Town Inventor (Universal Alien, Universal Backup, Universal Cop, Universal Doctor)

You may target a player to give them any one of these 1-shot abilities:

Universal Alien - You may force a player to commute and disable all of their role abilities for the night.
Universal Backup - This invention will become the power of the first player to die after it is given out.
Universal Cop - You may investigate a player to see their true role card, including mod notes and stuff the moderator has hidden from the player. Furthermore, you will learn the exact post(s) the player's role and alignment comes from.
Universal Doctor - You may render a player completely untargetable (as if Commuting) by abilities that can potentially kill (including but not limited to a normal kill ability, Arsonist prime/ignite, and Poison), treestump, restless spirit-ize, or otherwise change their status from being alive.

Town Strong-Willed Dreaming God 4: A New Role

Each night, you must choose one of these abilities to use. This action can't be blocked, redirected or interfered with in any way:

Connections
Dreams
Flavor
Knowledge
Lockout
Pressure
Stasis
Vision

You may choose each ability only once, and will not know what the ability does until you use it.

Mod Note: Remove "4: A New Role" from the role PM.

The Strong-Willed Dreaming God's abilities are (feel free to randomize each ability from all Strong-Willed Dreaming God abilities of the same name if you want, this applies to other iterations of the Dreaming God as well):

Connections - Randomly swap two (if there are less than 9 alive players) or three (if there are 10 or more alive players) random player's abilities and make them Dreamscum (a groupscum alignment that exists only because of this Dreaming God effect, with a PT with daytalk and a factional kill). Exclude groupscum with living partners for this effect.
Dreams - The moderator will post "I'm dreaming of X" at the start of the next Day, where X is an alignment that exists in the game.
Flavor - The moderator writes role flavor for two random players, and colors two random players blue in the votecount the next Day.
Knowledge - One random groupscum in the votecount is colored red.
Lockout - Any PTs that aren't scum PTs are locked for the rest of the game.
Pressure - One random player is made a King the next Day.
Stasis - The elimination threshold the next Day is increased by 2, unless it is MeLo or ELo.
Vision - The moderator will post "I'm dreaming of X" at the start of the next Day, where X is the number of alignments in the game with alive players.

Town Fire Mage

Each night, you may attempt to fire kill a player.

If a player is targeted by both a Fire Kill and an Ice Kill, both the fire and ice kill fail. If multiple (at least 2) successful Fire Kills target a player, they are Strongman and thus ignore protection.

Not to be confused with a Firebreather, which kills like an Arsonist priming then immediately igniting.

Alien Sticky Ooze

Each night, you may coat someone in sticky ooze.

If you are coated in sticky ooze, you can't act the next Day or Night after you act. Furthermore, anyone targeting you with a kill action will be coated in sticky ooze.

As a Sticky Ooze, you can't be coated in sticky ooze, but you will coat anything targeting you in sticky ooze.

You will know if you are coated in sticky ooze.

Mod discretion on whether targeting a sticky oozed player with a Fire Kill or Ice Kill will sticky ooze you (I'd lean toward no)

Town Panacea Vendor

May give a player a Panacea each night. Panaceas protect from any Negative Statuses (poisoning, priming/ignition, freezing, Electrocution, electrical charge, etc.) Panaceas will either be used if needed the night they are received or held until needed and then used.
And the converse. Fire and Ice Kills aren’t normal kills because they don’t work like normal, but since they resolve instantly after the calculations are done they are not Negative Statuses either. This will probably need a much more comprehensive list of what it stops, but until that exists, mod discretion should be enough.
Is it fair to assume this protects from sticky ooze?

Each night, you may use one of these abilities. You may not use these abilities again until you exhaust your abilities:

Fire (Arsonist) - You may prime a player. If you have a player primed, you may ignite another Night regardless of multitasking (ignite doesn't count as a Fire use).
Ice (Frostbreather) - You may target a player to freeze. The frozen player will be announced to be frozen and will count as dead for all purposes the next Day and Night, but will not flip.

