Two Buckets
8 players

2 Mafiosi

6 Townies

Lynching and nightkills are compulsive. Plurality rules apply for lynching and the bucket vote, and voting No Lynch is not allowed.

On Day 1, instead of a lynch, town must vote to split the town into two "buckets". A vote is counted as the same if it splits the two halves the same way. A valid vote only needs the four townies in the first bucket, the second bucket is implied.

A valid vote is in the form of VOTE: A, B, C, D

After the buckets are decided, the moderator confirms how many scum are in each bucket, and then the game goes to Night 1 as normal.

The Mafia have a PT with daytalk.
I'm not sure if this setup works. This meets restriction 1 and 5. It might fail 5 due to it being plurality and not majority though.

EDIT: actually this setup is broken, I'll submit another one. A 0 scum bucket effectively makes four ICs at once.

yeah I'm not using that setup because it is broken in town's favor, especially if one of the buckets has no scum in it.

Only possible way of fixing it is to make it a large multiball setup, or giving the scum the choice of bucket (though it would need a lot of scum). But this setup works better as a multiball setup regardless. Neither of these are valid for the challenge (even if the "no multiball" restriction is only a suggestion and not a prohibition, since it would fail 1 and/or fail 5).

Marathon Night
7 players

2 Mafia Goons

5 Townies

During Day 1, Town votes for what power roles to generate in addition to the lynch. The power roles will be given to random townies.

Options are:

1
Public Cop
(checks alignment, mod will confirm that player's alignment inthread), 1
Reporter
(checks if the target has acted or not)
1
Day Vigilante
(Publically shoots a player during the day), 1
Backup 1-shot Vigilante
(can act only if the day vigilante is dead, shoots a player during night but only works once)
2
Masons
(They gain a PT with daytalk to talk to each other)

Lynches and nightkills are compulsive.

The Mafia PT has daytalk.
Going for a balanced marathon setup that resembles a traditional game. This might be insane, especially the Masons.

I assume the roles are distributed AFTER the lynch right?

I think Public Cop and Reporter are always the right pick would be the "issue" with this setup.
I balanced this under the assumption roles are assigned
before
the lynch.

If Public Cop is too OP I'm going to use a Miller instead of a Reporter.

Marathon Night v1.1
7 players

2 Mafia Goons

5 Townies

After Town/Mafia Role PMs are distributed but before Day 1, the thread is unlocked and a compulsive plurality vote decides what power roles to generate during a "role phase". The power roles will be given to random townies. After power roles are distributed (those who get power roles will get new role PMs), Day 1 begins as normal.

Role Phase Options are:

1
Public Cop
(checks alignment, mod will confirm that player's alignment inthread), 1
Named Townie
(no special abilities)

The Mafia PT has daytalk.
version 1.1 with the Public Cop setup weakened a little, I still think this should be fine during a marathon.

Hopefully the roles being assigned before D1 lynch is clear as a day phase here, a minor balance puts the role assignment vote into a new phase entirely.

day vig + backup is more interesting but i dont see scum shooting the dayvig since moving from even to odds doesn't advantage them too much, better just looking for the backup to kill
not sure where you're getting three clears from, but a miller in that setup feels very slightly bastard

Marathon Night v1.2
7 players

2 Mafia Goons

5 Townies

Role Phase Options are:

1
Public Cop

Miller
(is seen as Mafia-aligned to the Public Cop)
1
Day Vigilante

version 1.2 with a Miller, to weaken the Public Cop setup further.

In post 87, Jingle wrote:Miller is functionally the same as Named town there, since they're claiming D1 anyway.

Question, is the dayvig limited shot or can they continue shooting on future days if they survive?
I'm probably going to have to make setup 1 use a public tracker or other unreliable public investigative. I'm thinking public tracker and named townie might work, if not maybe D2 public cop and named townie.

The Dayvig is ungated. They can shoot for as long as they survive.

If you don't know, the themes of each Marathon Night setup are:

Investigatives
Kills
PTs

Marathon Night v2
7 players

2 Mafia

Mafia Rolestopper
(given to Mafia instead of a townie, renders target immune to all abilities)

The Mafia PT has daytalk.
version 2 with Jingle's setup for the public cop choice. Yeah this seems more balanced.

I should probably point out that the Mafia Rolestopper in my setup has multitasking, the Mafia Rolestopper can perform both the kill and rolestop.

Temporal Lich's Marathon Night v2 - Putting this here because I like my setup and it sounds like a fun marathon game to play at least once
Hectic's Switch with your name on it - An interesting marathon setup where everyone can shoot a specific player, the healing also allows a town player to carry the game
DrDolittle's Babbling Bjerg Redux - This is very easy to create chaos in.
Kerset's Cunning Saints - A somewhat interesting marathon setup.
BBmolla's I love you not - This is a small change to a standard lover setup.
popsofctown's The Best Patch - Confusing, but seemingly worth playing as a "bullet" game (even faster than marathon)
Ircher's SS3 Draft - Just SS3 but different.
Hectic's Sacrificial Pacts - Seems townsided to me.
Gobbledygook's Flash Mob - A one cycle dance setup. WIFOM is baked into this setup with the two different dance types, but this somehow isn't charming.
Not Known 15's Jail V2 - Is this Double Day but convoluted? I don't get it.
ceejayvinoya's ascension without meds - This setup has a 25% chance of instaloss but otherwise is townsided, and thus is unfair. Even more so if this setup uses elimination for wincon instead of parity.
Jingle's 8p Choose Your Rival - Picking someone who 100% isn't your scumbuddy seems a bit odd, also the biased randomization makes it so the higher you are in the playerlist the more likely you will be suspected as scum. Probably an unfair and unfun setup.

Apparently Copeland's method (using the votes as NSG posted) in the winner calculator spits out Marathon Night v2 as the winning setup.

Not sure if that helps but I guess, idk.

If I had to alter my vote I'd swap my setup and Hectic's setup.
