Micro 960: A Year of Miccros II - Game Over

Alright gamers, its DkKoba here. I took the day after I got home from work to do RESEARCH for this setup.

I have a list of every setup and every role I believe to be possible matched up to a spreadsheet. I will NOT be sharing this information as it will moreso help mafia fakeclaim. Once everyone is assigned to a setup I WILL drop the spreadsheet with the setups.

NOTE: if there are any neighbors, I suggest that there are claims on D2 and those claims matched up to the spreadsheet. (should i survive).

I believe at a certain point we should claim which game we have been assigned as more info = more power. (day 2 probably)

also as my RVS vote I will be going for VOTE: bugspray. That is for not having a nice mod PT alongside the roles! big shame. (edit: found a game with a mod pt and gameroles but they were Messy so I still maintain this vote) I will also HEAL: Datisi for being such a perfect mod and making it easy to find the role list especially enjoyed reading Butterfly mafia near the end <3

Or would it be that the normal mafia player can kill every night while the masked mafia player can only kill once in the entire game?

This post is scummy because he clearly hasn't thought about the benefits for town of claiming which setup the role comes from - it's not natural for him - his actual thought here is about which fakeclaim he wants to make and which setup to fake-claim out of.

overall after finishing my read of miccro mask - i think there is a level of scum-think and carefulness that didn't exist in Coalition mafia - where I think he was pretty open and honest with what he was thinking. Here he's much more careful and restrained - his words and posts feel planned and not genuine. It's like one of those movies where the character is being controlled by an alien bodysnatcher or some shit.

let's say you're aldus and your post says that you think it's bad for players to claim to be from game XXX because let's say XXX was a vanilla only setup with townies/mafia so you are basically saying you are not a power role if you are from game XXX.

Now let's say you see that DC has decided to play as "Micro Mask" from a vanilla only game - meaning DC is either vanilla townie or a standard mafia.

You now feel "paranoid" about DC faking his "mask-ness" that is pretending to be a masked player by making an alt and getting the mod to put him on the player list as that alt.

There's a few problems with this:

1) What advantage does DC gain from claiming he is from micro XXX where its a vanilla only setup? He only restricts his own claim range to vanilla or mafia - doesn't make him look any more innocent.

2) if any other player was from micro XXX - they would know that DC is lying about his masked nature and immediately be able to go after DC. - remember at the beginning of the game it's not clear to a scum from a different game that a player from the masked micro would be even masked to begin with.

3) It's quite convoluted for scum-DC from a different game to scroll thru micros and think hey let me pretend to be this masked person from a different game so i have to post in this game under an alt which is kind of a pain in the ass for no real gain whatsoever.

I think the real reason is because he was thinking about the difficulty of fake-claiming a setup because he was dealt a scumrole in a badsetup for scum - for example a setup where the scum role is playing against something OTHER than vanilla townies as this limits the scums range out of fakeclaims out of the easiest fakeclaim - aka vanilla townie. Even tho its trivially easy to dial up another setup and picking that one instead - he's thinking about the small probability that someone else was dealt that setup and can counterclaim him.

The reason a badsetup for scum to be dealt their role is one where there are not vanilla townie for example is one in which the only role other than scum are townside power roles or something that is verifiable in a game way such as your mask thing.

That line of thought would lead to the point where he's thinking about you maybe fake-claiming your game setup because he's thinking about his own difficulties and approaching it from a scum POV - I don't see how a townie naturally reaches the suspicious of your masked-alt POV.

I've already stated multiple times my vote on bugspray was a conversation starter/random vote for the reason I stated :

I thought it was funny the 2 times I've played with him, bugs basically didn't show up - in one game bugs made like 20 posts total and showed up AFTER the game to be like "huh?! the game's over!? what the hell guys!?"

Which is funny to me because I was posting and fighting with all sorts of people in that game as bugs lover - and bugs literally did not participate in the fights or the action and just played chess with me in our PT and literally ignored the game while it was going on - then showed up afterwards.

Why I do not believe Aldus Explanation:

Aldus's explanation of his "paranoia" about DonC's "masked nature" is that "Exploring possibilities + raising doubt about it means that DC isn't confirmed as vanilla which helps town PRs hide"


A) The Assumption here is that the scum have looked at the masked game and now know DonC is a vanilla townie based off his role and this narrows the room for the NKs to be in in looking for power-roles - it's not clear the scum have done that much research or thought of this. It's also not clear if DonC is even a townie to begin with - he could just be mafia in which case the scum know the Masked role is not a PR.

B) Instead of "exploring" and keeping the possibility open that DonC is not forced into the mask by the mod and actually did it on his own and thus could be a power role - Aldus's questions to the moderator actually make this possibility certainly impossible - basically confirming for the scum if they are not DonC that DonC is definitely a townie if he is not scum since his role is from that vanilla game.