Anyone charged with mysterious energy is coated in sticky ooze, and vice versa.

Removing either mysterious energy charge or sticky ooze removes the other.

If you are coated in sticky ooze, you can't act the next Day or Night after you act. Furthermore, anyone targeting you with a kill action will be coated in sticky ooze.

Once in the game during night, you may target a player to charge them with a mysterious energy (and thus coat them in sticky ooze).

Mod Note: This role charges someone with a mysterious energy indefinitely once in the game. (Roles like Mysterious Eidolon can lose mysterious energy charge)

Still, have fun figuring out what being charged with a mysterious energy does.

You will know if you are coated in sticky ooze.

Town Invincible Until Day 3

Until Day 3, you absolutely cannot die, be treestumped, be restless spirited, or otherwise be rendered a life status other than alive for any reason at all. This works as if you were untargetable to those things. You are still invincible until Day 3 even if you somehow lose this role.

Mod Note: Starts off as Naive until this role successfully investigates someone. After this role acts, reliability is based off the last successful target. If the last successful target was Town, this role is Naive. If the last successful target was not Town, this role is Cynical.

Mafia Sleeper Agent

You aren't informed of the other Mafiosi and you don't have access to the Mafia PT.

The Mafia is informed that a Sleeper Agent exists, and if a Mafioso targets you with any action, you are protected from all kills and become a Mafia 1-shot Dayvig.

While you are still a Sleeper Agent, all roles that care about your alignment see you as having no alignment (this returns a blank result with a successful Alignment Cop check, not "No Result").

During a setup phase, you must submit an alignment spread with at least three Townies, two Mafia or two Werewolves, and 1 Survivor.

That alignment spread will be revealed during pregame, and alignments will be changed to fit that alignment spread. However, you must submit an alignment spread with a Survivor in it and you are guaranteed to be a Survivor. Yes, even if you pick a different aligment in Grandest Idea.

Temporarily Cursed Werewolf

After performing the factional kill, you will lose the ability to perform the factional kill, but you are treated as if you were Town-aligned by roles that care about your alignment and you can win with the Town.

-----

My Town Traitor idea was a lot more powerful... instead of it being a semi-confusing Named Townie, it notifies other Townies via role PM that a Town Traitor exists (but still wasn't informed of the other townies because that's against the spirit of being Town-aligned).

About town traitors: I had two town traitors before GE's new definition of a town traitor got added (the one that's effectively a named townie / role cop miller). Those town traitors count as Informing Town Traitors according to GE, and the later one I submitted is also a Moonlight Dancer.

Town Strong-Willed Serendipitous Mage

Your actions can't be blocked, redirected or interfered with in any way.

Each night, you may target a player and create a random effect (1d10000):

1 - The game ends with your faction winning. If you are a neutral third party, Town wins.
2-99 - You will attempt to kill your target if they aren't aligned with you, or will grant a layer of Bulletproof to your target if they are aligned with you. You will also gain a layer of Bulletproof and a random invention.
100-499 - You will attempt to kill your target if they aren't aligned with you, or will grant a layer of Bulletproof to your target if they are aligned with you.
500-1999 - You will roleblock your target if they aren't aligned with you, or will protect your target if they are aligned with you.
2000-7999 - You will neighborize your target.
8000-9999 - Nothing happens. You aren't even considered to be visiting your target.
10000 - The moderator says "Pineapple is a viable topping on pizza."

You are immune to all actions involving Magic or actions taken by Mages.
Note: because this iirc affects certain Werewolf role counterparts, this should rarely if ever be allowed to be paired with Werewolf alignment. This is essentially a quick problem-avoidance patch until such time as I figure out a proper approach to the issue.
Personally, I wouldn't submit a Werewolf Anti-Mage but I wouldn't blacklist Werewolf Anti-Mage in Grandest-alikes (blacklisting would be reserved for stuff like Mafia Mason or Werewolf Innocent Child).

