I stole these rules from strangercoug!!

RULES

1. The game will be played to the rules listed here. If you need a detective sheet, you may get it from this source. (I recommend printing one off even if you are in the replacement queue so catchup is faster.) The rest of these rules are additions and clarifications by me only.
   
2. When you are PM'd your cards, confirm receipt by PM'ing me back in the order in which you want me to give priority in the event you have multiple cards that could disprove a suggestion. (This order may be changed at any time; just PM me with the new order.) If you PM cards yourself, you must wait for the players between you and the suggesting player (if any) to pass and I must also receive the PM.
   
3. When rolling, tell me the exact path you wish to take.
   
4. Suggestions and accusations must be in bold to count. If you are not ready to make an accusation after your suggestion, bold the words
   End turn
   to officially allow the next player to roll. If your move does not take you where you can make a suggestion, your turn automatically ends thereafter by default.
   
5. It's blurry in the source photo, but for players unfamiliar with the board, one secret passage connects the conservatory with the lounge and the other connects the kitchen with the study.

To speed up the game, would it make more sense to make the revealing of card automatic?(This may be suboptimal strategy for the player revealing if he has 2 cards(Not very often) but will speed up the game alot)

there's a distinct strategy in card reveals

I think we should have a default card reveal order that is to be used unless we pm the mod something different.

but i'm a big fan of this
when i do pm's in like 1-2 hrs time i'll send them to you in the order i rand the setup. if you want to change your reveal preference order at any time, pm me and i'll update it with immediate effect.

as long as conditionals are explicit and public (e.g. "i end my turn if someone shows me any card.", not e.g. "i end my turn if i gain new information") i'm vry happy to act on them.

I would prefer not to have a default card revealed. Also is there a rule preventing us from revealing the same card to someone a second time if we have the option of revealing a new card? (ie do we always have to reveal a new card if possible)

there's no rule against that at all, i think it's kinda optimal tbqh





tryna spin best of both worlds. how about everyone's reveal order is pre-set (e.g. if you rand ballroom kitchen library i will set 1. ballroom; 2. kitchen; 3. library from the start) but you can have me update it at any time

so we have the strat of automated reveals in order, and also the potential for them to be updated

if this suits everyone, just one question re. resolution. want me to go strictly off timestamps or allow for customisation before resolving suggestions?

in this case for example if we had
12.00: player one makes a suggestion
12:01: player two asks me to update their order
12:05: i log in and see both requests

which would people want me to action first? instinct tells me that it would be better to do player two's order update first to allow more leet strats

Except some players may not be as active as others.

basically my thoughts are the same as NPOM's; it works out well for very active players but i think having x-month long games with manual selection is probably more damaging to the gamestate than slight loss of optimisation

• state exactly which tiles you'd like to take (e.g. roll 4 => south east north west; roll 3 => 3 tiles east; etc.)
  
• confirm if you are entering a room/using a shortcut
  
• confirm if you are making a suggestion
  
• state whether you are happy to end your turn, or conditionally end your turn

if you are not entering a room or making a suggestion, the next person may take their turn (order proceeds down the player list).

i think it's minimal compromise if strangercoug doesn't comment on whether or not he could have disproved it, and we just move on to the next turn.
this sets a sound precedent imo.

if anyone strongly disagrees with me, please say so

on reflection (i'll discuss more postgame) i think the better call/precedent here is

either:
1) ~ hypothetically ~ strangercoug can disprove it. i state "strangercoug could have disproved this." but don't show cm1 the card. we then move on.
2) ~ hypothetically ~ strangercoug could not have disproved it. i state "strangercoug could not have disproved this." and we move on.

i'll let this float for 24 hours if that's cool w/ everyone. if anyone has a particularly strong objection, please voice it.