C) Picture yourself getting dealt a protown power role, now you decide to hide your identity as a power role by going to the moderator and asking for a change to your username in game to "Miccro Mask" in order to pretend you are a vanilla townie - how is this a good idea? What if a tracker tracks your movement and sees you did an action at night and now the tracker thinks you are mafia from that game? What if another player got dealt vanilla townie in that game and then opens up on you immediately on day 1? What do you say at that point? oops I'm actually a protown power role from ANOTHER game and I decided to fake being from this vanilla game in order to throw the mafia off my tracks? Like who would believe this? Literally one of the easiest lynches ever if you are ever caught out and hence why the downside far outweighs any potential gain.

4) In case he is right that some protown power role did do this (which I find unlikely as hell) why would he call them out on it and spotlight it for the scum? That side of the move also does not make sense.

5) I honestly find it highly unlikely that Aldus actually had originally thought of this because it's such a ridiculous play for a protown power role to make - I think he made this up after he got called out by me for his paranoia because it doesn't make any sense. Now he's saying it's actually fake paranoia for a different alternate protown purpose, but just think for a second how difficult it would be to believe that a protown power role would decide to hide themselves in a different vanilla game by telling the moderator to change the participation account from their account to a masked account in the pregame immediately after roles are dealt out - like would anyone believe that a power role would do this? I don't think so and I don't see how it's reasonable for Aldus to think this is possible either.


Conclusion: Aldus's paranoia of Micro Mask's "Masked Nature" in the early stages of the game did not make sense - he now admits it was faked in order to confuse the scum - his explanation does not make sense for the reasons I highlighted below. I think it's very possible that if we feed Aldus some rope today he will flip red.

Seemed to me like a sincere and natural paranoid town reaction rather than scum trying to make sure I wasn’t exempted from the execution pool.

yea but this isn't epicmafia and this setup has been reviewed so i don't think it makes sense to have a day-vig in this game just for balance purposes - a conf inno townie is alrdy pretty strong - you add a daykill just feels super imba

like in the game the day-vig is from

the town is like 4 town vs 2 mafia with 1 of the town able to dayvig

here we're probly doing 2 mafia vs 7 town - so it doesn't make sense to have a dayvig cuz it would crowd out all the other power roles - heck the town could have only 1 dayvig as a PR and it'd still be stronger than the town in the original game where the mafia get to play lylo if the dayvig misses but here it's like they're still a few MLs away from winning.

Anyway I don't think DonC really believed he was actually DayVig'd and his reaction was kind of scummy to it,

here's the acceptable reactions I would've thought is within DonC's townrange:

1) He believes koba - massive hardcore flaming - I don't think someone with donC's skill level would actually believe a day-vig is possible in this setup but I could be wrong here.

2) He doesn't believe Koba - he tells koba he's lying and full of !@#$ - this is what I would expect Town DC to do.


Instead we got a reaction that's kind of like a last will thing and we all kind of played along and it feels scummy to me because it feels like DC knew Koba didn't DayVig him but he took adv of it anyway to give this last will type reaction. I dunno I think it feels fake.

Anyway it'd be wild if the 2 scum really were aldus/DonC and I still like my aldus vote better despite my unease regarding DC's reaction to Koba.

I see a lot of discussion on whether I faked my reaction to the dayvig shot or not, so to clarify:

I thought the dayvig shot was probably not real, because I don’t see how a 9p would be balanced with a dayvig; but koba had softed dayvig stuff earlier on, and while I put the percentage chance of it being real pretty low, if it *was* real then it was important to get my final reads out and I had enough uncertainty about it being real that doing that as insurance seemed like the best option

imo your reaction felt like you wanted to look better for after the vig kill failed than a genuine reaction.

like if you reacted to koba with "hahah do you think I'm a noob or something? there's no way you're a dayvig get that weak shit out of here" or some kind of ego driven retort snubbing them and calling them dumb for even attempting such a play - I could see that coming from a town-donC as a pure reactionary move after getting "dayviged"

but instead it was like the last will of a town type thing that I think a scumDC would do in order to pass a reaction test.

honestly your biggest mistake in your analysis is assuming that I thought about this for more than like 30 seconds when it was more like "oh hey, something unusual to talk about early on instead of just RVSing" and also "that'd be such a sick play if DC faked being from the mask game"

I don't think you came up with "let's work up mask paranoia regarding Miccro's account in the game in order to get the scum to think that Miccro could possibly be non-vanilla PR who changed his account in order to pretend to be a vanilla townie so that their pool for where the PRs could be expands by a tiny amount" in 30 seconds while glancing at Miccro playing under a different name. That's a very convoluted thought to have and not naturally the first thought that comes to a townie's mind when seeing the role in the OP and in the PM from moderator to us. It feels very much like an excuse you invented after the fact when you were just typing random stuff in the beginning.