Alternately, Seers could be considered to be psychic power and not magic which makes more sense imo.

I don’t think of Seer as magical but iirc the counterpart to JOAT for the Werewolf ability family is called Witch, which is pretty magic-like. I think Wizard is also used for one of those roles, maybe the Roleblocker counterpart?
I've seen Wizard as the Werewolf-equivalent to a Jailkeeper.

Neither Witch nor Wizard are popular in this thread so it won't be much of a problem. And Witch here apparently means a role that can control the Mafia factional nightkill.

For three phases (the phase you Dynamax, and the following two phases), you are Dynamaxed and thus gain benefits:

During a Day in which you are Dynamaxed, you have double the votes you normally have and are Loved.

During a Night in which you are Dynamaxed, you are guaranteed to remain alive.

Mafia Luxury PT Suite

While you are still alive, the Mafia PT contains a mini-bar (grants multitasking and three random inventions for the Mafia team), a TV (moderator will post YouTube videos in the Mafia PT if someone says
Turn On TV
in bold in the Mafia PT once per phase), a recliner (grants a 1-shot motivation for the Mafia), and a pool (Once in the game, the Mafia may drown someone in the pool as a factional action).

Mafia Quantum Tunneler

If you go a Day while keeping your vote on one player (you only vote that player that Day, and you never unvote that Day), you will swap roles but not alignments with that player.

If that player ends up being eliminated, they will flip as their alignment's version of a Quantum Tunneler while your role is changed to what they had.

Town Glass Pane

Whenever you die, you will flip this role instead of your actual role:
Town Broken Glass

Anyone targeting you will bleed. You are informed if you are bleeding, but you will die in the next two days if you are bleeding. Bleeding can be removed by any form of kill protection.
Mod Note: This role only alters the role you flip as. Alignments are left intact in the flip. Mod discretion applies whether to apply bleeding to anyone who targets this role on the night of their death.

Mafia Gem Curator

You will get gems from the roles that die from the night.

Investigative roles (that learn information e.g. Cop and Tracker) have a blue gem
Protective roles (that protect from kills or other abilities e.g. Doctor and Rolestopper) have a green gem
Manipulative roles (that affect how abilities resolve e.g. Roleblocker and Redirector) have a red gem
Killing roles (that can render players not alive e.g. Vigilante and Poisoner) have a white gem
Negative Utility roles (that hinder the player e.g. Miller and Traitor) have a black gem
Random roles (that rely on RNG e.g. Nexus and Role Reroller) have a random gem

You may combine two gems to get an effect:

Blue and Green - Combined Seer Doctor (learn whether target is Werewolf-aligned or not and protect them from kills)
Blue and Red - Loyalblocker (render a player unable to affect players not of their alignment that night)
Blue and White - Fair Vigilante (attempt to kill your target unless that target is Town-aligned)
Blue and Black - Framer (make someone appear guilty to all cop-like investigations that night)
Green and Red - Rolestopper (render immune to all abilities)
Green and White - CPR Doctor (protect from kills, instead kill if no kill attempts were made)
Green and Black - Machoizer (render a player unable to be protected permanently)
Red and White - Combined Vigilante Roleblocker (attempt to kill your target and prevent them from acting)
Red and Black - Mass Redirector (have all actions target your target)
White and Black - Restless Spiritizer (render a player dead except for being allowed to make a naked vote once per game day)

You have a post restriction. You must fakeclaim with an obviously fake role before the end of Day 3 or you will unavoidably die and a random townie will gain a Vigilante invention.

If you fakeclaim something reasonable or claim your actual role, you will unavoidably die and a random townie will gain a Vigilante invention.

For example, picking 0 gives you a role from a post number ending in 00, 25, 50, or 75; picking 3 gives you a role from a post number ending in 03, 28, 53, or 78; and picking 18 gives you a role from a post number ending in 18, 43, 68, or 93.

Unrepeated Townie

If this role is repeated anywhere on the same page, this role is instead a Voteless Serial Killer.

