chenn was that voxlen is scum.

Ank's voting pattern is reaaaaaaaal follow the leader at this point anyway.

Nah they're so afraid of getting scumread that they'd rather let scum get one over on them than spend twenty pages screaming bloody murder into the thread until the accuser either gets lynched instead or gives up.

Not one single player stepped forward to defend that slot and call it town, even when asked!

Even when asked!

But someone else rolls into the same slot and it's like "oh ho maybe we should hear what they have to say?"

If they weren't town enough for you to spend five fuckin words explaining why they're town, why the hell would you think they're town enough to add anything useful to the game? You know what happens to scum replacing into a bad spot? THEY GET FUCKING COACHED, and that goes doubly for team Mafia. They get all kinds of chatter about how they can redeem the slot and Coast just a little bit longer.

I've seen it a thousand damn times dude.

Hell I've DONE it a thousand damn times. Ask DeasVail about the time I replaced DGB as his scum buddy into a doomed slot with a bad fakeclaim. Ask him how I spread so much bullshit into that town that we won despite being up against a cop, masons, and a serial killer with like four days to go.

So don't come off like oh what are you afraid of, because I've explained several times my stance on this. That's why I have a long-standing policy of lynching the fuck out of replaced scummy slots before their replacement even arrives. And you know what? It's worked pretty god damn well at keeping towns from straying off into scum-led bullshit over the years.

Vox's posts were weak. Reactive. You wanna talk finding scum that sat on the sidelines and added nothing? Look no further. Always had something to say and nothing with meat.

1) You ain't gonna shame me into pushing a scum read.

2) I don't know what the fuck creature was going to do with that slot. Like if y'all wanna let it live a while Fuck it, it's whatever, but the point im responding to is that I see no reason to let something I went dead continue to live. It's been asked where the harm is in letting it live, and I've demonstrated the harm.

I don't know what the fuck it is to you since it's not like I can lynch him by myself anyway.

Trying to lynch you is becoming more and more attractive as your slot goes farther and farther down the towny scale, so

Bring it. I haven't been mislynched in eight years, and only twice in my time on this site.

In post 2712, kuribo wrote:So my team and I have had a discussion and they feel I've gotten way to toxic tonight.

Pine told me to read this post three times and go stand in a corner to sober up.

on a more personal note, I hate fucking being town, I'll never forgive Pine for talking me into playing Team Mafia this year

I honestly think nom is scum. I think that her posts are designed to make herself look town. I think her posting after the final vote on Day 2 and her posting about the kill Day 3 are scum pretending to have been convinced that Volxen was scum.

I've come around to thinking that kuribo doesn't actually care about the (game-related) things that he is saying. I think that he's pretending to have stronger opinions about things than what he actually does. For example, the Volxen scumread yesterday. Whatever he's been talking about today, I honestly forget. It all seems like white noise to me and is not as town goal-directed as I would expect from kuribo.

In the course of this game I've had to deal with:

A nasty upper respiratory infection

Some dumb fuck scumreading me for reporting a cheater

Another dumb fuck challenging me on a long standing policy of mine

Some dumb fucks challenging me about the death of a third party. That motherfucker wasn't scum, but he damn sure wasn't town and I'll not mourn him or be sorry for him dying.

Some dumb fuck trolling me and my team across multiple games

Another dumb fuck making me voteless because it would be "funny"

Yet another dumb fuck saying that I can't possibly be pissed off over any of this

My team repeatedly telling me to calm the fuck down

All this in a game where I had to be talked into joining TM2020 in the first damn place because it's always a circlejerk of nimrods

And you wonder if it seems like I don't care sometimes? That's some shit right there because if anything I care too much about what these dumbfucks say and do.

I've Fucking had it with this game dude so instead of dick whipping page after page my team tells me to just go stand in the corner and calm down before I get banned or get them penalized.

And it gets harder and harder to calm down when shit heads are trying to come at me because they think it's "funny."

So miss me with THAT.

I have two that I'd vote for personal reasons, Firebringer and chenn. FB might well be scum, but I don't care enough to find out because I'm pissed that he's bringing RC and bitmap's toxic ass trolling into the game. RC and I particularly don't like one another and lynching his teammate would be Fucking orgasmic. Chenn irritates the hell out of me between calling me scum for reporting elements and calling me scum for lynching what turned out to be a third party especially after dropping the hammer himself. If y'all killed off either of them, I wouldn't mourn for two seconds.

