Eastermeet 2020 - Current status: postponed

Had some issues getting vacation time approved, but that's been taken care of now.

So, I've just sprained my ankle and been given crutches. I'm optimistic that I'll still be able to come, but it seems prudent to mention now.

So... Countries are starting to close their airports due to COVID, that's going to be an issue.

It could well be, yes. It's also quite possible that within 2 weeks travel within the UK itself will be restricted. I don't know and right now we can only wait and see how it develops.

If we are forced to cancel it or anyone wants to play it safe and pull out, we would of course refund them.

I've already had a couple of events cancelled and most of those offered a reschedule to June. Something similar might happen to the meet location.

As it currently stands, I don’t think we will go ahead with Eastermeet in April this year. If you haven’t already booked travel, then please don’t, and we’ll look to sort out accommodation refunds to those of you who have sent us payment early next week.

Perhaps we will be able to rebook for a date later in the year but I think it’s too soon to know when that should be - we will consider it further in due course. Obviously it is a huge shame as we were very much looking forward to everyone coming, but with the situation we don't think it's sensible to go ahead with a gathering like this. We hope as many of you as possible (or even more!) will still be able to make it whenever we can hold it next.

Not surprising, though still unfortunate. Have you been in contact already with the accommodations?

We have been, yes. With the government position as it stands they're not currently able to offer us anything (which is unfortunate but also understandable).

Update on that, the venue have now agreed to refund us, so that's good news

And, I've just sent out refunds to everyone who paid by paypal. Those of you who paid by bank transfer, it doesn't give me your details, so please can you send me either your bank details or paypal or something so I can send your payments back.

Obviously we are hoping to reschedule and would hope to have you there, but as it's too early to set new date, I'd rather just send everyone a refund now than hold credit and try have to keep track of that down the line.