In post 7957, Gamma Emerald wrote:I think that’s a very foolish way to view “play to win”. Tbh I think that rule is kinda weird and don’t exactly recall why it exists? Plus sure I could auto-win but that isn’t fun. I play Mafia to have fun, and winning is just meant to be something to make it more fun. “Press button to win” is exceptionally boring.
And like you say you’d reroll those things, does that mean you’d also reroll the large amounts of “reroll with opposite alignment” cards? Doesn’t seem like a sensible policy if so, and will likely result in all Grand Idea games you mod being heavily metagamed.
Think of "Grand Idea but with no ballot stuffing" as a Grand Idea mutation. It isn't a pure Grand Idea game (which only omits roles deemed to be broken or unfun, which the player selected role will likely be, an instawin role is both broken and unfun), but it is a viable game if you don't want spammed roles.

CfJ Clause

Reroll all roles that are repeated anywhere on the same page or is posted as a pagebottom and then a pagetop in the next page. Alignments aren't taken into account for the CfJ Clause.

Giving an actual name to not wanting spammed roles here, this is optional and I think it is more in the spirit of Grand Idea to not play by the CfJ Clause (unless of course this role is rolled!)

Also consider that and are exact duplicates role-wise! And page 2 has - being exact duplicates as well.

Alternate name: Dupes Clause

Mafia "As is" Setup

Roles that alter the setup en masse (e.g. conditionally rerolling roles as to "blacklist" them (e.g. ), or altering setup alignments (e.g. )) don't take effect and must be rerolled.

If there are multiple "As is" Setups in play, they don't affect each other.

Endless Battle Clause
(to determine alignment, reroll; you have the same alignment as the reroll, but no other aspects of it)

For as long as you are alive, the following rules are (secretly) in effect:
- If no one would die during the night, everyone who had an attempt to be targeted with a kill during the night instead unavoidably dies.
- If no one even made an attempt to use a kill action during the night, a random player unavoidably dies.

Apart from that, you're just a normal member of your faction.

Town 2023 Normal Cop

Each night, you may learn if a player is
Town
or
Not Town
.

If this result would ever be different than from what it should be based on the player's true alignment, you instead get No Result.

Meant to resemble the Normal version of the Cop, in a Normal queue where Miller is blacklisted and therefore Cops should not get false results ever.

Edit: Miller is Complex Normal while Town Cop is Simple Normal, so this role is not a completely bad prediction

Town Normality Cop

Each night, you may learn the normality of a player's role card.

Allowed
is returned for a role that is allowed in Complex Normal games. Alignment matters. A Vengeful Mafioso is not considered Whitelisted.

Banned
is returned for alignment changing roles, roles that alter voting or elimination, roles involving randomness, post restricted roles, roles that care about posts, roles that lie to the players (e.g. False roles and Death Miller), roles that involve redirection, action investigators that get No Result instead of a negative result, roles that have kill flavor, roles that alter how the Day/Night cycle works, roles that alter action resolution, roles that are otherwise bastard, or alignments other than Town, Mafia, Werewolf, or Serial Killer.

Not Allowed
is returned in all other cases.

Normality Cop goes off the current role card, so someone with a Normal alignment that has their role changed to a Normal role will start showing up as Whitelisted to a Normality Cop.

Town Beholder

Each night, you may target a player. You will receive all messages that player received that night as a result of special abilities.

Investigation results, Messenger messages, Friendly Neighbor messages, gained item/fruit notifications, Loud/Announcing notifications, and role/alignment change notifications are examples of what is sent to you. A response to a question asked during the night to the moderator, a night action reminder, and a death message are examples of what is not sent to you.

If the Beholder doesn't receive any messages, give the Beholder a negative result ("didn't see anything"). If the Beholder's action fails, give the Beholder No Result.

Ninjas will only prevent a Beholder from seeing messages that are a result of their special abilities.

Added this because Beholder isn't a GIM role yet somehow. The wiki isn't clear on whether this interpretation of the Beholder (the stronger one) or the Beholder that only sees investigation results is the correct one.