Eventually as usual I'd calm down and start trying to lynch scum instead of pissing all over the game and stringing people up for arguing with me. I'd vote either DEB or davesaz for starters, at least until I had time to look back at the sidelines of the voxlen lynch. I don't see it the same way as a lot of people, I think scum avoids that wagon thinking it's an easy enough "mislynch" to let town push through. I'd look at the people that avoided the wagon, especially when no one could explain why the slot was town, and then jumped to criticizing the wagon after it flipped third party.

The disagreement is everything but your alignment for clarity
I wouldn't call it a hard disagree. My problem with the idea of scum pushing volxen is that a number of my townreads were on that wagon and I have to do a deeper analysis and thought process to avoid being pocketed. Ego-wise, it's just the easy way out for me to look off-wagon, especially considering I'm voteless anyway. Probably not the best answer, but it's the truth.

Town reads being on that wagon doesn't ring as many alarm bells because it was a righteous wagon to begin with, and I'll never be convinced otherwise. And you know some shit? If creature had just claimed Vivor when he replaced in at L-1, I'd have come off him. 3P hunting isn't beneficial on Day 2, get some scum roped before you start figuring out which thirds need to die. But no, he had to get cute and wait for the hammer and troll the town.

The voteless and the two replacees were the only ones not voting anyway, so their lack of votes is NAI. I didn't like the counterwagon against nom, and I still don't like it in hindsight. Of the four voting nom at the time of lynch, one is dead town (Volpe) one is Vex, who I hard townread, one is DV who's starting to worry me because he's becoming erratic, and one is Ank, who's on my "I'd purge it with fire" list.

I'd be very surprised if that was an all-town counterwagon against a third party's wagon.

What is worrying about that to you exactly?

You wanted no part of a wagon on someone that you couldn't even be bothered to claim was town. You looked at that wagon on an extremely scummy player (volxen), said you didn't have any reason not to lynch it, and then wouldn't put your vote where your mouth was. It makes me wonder why you'd avoid a wagon on someone you said you couldn't make a town case for. You can excuse not voting voxlen all you want by saying you thought a replacement would offer insight (how'd that work out) but I still maintain that if you're THAT sure a slot is scum, it won't offer insight. Ever. I've been making this stand for years. Hell, I've had people hand me the hammer on replacements I'm scumreading because they know I won't hesitate to save the mod the trouble.

You can say all you want that you'd been building to your vote on me for a while, but your posts don't indicate that either.

You think nom is scum, but you're not voting there either.

You've said you don't think I "care" about the game. Have you played with me since 2012?! I don't fucking pretend to have stronger opinions than I really have, dude. And if I have some apathy, have you considered I've already explained that this game is complete dogshit for me? Do I really need to go on another multi-paragraph rant about why I hate being alive in this shit?

Bottom line: You're playing it safe with your votes. You were confident enough in nom scum to counterwagon off volxen (who you didn't townread) and yet today you're trying to stay off a nom wagon.

So yeah, dude, I'd say your behavior is worrying.

If someone in that hood is scum with the other person in my hood then there you go. A perfectly reasonable looking action given her bias against me, that's probably among the most anti-town actions the game has.

That's hilarious because it actually was maria

Vex and I were both scumreading you day 1 so we said fuck it, we'll vote Dave

Pant replaced in during N2, and the general consensus was that he hadn't read the game so we figured repeating the N1 action was as good as anything having not seen any negative outcome. And with Maria and I both scum reading you anyway.

I'm hard townreading pant and Maria in part because our LMS ability would be great for scum and neither of them have made any moves to claim it for themselves. It's also higher utility for town. I also townread Vex based on the earnestness of his hood posts, and Maria as well to an extent.

Should also be worth noting that as of the beginning of day 3, I've expressed intent to roleblock that voteless bullshit instead

I just don't see pant or Maria as scum though

And our LMS ability would be pretty sweet for scum to take. Hell I'd out it right now if I thought scum already knew what it was but I don't think they do

Asked and answered. We were scumreading Dave and figured that's as good a place as any

Are you under the assumption that each group only has one scum? An ability could be scum controlled. And esp on N1 when we don't know what's going on. So you block a scum read and wait for the fallout. Dave coulda been scum with another group member and controlling a vig shot for all we knew. And don't say that's a dumb idea because I've co-modded with tripod. We did a game where two neighbors shared a vig shot and had to vote secretly to agree on it. They didn't know they were opposite scum team members.

Then we must have different philosophies on voting, because I don't point my dick at anything unless I intend it to get fucked.

Like if you and your group think it's so anti town to use then why are you asking anyone to roleblock it?

Why are you even using it?

Why are you even using it because "it would be funny?"