Mafia Strong Willed Dreaming God: Maltheism Edition

Each night, you must choose one of these abilities to use. This action can't be blocked, redirected or interfered with in any way:

Connections
Dreams
Flavor
Knowledge
Lockout
Pressure
Stasis
Vision

You may choose each ability only once, and will not know what the ability does until you use it.

Mod Note: Remove ": Maltheism Edition" from the role PM.

The Strong-Willed Dreaming God's abilities are (feel free to randomize each ability from all Strong-Willed Dreaming God abilities of the same name if you want, this applies to earlier iterations of the Dreaming God as well):

Connections - Add each Mafia-aligned player and 1d3 random non-Mafia-aligned players to a neighborhood.
Dreams - The moderator will post "I'm dreaming of (a/an) X" at the start of the next Day, where X is the role card of a random living player. The Mafia gains said ability as a 1-shot factional ability.
Flavor - One random player becomes a flavor-word role, which is a named role with no special abilities with a flavor-word (e.g. chocolate, strawberry, mint) chosen by the moderator.
Knowledge - All third-parties in the votecount the next Day are colored red.
Lockout - Everyone is post-restricted the next Day. They may post only once every hour, or they will become voteless.
Pressure - All factional kills cause unavoidable deaths for their attempted target the next Night.
Stasis - Nobody dies the next Night.
Vision - The moderator will post "I'm dreaming of X" at the start of the next Day, where X is the number of townies on the previous Day's elimination.

Town SS3

Twice in the game during night, you may target three players. They will be added to a PT and asked to play a game of SS3 in that PT.

If town wins the SS3 game, those who rolled town in the SS3 game have Supersaint added to their role. (If you are eliminated, the person who cast the deciding vote is killed.)

If the Mafia Goon wins the SS3 game, they gain a 1-shot Dayvig invention.

The PT is locked after the game of SS3 is done.

Mod Note: SS3 roles are randed like a normal game and given in Role PMs.

Make the timing of the SS3 game a blitz in a standard timing game, an hour or two in a blitz game, and 5 minutes in a marathon.

You may self-target even if the moderator normally disallows self-targeting.

If at least one target is ineligible, the action fails and no PT is made. You must target yourself if you want to be added to the SS3 PT.

Hirsuteifier Apparition

The apparition faction doesn't kill. Instead, they "possess" people. What this means is that an apparition can take the role of the person they possessed. In the morning it will say that no body was found, and there will be no flip. The apparition doesn't take the alignment of the person, only the role. Each apparition can only possess one person.

This Apparition will add the Hirsute modifier to any role it takes. If it targets a Hirsute role, it will become a Wolfman (Death Miller, but Werewolf and not Mafia).

Mod Note: This used to be something else, but it was term-replaced.

Town Informed Multitasking All-In-One Cop

You are informed of every alignment that exists in the game.

You may perform more than one action each night.

You possess an unlimited use ability of every cop-like of every alignment that exists in the game.

A cop-like is an investigative role that gets results in the form of {alignment}/Not {alignment}

Example cop-likes:

Town - Bloodhound
Mafia - Cop
Werewolf - Seer
Alien - Theorist
Replicant - Dopplehunter (the name is taken from Rad Idea Mafia, Replicant-Cop may work better for this)
Pirate - Navy Sailor (I just made this up)
Cult - Private Investigator
Serial Killer - FBI Agent
Survivor - Survivorvestigator (I just made this up)
Condemner - Election Supervisor (I just made this up)

If you can't come up with a name for a cop-like you may just call the role {alignment}-Cop.

Town Solar Eclipse

Once in the game during the day, you may post
Solar Eclipse
in bold inthread. The thread will be locked for 24 hours and anyone with a non-killing action may act during the solar eclipse as if it were a Night phase. No one will die during a Solar Eclipse no matter what.

Mod Note: Solar Eclipses last for 5 minutes in Marathon games.
